Jedi Council OOC planning

On a more serious note, I was further discussing the problem of Jedi not having their own ships with an awesome member of the High Council, and we came up with this concept based on what the Yavinites have been doing for a long time. Instead of a localized defense of Yavin by volunteers, however, it would be a dedicated branch of the GA who work in tandem with Jedi. So, a standing military consisting of both Jedi and Alliance Personnel.

I give you, AJTF. The Alliance Jedi Task Force.

Until somebody develops a plot point where the people of the GR get paranoid about the Jedi potentially abusing their power ;-D

They're like ODST response fleets. Except more extensively equipped.

Well, since the Yavin Jedi Peacekeeping Taskforce already exists, let's use it as a foundation. Fold it in to the Republic fleets, build upon the basis of it, spread it around a bit. It's similar to what I've been considering for a little while anyway - a Republic Jedi Peacekeeping Taskforce.

With the rest of my personal fleet points I can look into adding 9 Pelta-class Medical Frigates and elect to operate as a primarily medical response group. I could go with C-class Frigates for vastly higher patient capacity but the vessels are more vulnerable.

Am I the only one that thinks this is over complicating things?

You wanna play with fleets? Writes as a GR commander and play with fleets. You wanna be a jedi and do it? Write as a jedi that do what jedi do during wartime: Jedi General yourself and command the fleet.

Eh, Will, it only over complicates things if you overthink it. It's basically what we've been doing on Yavin IV for... oh, about 4 years now. Our fleets are part of a peacekeeping taskforce. They report to the Jedi, they're funded predominantly by the governments of worlds in the Gordian Reach (although, aside from Yavin, I don't think any Gordian Reach worlds are on JvS), they serve as peacekeeping and humanitarian aid force, as well as fulfilling any combat needs we have. They were there at the fall of the Emerald Order - we were the ones that set up refugee camps and medical services for the population of bombed out Safaeyet. And again, we aided Honoghr after an IF attack. It's quite a handy role, and it makes it IC logical - because people always turn around and say "well, how do you fund those fleets, where do you get them, why are Jedi commanding fleets?"

But yes. Let's go with a nice, simple set of fleets and armed forces for some Jedi under the banner of a special Republic Peacekeeping Taskforce. Then, as Syren pointed out, we've got a lovely RP hook there for a future situation where political machinations cause issues and the Republic become more tentative about giving the Jedi support - which will be a fun way to mix things up. As Don may have hinted, he and I, and Ronan, from Yavin, had a few ideas similar to this for something we were interested in writing.
