The Old Dead man's mind was rolling fast. The light he thought.... The sun never sets in Harmony, which does not make for very harmonious Angelic beings. He felt sorry for the lot of them. Now that passing he could not make common sense of the choice to look back. Shrugging it off he realized that the first time someone requested to kill Nexus he should have simply nodded.... And there was more than one ocassion. Teeth gritting just at the thought of that idiot shooting that gate off. And he spat out two words -An Tiarna- 'Little punk....' Then Sinistra came to mind. He struggled for the name..... Bimm whatever the hell that name of that swamp of planet is called should have been bombed! Repeatedly. The Old Dead man spoke lamentedly -An Tiarna- 'But no..... I had to fly over there all by himself to start a fight. And ya....' Head shaking He continued -An Tiarna- 'And how she just up and spit out three pups is suspect to say the least. Hummm....' Caressing beard he wondered. Snapping fingers -An Tiarna- 'Simple blood test. Kids are probably as ugly as Nexus.' Shaking uncontrollably he put that horrific image away but couldn't help but mimic Sinistra -An Tiarna- '"That's what I liked about Dark Tide; the camaraderie." Just what the hell type of camaraderie did that faction share?' And up sprung Holy Fuck or whatever asinine name Max had adopted, and his bloody monkey men. He wondered aloud -An Tiarna- 'Did that shite for brains have a clue of who or what he was speaking about? Somebody explain just who's ass it was that dimwit tossed out of that bar. Moron.' The whole bloody lot sickened him. And to think there he was in Jedi heaven enjoying a pleasant time with some nice celestial being. Who was yanking who's chain here? These were some disgusting heaps of flesh. Speaking of calm, his angelic companion said -The Angel- "About a nine on the tension scale there An Tiarna."

The Old Dead man looked out on Revenge of the Nerds The Uni wide wondering what the gang was doing today. This should be enlightening. The back of a Right Hand smacked upside his hard forehead. Pain. Pain? Pain here in The Light Hereafter? Who would have thought. His Angelic escort, right index hitting his chest with each word -The Angel- "You are one of the nerds here tough guy." Shoulders shrugging he could not deny her censure. She continued -The Angel- "You should be grateful, if not forgiving; they compliment you greatly even if they cannot, or simply refuse to see it." Turning to her with brows dropped and scowl on face. Firstly, she had quite literally read his mind as an open book but it was her words that confused him the most - An Tiarna- 'How you figure there your Divinenessness?' She smiled -The Angel- "Look beneath the rage; none of it could have existed but for...." She had a Hell of a good point he thought . And Hell of a Right. Light. Angel. Hell. Amused by his own unintentional play on words The Old Dead man laughed. His Caretaker added -The Angel- "You are far from wholly wrong but be even in your Judgement."

Sitting now elbows on thighs The Old Dead man gazed down on life bellow. What a fascinating group of beings. Missed it all to be sure. But such was life he thought then chuckled at himself. No. Such was death. Curiosity held him for a long while. And he had enough -An Tiarna- 'Got a Heavenly deck o'cards?' And just like that his Watcher held up a deck. He smiled broad. And they played. And he lost. Repeatedly. And he tried harder, which the likelihood of improving your win/loss percentage in a game of chance is somewhere around zero. So, lose he did. In a most epic way. But it killed time, which in the Afterlife is really insignificant
Boredom was beginning to take it's toll. But what slipped by him was the fact that he'd stopped watched the Universe bellow.... Perhaps for the first time in his whole New Life in Death. An old adage says this: When a man becomes a man He puts away childish things. Dated but that aside it was a beautiful saying. His back now faced our existence. Progress. Odd word. Some would say terrible. And it is

Back still faced to Our Own Reality in The Land of the Living, The Old Dead man looked down on the table in front of him. Brows dropping he mumbled -An Tiarna- 'Wtf is that?' Looking up at his Angelic Chaperone then back down. A map. A Living map lay spread out like a table cloth. Shaking head he gestured with giant right hand and The table was filled: tea pot, creamer, sugar bowl. A cup on dish, one for The Angel and on for himself. And utinsels... The whole ball of wax. Smiling he nodded -An Tiarna- 'Go raibh maith agat.' The Sublime Stewart bowed deep -Stewart - "Failte romhat." Then the Angel Stewart slipped away. Mighty pleasant here so he thought. And in laying out the table for tea they coincidentally covered much of the distraction. Returning the Stewart Angel laid a paper on front of him. The Harmony Newsletter. Images from the Uni wide blended with news of The Otherworld on the cover page. Sighing deep he looked over to his friend. With delicate hands, full of Power Omnipotent, she picked up her cup taking a sip, eyes not breaking with The Old Dead man once. Setting the cup back down she asked -The Angel- "So, what now?" He responded in a snap - An Tiarna- 'Well right now we drink tea.' Any greater answer was beyond him at the moment. And he was quite sure nothing was changing anytime soon. Out go the Lights, no need bow, just say Fare Thee Well & Good Night. Codladh samh. And, just then the Angelic Gaurdian said - The Angel- "You do don't want to watch this...." To which The OldDead man leeping to feet ran and got his seat watching as The Angel held his hand

The Old Dead man had seen many many men die. When The girl collapsed to the ground he stared speechlessly for a long minute. And at last he stood -An Tiarna- "Well that's that." And he walked away

For the most part The Old Dead man paid little or any attention to the mess Uni below. Watching Morrigan as she tripped through The Valley of the Dead was about as emotionally damaging as it got. He cared enormously about the girl and this so young was not how he had wished things to pass. Then again his life had been riddled with such tragedy. He simply stared blankly

And there it was, just as he had requested. Transcripts. They really had their shite togethe here in the Otherworld.... And he drank coffee. Lots of coffee. Enough to kill a man. Hahaha. Too late for that. So... -An Tiarna - "More coffee please. And bacon. Lots of bacon. And The Old Dead man read. And read. And read more. And drank more coffee. The contradictions in the words passed were ridiculous. -He muttered- An Tiarna- "Yupp this shite is scripted. Poorly at that." Shaking head -An Tiarna- "No IF man would ever talk like that...." Tossing the papers over shoulder he looked around his Heavenly abode

The angelic being burdened with caring for The Old Dead man busier herself cleaning up the horrid mess Big Ugly left in his wake. On trip number ten to thine Holy Garbage Bin she stopped by the table where his he now parked his hideous can and commented -The Angel - "Did you enjoy reading other people's business? I know you were very excited when we produced the goods but yesterday." Massive hand dropping on the table the Heavens themselves shook and the meek amongst them, which were many booked it for shelter . Those unmoved by the nonsense rolled eyes, sighed, muttered obscenities, which let us say were rare in these parts. And he bellowed in a voice reminiscent of the Thunder of angry Gods -An Tiarna- 'Gotta say that tract is interesting but once the humor in it all passes tis a pile of rubbish.' Frowning she responded -The Angel- "Well that's disappointing." Eyes widening he came back -An Tiarna- 'You think?' And both fell back into silence and tending to their routines, her a touch of tidying and himself brooding and plotting. The cigarettes burned as the Heavenly atmosphere became more and more polluted with his smoke. She feared, herself known to abide in a fag once in a while, of another of those pompous Celestial Anti-smoking Campaigns on his account but said nothing

And suddenly there she was.... And she wondered where exactly is there was. Then she saw them. Three dudes in tuxedos each holding a sign WELCOME T0 HARMONY A smiling woman in blue stood at a table with refreshments and light food. You know, shortcake, crakers and cheese to go with all the whine. And believe me, there was a whole lot of sobbing at this junction in The Death experience. And such is Life. Death. Not a pretty chore. The lady in blue smiled at Morrrigan and handed her a brochure -Woman in Blue- "Hope you enjoy eternity!" The Attendant continued rambling on with what she'd been assigned to do for... centuries. Something about how Death was not Thee End but just a New Beggining. And a brief outline of the many activities and the free Clowd Watching Tour for the Newbie Deceased. But Morrigan was not listening, as something had caught her eye. Well eyes to be precise. There he was.... That despicable Old man. What a fright Scratch that. Sight. Her first impulse was to.... I cannot kill him here she thought. Or can I? No one will blame me.... The Creator probably hates him. Eyes narrowing she walked up to the man and immediately drove a knife that she'd scoffed off the snack tray into his right shoulder. Stepping back she stood in a fighting stance ready for whatever came

The Old Dead man did not scream in agony. He did not flinch. Turning slowly he looked down on Morrigan. Giant left hand pulling the knife from shoulder he chastised the girl -An Tiarna- 'A butter knife.... Did I not teach you better than this?' Face filled with shock -An Tiarna- 'I mean really?'. There he stood, as menacing as ever but he did not advance on the girl but asked -An Tiarna- 'So what now?'

Morrigan stood watching and listening. Her head was still attached to shoulders, hence things were indeed very very wrong. What Now he asked. What now. She spoke -Morrigan- "What now!?!" She tried to process the question. Frame it in a way that made sense but none of this made a spit of sense. None of it. So she just stared at the Old. Old..... Well she guessed it was Now Dead man.... Confused did not begin to describe how she felt. But that was not important to what they were discussing right now. Right here.

Looking down upon the girl, face emotionless his eyes spoke his emotions. Anger. Fearles. Terrifying. And beneath that a sorrow so deep that it would bring the coldest of heart to weep. 'Well cry me a river there Bigfoot' he thought and reached for some rhyme or reason here but find one he could not. Truth? He could do that. And paint it all pretty to boot. -An Tiarna- 'Well honey. We're fucked. Royally. ' Sighing deep -An Tiarna- 'Can do near anything you wish; they'll try and accommodate your every desire.' At that he fumbled in his pocket. Cigarettes. Yes. And lighting up he finally added -An Tiarna- Anything. 'Everything. Except breath.' Ouch. Wasn't really a nice way to say that. Dead. And all the creature comforts in the universe, and beyond, wwould not, could not change that bitter reality. You could near see the lights go off in his head -An Tiarna- 'But... But you can travel. Shrugging -An Tiarna- 'Of course you've done quite a bit off that already I guess'

Side eyed and jaws agape she stood looking up at him as she had as a child. He truly was terrifying she thought. Never saw that aspect of the man. She did, just not like others. Their normal was everything but normal - that she knew full well. Like having Kegan murder the entire kitchen staff because I said in passing that the coffee was to hot. Then afterwards him blaming the whole thing on everything except the girl's mental stability and giving her a present. That was the normal she existed in. Still you'd think that it would soften the blow but it didn't..... Death was death, and as The Old man would put it, it sucked like nothing had sucked before. Old man.... Maybe she should reconsider that name. She shrugged unconsciously; she never called him that anyway. My Grandfather when speaking to outsiders.... Athair Chriona, or Wise Father in the Standard tongue to some. But as habit? Himself she called Daideo. And as she grew she called him many a name, most not too pleasant. And she had lost herself. Death was the main topic. And what to do once one found themselves in that state. Wait. Did he say travel? There she spoke -Morrigan- "Travel you say?"

Watching the poor girl struggle with the situation brought back tender memories. Right about now was when he yell "Morrigan! Get your head out of the clouds!!!" But they were in the clouds now. Funny that.... And what were they talking about? Death apparently did not cure the effects of senility. Eyes pursing and a dull look entered eyes until he shook the demons and cobwebs off. What was it? Right! The Death experience. Travel at the moment, to be specific. She had inquired about moving about in the Land of the Living. And to that he answered -An Tiarna- 'Oh yes. That we can.' Catching the excitement rising in her -An Tiarna- Now it can be more than a bit frustrating as people have the tendency to write you off as everything but what you are.' Head nodding to the right -An Tiarna- 'But the experience in itself is majestic.' And then he asked the question, as if an angered parent speaking to a child, which in many ways it was -An Tiarna- 'And what did you do Morrigan?'

She stood watching him. And she listened. Travel. She could feel her heart beat faster. Or could she? Just like it being almost universally accepted that white men can't jump, she was pretty sure that dead hearts don't beat. No matter, she was excited about returning to The Land of the Living even if it was just to look. Then his last words hit her. They formed a pointed question. One that demanded an answer. It was then that she became aware of two things. One She was looking down and the other she was blushing. Collecting herself she looked up at the ancient man -Morrigan- "Well. When I scraped up your remains." Holding his eyes in her own. It was then that she truly grasped much of what he taught her "I went to the IF bank." Voice cool she spoke as if reading the weather report from a newspaper. And she went on - Morrigan- "It was a mess out there. Anyway. I stripped the bank clean and redistributed as you showed me. With a gentleman's help." Taking a long drag of smoke in mouth -Morrigan- "All done I murdered him and everybody else in the place. Then destroyed it too. Inside." They were rather disorganised, as oft happens in such. " That was that. Well not completely -Morrigan- "You always spoke of the great benefit of teamwork." Smiling - Morrigan- "Your man. O'Dubhui. Made him a colonel." That significant detail not being critical here she passed that fast then back on track - Morrigan- "I charged him with executing the transfer of power." Taking a moment she threw back her hair. Tied a shoelace . Picked her nose. Lit a cigarette. Then she laid down the bomb -Morrigan- "A woman down there. " That sounded so foreboding.... Ominous. Strange to talk of the Land of the Living as such but it is what it is. Steadying herself -Morrigan- "One Grainne Mhaol, or Grace as she goes by, is one of us. A Dubh" Tongue crossing upper lip - Morrigan- " She now carries the title of Lord. And all authority and wealth that comes with that banner" She stood and awaited the tirade. But nothing immediately came, which in her experience oft meant worse. But she was calm. And not thinking of death

The Old Dead man listened, he too now sitting. Sharp girl and good under pressure. Now O'Dubhui he knew and respected. This new one, Grainne Mhaol. Her he feared for. But the whole move on the fly and under extreme negative pressure was.... Brilliant. He did ask. "She has support?" To which Morrigan have a simple thumbs up. Good he thought. And good that he was confident in Morrigan's definition of "support" being the same as his own. One worry gone. A big worry at that. Then he came to a full stop -An Tiarna- 'Pretty girl.... Lost an eye. Sad. Very sad. She was with a tall fella. They were here Morrigan!' Hand stroking beard 'With this cute little girl.' Smiling wide -An Tiarna- 'Left and took one of the ghouls with them. Running the Family business you say..... I can get behind this....'

A quick look around the Universe and The Old Dead man shook his head and barked a laugh then muttered -An Tiarna- 'Now, Morrigan if this is what they call fast paced and action packed I'd hate to see what they regularly look like.' Turning to the woman he asked -An Tiarna- 'Do they ever move so slow that the whole thing begins going in reverse?' A massive right hand sweeping the whole business away he returned to the business of death

The woman.. what was she now? Pulling herself together Morrigan looked down. Yupp. Still a woman. Eyes widening she took An Tiarna by the shoulders and spoke -Morrigan- "Daideo, I know know that you've done some time in prisons...." Now stepping back she continued - Morrigan- "Nexus. He scarcely knew me."

The Old Dead just stared down at Morrrigan as she went through her infantile sniveling. As she looked to be calming he stirred the pot -An Tiarna- 'Nexus always was a touch... special! That's the word they use now I guess. Right! Where was I?' Scratching his head then with a snap of the fingers on the left hand. Nodding to himself -An Tiarna- 'Just imagine that poor mouthy kid in with a range full of hardened criminals.....' Face all the sorry, eyes tearingnup 'Imagine he got slapped around pretty frequently.' Giant right hand falling on her left shoulder he spoke gently. Well as gentle as he could muster -An Tiarna- "Now you can tell me....' Holding his state he asked -An Tiarna- 'Did he seem a bit uncomfortable sitting?' Left hand gesturing -An Tiarna- 'How's about real loose flatulence?' Yes he thought. They walk in an asshole and come out a manhole. He'd seen it far too many times

And there he stood.... Why? Little bit early in the day to get too philosophical.... Rubbing sleep from eyes The Old Dead man suddenly spoke to his Angelic escort -An Tiarna- 'Where were you when I first got here princess?' Brows rising -An Tiarna- 'The Gate Ghouls who meet and greet us newbie deceased.... This one Angelic chick says "Welcome to the Netherworld." So being polite as I am, my reply was "Sprechen sie Deutsch?"' This was pretty early to be driven to tears but his patient Angelic hostess was already holding them back. Turning he took notice -An Tiarna- 'Not you too.....'
