"On the surface of the planet Voss is a place that defies the mind itself, the home of beast and being alike which all pit their lives against those who venture into that area: the Nightmare Lands. Words that I am unable to murmur aloud are what instead I have forced myself to write down, words which chronicle my strange encounter with that place, and which at length strain the very faculties of my mind to the breaking. That which drove me here is the hypnotizing light of scientific curiosity, and the fundamental need of humankind to know the machinations behind everything, which in my own greed and ignorance I followed blindly into the ancient studies of Sel-Makor. Enthralled by my findings, the Nightmare Lands were opened unto me, until I at last realized my mistake during The Encounter, but having come this far found myself prevented from escape. I now send this distress beacon to the wide universe in the hope that the signal escapes the grip of this world, and that I might be given some hope of release or rescue. What I have to offer upon safe return is all given as reward. My only thought is this: I must get out of here, before the narrow aperture through which I can no longer bring myself without aid finally slams shut to seal me forever..."
This is the comlink message that brings the party to the surface of the planet Voss and to the Nightmare Land.
What is the party? The party is a group including myself, and as many who are interested to be a part of it. Having received the distress message, we banded together to rescue this man in the hope that the reward is worth it.
Who are they? Force-wielding gunslinger mercenaries, the lot of them. Truth told, I want to use this JotW story to see if I'm actually interested in this character idea I had.
What is the plot? The story picks up as we are en route to the Nightmare Lands. Rescue the dude, listen to his forthcoming comm messages. Anything more would be telling
What's needed? Just yourself and a collaborative attitude. We'll make a thread in the JotW and commence the SL if there's sufficient interest. Sign up on this thread, create and name your character, explain his abilities, list equipment. Universe rules can be suspended in lieu of making the characters as dramatically awesome as possible, because we'll run them through the gauntlet.
