Drev'starn was the capital city of Bothawui. It was located in a long, broad valley near the equator. It was Bothawui's largest city and had numerous parks, spacious malls and open plazas connected by wide, well-manicured streets. Commercial and business districts surrounded the public areas, radiating towards the tall mountain cliffs.

The lavish executive mansion reminded the old Bothan of everything he hated about governments. Everything was excessive, the size the luxury, everything about the residence. He longed for a simpler way of doing things. All of these thoughts he had learned to keep to himself, no one here shared his thoughts, and those that agreed with him were not in positions to do anything about it. So instead he kept it deep down. He often regretted his decision to enter politics, especially when his ulcers acted up. It still amazed him how much more stressful this life was than his old one in espionage.
The pulled into the motor pool. He didn't let the attendant have time to get around the limo and open his door, he did it himself much to the shock of the young driver. I know my way to the office, get this thing parked and shutdown before you use any more of the peoples fuel. He marched his way to the prime minister's office for what was sure to be an eventful meeting.

--Bwua'tu Compund--
Horkos had just returned to the relative safety of his clan's compound, a series of buildings, neighborhoods and businesses over which the clan had tight control. There was no location on the planet safe from intrigue and subterfuge, but the clan compounds were the closest to secure one could get. Advanced and complicated security counter measures, surveillance equipment and vigilant guards were hallmarks of the over 600 clan headquarters spread across the planet.
After uncloaking amongst his compatriots, he was rushed to the Patriarch of the Tu clan. From the time his mission had began, his day had been a blur of adrenaline and fear. Having been chosen to utilize the clan's most expensive Baragwin shadow armor and accompanying stealth field generator unit, Horkos' mission had been to infiltrate to Lon clan's consolidated shipping business and steal cargo manifests to prove collusion with Sith intermediaries. The mission had gone smoothly, the sophisticated stealth tech fooled scanners and allowed him to slip by employees and Lon family guards. Taking no more than 8 hours from intrusion to extraction, Horkos once again proved himself to be amongst the best spies of his race.
...
"Very interesting." Mused the Patriarch of the Tu clan. A regal bothan who sat behind an imposing desk. His cybernetic implants were downloading the data into the Bothan's head, allowing him almost instantaneous review of the shipping manifests. Perhaps a minute later, the bothan removed the uplinks from his head and pushed away from the table. He embraced Horkos and looked at him solemnly. "Thank you son. This is exactly what we needed to bring the Lon family into line."
Horkos embraced his father though he was concerned by the weight of the look in his father's eyes. As the patriarch's son, he was privy to sensitive information, but he had no idea what his father was alluding too. "What's wrong?"
"We've proven the benefits of joining this fledgling Galactic Alliance to most of the clans, however those with strong ties to the black market and the First Order remain staunchly opposed. In collecting this information on the Lon's who command several smaller clans, we now have the right to offer them a compromise..."
"I see..." Said Horkos slowly as a picture began to develop. "You are going to prove our strength and then allow them to continue their operations under our looking the other way. Thats why you demanded that the GA not be allowed on our planets surface in an official capacity."
"Indeed. All of life is move and counter move, our negotiations with the Galactic Alliance will be just as strategic. We must leverage our united 'support' for the Alliance against their military aid and the promise of steady orders and access to supplies for our shipyard." Said the Patriarch proudly. "We will move quickly to extort the Lon Clan. You must begin preparing for your position. The Combined Clans are eager to place our best and brightest amongst the bureaucracy of the Galactic Alliance. We will be demanding that you receive a high ranking position amongst planetary security. In addition, many of our rival clans wish you out of the picture of clan politics, it seems you've developed a reputation."
Horkos was shocked. "My specialty is in infiltration and sabotage, If anything I should be spying on the enemy."
"No." Said his father firmly. "It is because you are our best spy that you will make the Alliance's most invaluable chief of security. You'll use your talents to shore up the Alliance's leaky ship and perform counter-intelligence."

Caydence Naval Yards - Primary Conference Room, Third Floor
The conference room, situated on the middle-most floor of the sprawling complex that was Caydence Naval Yards, offered a modest view of the city proper through its large transparisteel viewport on the backside. The room itself held a delicate balance of opulence and practicality, with rich, polished wooden paneling on its walls adorned with art from all the world over, and its sparse arrangement of service tables, comfortable seating, and the centerpiece conference table, besides. Athen stood, looking out through the viewport with arms folded behind him, waiting for the delegation to arrive that would set events in motion for some time to come. The lot that would soon be in this room would decide the fate of billions - if not, trillions - of people. Athen had to believe resolutely in that fact if he was going to forge this path. Moving forward, it would likely be the only thing that would give him solace, aside from his loving wife and family.*
*There was a chime at the door, indicating that Athen's assistant, Riala, was arriving with the first half of the delegation. The door slid open, revealing the young Bothan female, escorting several Bothans and humans into the room. Among them were two members of the Bothan Council, Kelvan Ont'koran and Insira Fervse'dra, and three of the human members from the more-prominent portion of the Merchant's Guild. Athen crossed the threshold of the conference room and met each of them in kind, before asking Riala to show them to their seats. Shortly thereafter, another chime at the door sounded, and through the door stepped his other assistant, a human male named Anton, followed by two Iridonian males dressed in the BDU's of the Sector Rangers, as well as two more of their company. Athen had been briefed that their names were Kaz Del Oucoa and Borgo Stavrax, and had gone over each of their dossiers (at least the portions that weren't redacted in some way) with a studied interest. He took a moment to greet the Captain and Chief Warrant Officer before asking Anton to seat them amongst their civilian counterparts. He had arranged the seating so the group seemed intermingled, purposefully, so that it didn't seem as though they were being seated in opposition of each other. It was a calculated move, and one that Athen hoped would not alienate anyone in the group. As the lot of them settled in, Athen walked back to the head of the table at the opposite end and leaned over, resting his hands on the table's edge.He took a moment to take a sip from his glass of water on the edge there before clearing his throat, attempting to bring the meeting to an informal start.
"I would like to begin this evening by thanking everyone for agreeing to this meeting, and taking the time to travel all the way out here to my place of business to conduct these affairs. I do realize this may have caused some amount of inconvenience, but I assure you, the reasons for such methods are both necessary and have great bearing. Before we begin, of course, I'd like to offer my hospitality - if anyone would care for any refreshments, my assistants," He indicated the two who had escorted the delegation into the room "Riala and Anton will gladly accommodate you. We should have water, local juices - freshly-squeezed, of course - and I'll even throw in some of my private stock of alcohols, if you feel so inclined." He smiled, and there were a few light chuckles from around the room. "Otherwise, if everyone is comfortable, we shall begin."
He leaned away from the table, and was about to turn before abruptly pivoting back toward the table.
"Well, that is, I'd like to begin; however, there is one small matter that should be attended to." There was some uneasiness in the features of those present, but Athen pressed on. "The reason for this meeting, as it should be known to those present, has been made clandestine to the general public. No one outside of this room should have any idea as to its purpose, and anything discussed here should be treated with such secrecy, as not to allow for a breach of security and trust. I have personally vetted each individual in this room, and have done my utmost to ensure that our goals are aligned. We all have seen firsthand what being subservient to an Empire has cost us. In centuries past, your peoples have bore witness to what a totalitarian regime under rule of an emperor is capable of. Bothawui had taken a bold stance against such a dictatorship before, but it was not without its detractors. It is now, as it was then, we are seeing events unfold that will set our galaxy on such a path."
There was a slight pause, and in that breath, one of the humans from the Merchant's Guild took the opportunity to interject. It was the lone female among the humans, Reliit Selesora, who was known for her financial endeavors in the medical field.
"Forgive me, Mister Caydence, for my interruption. But what, exactly, is your concern at this point?"
Athen raised a pointed finger in her direction. With a light grin, he looked around at the others.
"Ah, perhaps that is the word. My...concern, as it were, is that there may be some among us that do not believe as the majority of us do - that we can no longer be made to serve an Empire, much like the self-proclaimed Emperor Delvardus II of the First Order would have us be. There is one among you who has even gone as far as to relay information to this 'First Order' by secretive means, and with little regard for the state of this planet or its people. No, instead, they've been selling this information to 'The Order' so that they may profit from the dismantling of our galactic government, and they've thought they were doing so with pure discretion. That, obviously, is no longer the case."
Those in the room began to shift nervously. Each one looked at the others, and Athen was keen on observing the one responsible with a passive glance, as not to draw attention to them outright. There were hushed whispers among them for a moment, to which Athen cleared his throat, causing the room to fall silent again.
"On a world such as this one, it should come as no surprise to anyone here that this could be possible. Even I could understand - albeit with a completely dispassionate view - the...draw that one would have to conduct such business. That being said, we have to also conclude that such an individual should be viewed through the scope of morality as one who is depraved and without conscience, and it is inconceivable - to me, at least - that they should be allowed to continue operating in secrecy amongst their peers. So, with that in mind, I am going to ask that the person - or persons - involved in such actions please remove themselves from this proceeding. This will be your only opportunity to do so without fear of reprisal. However, you should be made aware that - as you have been found out - you will no longer be able to continue your business with the First Order. I have taken measures to assure them that their 'agent' has been found out, and so your usefulness to them has likely come to an end."
A hand slapped the table. Everyone turned, noting that it was the Bothan Council representative, Insira Fervse'dra. Her normal elegant, friendly demeanor had all but dissipated, being replaced by a scowl that would have unsettled most beings. Athen, however, remained nonplussed.
"You dare speak to us, threatening us in such a manner?!"
"Madame Fervse'dra, this - what we are attempting to accomplish - has the potential to save hundreds of millions of lives. It brings the hope that we won't be made subservient to an Empire that cares little for the established government of an entire galaxy and instead threatens it with war, death, and destabilization. And you, along with your constituents are profiteering off of those very same lives that have been taken by these same...villains! You tell me, Councilor, tell me now that I am acting irrationally! Please...I would love to hear such a fiction!"
The room, again, falls silent. The female Bothan Councilor stood from her seat in defiance, sliding her datapads together and backing her chair away. Athen raised his hand, motioning for her to halt momentarily.
"I will honor my promise, Councilor. You are free to leave." He looked to Kaz and Borgo "Captain, Chief? If you could have your men escort her to her vehicle, please? I would be much obliged."

Sector Rangers - Bothawui. Caydence Naval Yards - Primary Conference Room, Third Floor.
Kaz had spent the better part of the last month getting acquainted with the locals. The Bothan people were quite interesting. Since joining the Sector Rangers, he had been everywhere in the galaxy. Or at least everywhere the First Order wasn't. After losing his home to a First Order invasion, he had gathered those that had stood with him and brought them to the Sector Rangers. It had been a difficult transition, for everyone, but it had made them stronger. And given the state of the Galactic Alliance and the galaxy in general, strength was certainly something they could use more of. Sitting in the conference room of Caydence Naval Yards, he knew that Mr. Athen Caydence, the owner of Caydence Naval Yards, was a man of vision. He was a well respected business man, and he had many friends withing the Bothan government and the Merchant's Guild. And he had enough pull with in what remained of the Alliance to have them, perhaps the last active unit within the Sector Rangers, brought here. Something big was brewing, that much was clear. However, he wasn't one to pry for more information. Even with his rank as a Captain, he wasn't made privy to a lot of classified information.*
*With his Chief Warrant Officer, one Borgo Stavarax, seated beside him, he merely listened to Mr. Caydence as he spoke. Dressed in the olive drab battle dress uniform of the Rangers, his uniform sported the Ranger's insignia on the left shoulder, his last name on the right side of his chest and his rank plates on his shoulders. The clean and neatly pressed uniform was mostly the typical olive drab of the military, with polished obsidian buttons and gold stitching. Strapped to his right thigh was his side arm, a DL-44 blaster pistol. Not that he ever intended to use it at this point, as the Bothans had been quite welcoming of the eighty men that Command had sent here. Along with the Velderer, a PB-950 Patrol Boat, and two CR25 Troop Carriers, the Sector Rangers has been sent, at the behest of Athen Caydence, to secure the Galactic Alliance's holdings. Or at least those that had remained. After the Alliance's defeat on Dathomir, the Alliance was hemorrhaging resources, ships and people at an alarming rate. Defectors, were the highest cause of that right now, with the death toll pulling in second. The Alliance was on it's last leg. He knew that. And he was certain Mr. Caydence knew that as well. And Kaz got the feeling that Mr. Caydence had a plan for that. And finally, Caydence addressed the Wookiee in the room. Kaz had been briefed on the potential of First Order infiltrators among the Bothan government. And clearly Caydence was one step ahead of him, in that regard. Keeping a neutral expression, the pale Zabrak merely watched as it played out. The other two men accompanying him were standing on either side of the door to the conference room. As the situation peaked and Caydence called the Bothan Councilor out, she began gathering her things in preparation to storm out of the building. Halting her, even if momentarily, Mr. Caydence asked if he or Borgo could have their men escort the Councilor to her vehicle. With a short nod, Kaz pushed himself back from the table and rose to his feet. In the usual, by the book tone, he issued orders to the two men standing watch at the door.
"Miller, Cruz, please escort the Bothan Councilor to her vehicle."
The two men, human males, looked at him for a moment. With a slight nod to them, they moved over to the Bothan Councilor.
"Ma'am, if you will come with us, please."
Returning to his seat, Kaz watched as the Bothan Councilor continued to huff over the accusations that Mr. Caydence had just hefted in her direction. Serious charges, with a very serious sentence, if they turned out to be true. But Kaz had learned, after the invasion of Iridonia, to reserve his judgement until he had all of the facts. And right now, he didn't have all the facts. Damming accusations, sure, but there surely was more to the situation than Mr. Caydence was letting on. And probably for good reason. Casting a glance over to Stavrax, he then focused his attention back to the man at the head of the table.

Third Floor, Primary Conference Room - Caydence Naval Yards, Bothawui
Chief Warrant Officer Borgo Stavrax, sat beside Captain Del Oucoa while the rest of his squad patrolled the hallways that lead to the Conference room. Borgo was dressed in the standard issue olive drab battle dress uniform of the Sector Rangers. One of his DH-23 blaster pistols was in a shoulder holster on his left side while the other pistol was holstered on his left hip. He listened to Mister Caydence spoke to the members of the delegation, he had to admit that Athen had a way with words. Borgo watched as Captain Del Oucoa ordered the two human Sector Rangers in the room to escort the Bothan Councilor out of the room and to her Vehicle. The Charges that laid before the Bothan Councilor were serious ones, Borgo knew from his time when he help led the Iridonian Resistance that people would normally take the easy path when presented, it takes a strong will to stay on the more difficult path. He looked at Kaz out of the corner of his left eye then focus back on Mister Caydence, the man with the vision.
Corporal Sykes, patrol - Third floor, North Hallway, Caydence Naval Yards, Bothawui
Damian walked his designated patrol path down the north hallway, unlike the Captain and the Chief he was wearing the standard issue Sector Ranger combat gear. So far everything was running smoothly, which was good since it's been a long time since they had an easy assignment. Although that was most likely because easy assignments allowed one's mind to wander, and Damian knew that after everything that Borgo and Kaz went through during the First Order's invasion of their home and the aftermath of becoming resistance fighters for however short lived that was to joining the rangers and tracking down criminals of the Alliance. Now it seemed likely the Alliance would fall and the galaxy would be at the mercy of the First Order, which would explain why they were here. Damian walked a bit further before updating the others via commlink.
Sykes reporting in, North hallway is clear.
Specialist Ward, patrol - Third floor, West Hallway, Caydence Naval Yards, Bothawui
Clark walked up and down the west hallway, wearing a sleeveless version of the sector ranger gear. Clark wasn't one to stand around and do nothing he preferred action, which is why he was put undercover during his IAF days. Clark grinned as he thought about the days before the invasion, were the worst thing that had to worry about was the Red Vortex. If only, he thought. Clark answered Sykes report.
Copy that, West Hallway is clear as well.
Lance Corporal Lydia Zinn, outside of The Primary Conference room, Third Floor - Caydence Naval Yards, Bothawui
Lydia stood at her post and watched as Cruz and Miller exited the room with a Bothan Councilor, she was curious as to the reason behind her revmovel, but she would refrain from asking as she was sure that Mister Caydence had a good reason. From where she was standing she could hear bits and pieces of the discussion coming from the conference room. She received the reports from both Clark and Damian, she tapped the commlink in her ear and replied.
Copy that, continue patrolling and report in again within the hour.

Caydence Naval Yards - Primary Conference Room, Third Floor
There was a palpable and somewhat-awkward tension in the room as the Madame Councilor gathered her belongings and prepared to leave. She muttered and fussed beneath her breath, of course, but what made it truly awkward was how she did her utmost not to look at anyone else in the room while she gathered everything.Athen was taking a calculated risk, allowing her to leave. He knew that. And even as she reluctantly made her way out of the room, he had to fight not to rescind his decision or alter it in any way. As the door slid shut behind her and the two human members of the Sector Rangers, the dark-furred Bothan that now sat alone at the table, Councilor Ont'koran, sighed heavily as he addressed the room. His voice was - as one might suspect - both calming and yet oddly gruff in tone.
"Master Caydence, while I am deeply-embarrassed for my coworker's poor representation of character - and I want to take the opportunity, now, to apologize on behalf of the Council for her actions here today - I can't help but wonder; is it wise to let her go in such a fashion?"
There were a couple of whispers around the room, and Athen had paused for a moment to contemplate his answer before saying anything. In that breath, the apparently-vocal Miss Selesora spoke out.
"I certainly don't see the logic in it. There is nothing to keep her from selling us all out, and we don't even know the entirety of what we're here for. I mean, yes, the informal declaration is that we are all supporters of a galactic, democratic government; but are we now risking our lives to support such a claim?!"
Athen half-expected the room to break out into a heated debate, but was oddly-surprised to find that the room had fallen quiet, with most of the eyes in the room now looking to him. He inclined his head for a moment, looking down at nothing in particular before raising it to look back at the room. In another odd move, he swept the unbuttoned breast of his jacket to his sides as he slid his hands in his pockets, choosing to address the room in a calm and calculated tone.
"If I am allowed to be entirely-transparent with you folks, I am somewhat at war with myself regarding this decision. On the one hand, I believe that she has committed treasonous acts against the people of Bothawui and should be brought under the most-punitive measures associated with that claim. Councilor Ont'koran may very well choose to follow through with that at the conclusion of this meeting and I would not fault him for it." He motioned to the Bothan male "Should you choose to do so, I will - of course - submit all of the evidence my investigators have found regarding her dealings with the First Order." He returned his gaze to the others in the room "On the other hand, I was not bluffing when I stated I had taken measures to ensure her involvement with the Order was at its end. Every contact that she has made - or at least the ones we were able to find - has been 'burned'. If she attempts to make contact with them again, I suspect she will find it a very cold reception, at best. My...logic in this is that once she realizes she has no safety net, she will capitulate and offer up some measure of counter-intelligence to us in order to secure her safety. Whatever form that 'safety' takes will be up to our government. What is important to note is that she has been found out, and we can move forward now knowing that what is said here is no longer in jeopardy of being discovered by our opponents."
Athen chose his words carefully, using words of inclusion rather than division. "We" and "Us" were the simplest way to secure allies, and you could often gauge how closely certain people held you based on whether or not they became defensive of how you used the terminology. "There is no 'we'" often became the phrase of dissent, whereas - like the Lady Merchant had subconsciously already done - a person's allies would often find themselves expressing that solidarity by using the same words of inclusiveness.Standing there for a moment, Athen contemplated how best to transition back into his previous speech. He removed his hands from his pockets, suddenly brandishing a small trinket in his left hand. It looked to be the size of a small code cylinder with a simple button on it. He rubbed it in his hand a bit, and gave a light chortle as he looked back at the room.
"Hmm...I, ah...have a bit of a confession to make." His words drew a curious glance from those of the Merchant's Guild, and the Bothan Councilor chose to settle back into his seat, seemingly bracing himself for whatever was to come. "I am, for the lack of a better term, now almost-entirely bankrupt."
More unease shown around the room. Some of the people present began to speak excitedly to each other. The Merchant's Guild; they smelled blood in the water.
"I have spent the better part of these last seven years watching, paying attention through the financial forecasts and doing my best to remain apprised of the political situation, determining that the Galactic Alliance would soon be on its last legs. In that time, I have taken it upon myself to ready our world for the coming storm. Both myself and my brothers, Nigel and Caide, have had to do some clever bookkeeping, making more than a few clandestine deals of our own, and - I'm not sure if you were aware - made several 'cutbacks' to my own workforce, attempting to put together something that I'm hoping you will find impressive."
Athen turned over the small cylinder in his hand, depressing the button on it. A small red light began to blink rapidly.
"A subspace transceiver, ladies and gentlemen. Meant to do a bit of grandstanding, if you'll indulge me the opportunity to do so. If you will direct your attention to the viewport behind me, particularly in the direction of the afternoon sky?"
He moved to one side of the viewport, and within moments (due to a well-timed/plotted hyperspace micro-jump), a large ship reflected the light of the setting sun upon its grey and red-striped hull. A Nebula-class Star Destroyer, magnificent in both view and scope, settled into high orbit above the planet. All appropriate clearances had been granted prior to this moment for this display, and Athen finally had the attention of everyone in the room.
"My esteemed colleagues, I would like to present the 'Ardent Resolve'. The flagship of the new planetary fleet for Bothawui."
There were more than a few gasps, and a couple of the people in the room even began to applaud. While they were still in the process of taking it all in, Athen seized the opportunity to grab the small golden remote on the windowsill, depressing a few buttons and bringing up a holographic projection in the center of the conference table. Several other ships appeared on the display, the makings of a small fleet.
"I have been spearheading a project in the Outer Rim, being incredibly-careful not to draw attention to the resources I have been acquiring or the methods of transport for those materials. The fleet is very near completion; only a small amount of outfitting, production, and testing is needed to achieve this hallmark. It has cost me a considerable sum, all in order for me to be able to do so in secret so that I would have this opportunity to say to you now - we have work to do."
The patriarch of the Caydence family did not look more alive than in this moment. It was true, he had drained almost every personal account, dissolved partnerships and allowed buyouts of nearly every private refinery and subsidiary he owned in order to achieve this monumental task. The workforce he had 'cut' was a voluntary project that he secretively spirited away to this 'black site' in the Outer Rim. Athen had been providing for them, making sure they were well-compensated and allowed brief intervals of respite before being shuttled back off into the black to continue the project. The satellite shipyard was also largely-automated, with several systems and ships being put together almost entirely by machine and droid alike. Final systems checks and quality assurances were handled independently by members of the company, of course, but it helped to have some of the work managed by automated means. This, here, was the declaration of Athen Caydence to the galaxy that even if very few stood alone, they could still stand, and weather the tides of Fate, come what may.

Caydence Naval Yards - Third Floor Conference Room - Bothawui.
As the Councilor was escorted out, he knew that even if she wanted to try something, his men would keep her in line. Politely. It was risky, he agreed with Ont'koran, but Athen was a calculating man. This was all a calculated risk. And obviously it was better to allow it to play out this way than any other. Regardless, the entire building was secured by the Rangers. Stavrax's team was patrolling the halls between here and the exit and his team was either on overwatch outside or patrolling the grounds. As the ordeal with the female Councilor was wrapped up, Athen wasted no time moving forward.*
*Paying close attention to how Athen was speaking, rather than to what he was saying, Kaz discerned two things. One, Athen was one helluva public speaker. He was articulate and well spoken. And he chose his words carefully. Being naturally charismatic also aided him in this regard. And two, he was a very motivated and determined individual, selflessly so. He bankrupted his own company to protect Bothawui. Not something that most would consider doing. But Caydence was an exception to the rules, apparently. And finally, he clicked the subspace transceiver, plucked a particular golden remote up and opened the blinds. Above the city, in the evening sky, a Nebula-Class Star Destroyer came into view. The 'Ardent Resolve'. The flagship of the fleet to protect and defend Bothawui. Incredibly impressive, to be sure. But the one question that lingered in his mind was, would it be enough? Having witnessed first hand, the destructive powers of the First Order during their invasion of Iridonia, would Caydence's preemptive motives be enough to stem the tide? The Alliance was failing to keep the First Order at bay. The tentative peace that had been brokered between them was shattered. Last he had heard, Dathomir was under First Order invasion. Though that was months ago. At this point, he knew nothing of what was transpiring beyond the Bothan homeworld. And that troubled him. But for now, he would continue to listen and observe. Ranger HQ had sent him here for a reason, and it was becoming much clearer. And he wasn't one to question his superiors. At least not in a setting such as this. So he would wait and pose his questions once they were no longer under the direct scrutiny of the public. They needed hope more than anything else, and he wasn't about to dash that hope by questioning Athen's motivations. But so far, he was impressed. The small grin on his face was evidence of that.

Third Floor, Primary Conference Room - Caydence Naval Yards, BothawuiBorgo watched and listened to Mister Caydence as he spoke. As the Nebula-Class Star Destroyer appeared above the city, Borgo began to feel something that he hadn't felt since before the Invasion of his homeworld, hope. Soon thoughts of whether or not that would be enough raced into his mind, since he and his squad have experience fighting the First Order though pointless in the end as the leaders of Iridonia were betrayed from within and submitted to the Man who lead the Invasion, The Tyrant King. It was a good thing that Athen discovered Ms. Fervse'dra's true allganice before she could cause any real trouble, since he would have hated to see another world fall victim to betrayal. Borgo was interested in the rest of Athen's plan/Agenda, and it was becoming clear as to why Ranger High Command sent him, Kaz and the others here. Borgo having served several years in the IAF was good at hiding his facial expressions, but at this moment it would not appear that way as he grinned and continued to watch and listen.

Caydence Naval Yards - Primary Conference Room, Third Floor
Now that he truly held their attention, it was time to take the presentation to the next level. The crew responsible for operating the "Ardent Resolve" was none other than the engineering team responsible for outfitting the destroyer, led by Athen's eldest son, Vance. They had spent the last few months finishing product testing, putting the "Resolve" through her paces and clearing out partial areas of asteroid fields in the process. The vessel was every bit as impressive as they'd hoped for, according to the reports that Athen had read. Since Athen had his son on the ship close by, he had decided to use him as part of the presentation.Depressing a few buttons on the golden remote, he soon had a viewscreen with Vance standing in plain view up on the transparisteel viewport. It was standard smart-technology, and a nice added feature to have for Athen's conference room.
"Good...evening, isn't it, father?"
Athen smiled.
"Yes, yes it is. Good evening, Vance." He addressed the room. "Ladies and gentlemen, my son; the one that I placed in charge of this project." Turning back to the viewscreen, he continued. "Glad to see you made the trip okay." He received a nod from the screen from Vance, indicating that now the pleasantries were aside, he could focus on the task at hand. "If you would, son, I'd like for you to explain the next portion of our presentation."
Nods "Of course. Ladies and gentlemen of the delegation, I'd like to present to you, the L.O.B.O.S."
Another green projection appears in the center of the table, with a sophisticated image of what looked to be a multi-tiered hexagonal platform connected by several pathways. It was an enlarged image of the original prototype, and its complexity was readily made apparent to those sitting in the room.
"The acronym stands for 'Lexatronic Omni-Brain Operating System'. It is a multi-tiered, networked droid intelligence comprised of several incredibly powerful processing units; and it is going to change the future. Its original purpose is most certainly a military-grade application, but I have hopes that this technology will surpass that expectation down the line and allow us to integrate it into our very way of life."
Athen took a moment to interject.
"Would you be so kind as to explain what it is that the L.O.B.O.S. is designed for, son?"
"Of course, father. The L.O.B.O.S. is going to be a networking tool that will allow our ships and our soldiers to communicate instantaneously in the field, not only by maintaining constant lines of communication, but by sharing the experience."
There was a pause in Vance's speech, as if to allow the room a moment to try and grasp the information being presented.Athen basically continued the spiel, asking the obvious questions to move the conversation along.
"And could you explain what you mean by 'sharing,' please?"
"Yes. Well...as warfare is being conducted, the most-difficult aspect to attain is perception. One unit moving in one direction is usually responsible for maintaining independent fields of vision in order to increase the ability to survive and ensure success. This technology would increase that effectiveness by interlinking visuals through a massive network, allowing for an almost 'hive-mind' perception on an unprecedented scale."
One of the human males from the Merchant's Guild, Telvorn Lopp, was the next to chime in.
"You're suggesting that you've managed to create a virtual intelligence capable of that sort of feat? How?"
"I'm glad you asked. The L.O.B.O.S. was originally an artificial intelligence, a warfare suite that was being used to conduct military operations on a small scale by aiding communication and committing cybernetic espionage. It was a single platform, much like one of the single hexagonal tiers you can see in the projection."
As he spoke, the projection blinked from green to red repeatedly, indicating the whole of the design. Following that, one of the tiers blinked from green to yellow, and the projection changed from the multi-tiered setup to single out one hexagon, focusing on it.
"We then, basically, daisy-chained several of the AI's together, 'asking' them to, essentially, 'sit down, shake hands, and work together.' The result, after many iterations, is what you're seeing here. Their synaptic processing capability is beyond anything we were able to project with our models. And we're discovering new capabilities every day. As it learns from us, and in turn, adapts, it is prioritizing fields of study, implementing new stratagems, and enhancing our capabilities ten-fold due to the knowledge it continually cultivates."
It was then that Athen decided to interject.
"And it was this development that spurned yet another endeavor. One which I had to call on Miss Selesora to assist me with, as it happened to involve a hefty amount of medical research. If we were intent on using the L.O.B.O.S. to the maximum effect, we would need to consider that our own physical capabilities may need a bit of a boost as well."
He motioned to her, and she gave an incline of her head as she slid her datapad over a small sensor built into the conference table. Several data files began popping up on it, opening and closing as they were sent to the table's gathering collection of knowledge. Several images began to appear on the holoprojection as though they were medical charts. Diagrams of DNA research, cellular breakdowns, and graphs of experiment results all came up on the display. Athen gave everyone a moment or two to look them over, and then continued.
"What you are seeing here is the principle research from the days of the Old Republic, during the Clone Wars. This specific research revolves around their earlier efforts with the Advanced Reconnaissance Commandos. Although I am of a mind that we shouldn't tempt Fate too often, the advantages that this research could offer should not be overlooked. Especially in this case, where this advanced intelligence and reaction timing could allow our soldiers to navigate the field of battle with even greater speed and efficiency."
There were several nods from the group, although Athen could tell that a couple of them were not entirely convinced. He figured he would give them a moment to think it over.
"I suppose I should state clearly and summarize what my plan actually is. Which is to say, my intent is to build a planetary defense fleet with the enhanced capabilities of superior troops being aided by the technological prowess of a hive-mind intelligence. I should also state that part of my expenditure has gone to securing high-grade droid troopers from Tendrano Arms, which will effectively be an extension of the L.O.B.O.S. system itself, once we are able to test and implement it. All in all, what we are attempting to do here will require a much more concerted effort from the parties present within this room. And so, with that being said, I'm willing to open the floor to any questions that you may have."

Caydence Naval Yards - Third Floor Conference Room - Bothawui.
Despite being a highly educated individual, most of the technical jargon that Athen's son explained to them was, quite frankly, beyond him. But the gist of it stuck. Make a better soldier. That was the bottom line. And Kaz was oaky with that. Making a better solider, in small numbers, had the ability to completely stem the tide of most conflicts. As history would indicate. And knowing that the next logical step in Athen's grand scheme would require volunteers, Kaz couldn't let anyone else volunteer until he was certain that all of the errors and mistakes were mended in the program. Rising to his feet, the Zabrak cleared his throat and spoke.
"I volunteer to be your first test subject, under my terms, sir. It succeeds and more can follow in my footsteps. It fails and the project is benched. Sound fair?"
Kaz was a military man, to the core. And he couldn't, in good conscience, allow for anyone else essentially sacrifice themselves to this project until it was more than marginally successful. Theories were one thing. Putting said theories to practical use was an entirely different matter. One that would either make or break Athen's game plan. But, given the state of the galaxy, his personal choice was obvious. If this succeeded, Athen got his soldiers. If it failed...well, Athen was a very tenacious and resourceful individual. He would figure out his next move readily enough. Besides, if anything happened to him, Borgo was more than qualified to take his place. He was a tactical thinker and a soldier to the core, like him. He'd manage the remaining Rangers if the worst should happen. But Kaz was confident about his decision to volunteer. And he was confident in Athen's abilities.

=The Office of the First Secretary=
Baron Gorgano came to visit the elected head of the Bothan Council, a certain Drashk, who had served as the legislative leader of the Bothans for three terms now. A few days had passed since Graemon spoke with General Endor and he desired to gauge the interest of the Bothans and perhaps gain their willing and voluntary membership into the New Rebel Alliance. A number of their own had joined the Free Worlds Navy out of a desire to perform deeds as their ancestors had done for the Rebel Alliance, the New Republic, and the Galactic Alliance before. Bothans had been one of the founding member species of the New Republic after the Battle of Endor after all.
What would transpire, witnessed by a handful of military officers of the Free Worlds Navy and notables of the Bothan government, would be an in depth discussion between the Baron and the First Secretary. Graemon outlined the New Rebel Alliance, give his personal opinion of its leader as well as another notable of the Coalition government that had joined him, and did his best to tug at the strings of the Bothan's past and association with the democratic governments of the galaxy. If they could be gained, it would be well-earned victory, considering the Bothan shipyards and the expertise of its SpyNet that would be an immense boon for the New Rebel Alliance. Not to mention, a bedrock from which something could come from.

Within the Assembly of the Combined Clans, a mass of senators and officials, representing the whole of Bothan Space, the various tribes, and a number of businesses and major interests, gathered at the behest of First Secretary Drashk. All knew what this was as a defining moment in the voting on Measure 628-B, also known as 'The Alliance Bill' which would bring Bothuwai, and her industries, into the sphere of the New Rebel Alliance and seek to aid the organization in their struggle against tyranny, despotism, and renewed Imperialism in the galaxy. There were all manner of opinions, stances, and views that gathered together as parties and coalitions discussed the best interests for the Bothan species and their home. The First Secretary's party, the 'Democractic Union', already showed strong support and had their allies readily available. The strongest opposition was a near-isolationist bloc, led by the Kothlis Coalition, who viewed this as a wrong decision as it would put their sector at risk.
Eventually the lines began as the parties voted, then came military officers, followed by business representatives, and, lastly, the varying independent interests who had political power in the Assembly. The tallies were made as the voting went on and numbers were checked. Graemon Gorgano, sitting with a delegation of his own portion from the NRA, watched and waited for this was to be the defining moment. Eventually, it came for the First Secretary and Deputy Secretary to cast their votes. When this was done, the poll closed and the tallies were concluded.
When this was done, the First Secretary took the podium to speak.
=Drashk= Through the most democratic expression of our free speech, our rights as living beings, and in the name of republics, the Combined Clans Assembly has voted... to support Measure 628-B! Bothuwai, and the Bothan people, shall support the efforts of the New Rebel Alliance in ensuring democracy is preserved and is revived!
Quite the clamor followed as the measure was passed, giving the Baron Gorgano a chance to breath. He could now report this success to the General Endor and their allies over at Hoth. With the support of the Bothan Defense Fleet, the SpyNet, and their shipyards, the Alliance had gained quite the prize and industry.
