Boaz sits at the bar in a nameless local hole in the wall. Collecting empty glasses at a respectable rate, his physical size was the only thing ensuring his sobriety. This had been a milk run, and milk runs always made the Feeorin nervous. At least with "dangerous" jobs you knew the score, and the threats. On a run like this, it was easy to become complacent and find yourself in serious trouble. Boaz found himself reacting by running to the other side of the spectrum and remaining constantly on edge until the job was done. Now that the job was done, he could allow himself to rest and melt into the surroundings comfortably.

"Keep that up and you're not gonna be able to feel your face." A Firrerreon in her early twenties stood next to the table the large Feeorin sat at, leaning against its edge with her hip. She flashed a smile, her white teeth brilliant in direct contrast with her golden skin. "But then, that may be what you want."
She finished the shot of Corellian rum in her hand and set it on the table, sliding into a seat opposite the blue behemoth. Her eyes met his with a pleasant, though rather mischievous gleam. "Tell me. What harrowing adventure has you drowning yourself in liquor?"
Her chin rested in her hand, elbow on the table, as she looked greatly interested at him. Inwardly, her mind spun its wheels, a vastly different persona from the one she portrayed in command. His clothes and stature indicated spacer, probably more mercenary. Good, she was familiar with their kind. His size would prove a problem if he were provoked, and if she wanted to get him completely drunk off his ass. She also had no knowledge of how susceptible his mind was to... suggestions. While many of her attempts had worked with her previous mercenary captain, she knew the attempts didn't always work on people, for whatever reason. The risks were many, the payoff potentially none the way the Feeorin was drinking, making this a very dangerous game. But then, she enjoyed the danger.

Boaz lifts his head to inspect the woman who appears to be his new drinking partner. He lifts an arm to motion for the bartender before speaking. Draining his current glass, Boaz looks the stranger square in the face. It was a quiet evening, he had recently been paid, his ship was well stocked, and Boaz saw no harm in being friendly.
Celebrating the end of a successful job. No longer do I have to worry myself with babysitting the property of a neurotic Toydarian who insists on contacting me every four hours, on a two day trip, to make sure his precious machinery was not getting banged around too badly. As if my flying on on the worst day could do much to those crates of scrap that time hasn't already. He's lucky I didn't deliver them down his flabby gullet.
Boaz extends a large hand across the table.
Boaz, captain of the Rambler, at your service. What are you drinking?

Taera gripped his hand with her significantly smaller one. Yep, she'd definitely make sure to stay on his good side until she could make a clean getaway.
"Charmed," she said, smiling lopsidedly still. "And rum. It's all my pitiful pocket can allow for now."
She leaned forward on the table again, the loose fabric of her button-down shirt shifting softly with her motions. "I'm sure the Toydarian had nothing to worry about. You strike me as a pilot who knows what he's doing. Steady hands make for smooth flying," she said, looking coyly at him. "Or so I'm told."
A deck of cards slipped from one of her many pockets and she began to idly shuffle them, taking in what she could from her peripheral vision. Her second analysis confirmed he'd be a powerhouse in combat, the lines of muscle well-noted. It made her stomach twinge, to think of this captain in physical motion, but everything had a price. If she wanted his hard-earned credits, she was going to have to get closer to him. Much closer.
"I must say your celebration seems rather tame," she said off-handedly. "Most sentients would be in the arms of some willing companion or raking in more credits by playing cards."

Turning momentarily to the summoned Bartender, Boaz orders a fresh round.
Eight rum. And something fried. Be quick with it.
Focusing once more on the stranger, not having caught her name.
I don't care for braggarts, but I've lived my whole life on ships. I've picked up a few things here or there. Now then, did you have a better pass time in mind?
He gestures to the cards.

"Name the game, Boaz," she said lightly. "I must warn you I'm terrible at most card games."

Boaz strokes one of his facial tendrils thoughtfully for a moment.
Pazaak. It is an old classic, if you are interested. Care for a match?
He reaches into his coat pocket and sets a small pouch of credit chits on the table.

Taera set the cards on the table then rubbed her jaw sheepishly. She wasn't lying when she said she wasn't good at most card games. But when Boaz set those credits on the table, it sounded like paradisal music. Even with that small amount, she'd be set for a couple of days. At least until she could find some decent work with very loose morals. Taera ran a hand through her hair, the silver stripes shining even in the dim light.
"You've caught my interest sir," she said, pulling out her own bag of credits. Somewhat smaller, she knew it could match the Feeorin's. She smiled at him again. "Pray be merciful and don't beggar me."
With deft fingers, she dealt their hands, selecting her sidedeck to have as much variety as possible. Boaz, with his solid eyes, would be hard to read. She fingered her cards, eyeing the blue alien over the tops. This, much to her chagrin, would have to be a straight game. No suggestions. A pity. She'd wanted to at least attempt a suggestion. Taera scowled at the ten that was immediately dealt her, not even trying to hide her emotions. If this was how the match was going to go, there was no doubt she'd lose. But as the round proceeded, she ended with a solid 19. Boaz ended with the same.
Another round, another ten. Taera was not amused but rolled with it, using a couple of her cards to manipulate the final score to her liking. A little low, but Boaz went over the perfect 20. Well, perhaps one tied round wouldn't matter after all. The next round went to Boaz, then a tie, and a third round going to Boaz. Taera finally caught a break and won the fourth round. With two wins apiece, those credits could go either way. She hoped it'd be her way. Gods knew she needed those credits just to scratch out a living. As the cards were dealt, the scores seemed to be about even. Her eyes narrowed when she saw the final card dealt to Boaz. It left him at nineteen. At her current 13, with only a +2 card left in her sidedeck, she was going to need a miracle. She flipped over her next card, praying to whatever merciful gods there were to let her win. With a slow, trembling hand, she set the card face up.
A five.
Coupled with her +2 modifier, she was sitting pretty on 20. The final round and the match was hers.
Taera smiled broadly but was careful to keep the smug, exuberant triumph off her face. Where there were a few credits, there was bound to be more. No need to scare off Boaz just yet. She extended her hand over the table in a show of good sportsmanship.
"I don't know how I got that lucky. Most people take everything I have and the shirt off my back," she said, good-naturedly.

Boaz laughs, sliding the credits to his new friend.
Not good with cards you say? I am curious to see how you handle situations in which you are skilled. I feel this may be a sign I should put the cards away for the night, at least until I am more composed.
He glances to the gathering of drinking vessels to his side.
It was enjoyable, however, any other fine ideas?

A sly grin crossed her face. Situations she was skilled at covered a broad spectrum. The previous five years had seen her hone her combat and espionage skills, and the captain had used her multiple times when a mission called for assassination. Each shot was clean, no trail was left, and she got a larger share of the profits as a result. But she supposed Boaz would be more interested in a more... non-lethal display of her skills. Besides, a private audience with the spacer might lead her to discover the rest of his credits.
"I could give you a private demonstration of a situation I am skilled in," she said with a wink. She knocked back another shot of rum. "But that would require more... intimate chambers."

Boaz narrows his eyes, and drops his hand away from the facial tendril he had been toying with. He takes a shot, or three, of his own before responding.
I see. And I don't suppose you have a place in mind, do you? You don't seem the sort to be from around here.

For once, Taera couldn't accurately gauge his reaction. Most sentients had obvious feelings but she felt... confused by his reaction. Was it surprise or disinterest? Couldn't be disinterest, he was asking if she had a place. Keep it smooth. You've almost got him, hook, line, and sinker. Just a little more Taera and his creds are yours.
She smiled coyly, projecting an air of desire. "I have a hotel room but I'm afraid it's too small for you. You strike me as a... big boy. Perhaps... your quarters? We could relax and get to know one another."

Boaz thinks a moment before standing silently and grabbing his coat. Pulling on the simple brown garment, he adjusts it as necessary to make sure it conceals the DE-10 at his side. Finally, he turns to Taera and speaks.
I have a ship. It's on a pad not far from here, she's a fairly large bird, plenty of room for relaxing. A bit dry at the moment however.
Boaz steps to the bar tender and speaks with him for a moment. Haggling for a moment before handing over credits, Boaz takes possession of a sealed bottle of Whyren's Reserve from the owners private stash. Boaz didn't usually invite people onto the Rambler unless they were paying customers, but this was a rough time and he could use a distraction. Still, some good Corellian whiskey always settled the nerves.

She caught sight of a nice blaster holstered on his hip before his brownish coat hid it from view. That blaster could go for a pretty decicred. What other goodies was he hiding on his ship? He might not have been a bad target to pick after all. Assuming she could make a clean escape, of course. Taera slid out of her seat and sauntered behind Boaz, waiting a little ways away while he conducted his business. Her eyebrows rose at the sight of Whyren's. Good choice. He had good tastes and quite a bit of money if he could afford that for a one night stand. This night just kept getting better and better.
"You've got quite the thirst," Taera said. She winked slyly at him. "How's your appetite?"

Noticable. Spent the best part of the last decade in deep space with only the occasional terrestrial pit stop.
Boaz tucks the bottle of expensive hooch into an inner coat pocket before leading the way out of the seedy bar. Keeping his dominant hand near the grip of his blaster, he moves easily through the crowded streets. Approaching a well used, and clearly modified Flare-S swoop, Boaz gives it a quick once over for tampering. Looking back to his new aquaintance, he explains briefly with a shrug.
Can never be too careful. It's going to be a close ride, but we should be able to squeeze on. Front or back?

Nice bike, Boaz. He just had all kinds of toys, didn't he? She watched him check out the swoop, making a mental note. Her target was cautious. That would prove challenging, but was not overly off-putting. She could still pull this off. She just hoped his security would be a little lax on his ship.
"I'll take the front," she said. "It's my favorite way to ride."

Boaz shrugs and climbs onto the swoop, sliding as far back on the seat as possible.
All right then, climb on. It's just a quick ride to the Rambler, I'll be relieved once we get off these streets.

"And into the sheets, Boaz?" she asked with a smirk. Taera swung her leg over and straddled the bike with practiced ease. As Boaz drove, she leaned back against his chiseled chest, hating, fearing, and enjoying the moment. She still couldn't get a feel for his style. He was vastly unpredictable, which bode ill for her objective. Would he be rough and spend all his energy in one round or was he the type to spend all night enjoying himself? The contours of the whiskey bottle pressed into her back and she was reminded of the alcohol. She hadn't had enough for her liking, but then again, she was trying to pull off a scam, not get scammed. And that reminded her of another unanswered question: how would alcohol affect Boaz? Would it knock him out, make him angry? Would he zonk out after being satisfied? Too many unknowns, not enough solid facts. Her lips pressed into a frown but she stayed the course; she was in too deep now to back out. Might as well wing it and see what came of it. After all, the mysterious force that drew her to Boaz had drawn her to other profitable jobs. Surely something good would come out of this.
Taera pressed her body into him, resting her hands firmly on his thighs. Who knows? Maybe she'd enjoy this. For once.

Just as Boaz said, after a few short minutes of winding through claustrophobic alleyways, a well used Firefly-class transport comes into view. Easing back on the throttle Boaz glides the swoop gently towards the main cargo door.
There she is, the good ship Rambler. In all her cobbled together glory.
Calling out, Boaz disengages the voiceprint lock on the door and pilots the swoop into the waiting cargo bay.
She might not look like much. But she's gotten me through quite a few serious situations, and can haul enough cargo to keep me comfortable on credits.
