Viktor watched them closely for any sign of deception, the force primed to alert him to any falsehood. He listened intently while they spoke of Bastion and the actions of their former leaders. He listened to them speak of their dedication the Imperial way and said nothing as they spoke their peace. He nodded as they finished, having a sip of whiskey. He felt no intuition or force insight that they were lying, and so he looked at them both weighing his words before speaking.
"So the Kuati Empire has thrown in with the Republic? This is good to know. As for the rest of your tale, I find I have little reason to doubt you. You say you were late of Bastion? That is fortunate. The important question is this, do you believe so truly in the Imperial Truth that despite the betrayal of your former leaders, you would pledge your lives and sacred honor to it's defense? Think carefully now, and answer me truthfully, for I will not ask twice."
Though still civil, Viktor's tone was stern. The tone of one who would not, who could not waste time with those who lack the true depth of devotion. His natural eye met both of theirs in turn, awaiting their response. He needed experienced men.

Everything was changing so fast, and Captain Isond felt like he was a drunkard slowly coming out of his stupor. Just a few months ago, he was fighting for his very survival against foes whom had at one time been considered brothers. Now, after much had happened, he was offered the chance to wholeheartedly pledge the fates of himself and his men to the ideals of the Imperial Truth. Now, while others had claimed to spout such gospel as definitive facts, only to have their words thrown back in their faces. Not this man. The conviction he had seen within his one remaining eye was true, or an approximation thereof. That alone was enough for the Captain to take the Chance.
“The Ark of Glory is yours to command, Lord Marshal,” He had said without hesitation, “As are the crew within.”
Gideon remained silent as the Captain spoke, forcing his mind to forget the symmetry of the situation he had found himself in all those months ago. He knew, deep down in his heart that he wanted to simply say yes. That he would willingly give his life in the service of a cause greater than his own. However, as he spoke those words within the silence of his mind, they felt hollow in the face of the Lord Marshal’s brimming confidence. If he had spoken them, he would show this man that he was nothing more than a whimpering dog unworthy to wear the armour he now bore. Instead, the Colonel dug deeper into the blackest reaches of his heart to find his resolve.
In the most unlikely place, did the Stormtrooper find his courage. This was not an Empire ruled by a woman draped in the clothes of a man. He would not find his men squandered underneath the uncaring gazes of former Imperial Moffs. This was a splinter faction that had proved itself worthy of the legacy left behind by their collective ancestors.
Looking up from his near empty glass of Whiskey, his silvered blue eyes ablaze with the smouldering fires of his resolve, Gideon uttered a phrase that he would’ve never imagined himself saying in a thousand lifetimes.
“Death to the False Emperor.”

Viktor smiled his grim smile, and keyed a few commands into his console, entering them into the logs of Imperium officers, formalizing their commissions within the command structure of the Imperium Navy and Stormtrooper corps. "Welcome to the Imperium. You have both received commissions at your proper rank, effective immediately. Files are being forwarded to the Ark of Glory to bring your men and materiel into the Imperium fold. As for now, you will be shown to quarters befitting your ranks and be expected to join me and your fellow officers at my table for dinner. Any questions?"
Viktor's past as a stormtrooper was evident in his clipped military style of handing out orders. He puffed his cigar and awaited any word from them.

And, once more, they were drafted into the fold of another fractious shard of the Imperial Dream. To say that they were surprised that they retained their commissions, would be an understatement. Captain Isond was thrilled that he would retain command of his corvette, while the Colonel felt somewhat exonerated for the massacres he perpetrated on this… No, his Empire’s former capital world. Gideon believed that he would have to punish himself some how, in some way more than rebuilding the Legion he had destroyed. Retaining his rank would simply not do, and he assumed the Lord marshal knew this, as what would the others think if they let a damaged Imperial Officer remain his rank after bringing about bloodshed on a relatively peaceful world? So, as the Captain was brimming with excited pleasure, the Stormtrooper sunk deep into his own mind, trying to convince himself of a better alternative, one that would suit both sides of this New Order.
It was when Viktor had asked if they had anything else to bring up, that Gideon finally found what he had been looking for. Seemingly uncharacteristic of his previous demeanour, the silver lattice work of his ocular replacements spun to life, brightening in the face of the bespeckled night curtained behind the Lord Marshal.
“This wouldn’t be a question, Sir, more so a request. If I am to be frank, I would ask to be demoted from my current rank of High Colonel, and reassigned into the Imperial Security Bureau’s enforcement division. As I stated before, my time on our former capital world was spent ensuring that all adhered to the Truth we hold so dear, and I feel I would be of no use to you, Sir, should my station remain the same.” The blood of my brothers stains my hands, and I wish to honour their sacrifice by ensuring such a terrible deed never happens again. These words had gone unsaid, and Gideon knew that it would be for the better if they remained behind the guarded veil of his conscious mind. “Thus, if you would grant me this, I shall become a Commissar and purge my soul of this corruptive guilt, by ensuring that others do not follow my path, Sir.”

The lights turned on with a flash, a automated protocol meant to waken the inhabitant of the room. Except on this day it was to late, my reflection in my computer screen only becoming more clear. This face was a shame to look upon, my hair a mess, my beard nothing but matted fur. A savage looked better then this, when had things started to go this bad. Why caused me to allow myself to fall into this state, never would I have allowed such looks in the past. Ahh, that was it though. What was there for me now? The men and women that served beside me were long gone. But a faded memory, and what more could I call them then that. Everything had been one mistake after another, why had I continued to play both sides of the line. Should have none, nothing good was going to come from it. Instead you attached to people that in the end you felt attachment turn to hate, and what bonds of comrades you had made turned in on themselves as the galaxy continued to pull us in different directions. So much time wasted trying to find a place you could call home, what a fool to ever believe I had a right to have such a place. You were a tool, you are a tool, used by the others. Both sides oozing lies, like a protective shell about them. Never again, would I play to there tunes. I will stand against both if I have to. Pushing back I stood up and moved away from my desk headed towards the refresher, i need a shower and shave. Besides the smell of booze was setting in and starting to make me sick.
I couldn't have been in there long when a ping sounded across my quarters. At first a bit shocked, it caused my eyes to spring open. Then only able to chuckle, I reached down and turned the water off. That was the comm system, probably the bridge trying to reach me. But what was so important that they would bother me now, Slightly irritated that i was unable to enjoy my shower longer I reached for the comm near the wall pressing hard into the button as if it was going to release some of my agitation. First off before you speak, are we under attack? Is anyone dead, injured, or other wise maimed? And what is our current location. Releasing the button, my attention turned towards the window as my right hand swiped across the mirror removing the steam that blocked my vision. I guess its time I did something about this, to look normal again seemed like an overdo sentiment. Reaching down and grabbing the sharp blade on my right, i began to regain some resemblance to my old self.
No, no, and currently just exited hyperspace of Yago Minor, Sir. We are running low on supplies and we made the decision to stop here to resupply.Reaching with my free had I hit the comm button once again.
Very well, reach out to orbit control. Announce our arrival and reason for being here, request permission to land. With that i shut the comm off so that they would leave me be for now. I would make my way to the bridge once I had finished here. The our arrival was a good thing, I was sure if we would make it a few more days with out more supplies. Yes I may not spend much time on the bridge these days, but I never turned my back on my men and the things they needed, I was always aware of their concerns and problems.
Upon the Deck the Admiral sighed. Why had he been stuck with such a difficult man. He motioned for the comm officer to open channel. Yaga Minor OTC, This is Redemption, Seeking a place to port so that we may resupply to some degree, and allow our men some RR while resupplying.
Hopefully this wouldn't turn out to be a dead end. Sitting in the command chair the admiral propped his head on hand and waited for a reply. Hopefully Master Tiro would be back by the time they replied.

Viktor eyed Gideon as he spoke against his assignment. Part of Viktor wanted to tell the man he would serve where he was told to serve or be court-martialed, but the other part remembered how tenuous his position was, and how he needed every good man if he had any hope of leading the rebirth of the Imperium. He puffed his cigar and had another sip of whiskey. "We do not have commissars, but what I will do for you, as a show of good faith, is recommend you for placement into the Ordinators. Now if there is nothing else, I have another call."
Viktor's tone brooked no further special requests. A star destroyer was in system, calling itself Redemption, and OTC was alerting him as they did for any imperial vessel. Ask them for their government and destination, then inform me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Redemption, this OTC. Government and destination?

The doors to the bridge opened with a hiss, just as the OTC had replied. Grunting i stepped out of the lift and headed towards my chair, my grunt drawing the attention of the crew. With out hesitation they went to stand, but were stopped short when I waved to them. Not now, there was no need for formality, besides I never really liked them anyways. Though how should I answer the man, I no longer aligned with any government. Nor at this time did I know where I was going. I reached into my right pocket and pulled out a silver container and motioned for them to open the comm's.
Yago Minor this is Tiro Saul, Commander of the Star Destroyer "Redemption". Currently we are headed on no direct course, in fact at this moment me and my crew are but wondering warriors. As for my Government, I no longer serve any one specific group. I am a Free lancer who fights to balance the scales of war. But if you must know what affiliations I have, then we may speak in person.
With that I opened the container and placed a cigar between my lips and lite it. Taking a long drag of it, my body fell backwards lazily into my chair. Now came the waiting game. I had served under, with, alongside so many factions that I could no longer remember all their names. Instead they blurred into fields of battle, and nights of drinking. Some faces were clear, while others were there op the time my mind, but just outside its reach. But I had come to the conclusion long ago, that I could not be tied to these factions. The some held codes I found some truth in, they continued to be split on one side or the other of the force. No now I would be a man who fought only to balance the scales of war. I whispered a small saying to myself as I released the smoke that lingered in my lungs.
There is no Dark, or light, there is only the force. The Balance must be kept.

OTC bounced the message up to Viktor who gave them a begrudging acceptance and arranged to meet with this Tiro Saul as soon as Captain Isond and Colonel Raith left. They in turn dutifully sent the message on back to redemption. Viktor found the name somehow familiar, and was curious to put a face to it.
Redemption, you have permission to dock. Tiro Saul, the Lord Marshal will meet with you personally. Yaga Minor OTC out.

Ordinators. Gideon had little knowledge of such an organization, save for what he had seen moments prior. From what information he could scavenge from the logs of the Ark of Glory, he had assumed that the title was the initiate rank of the Phoenix Imperium’s Knightly order. As he had little to no connection to the force as it stood, something he had been told when the Inquisitors scoured his body during his formative years at the academy, he was worried that he would’ve been mistakenly lumped into something that he would have little to no chances of redeeming himself, and proving useful to the Empire as a whole.
However, with the transfer orders signed in triplicate and swiftly processed by the internal computer systems, the former Colonel, and now Ordinator Initiate, had access to the appropriate information regarding his new position. The old title that he had used to describe the position he believed himself fit for, was drawn into the umbrella organization of the Ordinators. They, along with their Knightly counterparts, were the shield that would defend the Imperium from threats both external, and internal. Thus, even though he would not officially hold the title of Commissar in the days to come, his duties would be akin to them.
Satisfied with the newly revealed information, Gideon rose from his chair to stand alongside his comrade in arms. He could only hope that he would prove worthy of this recommendation, and rise to the challenge. If not, then he doubted that his life would be of much thereafter. Failure could not be tolerated from this point on, and as his thoughts began to reaffirm his mind through the route of success, a dark seed began to fester within the depths of his mind. Perhaps he would see more of his ashen revenants in the days to come, should he fail, and perhaps they would be the ones with the courage to draw his soul into their ranks - with a pull of the trigger.
The two respectfully saluted the Lord Marshal before being dismissed, and both the Captain and Gideon turned about to exit the room. It seemed they were not the last to visit this impressive system today, and they began to guess at whom could be rallying to this fallen banner. With the conversation leading no where, being that most of the notable personnel from the glory days of this Imperium were dead and gone, Gideon began to focus himself on what was to come with his new station. Captain Isond began to do the same, no doubt he would have to report to the Head of the Imperial Navy later on in the day, and have his crew divided among whatever ships remained in this paltry garrison. Who knows, perhaps he would find himself liking this new crew. Only time would tell if such a truth would become apparent.
Departing one another’s company as they reached the docked corvette, both men had headed towards their quarters and began gathering their things. When they were done, near an hour later, the two proceeded into the heart of the sprawling station and found their newly listed quarters.
There, they would wait until called into action once more.

As the comm reply came across there was sighs of relief on the bridge. I knew that the men were hoping for a break sooner then later, and some thought they might not get it here. But today truly seem to be smiling on us. The Admiral turned to speak to me, yet with a smile and nod he turned back around giving out orders. But right now i was more concerned with this Lord Marshal.... It had been some time since I last heard that title, 10 years maybe 20. Now i was going to have a private meeting with one. Though I still cant place a empire to the title, I'm sure it was of old importance. Standing I made my way towards the hanger bay, the admiral knew how to dispense the leave and would deal with the supplies needed. I caught a ride with the first group of men allowed to take their RR. First I would meet with the Lord Marshel then check back in with my admiral and see how the resupplying was going, if it was not finished before I returned. On the way there i got a chuckle listening to the men talk about there plans for RR, it was good to see their cheer was again. It had been a year since they last had some RR.
When the shuttle finally landed in the station, I waited tell the men emptied out. They deserved to take there break first, once i had taken care of my meetings I was going to join them for a short time. I looked around for who ever was going to escort me to this man to speak. I was curious what he would want to talk about, besides my affiliation. I couldn't figure out why that would be so important to know who i was associated with. I stood there arms crossed waiting for my escort.

A squad of stormtroopers marched into the hangar with perfect discipline. Their leader stepped forward and addressed a waiting man with his arms crossed.
"Tiro Saul. We are to escort you to the Lord Marshal's office. Follow me."
The stormtroopers fell into formation around the man and began marching to the office.
The Lord Marshal's office door was open, awaiting his next guest.

It was long before i caught the squad of storm troopers moving towards me. Well this was not a good way to start the meeting off, quickly i reached into my pocket grabbing forth a data pad and opened its link to the ship. As quickly as possible i typed out a small code, that would instantly be sent of to the Admiral and to my ship. I quickly tucked it back into my pocket afterwards and brought my arms to my chest crossing them and taking another drag on the cigar. Though part of the meeting with this Lord marshal was my fault, i had not been expecting to be met with such a welcoming party. The problem lied in me not know this man from a common criminal and I had men that instilled there trust in me, trust over their lives. And it was because if this I had activated a time clock, the count down would lead to a signal return to the ship and its full retreat out of the system. The only way to stop it now was if I called to the ship and gave the override sequence. At least if this meeting went sour my men might make it out with out issue. With the Admiral not far behind the first wave of men on leave, he would make sure to hasten the resupplying if possible, as to make sure they would be done before the clocked struck zero.
When the men finally came to me an spoke I could only smile and nod to them when they moved around me. An armed escort with my exits blocked, O this was turning into a fancy party now. I had at least one saber tucked under the cloth tied around my waste in case of an emergency, but I wanted to refrain from making its presence known. Following them as they took off, escorting me to the Lord Marshal's quarters I made sure to take mental notes of what ever parts of the station I could see. That way I would be able to find my way back, or at least remember where i was going in the case of having to return to this office escorted. They were not a chatty bunch, in fact besides stating where they were taking me, they had not spoken at all which made this trip rather long. Hard to make an impression on lower ranked men, if they wont speak to you. I would address them but there was a small amount of respectful fear that made me choose to wait and speak to there leader.
When we arrived at the office the men pointed me towards it. I thank them and gave a wave, trying to appear friendly. Now came the fun, time to sweet talk a pushy, rich, spoiled old man. I ran my hand across my face as I took another long drag of the cigar, I feel the shave will help with introduction. I finally looked like a human being, my face was smooth, my eyes slightly sunk in. The show of a man who had seen far to much time pass while awake. The scars and my eyes, o those bastard eyes of mine were the only things of true notice. The scars ran deep and wide, there was no hiding them you couldn't. But the eyes, they were a trick most people had never seen. One red though it had seem to lose some of its richness over the years, and the other blue with the same affect. Patting my tunic down and making sure I didn't look a total mess I stepped into the office and turn to face the man. Thats when my first mistake happened.
Hahahahaha
I couldn't help it. The laugh just forced its way out. My hand immediately came up to slap my temple, as I exhaled the smoke while laughing. It was a man alright, but not like I had worked myself into a worry about on the way here. No.. This was a man who had earned his title, both in blood and sweat. Obviously noticeable by his face, and the missing eye. Now things seemed so differently I'm sure I could make peace with this "Lord Marshal" he knew what it was like to be a warrior.
Regaining composer, I removed my hand from my forehead and move to take the cigar out of my mouth
First off, Lord Marshal i apologies about that outburst right there. I do not mean it, in any form of disrespect. More of laughing at my own stupidity. I bowed to him then raised only my head shortly[/] I am Master Tiro Saul, a humble warrior who only wish's to grace this station for a short time. Of course that also means that, we are here peacefully, and you will see that my men act so while they are here. Forcing myself back into a standing position, i placed the cigar back between my lips and took another Drag.

Belisarius stood up and gestured to a seat in front of his desk, pulling on his own cigar. He didn't bother to remark upon his outburst or subsequent apology, thinking only to himself about the irony of a humble warrior introducing himself as master. "Take a seat Master Saul."
Viktor poured a measure of whiskey into a glass and pushed it over to Tiro's side of the desk before retaking his own seat and studying the man. The force was obvious on him, and the unmistakable tinge of darkness. "Whom do you represent?"

I took a seat when he motioned towards it. I watched as he poured a drink then slid it over towards me. I took the glass and brought it towards my nose taking snife. It smelled and appeared to be whiskey. O, this man was finding a way to my heart quickly. I too the cigar from my mouth with me left, as I brought the glass to my lips and took a small sip. Letting it linger in my mouth to taste it before swallowing. Immediately that o so familiar burn took hold. I had been without whiskey for so long that I could help but taking the rest of the whiskey in just a few gulps. Causing me to shake my head as if it would help the burning filling.
I placed the glass on the table between us. If he so decided to fill it again I would be very happy, if not I was appreciative that he had given me what he did.
Thank you, Lord marshal. I have been with out good whiskey for several months.
Sooner or later. I knew that would come up, he just wouldn't leave it alone.
My answer still remains the same as my statement over the comms. I am a independent warriror who fights to even the field of battle if the reason is a just one. No matter where that side aligns itself. At one point in time I may have served with others. Those being the Dark Jedi Order, The Tarisian Empire. I've stood beside the Dark tide, The New Order of the Eye the jedi of several planets. Even flown with mercs. So if you must know I have fought with more then enough affiliations, and have friends all over. But I do not call any home anymore.
I leaned back into my seat and look the man in the face, he would see that I spoke the truth, and also see I feared not what he thought of it.

Viktor felt the man through the force, sensing nonchalance and no deception. Interesting. How a man such as he came to possess an imperial star destroyer was to remain unanswered for now. It is possible he was able to get one in the dissolution of another splinter of the once mighty Galactic Empire. Viktor poured him another glass and another for himself then spoke again. "You are now within the territory of the Phoenix Imperium. Were you aware of this?"
Again he reached out with the force, probing the man's emotions for any sign of deception or withholding. The continuation of the Imperium was not ready to be public knowledge quite yet.

Smiling I accepted the freshly poured glass of whiskey, as I took a drag of my cigar. I cocked my head to my right as he spoke. That name it was so familiar, it sat upon the edge of my tongue. When had I heard that name used? I could seen to draw upon that memory, bah o well. They Pheonix Imperium I knew of was long gone. I straighten myself up bring the glass of whiskey to my lips. Taking a sip I shook my head no.
No Lord Marshal im afraid I did not know. In fact it has been many of years since I last heard the name. I'm mildly surprised to hear it openly again

Viktor watched him, and sensing no deception, nodded gravely. "We are far from the height of our past, that is true, but we live on. The reason I ask you this is to determine if you had particular motive for being here. You say you have served various imperial interests over the years, have you ever been more than a mercenary?"
Viktor eyed him carefully, putting his whiskey down. He needed to get the measure of this man, see if he may find a use for him.

I sat back in my chair taking a long drag of my cigar, swirling the whiskey in the glass. There was a time when I had been a time when I actually believed in a few organizations enough to become apart of them. But that was because of the men in them, they had earned my respect on and off the battlefield. Though most if not all of them were gone in these days. Though if they were still around I feel i would still stand by them, if they were to call on me. Exhaling the smoke, I took a large gulp of my whiskey, enjoying the taste. Turning my attention back to the Lord Marshal.
Long ago Lord Marshal, long ago. Those few that I served with out of loyalty, respect, and a common goal are gone. It has been long since I have found anyone who stood for something worth devoting my life to it. So best to just make my money and enjoy what little time I have left.

Viktor leaned back in his chair, considering his words for a moment. "There is always something worth devoting yourself too, if you have the courage. Have you courage? True courage mind, I am sure you are brave enough for battle, brave enough to die fighting. But are you brave enough to live? That is the real question. Dying for a cause is easy, truly living for it is a real challenge."

Maybe this Lord Marshal was right, who knew. Maybe when the day came I might find this cause worth living for I might understand what he was asking me. But so far that had never happened, and I was unsure of what to say. I was being called out right here, and for once I was at lost for words. I downed the rest of my whiskey and placed the glass back on the table. [/color]
I am unsure Lord Marshal, but do not think I do not have the courage to. I have just not yet found a cause that I find worth of spreading, or living for as you say. Maybe one day it might happen. I might some day know what this true courage you talk about is. Yet the cause would have to be just, and beneficial to all. One that not built upon lies.
A smile crept across my face, I would honestly like to see that day. Finding something that was worth living for would be a difference, and maybe I could find some happiness in this. But it was only an idea for now.
