I am back as well. Last I knew I was on Honoghr on a path to become a Watchman... Then its the best place to be right now. . Things will be kicking off here shortly. Ill be posting in the cantina tonight, to talk to Desmond, and its clear sailing from there.

I could swear. . .that's where we were moving Aer. And I don't see why not. It just makes sense. And yes, now that I think about it. this is almost exactly how the convo went. we should move the Council to Coruscant. Don't see why it needs to be "unofficial."
And sorry Adi, but yea. I operate and leave a trail of expectations for my position in case i die, get voted out, or otherwise-- so that those responsibilities can be picked up by someone else and be ran with. I think your a great Lead. i am just speaking of it as an office, and not a person.

I was typing up a post, but before I do, are you saying that you think every member of the High Council should relocate to Coruscant, or the majority of the Order as well?

i think the Council meetings and deciding votes, promotions, knighting ceremonies, battle plans, etc. should be decided in a centralized fashion.

Oh, I see what you mean. That, I think, was actually the plan. Partially. As far as I knew anyway. I think Dav would know better than I would, but yeah, I think that's our plan. Though maybe not, since there was a knighting ceremony about to take place on Honoghr until the boards crashed... >.<

Okay new plan, I am taking over the order so all of you shut your traps and listen up, Adi can stay watch lead but he has to wear a funny pink hat, Will you are my cupbearer, making sure I never run out of booze, and Dav is the entire janitorial staff, his ego is big enough. As for everyone else, go back to your meditating and fighting those sithy people... Or whatever it is you people do in your spare time.

Yes, and if you are a good little Jedi master I might even let you take a sip or two of it.

I will mop the crap out of those floors!
Right, just in case anyone missed it, all of the Council from the old boards have returned, save Vesten who never actively took his seat anyway. Anyway, we're just getting organised now, so bare with.
We had agreed that some description of effort would be made to re-centralise on Coruscant - what and how far hadn't been established, but Council meetings, at least, were going to be there. Knighting ceremonies can really be done at any temple or Praxeum. Especially at Praxeums or Academies, I would say, since that is half their purpose.
I don't know who made the summary, but it was a good one - the Watch isn't an order of Paladins at all. The Watch are more like rangers, who patrol the forests solo, looking out for trouble, reporting it back to get help when it's too big for one Jedi. The Council, or at least a member of it, will send a response team of Jedi when needed. I don't want there to be any one team of Jedi dictated as a first response team - if nothing else, it's unfair on other writers, because the response team would get most, if not all, of the action. Response teams should be, like in Canon, made ad hoc, on a case by case basis from available Jedi based on who has the skills, the availability, and the Galactic geographical location, to help. After all, all Jedi have some degree of combat skill, roughly just under half are usually Jedi Guardians, meaning that they are suited to combat roles, and although canonically a smaller group, Jedi Sentinels usually have skills suited to more diverse combat forms too.
Those are my thoughts on the matter

The concept of "dedicated response team" doesn't mean "we would be the only responders." I can't stress enough the point that I was making was: "The Watchmen perform the duties of any Watch- they Watch." To that end, they would primarily be the eyes of the Jedi in their area of jurisdiction. I never implied that it would alienate the rest of the Jedi from combat roles. (That would be redundant; most of them do it to themselves.) In fact, I said that they would Iimmediately get into contact with the Council. Which would effectively get the word out and allow for a larger scale response from the Order as a whole in the event of Conflict. If nothing else, that would promote roleplaying, rather than stifle it all beneath the monotony of paper pushing. That said, the Watch is full of misfits and jackasses. We definitely don't fit the bill of Paladin.

Oh! More thoughts. So we don't have the activity, nor the numbers, for a Canon watchmen division, so our compromise really ought to be having them roam within a region of space. That gives them more to do.

I just meant a strike team because someone else mentioned a separate strike team further up in the thread

Oh. No. Strike team seems less like a Jedi thing anyway.
What are we, Marines? I missed my UNSC conscription!?

You mop those floors, Master Man'Sell, you go!
I understand that, and I think so does everyone else. However, on JvS, a solo RP career is....usually short lived. Being this 'forest ranger' going through the galaxy alone is what I was trying to avoid. Not saying that there would be one specific set of people going on these missions....RL doesn't allow for that usually....there -would be different people going, based on need of skill. *And willingness to RP in whatever situation might be.* While I completely understand the role of a Watchman in canon, the JvS version is going to have to be more 'team' oriented, so to speak...just because of the nature of the beast here on the site. It requires collaborative RP for the most part, rather than solo.
