-Twenty years prior-
Rain slammed into the ground as Jason slowly forced himself to his feet. The pain running through his body was greater than he had ever felt, even when he been tortured by Omega he did not feel the sheer agony that ran through him as he did now. His eyes shot to the left and right as he saw his best friend in the world face down in the mud with a deep gash on his back. His sister, arms around his crying son as she tried to shield him from the dangers ahead of them. And finally... his wife. The one person that brought him back from the edge when he had been captured and his very mind had been assaulted. In the end, it had been her to drag him back to the light when he had been convinced that the only things left in life were destroyed. His breathing was ragged as he raised his lightsaber up and held in a defensive manner as he eyed his brother. Jacob Dramon.
"This isn't too late, Jacob..." Jason slowly lowered the lightsaber. "We can stop this... I can help you! I can undo what he did to you! Just let m-"
"You....took everything from me. Mom and dad are DEAD because of you!" Jacob snarled as his red blade raised again. "You truly think that you can replace them? You think that you and Sophia are 'family'? No... you are just mistaken. Mistakes that should never have existed and who ruined my life. I will have my revenge against you and what you have done!"
Jason did not respond verbally. He knew that the time for talking was over. He threw his lightsaber at Jacob as he ignited his black blade. Before it reached Jacob he pulled it back to his hand and used the momentary confusion to slam his foot into Lucas' gut and drove him back. The pair exchanged blow after blow as the rain fell around them. One exuding an aura of pure hatred and darkness while the other a desperation enveloped by fear for his family and the woman he loved. A crack of lightning slammed near them forcing the two men apart. Jason looked down at his silver lightsaber and cursed softly as he saw it spark and shut down. Overloaded.... Damn... He threw it aside as he raised his black lightsaber up ready to defend himself again. Jacob smiled darkly and held out a hand and Jason prepared himself to defend himself only to change his look of horror as Jacob shot Force Lightning at his sister, son, and wife. Lightning turned away from the attack as she cradled a now crying Viron but Jason watched a bolt go straight through her while Sophia tried to bring her own lightsaber up to defend herself and barely accomplished it.
"LIGHTNING!!!! NO!"
He sprinted forward and with strength and speed that he did not know he had left in his body he grabbed the lightning out of the air and allowed it to run through his body and empower him. He let out a roar of anger as he threw his black blade away and held his other hand into the air as his roar of rage grew louder and a bolt of lightning slammed down and into him. His eyes did not dare to move from his target as he channeled the energy through his body and allowed it to become one with his spirit. The air began to swirl around him as he continued. Jacob staggered back as wind slammed into him at speeds that some would best describe as 'tornadic'. Few moments in Jasons' life prepared himself for moments like this and despite his anger and despite his rage time seemed to slow for him as he was able to take in everything he was feeling and seeing in this moment. The things that had brought him to this moment and the regrets that he knew he would be carrying for the rest of his life. But in the one moment this happened he knew this was worth it. To rid the galaxy of an evil that would do all that his brother had done.
For the lives you have taken... for the future you have snatched away. For the atrocities that others cannot forget. I will destroy you, Jacob.... I wish... The thought faded from his mind for a moment as he locked his eyes with his brother as he fought to remain on his feet. The man's eyes were on the fallen woman and child as he began to laugh with a madness that surpassed any that Jason had ever seen. Jason closed his eyes for a moment as the rage returned and flowed through his body as if it were blood. Burn in hell. He released the energy he had been building and a blast of pure electricity emitted from him, the sky and seemingly the earth. They slammed into the man over and over as Jason screamed in rage. There was no sound from his brother except for the laughter. The laughter that Jason would remember for the rest of his life.
Then just as quickly as it all begun the weather calmed and the dangerous light show faded. The clearing was left in a deathly calm as none moved or even dared to speak as the smoke cleared in from of him. What was left could barely be considered remains but Jason cared little about that. He turned and dropped to his knees to pick up gently his wife. Her eyes were charred and her lips blacked as she struggled to breathe and form words.
"Is.... Viron ok...?"
Jason looked down at her stomach where the unmoving bundle was held tightly. Blood soaked his blanket and Jason felt another part him die inside as he saw the lifeless eyes looking up at him. He reached down and slowly closed them as tears ran down his face. She was dying too. He knew it in his heart and soul but the question made him feel like he wanted to go back and keep fighting his brother for the next hundred years.
"He's fine... I love you Lightning.... so much... please....dont leave me... I need you...I need you both..."
"I...love you too Jason..... You will always be... the greatest...light...of...my....life."

-Present Day-
Jason pushed the memory from his mind as the turbolift doors opened and he headed down the hallway past the training room and towards the crystal room. Long ago he had and others had moved the crystals meant for lightsabers from the Jedi Temple into the hidden bunker. It had been a good thing too because the Temple had been one of the first places that the Mandalorians assaulted when they attacked years earlier. He sighed as he rubbed his temple as he rounded a corner and saw a small brown cloaked form running towards the locked door with anger almost being able to see running off the boy.
"Riuk! You mind telling me what you think you are doing?" Jason attempted to keep the annoyance out of his tone but only partially succeded. He had been isolated from others of his age for a long time. There were others who were Knights and could train but few had seen the things that he had and even less knew the type of pain that he did. Alana was one of the few but that was only because of the pain that had run through her own life as well. Even then he missed his old friends from time to time.
"Master! I was... I was...." The young devaronian squared his shoulders and pointed a finger at Jason. "I am tired of being held back! I want a lightsaber and I deserve one! I am one of the strongest of the padawans and I am ready for it. Stop holding us back... Master."
Jason sighed softly as he ran a hand over his face and shook his head slightly as he slowly approached the teenager. "Listen to me... You think you have that strength? It takes more than to be a Jedi. A lightsaber may be something you think is used every day but it is not the biggest weapon of a Jedi. It is your mind and your heart. When you understand that then you will be ready for a lightsaber. As I recall... you couldn't even best some of the other padawans in their exercises using the Force. It is one thing to want to be the best but you must understand that you cannot ignore your heart and mind. If you listen. Truly listen then they will tell you the right now answer. Right now you are just listening to one. Once you have mastered that then you may move on to using and understanding a Jedi's lightsaber."
The boy stood silent for several seconds before he bowed his head gently and nodded at the Jedi Master. "I understand.... I will go and resume my studies." He turned and walked off without another word. Jason could still sense the frustration in him but there was still that ray of hope that he could feel. The understanding of what he said did register with the boy, even if he did not want to admit it. Jason let another deep breath wash over him as he ran a hand over his face and turned to head towards the fountain room where he liked to meditate.
