What are Planetary Guides?
Planetary Guides are virtual guidebooks for planets. If you are interested in writing on a planet, checking the planetary guide can provide members with information regarding its current status on JvS. This can include (but is not limited to) which group currently claims influence over the planet, links to Wookieepedia pages, canon, legends, and JvS events that occurred on the planet, canon population, locations, as well as anything else the submitter thought relevant.
Who writes the Planetary Guides?
Everyone! Through collaboration with other members and the Whills, the Guide evolves and changes to take into account new rules and planetary RP changes.
JvS members create and submit planetary Guides for the Whills to review and approve.
It is recommended that members either hold influence over or write on the location they are submitting a Guide for, but this is not required. If a planet is currently not claimed and a member wishes to do so, they may submit a planetary guide that states the planet as being unclaimed or unaffiliated with any groups/factions/characters.
What does the Guide not do?
Yeah, but what does it do for me?

- Unaffiliated/Unclaimed planet's guide submissions may not contain planetary defenses.
- Guides for claimed planets should be submitted by the groups/factions/members who hold influence over the planet.
What does the Guide not do?
- The Guide is not a person. It is a collection of information, which every member has access to.
- It does not dictate what is or is not "good RP."
- It is a read only forum, apart from the threads to submit entries and requests. It does not make rulings, interact, or discuss issues. If you have questions, suggestions, or infraction reports please continue to the Consult the Whills board.
Yeah, but what does it do for me?
- If you have a character that you are unsure where they should be in the Universe, you can read planetary guides to find a world that suits your style of RP and character's interests. The Roleplay Planning Forum can also be a useful tool in helping locate your preferred RP environment.
- Opting into the Guide gives members the chance to describe, OOC, a planet's RP and what the planetary team expects of visitors.
- Reading the Guide informs members of the kind of RP that is likely to take place on a planet and the welcome they will receive if they decide to visit a planet.
