As O'Rathallie and O'Maolchonaire spoke of the social condition of the Greater Universe and then trying to place Maureen and The Raven into that History, Grace and Boland too spoke. Where there concern centred was on what exact place it would be that The Raven eventually, inevitably would collide with Something and smash the poor little girl like a fly on a windshield. In the sky the pair, Maureen and The Raven cruised at lightning speed. Now our Friends at Myth Busters having proven thar Converse at such heights and speed is impossible, hence they obviously were not talking. However, neither of them needed speech for they could communicate via melding minds. And as Grace and Boland stood awaiting doom The Raven suddenly dived for the surface. We they sailed in at breakneck speed Boland closed tight his eyes and placed left hand over those of Grace. They consequently missed the picture perfect land on a tree branch but ten feet above them. The child dropping landed effortlessly on her feet, a beaming smile on face -Maureen- "Boland! Boland! I went flying!" And on and on and on she went. Both adults but moments before were filled with sorry and furry but this was swept aside by relief. Hugs, kisses and all that and at last they all sat. The Raven landed effortlessly on the blind side shoulder of Grace. Not even he could Foresee what the two Sean chai had.... May the Good God pity the infidels....

The two seasoned IF officers hear the dialogue between O'Rathallie and O'Maolchonaire to understand the direction the two were going in and the conclusion. And both Colonel O'Dubhui Sgt Slaughter Both shared this opinion. So between the two they also quietly debated how best to approach such a move. Other considerations did not call to the wayside but Maureen and The Raven became central in their planning. Anything this far had at best spontaneously developed or at worse been completely coincidental. And as consequence neither incident engendered much if anything positive. This possibility? It was beautiful. If it was played right. Sgt Slaughter piper up -Sgt Slaughter- "She must have the very best PPE." Nodding in agreement his stated -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Yes, yes; that's a given sergeant." Right hand now chopping down at the air with each word from his mouth -Colonel O'Dubhui- "But I'd be more concerned about what protects them from her...." On a roll he expanded - Colonel O'Dubhui- "She will have the art of diplomacy pounded into her head but...." Gaze catching Slaughter - Colonel O'Dubhui- "But we must pray that they do not allow arrogance to lead them into a very very bad position." The sergeant nodded in agreement. And it was The CO who called out -Colonel O'Dubhui in the Ancient tongue- "Mairin! Tar anseo chugam!!! Anois!" The bodhran beat continued and a sudden solo piece howled out on Uillean pipes then as it screeched to a halt the drum beat picked up again

Now sitting in a tight setting with the two Sean chai and IF officers but at the moment quite removed from the dialogue, both Grace and Boland lifted heard at the call. So to was The attention of The Raven, now perched on the woman's shoulder. The hound to was alerted and ran by the side of The child as she answered to the call -Maureen- "Coming!" As she arrived and took a chair beside Boland it was Grace who spoke - Grace- "Alright.... Let us all in on this business." All faces, that being, Grace , Boland, Mareen, The Raven and even The hound faced O'Dubhui, Slaughter, O'Maolchonaire and O'Rathallie in anticipation And the drum roll carried on. But answer not coming quick enough Grace asked again, politely but with authority -Grace-'"Gentlemen.... What's the game? "

O'Maolchonaire cleared his throat then said -O'Maolchonaire- "Good question mo Thiarna. I myself am becoming confused with this nonsense, so let's get on with it shall we?" The question of course was a cultural mannerism not intended to demand answer verbally but inspire action. Get your arse moving as it were. O'Rathallie simply nodded in agreement but said nothing. Both men downed glasses, refilled then lighting pipes sat back and waited. And O'Rathallie poured refills for O'Maolchonaire and himself, plus a shot for Grace and Boland

Sgt Slaughter sat back observing but Colonel O'Dubhui nodded as Grace spoke and replied -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Maith go leor.... I'll lay this all out as we see it." Himself speaking for both Slaughter and himself and he hoped the others . First turning to the little girl he asked -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Ever heard the term PPE?" Of course not awaiting an answer he addressed all - Colonel O'Dubhui- "Personal Protective Equipment is what that mean honey."

At the mention of PPE both O'Maolchonaire and O'Rathallie shot glances at Colonel O'Dubhui. It was O'Rathallie who cut in -O'Rathallie- "You know when that question rose as part of the discussion between Torna and myself.... " And O'Maolchonaire finished the thought -O'Maolchonaire- "We felt that they might have more worry about PPE than the little girl or that Demon shite hawk." O'Rathallie shrugged in agreement

The pair listened. Closely. At the assertion questioning just who should be most concerned about PPE Slaughter barked a laugh as did O'Dubhui. It was nothing but truth. Still, the hardened officer chimed in -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Let us get a right understanding here: a person so much as breaths on this child after I get a hold of them... well."Wearing his best PR smile -Colonel O'Dubhui - "I begin with a full body cavity search... with a steak knife."The rugged officer's words left little effort to the imagination. His track record readily supported his words. With his position established he concluded -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Now, with that knuckle dragging vow noted, we must always remember that she is a child." Seeking out and locking eyes with Grace the colonel concluded - Colonel O'Dubhui- "She must have the best PPE at our disposal." Slaughter wrote notes as O'Dubhui spoke. Sitting up straight Slaughter asked -Sgt Slaughter - "Now how will she withstand space travel?" It the colonel's rant hinted at the fact, Slaughter's question painfully revealed just how unprepared they were for all this

Grace and Boland tried to ingest what was being said from a very detached standpoint but met some obstacles. The biggest problem was that both cared so deeply for the child that objectivity was compromised from the start. Nonetheless, Grace martialled her emotions, sat back and allowed the colonel to speak. Similarly, Boland attempted to remain objective. The man watched O'Dubhui. He watched the Sean chai. And he listened. Right up until Slaughter's rather flippant remark. Fist crashing down on the small table in front of him the man spoke -Boland- "Ok you creampuffs...." If looks could kill. Lovely cliche. And if true Boland would be on trail for first degree murder. And O'Dubhui would be dead. Slaughter too. The Sean chai? Them too. Nodding up he asked -Boland- "You morons realise that we're talking about a little girl here?"

Slaughter sat up from his work mouth ajar set to fire back at Boland but never got the chance as O'Dubhui fired back a response -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Would you be happier if we were to sit back and do nothing?" Turning his state to Grace the man continued - Colonel O'Dubhui- we did not start this whole business. " Shrugging the officer spoke while slowly shaking head side to side -Colonel O'Dubhui- "No." Holding his state with the woman -Colonel O'Dubhui- "We are responding to her move." As he explained long left arm swinging wide -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Would you happier if we did nothing?" Turning attention to Slaughter -Colonel O'Dubhui- "I am assuming that whilst she is on the beast that she shares his mysterious..." Stumbling for for a second he got several seconds he finally added -Col-Colonel O'Dubhui- "Immunity." Then capping the statement slow and deliberate - Colonel O'Dubhui- "What we want is at the very least minimal protection once she dismounts the wretched thing."

The colonel's words set Boland back in his seat. The man was right and all argument left him. What now? The 'if you can't beat em join em' mentality many played by did not fly with the man. Brows dropping And right hand stroking chin he thought. One thing did not slip his eyes as he deliberated, namely: The Raven now sat on the left shoulder of Grace. And Maureen crouched beside a sitting wolfhound looking at him. Grace stood up walking past him and bending over she placed a pendant around the girl's neck, kissed her forehead then returned to her seat. She felt like they were sending a person off to war. that wasn't their intention. Or was it? She listened and withheld her objection. For now.... The little girl took the pendant in hand. A ruby. A big ruby. Nice. Letting it drop down again she looked up and smiled at Grace

Slaughter stopped back over his work. On top of the maps, texts and other navigational material compiled on the table, they were now working on defensive gear got for a child. Exact measurements had been taken on Maureen and anything constructed would be done according to those specifications. He had a checklist that he was working on: Maureen: personal attributes: Weapons: PPE: The intense social climate had calmed - significantly but still be listened. Slaughter added the necklace that Grace had given to Maureen to his noted. He would get exact specs on the jewel. It was a fairly reasonable assumption that it had some defensive significance but he needed confirm that belief. He noted that too. Hence, he allowed the colonel to address those gathered. O'Dubhui did not acquire his rank from shining superiors shoes or any other ass kidding ploy engineered to ensure climbing up the social ladder; his position was gained on account of sharp wits, military knowledge and an excellent rapport with his staff and soldiers. I'm this specific case he was orchestrating the development of a set of clothing that would provide optimum protection for a child. By the very nature their goals appeared to be geared to dress the child for offensive maneuvers. They were not. And that is what he addressed -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Alright. We are all here." Looking at the woman - Colonel O'Dubhui- "Grace, go raibh maith agat, thank you for whatever it was you have the girl." Now turning to Boland - Colonel O'Dubhui- "We are doing everything we can to protect the child for what we can foresee as a possible problem. Everything." Leaning back - Colonel O'Dubhui - "But let me make this painfully clear: we are not gearing her up for some sort of covert operations. " And he concluded -Colonel O'Dubhui- "We are open to any sugestions. We invite aid. Go raibh maith mile agat." And he was finished, the case not closed but opened side to all. He returned to his work with his sergeant

The movement was hectic for a short time but the pace eased with the speed that it picked up. Grace, with The Raven set on her blind shoulder, hurried about engaging in conversation with the officers, primarily Sgt Slaughter, and finally settling into a chair across from the man. Boland too moved about speedily, talking with O'Dubhui, touching base with Maureen before finally settling into discussion with the two druids, O'Maolchonaire and O'Rathallie. The child continued sitting with The hound and observing. Observing the momentary upheaval that she believed had something to do with her. PPE and cotosis. Whatever that was. Some sort of laundry soap so she believed. Soap they used to kill cooties. Whatever they were. She didn't think she had any. Then it struck her. A question. We're there Jedi and With cooties? She'd ask Boland later. The Raven wanted to broaden her horizons. Looking left then right she mumbled -Maureen- "I think that my shoulders are broad enough...." That evaluation and much of what was dancing around in her head slipped into thr subconscious realm of her mind as her concentration tell on The hound. Soon her and the massive beast were running around without a care free of the adults

At one corner of the table sat O'Rathallie and O'Maolchonaire. And the two Sean chai spoke at length about the vulnerability of the human body and methods of shielding one from harm. At one point O'Rathallie swung fast to the right, raising rifle to shoulder and firing off four fast shots. Turning back to his friend and setting the gun down gently he spoke -O'Rathallie- "Bloody Shithawks." Smiling politely at his friend Tourna answered. -O'Maolchonaire- "Ceart!" Then like lightening the aged Sean chai snatched his own rfle up, shouldering the weapon and fired three shots. And back their discussion they went. Copious amounts of alcohol and many a cigarette were consumed as the discussion continued after the sun had began to rise

Suddenly two Tog commando each went to right knee and they cleanly shot seven ten buzzards from the Juvex sky. Colonel O'Dubhui leaped up giving each commando a well deserved cuff upside the head -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Gentlemen.... We must act like gentlemen." The aged officer returned to his chair. And the instant that his ass cheeks made contact with the ever so f!uffy seat the colonel leapt back to his feet pulled two revolvers and unloaded on the ever increasing Juvexian Buzzard. Colonel O'Dubhui's momentary lapses of reasoning conflicted so violently with his legendary calm and collected nature that they stood out all the more. Sgt Slaughter, now leaving his seat, walked over to the colonel. Abruptly Slaughter seized O'Dubhui by the shoulders and violently shook the colonel and gave him a couple of solid slaps in the gate -Slaughter- "Get a hold of yourself man!!!" Slaughter led the colonel back to his seat

And still Colonel O'Dubhui and Sgt Slaughter sat immersed in their study. The fire fashioned of native foliage and foreign fuel burned white hot bellowing black smoke. O'Dubhui turning to the Sean chai two asked -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Now then Masters how do we speak of Manaan?"

O'Rathallie and O'Maolchonaire, now sitting around the fire pit talked amongst themselves. The question O'Dubhui presented captured their attention. While Aogan say silent Torna snapped back an answer -O'Maolchonaire- "We call Manaan what it is: The Promised Land and vow "Next year in Ahto!" Of course the answer begged an other question..... But the ancient scholars left that to be asked.... Both returned their attention back to the flame and their never ending debate

The colonel and sergeant spoke set down their work lending an ear to the words of wisdom. Now, it was a cultural norm to answer questions with a question. This habit caused much stress among foreigners. Conversely, among natives this mannerism engendered further dialogue. Slaughter threw back the obvious -Slaughter- "And when, may I ask is 'next year'?" The colonel shot a stare at the sergeant and stated -Colonel O'Dubhui- "Yesterday...."

Boland now crouched down by Maureen spoke quiet to the little girl, who sat with the The hound. And Grace noticed silently in a chair observing the surrounds and listening to the banter among the Elders as it transpired. The Raven nestled on her left shoulder also listened. Suddenly he spoke -The Raven- "She's untouchable when on my back...." He had grown tired of the endless rattling. Boland looked up from where he sat on his calves - Boland- "That's right nice but what if... when... she decided to diamount. What then" To that the Raven wasted no time -Raven- "Then I pity any stupid enough to advance on her." All facts taken into account his statements left little if any room for argument. And he added -The Raven- "And all this rambling of privacy and closed domains loses all And any authority the instance that they are pulled external names into that childish gaming...." The bird was on a bit of a roll as it steamed over human incompetence. And the Entity concluded by? Surprise, suprise. Tossing out yet another question. -The Raven- "Would any of you care to explain the logic behind that all too common flaw among you humans?" Boland in face off this logic responded -Boland- "Fair call...." The Raven glared at Boland but stepped on his initial impulse to fry the man. That nonsense spoken to The Raven felt the itch to travel. Boland glancing casually at Maureen and The hound. And the man froze. There she sat cross legged. And levitated several centimetres off the ground. The man said nothing; it was harmless and he doubted that she even knew.... The little girl, noticing Boland was watching her though. She smiled as her parliamentary side settled down effortlessly. Eyes widening she held out her new pendant declaring -Maureen- "Boland! Look what Grace gave me!" Nose crinkling -Maureen- "Isn't it beautiful Boland?" Handling the jewel gently he examined the rock. It was stunning actualy. Looking up And catching the girls eyes in his own he slowly explained -Boland- "Honey I don't want you to ever take this off." She asked in a bewildered tone -Maureen- "Even when I shower!?!" To which Boland attempted to respond forcefully whilst stifling a laugh -Boland- " Even then." Voice slipping a few octaves lower she leaned in asking -Maureen- "Boland. It's magic - Isn't it?" Looking down at the child nodding -Boland- "Something like that honey." Nodding solemnly she then looked nervously around then asked quietly -Maureen- "Boland do you find the drums a bit spooky?" Boland was amused . The bodhran drum never bothered him. Then again he grew up with.... Nodding upward he said -Boland- "It'll grown on you." And both settled back into their sitting
