After his strike, he kept some distance between them as he slowly circled opposite her with the blade held in one hand. While it was slightly heavier than a normal blade, given its intention for training, it should not have caused her so much trouble No rapiers, I'm afraid. Got a couple sabers that have training modes, but you don't seem ready for those... Saber crystals can be a little finnicky around those without the Force... So I'm afraid it's training swords only available. Perhaps your skills have been greatly exaggerated. Such a shame... He pressed the attack this time, letting loose several strikes in quick succession, coming in for diagonal strikes from one strike to the next

She jumped backwards, but made extra effort to look like it was labored. The tip of the blade drug on the ground and first. Using two hands on the blade she held it in front of her, blocking blows. She tucked her chin and rolled forward. It was what someone her size would be expected to do against a larger opponent. She labored her breath with the distance. now, pretending to catch her breath. She was still waiting for the perfect moment to spring her surprise. Nothing so far had met her standards. She kept moving her head, hoping he wouldn't notice her lack of sweat.Wellll... She huffed This is interesting to learn.

He kept his blade between them as she did her tuck and roll. This little charade had gone on long enough. Damocles struck forward with the blade in one hand, knocking the blade off toward her left side, while he pulled his blaster with his free hand and shot a round at her right thigh aiming to graze it Enough... You done screwing around? I'm not your benefactor Akulas. Whether you live or die is no concern of mine. Pulling your punches like that is a fast way to getting killed...

AHHHH! What the... you kriffing hutspawn! It was not the worst pain she had ever experienced. The flexible armor and plastoid plate had done most of their job. It still hurt a lot. In training, she had shattered bones and joints, been cut and had muscles flayed. Bacta and other med treatments had done a good job of healing them. Still the surprise here made it worse. She never saw this coming. She felt in control of the situation. She felt like she knew the stakes an standards, and was playing to her strengths. She hopped around getting the blood to the injured area. It was really just painful Next time I will bring my blaster then! What the heck was that about! She gets a tight grip on her saber, abandoning the decoy stance, shaking her leg. Others from the camp had woken at sound of a blaster, they now had an audience. She noticed, but her focus was on the armored Mando in front of her. Her eyes had changed. No more joking and banter.

He had moved back a couple feet after letting off the grazing shot to her thigh, allowing Akulas a moment to hop off the pain. His blaster remained within his left hand as he stood in a slight sideward stance, his blade remaining between them I don't much care to be insulted Akulas... Oh woe is me, I am just a weak little girl who can't lift up a sword... Give me a break! He watched her correct her stance, smiling behind his helmet Don't overcommit to a bit, this isn't the training academy. This is the real world, and it won't conform to your expectations and standards. Now show me what you've got! He pushed forward again, going for a high strike downwards

Fine...Legs used to high gravity propelled her forward faster than a human should be able to move. Her arms were down with the sword parallel to the ground behind her. once she was in rand she swung the blade around and up to the chin of the armored warrior. He would move of course but then their blades would hit and he would feel what she had. Some onlookers who had arrived early were shocked at the shift, others were just shocked that a small human was moving with such speed and strength. She had abandoned any pretense of hiding her strength and speed.

Finally... Damocles shifted his blade around, bracing the flat of it against his left wrist since he did not have time enough to holster his pistol. The force of the impact sent him skidding across the dirt arena. But it gave him enough distance to holster his pistol before pushing the attack. If the need arose, he could easily draw the weapon again, but for now he wanted to see how well she performed in a fight

She gave no time to catch a break, no words, no faints, no catching her breath. She didn't need it, he may her strike was hard. She was already moving. She held the blade high as if she was going for an overhand chop. However, when she was a yard away, she dropped low in a roll. using speed to generate momentum in addition to raw power as she slashed at his knees in an upward slash.

She was finally showing him what he had been waiting for. Their blades met, blocking and parrying one another with different strikes. She was good. As she dropped and rolled, Damocles did the same off at a right diagonal. The blade grazing his armour as he moved from where he had previously been. He spun around quickly and kept his blade in a guard position. This is what he had wanted from the very start

The glancing blow made her feel kinda good. If these were vibro weapons, that would have at least been felt. She had the speed, strength, and endurance she wasn't planning on giving that up yet. She finishes her roll and plants her foot to drive to his new location. She runs at him and leaps sword raised coming down fast and hard, a second later her right foot comes out to kick in the upper thigh on her way down.

Damocles waited, and waited, steeling his resolve until Akulas had committed to her attack and leapt into the air. He raised his sword into a high guard position, the blade held vertically as he side stepped off to the right so that when she landed he would be standing at her exposed left flank. His right hand lifted off his blade handle, leaving his left hand gripping it as he used it to lock with her own sword. Allowing him to throw a punch with his right hand now that it was free

Akulas let him lock up her sword, she could break his grip if she needed to. She didn't follow through on the kick she had planned. Instead, she dropped down to that raised knee. She reached to grab Damocles heel to trip him. As she did, she pulled the sword down.

Feeling the weight come down on the sword, Damocles released the hilt. The sword was a lost cause, but that did not mean he was unarmed. He managed to barely move his foot clear of her hand as it grabbed at his ankle, causing him to over balance and fall backward. It was a rookie mistake, but he knew how to use this moment as he landed on his back and turned himself into a backflip and came back up on his feet. As soon as Akulas would move or stand up, a shot would ring out from behind her toward her already grazed leg. But this one not intended as a warning but to puncture her thigh and injure her

She kicked up and went for the finishing blow. He would have no chance to defend. She knew how this would go as she lunged forward to lay the blade against his throat. Do you yielllllllllll. AHHHHHHH! The armor took some of the blast, but it was a high powered. It could only deflect so much. The energy went through and punctured her quadriceps. The hole was small and clean, but it was still a burned hole in flesh and muscle. It missed the bone and didn't go all the way through. The fight was over. It hurt, but she was used to the pain. She was able to assess the situation. The shot came from the mando camp. She knew it wasn't to really harm, she could feel it was not critical with treatment, but to make sure Damocles didn't lose. Varp you! What is your doshing problem? I thought the honor was something you valued. Is losing that hard! She was pulling off her leg armor to put pressure on the wound and get the residual energy stored in the armor off the wound.

Medic! The familiar voice of Bishop rang out as she holstered her weapon and walked over and around Akulas, stopping at her side as she squatted down to inspect the wound she had inflicted. She pulled out a first aid kit and quickly applied a small bacta patch over the entry wound to stem the bleeding and prevent infection. Damocles slid his helmet off and tucked it under his arm as Akulas cussed him out What is my problem? it's that you wasted your time and edge. You had a perfect opportunity at the stat of this fight, but you committed too much to a feint. As for Honour? it is a thing for the dead and naïve. You will find no honour respected upon a proper battlefield. It's also a valuable lesson that you should never assume your opponent is alone. Your focus upon me, made you miss Bishop's movement to attack. I have 6 months to train you in competent combat against je'daii, so consider it started...

She had been arrogant. She was good but she had trusted too much of what she learned in the classroom. Classrooms taught general knowledge, which was good, but they let you make assumptions. Yes, most Mandos fought with a sense of honor and rules, but Standash didn't send her to most Mandos. She had met some that were friendly with the First Order during a number of training exercises. But she wasn't sent to them, she was sent here. She was foolish to expect things to be ordered. She would not make that mistake again. She wanted to put Bishop off her, the wound wasn't serious, and at worst it would scar. A momento to remind her of her mistake. That was just being dramatic. She was good at learning lessons and didn't need things like that. She would accept the Bacta and avoid the scar. The words he spoke were true, she could see that. But they weren't the reason. She still had much to learn, and if she beat him in their first fight she would stop trying to learn from him. He would know that. A system was in place in case she was about to win. Had she been ready to beat him quickly, the same thing would have happened. She smiled through the pain. His last statement caught her. She thought she was here for some special training, but she was never told the reasons or the specifics. She was here to learn how to fight Force users. Jedi, Sith, Ren, Imperial Knights, and things in between. She put away the political possibilities of this and focused on the challenge ahead. So that is why I am here.

Given Standash's penchant for compartmentalising information thus far, it did not surprise Damocles that Akulas had not been given too many specifics about the what and why of her being sent here. Such obedience made for good drone like soldiers, but that was all. One of the medics came hurrying in to the training arena and came to a stop beside Akulas, giving a quick visual examination of the wound and dressing that Bishop had applied. Damocles kept staring down at Akulas as everything started to dawn upon her Once the medic checks you out and confirms you're good to go, we'll meet back here and start going over some techniques to use... He nodded his assent for the Medic to help lead her away to the medic tent for a quick examination and application of any stitches and pain meds before Akulas would be cleared for continuing her training for the day

Akulas shook her head to the meds. The pain would go away on its own in a while as she got the blood flowing to her leg. It did really hurt, but there was no real damage. The armor had done its job. She was no longer glaring at Damocles, but at the rest of the company. She stood, bouncing on the leg. She found Bishop's eyes and locked in on them. It was very unlikely that the young Mando would be intimidated, but Aukulas would play the game. She stared daggers from the distance; slowly blinking from time to time, but never breaking the stare. The medic inspected the wound and asked Aukulas for things. She complied all without breaking eye contact.

Bishop was unphased as Akulas stared daggers at her. There was nothing personal in the matter, it was just business. Aruetii had a strange habit of taking everything personally. Perhaps her time with the Mando'a would rid Akulas of such notions. What ever the case, she turned back to the crowd and started motioning for them to disperse That's enough everyone, back to your posts! This isn't some leisure camp! Several affirmative oya's were heard from the crowd as they dispersed back to their shift changes and preparations for taking up their posts or coming off duty. Bishop also took her leave of the training ring to resume her own patrol duty. Damocles meanwhile watched and supervised as the Medics would lead Akulas away to the medical tent to attend to the minor but important medical aid

Akulas picks up her gear, still looking through the back of Bishop's head. It was never personal, but now this was a challenge to the Mando. Akulas was curious how this type of person would react. The fact that Akulas had beaten her already would way in the back of her mind, Akulas was sure of it. This band of Mando'a did not have the full honor tradition she expected and had heard from other Mandolorian groups, but Akuls knew it was there. She would play to that. Deep down, Akulas was angry that she was being taken into the medical tent, but she could not refuse. She knew that this was something meant to break her down and humble her in front of other members of the camp. She wanted to run, to get the blood flowing to the leg, to get it to heal, but she let the medic do his work. The treatment stung and really hurt more for the moment, but she could feel the healing. After an hour, she was done. The leg was numb, but she tried to work it off. She found Damocles and started the training.
After four months, she learned to fight in different ways. Her armor, though still the imperial plasteel issue, was a tool now. Gadgets were her friend now, cables, flames, and throwing weapons were becoming second nature. Damocles, Bishop, and others were good teachers. She also found out fully why the Mando'a were there. Not that Damocles flat-out told her. No, instead she had been building a relationship with the Mandos in the camp. Well most of them. Some, like Bishop, kept their distance from getting too close, but others were filling for her. She had that effect on people. They would teach her things but would ask her for advice. In talking she put pieces together. It seemed that there were people on Anobis that needed killing, Akulas hope that she had done enough to help. She was good and hunting down and eliminating problems. One night after a good day of training with the troops she approached Damocles by his fire, just the two of them. She had learned to be frank with him. She wouldn't give him the chance to tell her the plans, she would let him know that she knew and it was time to act on it. Have you been delaying your attack for me to be ready, or where you all not ready? If it's the former, I can tell you I am ready. If it's later, let me help you finish getting them ready. Winter is almost here and this camp won't be a place to handle the weather.
