And because once again her writer cannot resist:
Jade was not familiar with 'hipping hopping,' but she caught the gist of Dazbog's meaning and nodded in agreement. "Not to mention this 'twerking' thing that is sweeping across the universe with more ferocity than an army of Yuuzhan Vong with the creeping fungus. And have you seen the latest 'celebrities' storming the Holonet?" Sometimes it seemed like there was no hope for the younger generation. Just think, in another few decades the retirement complexes and nursing homes will be filled with ----a highly entertaining category of people, the kind that one never imagines in conjunction with the "sweet elderly lady" nostalgic mentality that most seem to have regarding those of the preceding generations. "And what is this 'wrecking ball' vehicle? I cannot imagine that it was designed as a personal conveyance."
The Jedi contemplated Dazbog for a moment and his words on abandonment and closeness and whatnot. A faint smile flashed across her lips, though it never made it to her eyes. "I don't get close to people for several very good reasons," she paused, and then told him something that only a bare handful of living beings in the galaxy were aware of. "Long ago, in a life that feels as if it doesn't really belong to me, I killed my son." She had been many things before becoming a Jedi, enough to know that 'good' doesn't always win. And that was one reason she felt the Jedi Order was sworn to protect those who could no longer protect themselves.
"Anyway," with the intent of putting the past firmly back in the past, "perhaps you are thirsty?"

At the mention of twerking and wrecking ball, Dazbog eyed Jade suspiciously. He then glanced around, his eyes looking past everything around him, and at something else.
"It is not. It's just something celebrities do for attention."
Dazbog lowered his head when Jade spoke of her son. He shook his head sadly.
"Yes. We all have our dark past. We can't help our past. All we can do is be better for the future."
Dazbog rubbed his chin and licked his lips.
"Yes it has been at least a few hours since I last had a cup of coffee. I could always summon up some for us."
Dazbog reached into his beard and pulled out a pair of mugs with chibi artwork of himself on the front.

Jade held up a finger, shaking her head.
"I have a rule against drinking out of cups pulled out of beards."
And it was the truth. She did. Even if she had just formulated it three seconds earlier.
"That would defeat the point of me offering to buy you a drink. Also, how long has it been since you drank in the mess hall of a Jedi Academy? Thirdly, you might meet some of the other locals. Finally, I wasn't thinking of coffee."
She tilted her head to one side, eyeing the Whill shrewdly.
"Or, have you filled up your social quota for the next century in the past hour or so?"

Dazbog seemed saddened that Jade did not want to partake in drinking from chibi Dazbog coffee mugs. He put both cups back into his beard, and then narrowed his eyes, an idea popping into his head. A thin smile came across his lips and he reached back into his beard and pulled out a coffee mug that was strikingly similar to the previous two, except that this one had a chibi version of Jade. She was even holding a lightsaber, with her free hand held out like she was about to push something away with the Force.
"What about this one?"
Dazbog held the cup out. He might not be able to control free will, but by darn-it if that mug wasn't something mesmerizing.
"I said I would like to stick around for a while, and I meant it. A Whill never goes against his word....That is unless they do. Then they do go against their word."
Dazbog snickered to himself.
"Does the Mess Hall not have a coffee machine? If so, I must rectify this nightmare at the earliest convenience. Let us march on the enemy fortifications and storm the evil beverage dispensary!"
A scabbard appeared at the Coffee Whill's hip, complete with a ancient looking bronze sword inside. His left hand went to the hilt and he drew it out. The sword itself looked like it could not cut room temperature butter, but an incredible power emanated from the sword.

Sometimes you can argue with people. Sometimes they might even come around to your point of view. Other times, there just is no point. Jade thought this might be one of those times. Once she arrived at that decision, she implemented it quickly in the form of a long-drawn out, long-suffering sigh, ending with a dramatically expressive eyeroll. Then, she took the cup. And arched an eyebrow at Daz ruefully while examining it---
"You realize I can't ever use this in front of anyone who might see? What sort of person drinks from a mug with their own face plastered on it?"
She muttered to herself, "Don't want indigestion while drinking my beverages."
"Of course we've got a coffee machine. The Academy is still standing, last I looked." She smiled warmly. Perhaps he didn't fit in among the Whills? Maybe Daz was just looking for some way to live a bit of life among mortals. Who knew?
"Shall we?" she gestured down towards a cross-corridor and turned left towards the Academy's mess hall.

Von walked into the entrance hall twirling around, flipping his hood over his head he made his way towards the exit doors. He was going to let loose finally and finally let his true personality. This Jedi aura was starting to be suffocating.
Ready to have some fun Jade, your gonna see a side you've never seen before.
Von hailed a taxi and waited for Jade to join.

*Jade followed a little ways behind Von. She wasn't sure what to make of him at the moment. The twirling around, then hiding his face under his hood left so many assumptions about him. For now, she knew that was all she could do. Following him she waited beside him for a taxi to arrive. She looked at him for a moment before looking out for the taxi.*
"Considering I've known you for an extremely short amount of time, I'm sure there are many sides that have yet to be shown."

Sabo stood quietly on the roof of the academy, starring out at Coronet City. He had tried to meditate, preferring the fresh air while doing so, but the busy city and thoughts of what Master Sontir had told him, raced though his mind. Having learned of what had transpired while he was taking his sabbatical was making it had for him to concentrate. He had known the galaxy wouldn't wait for him, that the order would be in peril. But...did he expect this? Coming back to a galaxy that he didn't recognize, to an Order in recovery? He couldn't answer the Academy Council's question "what role" did he fit into here, when he himself didn't know what role he would fill in the galaxy.
He began to yell, just to vent his frustration with the situation. Meditation was not going to be coming anytime soon.

The Academy atmosphere was one of relative tranquility lately, in spite of the spat between two ships' AI and the resultant pot shots taken in the hangar bay and the latest arrival in the infirmary. Jade took it all in stride and moved on. This evening, after the adjournment of the Corellian Council, her path took her towards the outer precincts of the Academy proper. When she heard Sabo Alora yell, she picked up her pace and rounded the corner and came out nearby. Her eyebrows arched steeply as she folded her arms and considered the situation. Undoubtedly he was dealing with a lot. As she did not know him very well, she guessed that it was probably his reaction to the news of Yavin IV. If it was something less she would have thought that the presence of a Master yelling in the open was most likely not a good example to set for other Jedi.
Making no effort to hide, she walked over closer, footsteps padding lightly across the paving stones. She leaned against a pillar about five feet away and watched him in silence. He'd know she was there when he was ready. For her, it was a matter of honor not to intrude upon someone else's grief.

Sabo felt her approach, knew she was there, but just kept yelling until it was all out of his system. As the minutes past, he knew he was doing himself no good. Standing here, looking the fool as he shouted endlessly into the sky. Realizing this couldn't simply be solved by venting his frustration, he slowly quietened.
Sighing heavily, he starred out into the midday sky. Not turning to look at her, he used his sense to gauge the tenor of her thoughts. At least it wasn't pity that he sensed, that relieved him. He turned his head to look over his shoulder at her. He knew her face, the master that just this afternoon had been appointed to this academy's council. Did he honestly expect no one to notice him yelling? Twice the fool! He thought to himself.
"Apologies Master Jade. I did not wish to disturb anyone."
The look on his face was apologetic, serving the purpose of hiding his pain beneath its mask.

"It takes more than yelling to disturb me, Master Alora," she replied calmly, approaching him as he spoke to her. "Though, if privacy is what you seek, I might recommend heading a bit further away from the Academy into the mountains, or perhaps the training rooms." In a more energetic sparring match some noise was to be expected.
"If your expression is a clue," she waved gently in the direction of his face before clasping her hands loosely behind her back, "I would guess you have been much more secluded from the galaxy at large than I thought, as you have only just now heard of what befall the Praxeum on Yavin IV?"
"That, and I've seen a mask like you wear before," also as he'd asked her about Raven Alora earlier and been surprised that she had nothing to tell him, she suspected he felt alone within the Jedi Order right now. "So, if you need to talk, I'm willing to listen," she offered.

"We all wear mask at some point, Master Jade."Sabo gives her a brief smile, not really feeling the expression. He turns away, starring back towards the horizon, needing to collect his thoughts on the matter. "I've never been one for words, truth is I feel more comfortable in combat then expressing my emotions. I'm a Guardian, that was the path I chose at the Academy on Yavin IV, and am one in my very soul."
He pauses, gritting his teeth and trying to reign back tears. "But my soul..." He sighs. "I'm lost Master Jade. For three years, I secluded myself. Thinking I was doing the right thing by staying away, giving the order a chance to grow it's relationship with the New Republic."
He clenches his fist, at the next. Saying the word with poorly veiled contempt."Mandalorians!" The dust on the ground begins to swirling furiously in his anger. "I return to find my sister missing, and those animals having destroyed one of the few places I ever really called home. Honestly, Master Jade, how am I suppose to feel?"

"That is very true, Master Alora," she nodded acquiescence. She understood that speaking was not the primary way in which some people felt comfortable in expressing extreme emotions. "Hmmm."
She walked over closer and stopped, facing him. Dark green eyes gazed at him directly, willing him to look at her. The diminutive Master was vaguely aware of the crick that was threatening to develop in her neck from having to look up at him. "I once felt lost within the Order, and sometimes I still do," she hesitated, trying to find the words to explain something that she herself wasn't comfortable speaking of. "I had only one real friend, Serrin Roma, and she finally convinced me to join the Corellian Academy and work with her. Shortly after I arrived here, she went missing---and for some reason, I stayed."
"I am sorry for the losses you have experienced, but I urge you not to lose yourself in that grief. Many have known similar bereavement," she raised a hand to head off a potential interruption as she had a specific reason for telling him this, "so you are not alone. Draw strength from this, and find a way to carry on. The Praxeum on Yavin IV has been shaken and badly, but it is attempting to heal itself and rebuild. While the losses cannot be replaced or forgotten, the Order must remain strong in the face of the Empire."
"There were one or two survivors of the Praxeum, but I am unaware of the particulars of your personal life," he might need to return there to lay the ghosts of the past to rest, but he might also need to take time for himself to let the pain heal. He would already know that the sparring rooms of the Academy here on Corellia were at his service if he needed to wear himself out in a physical fashion. "I expect you feel anger, but do not let it eat up your being. Remember your family from Yavin, and live for them. There is much to be done yet... and I fear relations with the New Republic are not what we could hope for."

"The Academy has been destroyed many a time, Master Jade. Always to be rebuilt, always to continue it's purpose." Her words where having a calming affect on him, and he was letting it show. His shoulders relaxed, the dust settled, the furrow in his brow smoothed out. Sabo looks up at her after having kept his eyes to the ground, almost as if he felt her urging him too. His light blue eyes met her dark green, and Sabo was locked in her gaze. She was closer now, closer than he had expected, but Sabo kept his feet planted. "Your eyes..."he pauses breifly, collecting his thoughts. "They do your last name justice, Master Jade."
"I do sometimes lose control of myself, but please don't be mistaken. It isn't grief that I feel, nor the pain of loss, for the force tells me their not dead. No, Master Jade, I am more upset with myself. I abandon them on Tython, after learning of the High Council's plan to ally the Order with the New Republic. I spoke out against, and by your words, I may have been right too. But I still left them."
He was fighting back a deeper emotion now, tears threatening the corner of his eyes. He looked towards the horizon, breaking her gaze. Desperately trying to compose himself.
"Perhaps I would have just been another one of the dead, perhaps I would have made the difference. We'll never know, but..." He didn't know what else to say, his mind was blank. The conversation had taken its toll on him, and all he wanted now was a change in subject matter. He wiped his face on the sleeve of his robes, turning his head back to her. "What happened with the New Republic?"

"Indeed. There are always Jedi," she smiled at that thought. They had survived Order 66. Not personally of course, but their existence now was a defiance of that infamous decree. It pleased her.
Sabo's clear sapphire blue eyes reminded her of the sea after a tremendous tempest. However, that was a thought she kept to herself. The diminutive Master smiled as she told him something that very few people knew. "Jade is the surname I chose for myself at a time when I needed to use a name that was not my own," she shrugged, "and then I became used to it." That was a simplification of course, but most humans couldn't even pronounce her genuine house name, and while she would never return to her homeworld, she still did not enjoy hearing her language mangled.
"Aye, you did," she confirmed gently, "and I was never there." While it would sounded fine in lessons to tell impressionable young minds that they were the lynchpins of the galaxy, when it really came down to brass tacks the truth was that one single drop in the ocean was just that: a single drop. When joined to multitudes of others, it formed an ocean. "You would most probably be one with the Force, Sabo," she watched to see if he minded the use of his first name, "instead, you are here to continue an ancient tradition."
She sighed and checked her comlink. "I would prefer to speak to you of the Republic later, when the facts have been ascertained. I received a call from Shihab Mahir, Jedi Knight, and I know it was sent to the other High Councilors. Afterwards, perhaps over dinner, there will be certainties instead of speculation."

"Well, you choose wisely. It's a beautiful name, and it suits you." His smile was genuine, he was certain that anyone starring into her eyes would be lost in them, reminded of a lush rain Forrest. "I like it."
When she spoke his first name, Sabo felt strange. Not that he minded in the least bit, he was always "Master Sabo" to his students and peers. To him, "Master Alora", was his sister's title, a title she had earned rightfully. No, hearing Ael speak his name felt different, and he didn't understand why it did. He knew it shouldn't, but it did. "Maybe so... I shouldn't dwell on events that are in the past. Instead, I should look towards more joyous opportunities."
She had made him move past his concerns more quickly than anyone else could have. He thought Raven was the only one who had the courage to approach him when he got into one of his moods, but Ael had shown more aptitude for the situation than even his sister.
Again, the smile on his face was genuine as he bowed to her. "I look forward to dinner then, Master Ja... Ael!"

"I thank you," Jade replied, a bit nonplussed. She accepted the compliment, but wasn't sure what to do with it. Though, she was aware that humans tended to be more free with saying things of that kind. Even after several decades of practice she still missed the occasional nuance.
At least, he seemed to be more relieved than angry at the moment, and this was a marked contrast to just a few minutes earlier this late afternoon. "I believe you still have your sister, Raven?" she inquired, not expecting him to simply forget about his grief over Yavin. It would be healthier for him to deal with it, rather than pretend it didn't exist and ignore it. Such actions tended to make problems bigger and they generally returned with all the subtly of a rampaging bantha at the least opportune moments.
She inclined her head in reply, "I should be free in a few hours, around say 2100?" That might be outside his usual window for partaking of food, but she usually ate when she needed food, and there were a couple matters demanding her attention at the moment.
The small woman blinked as he switched to her actual first name. The skin of her face darkened for a moment. People usually just shortened it to 'Jade' mostly because not many knew her real name. That had changed since she'd arrived on Corellia. The Academy's personnel files had been updated, in fact, she'd done it herself, but it meant she lost the anonymity she'd maintained prior to her arrival here. Until about a year ago, the only ones who knew her name were Yseult, Serrin Roma, and finally Z'har. It was taking her awhile to adjust. Her life had been balanced on a very narrow edge for years, but not anymore. Old habits died hard though.
Something belatedly occurred to her and she inquired, "Have you been assigned a room yet?" She'd nearly overlooked the fact that he had only recently arrived planetside after a long trip from Felucia.

Sabo sighed at the mention of Raven's name. Truth was he didn't know how to answer Ael. Like most of the order, he hadn't seen his sister in a few years now. Not since Tython three years ago, not since he left the order. He runs his left hand through his hair, holding it in place at the base of his neck. His hair was coarse and rough, but all that time on Tattooine would do that to you, he guessed. He looks down at Ael with uncertainty.
"One can only hope, I left her on Tython as well. But one of the apprentices here told me that Raven hadn't been seen in awhile either. What that means... I'm not sure. Our connection through the force is strong, and I believe her to be alive."He took comfort in the knowledge that his sister was indeed alive. It made him feel better about his current predicament.
He nods his head in agreement to the time. "I'm usually up late. Tattooine having two suns and all, usually doesn't get dark enough to fall asleep early. And no, I've have not had a room assigned to me yet. Though I usually do okay with a cold shower and cot, if nothing is available."

She gave him the space she felt he needed, sensing that he was aware of his sister, but disconcerted by her absence from the current Jedi Order. "There is undoubtedly a perfectly logical explanation for her withdrawal from the mainstream workings of the Academies at this time. Some of our newer students have been brought in from distant worlds and have not yet arrived at a comprehensive knowledge of recent Jedi history." The diminutive Master reached a hand to the back of her neck and rubbed the crick that was forming there. Sabo was taller than herself. In fact, most beings here on Corellia were taller than herself. Some Jedi might have felt that acknowledging something so mundane (neck crick) was beneath the dignity of a Jedi Master and a Councilor no less, but Jade did not share this opinion. People have the same kinds of problems and issues, and attempting to ignore them or suppress them often just made things worse.
"If you will allow me to suggest," she offered, "we could make your stay here on Corellia known, particularly on Felucia. Then, when she decides the time is right, she will have an idea of where to contact you." This presumed of course that he intended to stay on Corellia for some length of time. She wasn't sure where the Force would take him, but so far it seemed that he would be here for a bit.
"Ah, I see," she replied. She had spent so many years in locations that had artificial day/night light cycles that sometimes she still forgot how countless billions of species regulated their sleeping and waking hours by the suns orbiting their worlds. "Well," she pulled out her datapad and whisked up a quick schematic of the Academy's residential wing. Tapping the surface of the datapad, she found what she was looking for and offered him the datapad for a moment. "Here," she pointed to several empty rooms on the Knights/Masters' Level between her quarters, Terra's, Serrin Roma's and Will Sontir's, "any of these should work for you," assuming that he wouldn't mind being classed into a living space with the amenities that Masters at the Academy usually had. "We have a long way to go yet till we are at capacity, though the students and padawans quarters are much livelier than they have been in some months."

He inclined his head in agreement. That sounded like his sister indeed. "She always was a molder of young minds, I willing to bet you're right , Ael." He smiled to show his gratitude for her attempt to comfort him, it felt awkward.
He took a moment to ponder her suggestion. If Feluica knew of his return, it might spur his sister into reaching out. Though going back there was not what he wanted to do at the moment, but eventually he knew that he would."That is a magnificent idea, Ael. Please do that for me."
He took the datapad from her, looking to where she pointed on the map. Again he nodded his head in agreement. "Thank you, that will do just fine. It's good to hear the younger generation is still around." He bowed to her, taking his leave. Turning around as he reached the exit from the roof. "You know where to find when you're ready for dinner." He shouted just over the wind, before disappearing through the door/
