His only response to her first question was a tight, wizened smile, and a sideways glance at her. That was one thing he'd say about Alexis: she always asked the right questions, and she saw the importance of his choice of words precisely.
She was right, of course. It may well be the most complete way, but the best? As much as that was a tough thing to define, he agreed with her sentiment... whatever the best way to learn something was, the 'hard way' was probably not it. That was another big part of his relationship with Alexis, and why he had held back so far - he wanted to make sure she didn't have to learn too much the hard way.
And then she mentioned Nathan. Nathan Malreaux, whom had first brought her to Osarian. Dav thought back on Nathan, and Alora, and all that they had once done on Yavin IV. He hadn't seen or heard from either for such a long time.
"Nathan was another who had learnt many things the 'hard way'. He'd been through his share of suffering, too. I didn't see much of him during the time you were with him on Osarian - nothing deliberate or personal, our duties and lives just kept us in different places a lot. We never got a chance to talk about how he met you."
He turned to her, sitting more upright, and smiled broadly.
"I guess that makes it your story to tell."

"Yes. For a brief time Nathan spent a lot of time with me. And then Alora." She hesitated, remembering, then continued with a low laugh, "He used to assign me old holovids about the Jedi, Yavin 4---" She broke off. Some of them had been really cheesy, others had put her to sleep. She had suspected it was a semi-ruse to buy him some alone time with his wife. The two of them had a special relationship and for a bit it had seemed like she was in the way. And then, she'd discovered that Alora was pregnant and almost as suddenly been accepted into their family as if she was a long-lost daughter. She missed them.
"But in so many ways he was the father that I never had." Naturally she had a father, but she'd never met him. Every time her mother referenced him it was in the past tense. And she could tell that talking about it just caused her more pain, so eventually she had stopped asking. By the time they'd arrived at Nar Shadaa she was up to her ears in a struggle to survive and she had completely forgotten to keep asking.
She folded her arms in front of herself, biting her lip as she considered what to say, "It is hard to explain. I think it would be better to simply show you..." Alexis knew this wasn't making sense, and her next question seemed way out in left field. "Dav, I need to go...find something for you. Will you miss me for a few days?"

The elder Jedi listened attentively, though she in fact told him very, very little. He knew the holovids that Nathan probably had assigned her. Many of them he'd watched himself. He even appeared, fleetingly, in one of the ones on the Clone Wars. But he understood how difficult it was to explain - he himself was not always the most eloquent speakers. And so he understood why she might need to show him rather than tell him. Dav hadn't a clue what she wanted to get, or where from, but she'd earned a little freedom to roam - he was sure she'd come back. He smiled tightly, nodding a small, and understanding nod.
"I've disappeared on you enough times. Seem's only fair if I grant you the same freedom."
He rested a hand on her back, and his smile broadened.
"Take the X-Wing. You've earned it, it's yours. Arr-eight too, he's yours now as well."

The Mandalorians have brought war to the Galaxy once more. Under the leadership of Mand'alor ASHRAH INTALBO, and his General CORR VHETT, they have begun a campaign against the Galaxy's Force Users. The Jedi World of Yavin IV was the first hit, a strike at one of the greatest Jedi strongholds. The Mandalorians took YAVIN STATION, the mighty orbital defence platform, thanks to a brilliant infiltration strategy by DUKE AUSTRALIS, and under the order of Jedi Master DAV MAN'SELL, the Jedi forces retreated from orbit. With the Jedi fleets scattered, the Mandalorians took their attack to the surface.
However, the Jedi defences were not so easily overcome. With starfighter cover lead by Jedi Master JAGO PULASTRA, and ground defences overseen by Jedi Knight ADI MATANGO and Falleen strategist TZA'UAX, the Jedi were able to force the Mandalorians to withdraw to orbit. However, the defence is not without sacrifice - redeemed former Dark Sider DACE CONCORDIA, at the beginning of his path to reclaim the mantle of Jedi, was slain by the Mand'alor in bloody, vicious combat.
Now the Mandalorians are settling in for a long siege on the Praxeum, blockading the planet and seeking constantly to take out the shield generator and ion cannons that form the backbone of the Praxeum's defence. Dav, Jago, and the other resident Jedi of Yavin lead the hard fought and desperate defence, whilst Adi, working with Master WILL SON'TIR and Jedi Knight DIAMONTE TUHLUTE, and the Jedi Watchmen, seeks to prepare the Jedi, and the worlds of the Republic, for the inevitable assault to come.... THE SIEGE Day Two The Jedi Praxeum had seen its share of combat. Ever since the Great Temple had been built, five millennia earlier, it had been the site of many a battle: the culmination of the Exar Kun war, which scarred the planet for centuries to come; the infamous Battle of Yavin, when the Death Star met its end; and after the Praxeum's founding, so many more, from the battle against the spirit of Exar Kun, and the campaign by Natasi Daala, and the attack launched by Desaan, to the Shadow Academy, and the Yuuzhan Vong war, and the forces of the Dread Lord Havok, and the Corruption.
The Jedi Praxeum was no stranger to conflict and war. Nonetheless, the Mandalorian assault had tested the Jedi defenders greatly, and, no doubt, greater challenges still faced the besieged Academy. The Great Temple - twice devastated, twice rebuilt - was already carrying wounds of the Mandalorian aggression, with at least one hole blown in its walls and pock-and-burn marks throughout the Praxeum.
The Gardens of the Awakened Being were ordinarily a place of mediation, training, teaching, and even play; a place of life, nature, and the unbridled purity of the true Force. Today, however, they are a place of pain, and loss. As the heart of much of the fighting surrounding the Temple, the Gardens saw some of the most violent combat of the first day. Now, the peaceful and carefully tended gardens are broken up with barricades, defensive screens, weapon placements, and the destruction of battle. And the fighting is only just beginning....

... coming. They are coming. They are coming. ...
Like an ominous pulse in the back of his head, Resi felt the connection growing. Already he could see the emotion-lines anchored to the massive structure behind him. A storm of lines, braiding & twisting into a deep crimson thread, pulsing with hatred & power.
... are Coming. They are coming. They are coming. ...
He could feel it in his bones, a power like none he had ever felt in his two hundred & fifteen years of life. His heart had long since fallen into time with the pulse of the thread. He hadn't slept in some time, he hadn't needed to. The pulse of the thread filled him with an energy unmatched by common rest.
... are Coming. They are coming. They are coming. ...
Unknown to him & unnoticed to the other jedi who mostly avoided the mysterious loner, his milky white eyes had turned a bloody red.
... are Coming. They are coming. They are coming. ...

Due in part to their original design, it was hard to tell that the Gardens had witnessed the war that had taken place, with all of the defences having been cleared out and a rough clean up having been performed. There were certainly a few more gaps in the walls, but a handful of plants were already starting to grow in such a way as to cover them. Khaaed couldn't help but take a moment to enjoy the scenery as he lead the way through the gardens to a small shrine built into one of the walls where an urn containing the ashes of Iniquitous was located. The pair of Commando's then took up positions on either side of the shrine at attention Whilst I never met the man, it sounds as though he fought valiantly to protect this place. I imagine his spirit will rest easier once he is laid to rest properly on Manaan....

*An Tiarna had followed quietly, eyes collecting the scene before him. Death seemed to rest well in a place of living things & life in turn fed off those things parted. Hearing the man's words he broke from his thoughtful observation & the giant nodded in agreement with the man then spoke*
Iniquitous was indeed a man among men to say the least... that my brother was. He was a part of the Heart of the Iron Fists & in death he should return there

Khaaed gave a nod before picking the urn up and handing it to Mr Dubh, the Commando's raising their swords in salute as he did so I return these to you then... Tave viekis anmuxuna valia xisad gteokpi. It was a traditional Th'tremsi farewell to the dead, and when translated to basic, meant: the strongest spirits will always triumph

*The old man was fluent in several languages but this he did not understand. Still the spirit of the words touched his cold heart. Took the urn gently in giant scared hands, the hardened face remained unmoved but thunderous voice was now soft*
Go raibh maith mile agat a chara or loosely translated into Basic a thousand thank yous.
*An Tiarna held his gaze on the man for a long moment then turned quickly walked away with no fanfare & he was gone*

Standing at the edge of one of the many paths through the temple gardens, Kedea watched as other members of the Praxeum came and went. In the years after the fall of the Enclave on Dantooine this had been where she found herself during her days. In her days when she was not traveling the known reaches with her apprentice Tav and her friend Amlu. It was easy to reflect on those days, but easier still to find a serenity in the movements she practiced of her combat art. Some would have preferred she use the training quarters to practice her art, but it was in the open air of the garden that she found the most peace. Sliding her right foot forward and twisting it parallel with the breadth of her body, she reaffirmed her stance and drew in a slow but filling breath. It was here that she and her friends had found peace, had found safety, despite the ravages of the Mandalorian War. And it was here that she would prefer that they stay until it was safe for them to return to the Enclave and begin rebuilding.
Extending her right arm, she closed her eyes and exhaled her breath, sliding her left foot around behind her and swiftly pulling back with her right hand to replace it with her left in an almost blinding punch up from her chest and towards what would have been another beings head. Strong enough to crack stone or render a resilient sentient unconscious. Taking another breath she ended her days training with a concentrated bow and breath before sitting down and pulling the brilliant electrum saberstaff from her belt. How she had longed to use it once again, both ashamed and confident that it had slain many a Mandalorian or assailant over the years in the name of peace. But it was a desire she would have to wait on just longer still. There was a time for violence, just as their was a time for peace.

Amlu walked along the Garden pathways looking for Kadea. She was almost skipping, Kadea may have been affected more by the destruction of the Enclave but Amy had seen it as a start to a new adventure, finally she turned and saw her oldest friend. "Kadeaaaaaaaaa!" She yelled, as she moved forward, her friend could be so serious at times, and she sometimes wondered if that's why they got along so well, despite their differences, Kadea was as serious as a heart attack and twice as deadly, but of all the people she knew in the universe, she trusted her above all else, and that included her former Master Gene Kenobi. "Are you practicing again?" Amy said mock sternly looking at Kadea with mock disapproval. "At least you're relaxed." She said as an after thought a few of her head tresses twitching.

With a twitch of her brow and a lift of her head Kedea looked up from beneath her brow towards the young Nautolan, a small smile creeping across her lips as she greeted her with silent but calm eyes. "Amy, you are as cheerful as ever." Allowing the glowing and vibrant energy of her young friend to wash over her, she pulled her hands into her lap over her saberstaff and inclined her head in invitation for the woman to sit beside her. While Amlu could be energetic and, at times, overzealous she could not deny that her energy was a welcome reprieve from the darker and more emotional thoughts that invaded her mind of late. Looking at her friend, remembering their time as young women, she couldn't help but retain the smile as she let one of her hands drift up to her forehead. She brushed it over the horn just above her eye and out over the hair she knew had fallen from it's place, tucking it back gently.
"Where have you been?" She asked with a softness to her tone that was minutely undermined by the deepness of her natural tone. While she knew that her friend often preferred adventure to isolated recollection and meditation, she knew that she was just as dedicated. It was her experience from her time with Grand Master Vos that very few were taken as apprentices of the child of Kenobi. Her smile fading just a bit at the thoughts of their masters she brought the hand still just above her neck over her chest as she closed her eyes and drew upon the Force to center her mind. The Force was a blessing and her sole connection to the men she called father figures.

The Nautolan girl plopped down her tresses bouncing as she did so, she forced her eyes closed for a moment then smiled, her radiant white teeth at her friend. "Swimming of course. Gotta stay in shape, that's one thing I'll miss when we go home." She said absent mindedly, she noticed that Kadea had her saber staff out again. She frowned but then smiled, it was one of the more pretty saber's she had seen in her short life. "I wonder what's for dinner, and do you think we will ever go home?" She asked this time a little more seriously. She missed Dantooine even if it didn't have as vast water flows as Yavin did. She also hoped that Master Kenobi would find them there, it had been since her knighting that she had seen him. And that was too long, waiting for answers from her friend, she toyed with the tips of her forward tresses absently, looking almost child like in such an old innocent habit.

Pulling her mind away from the past, leaning just a bit towards the younger woman as she sat down, she felt another feeling of relaxation wash over her. If there was anyone in the galaxy outside of her late father and late master, it was Amlu. Some might have questioned how one such as herself kept the balance between the youth's energy and her own natural silence, but there was no one else she trusted in such a close and intimate proximity. Tilting her head again as she leaned back into a straightened position, she chuckled lightly and slid her hand down to pat the woman's leg. "In time, Amy, in time." She said, her mind now finally free from the draw of the emotions tied with her memories, and watched for a few moments as she fiddled with the tips of her tresses. There as a calmness about her when she emptied her mind of questions, only minding her thoughts when there was a pressing or concerning matter at hand.
"As for dinner, I imagine I can scrounge up something up that you'll like." She mused as she leaned back a bit, running her hands over the saberstaff in her hands before pushing herself up to her feet and taking a few paces away from Amlu and turning around to face her. While she was fully capable of respecting her friends' energy and disapproval of constant training, she knew that what was best for her young friend was that she always be kept at the top of her form. "Form?" She asked as she took the staff in her right hand and held her thumb over the right activation switch. If there was anything Kedea was good at, it was training and sparring. Unorthodox in a place like a garden, but she preferred the element of surprise.

"And you're gonna make work for it too huh? Form I of course, Shii-Cho, its what I know best." She said, her saber in hand as she stood up. She smiled. "It better be fish on the menu or I'll be cross." With that she ignited her saber, and slid her feet out sideways, bringing the hilt in towards her hip and the blade in front of her body, her other hand out and ready. "Is this gonna be a common thing, you've been doing surprise sparing for ages now!" She said in a mock whining tone.
In all honesty though she didn't mind it, she had to be kept on her feet, or she'd get lazy, Kadea knew that, and with good reason if they ever went home it would be a dangerous mission, especially with the few younglings they would be taking with them, eventually she'd have to take one as Padawan, that was rich her a teacher. Hmph she thought waiting on Kadea to begin the session and still being specially aware while thoughts swirled through her mind, before Kadea began she had one more thing to say. "You know, I never thought of it until now..You don't know how to fight under water! We should get you a rebreather and I could show you!" She said a tad excitedly since the idea had just occurred to her, she was almost bouncing with excitement her head tresses moving in a hair like fashion. She saw the look on Kadea's face and resumed her stance once more.

"How about...something more of a challenge!" Sentients all over the temple gardens would no doubt to turn and search for booming and confident voice; and they would find him, currently leaping through the air, then coming to a gentle landing, his cape billowing all around him in the sudden wind. A hand came up to cover his face as he straightened, pushing silky golden strands of hair back out of his face (in an admittedly rather vain gesture) to reveal piercing green eyes, jade enflamed, that regarded the two Jedi women with a look of smoldering passion. Smiling with perfect teeth, the wind coming to a gentle breeze to flutter his cape, the light of Yavin profiling him like some kind of mythic hero, the figure spoke once more to the two women.
"For indeed...I am challenging. But I daresay that you two fair ladies will be my challenge of the day. Tentacles and horns are somewhat new territory. But, a Jedi adapts. I shall engage you in combat...and should I lose, I will never speak to thee again. But should I win...dinner, a date, and perhaps something..." The man's breth hitched in his throat, the wind picked up - scattering petals of the garden flowers into the air, an aura of petals and fragrance spinning around the man as he finally finished his thought and reopened his eyes. "...Perhaps something more." His hand, in a blur, ducked beneath his robes and fetched his saber - a rather plain looking silver lightfoil with a curved hilt. igniting the weapon, a golden blade spewed forth, and bringing the weapon up in a Makashi salute, he assumed his ready stance. Feet shoulder width apart, right side put forward, saber in a low guard with the blade pointing downward, left foot back, slightly crouched as to lower the center of gravity. His left hand, meanwhile, raised horizontally, was flung out in counter balance.
For this was Dandleion Wryte, the Dandelion knight. No doubt easily recognizable by the two women by his robes (A dark green affair, with the outer robe and inner tabard embroidered with golden Dandelions and silver gusts of wind). He was known far across the academy as a preeminent duelist. More, though, was he known for his loquaciousness and his womanizing tendencies. Indeed, padawans at the academy had been warned when Dandleion (somewhat forcibly) had been transferred from Felucia to the more remote Yavin IV, on the pretenses of an important mission no less.
"En garde, Jedi!"

It had only taken her a few moments to watch Amlu fall into stance and listen to what she had to say to understand what her first move would have been. Applying pressure to the ignition button of the saber, she wandered her eyes over her friend's form and searched silently for any openings or places that needed patches. It was her personal ritual while she prepared herself mentally for a spar or even a duel. Though this time it was unceremoniously interrupted by a loud outburst from what she could tell was a distance away. But a distance that was easily closed as a man came to a crisp landing near she and her friend and began to spew words of a challenge, romance and physical features. A display and gesture that had her lowering her head in silent disapproval as the man finished with an expected remark. A remark and act that began to remind her of a man she'd heard of from her travels. Master Dandleion.
Tilting her head sideways to look at the Dandy, her eyes angled to look at him from beneath her brows as he saluted them in a traditional Makashi style and without a word she adjusted her posture, sliding the foot closest to him forward and the other behind it in a wide posture that seemingly matched Niman as she held the staff in her hand so she could heft it and use only one blade, the brilliant purple blade springing to life as her face turned to a deadly calm. While she was always keen on a match, a spar or a friendly bout, a duel for the hand of she or her friend on the grounds that they subject themselves to him or ignore him entirely was just the excuse she needed to quell the tumultuous emotions that lingered from her ruminations on the past. "Amlu, form."

Amy sputtered as the words spewed forth. "You wanna what now?!" She squealed all pretense of stance forgotten her saber hung loosely at her side as she stared in disbelief from the yellow haired man, and back to Kadea. "Hold it! You can't just barge into the middle of a sparring match and declare you get to date one of us...whoever you are you!" She said with an outraged tone. "You can fight for HER hand." She said pointing at Kadea, basically throwing her under the speeder. Still looking affronted, she disengaged her lightsaber and stepped back and to the side so she was in-between the two. "I'll officiate, no killing blows, and only basic force moves allowed, like pushing and jumping, no tossing stuff at eachother, and no grips. Clear?" She said with her brow raised and her brown eyes still unblinking. "I'll call the hits, don't worry I'll be unbiased." And she was telling the truth, she couldn't lie to save her butt.

"Core force powers it is." Said Dandleion, a gleam in his eye, and a smirk on his lip. Thumbing the power stud on his saber, the blade changed to a different pitch as he switched the blade from lethal to training mode. "You're lucky...my telekinesis is far superior to a Jedi's." The smile faded, slowly, though, and a look came across Dandleions face. A look of utter seriousness. If his opponent was skilled, they would notice it - the calculating eyes, the calm assessment, the collected demeanor of a true warrior. But, as quick as it had came, it left, in its place the easy going smile and passionate eyes that had first greeted them.
Dandleion drew on the force heavily then, with such speed and ferocity that several loose pebbles rolled across the ground towards him. Outwardly, his stance changed very little; an imperceptible shift in weight, a slide of a foot, a sway of the shoulders. His eyes, though passionate and smiling, quickly flicked across her form, evaluating. All sex appeal aside, she was in a classic Niman stance - her position was wide, and well suited to wield the staff she carried. No doubt she was either training to wield a double blade, or, and the more likely of the two, she was a specialist such as himself. However, he could make no assumptions. It could very well be a ruse, as to put him off guard, and to allow her to shift into another form. Only time and actual combat would reveal more about her. Calmly, silently, with his easy smile and darting eyes, Dandleion eyed the woman as he drew on the force, refusing to make the first move. "We begin. Have you thought of a restaurant yet? Personally I like Coruscant better, but, well...we're a ways from civilized space. Perhaps discussing what you will wear is more appropriate? I was thinking black, or red. But, then, these are erotic colors for my species - what about yours? Any particular colors? No matter. I'm sure time and experience will be very telling. Very...revealing?"

He spoke again as Amlu explained the rules, taking the preference not to fight and isolating herself on the sideline. It was an act that Kedea had expected in a situation like this, but did not go without a small hint of disappointment as it washed over her though her outward stance did not change. Rather her focus remained on the man across from her, her saber held low and angled towards the ground as she kept her eyes on him. It was then that a sudden sweep of energy passed by her and he felt different. Something that had her reevaluating her stance as she eyed him, flicking her eyes to his saber and up to his eyes which now had a seriousness to them. He was ready and as he had shifted his saber to non-lethal she was prepared to do the same.
Drawing upon the Force herself, she moved quickly and brought her saberstaff up slowly to keep the blade from grazing the ground as she flipped it and held it aloft from just past the middle. Then in one single instant she ignited the second blade and adjusted both blades into their training phase. Her eyes did not change, her posture the same but it was what she did next that differentiated her form from what she had planned previously. It was from there that she lowered the staff down just level with her waist as the man, Dandleion, continued to ramble about his plans. In what felt like an instant, the Force allowing her to move at a speed higher than one might expect, she moved into a spin. Bringing the staff down as she moved, exposing her back for a split second before closing it with the staff until she was fully rotated and brought the second blade up towards Dandy's middle. Were the strike to connect she was already prepared to bring the staff around along his blade to close the first blade into his side, a method allowing her to keep her defense closed and him with minimal options.
