Sorry, I didn't realize we weren't welcome here. I just didn't want people getting the wrong idea about what we're trying to do. Not at all! Just doing my bit to keep the thread on track.

Waiting on Spectre. Silas doesn't really have much to add.

I didn't get any word from our injured Captain, but Fenrir mentioned Juvex Imports. Why some shipping company is interested in Slaves is beyond me.
As for the plan, it sounds good. How I arrive at the ambush matters little, just that the wrong is righted.

Looking around, it seemed as though everyone had arrived -- though the absence of Fenrir - someone who spoke as leader - still loomed large. Taking a pull on his beer and wiping the froth from his mouth with the back of a hand, Silas speaks to Neassa.
So, what's your plan, warrior?

Silas follows the thin, wiry near-human woman who seems to know where she's going, and just takes it all in. Nysato. A city with the population of a hundred towns on his world. He has never seen the like. Different from Juvex. Cleaner. Not such an air of oppression. He hoped he wasn't looking too much like a tourist. The Preacher refocuses on the here and now.
They made a motley assortment. The Near-Human woman was dressed simply, with few adornments to belie her station or position. The girl Erly and her two reptilian pets, Silas himself, who looked more suited to a parched and weather-beaten frontier than a city, and the armored woman and her acquaintance bringing up the rear. Silas would have said they looked out of place... but he couldn't imagine a place where they'd all fit in. There was no point in stating the obvious.
The cantina was a decent sort of place. Not terribly seedy. He ordered a beer and went to join the others where the Armored Man was waiting.

Silas thought, and continued to think as the thin, wiry woman laid out the closest thing to a rational idea he'd heard since this ship-wide meeting began. The Armored man had driven a wedge between the slaves and their freedom, and though there was a portion of him that desperately wanted to join the two helmeted warriors, he did not want to premeditate a killing, as that too could be justifiably judged. But were the new owners of the slaves not equally culpable as the dealers? Could a premeditation not be seen as right and just in this case?
He had bristled at some of Fenrir's barbs -- the armored man's too, but had let that slide. At the core, the man was merely trying to get paid, to keep his crew mobile and employable. That was noble. But he had been buoyed by the number of assembled beings who seemed to have a distaste for the work as he did, and so when Fenrir left, followed by the other Fierce man, it had been with a sense of relief that Silas had relaxed his posture, and only then realized that his hand had strayed back to the hilt of his saber. He shook the tension from his shoulders and removed his hat, placing it on the nearby table. Taking a moment to release his long black hair and re-tie the ponytail at the nape of his neck, he spoke to the room in general, and the assembled crew that remained.
For my part in that, I am sorry. It was not my intention to be the cause of so much unrest. He watches Jemima leave, followed dutifully by the seven 'passengers,' whom he nods solemnly to. I have a lot to learn about working with other folks. Been too long on my own. It would seem that it isn't as easy as simply freeing slaves. But they'll get their freedom soon, one way or another. For that, and for the offer of medical attention, he focuses on Connie you have my thanks.
He picks up his hat, and makes for the planetfall ramp to join Neassa and Spectre, but pauses at the top, turning back to the room looking from Erly to Connie.
I've been a trouble to you, but I've also been a help. Y'all don't know me, but please, believe me when I say I'm not out looking for trouble. I don't want things to get complicated, they just tend to go that way on their own. Look, Connie -- he doesn't even pause after using a term pulled directly from Adrien's unconscious mind -- I don't have much experience aboard a ship. But you're right when you said we need to learn what makes each-other tick. We've got holes to fill in this roster, but I can't help but wonder, 'cause my head's full of names and faces: where are Mack and Dax? Ace and Rachel? Ben and Nika? Seems they'd be able to help out. a pause, where it's possible the realization crosses his face that what he just said was crazy. Anyways. I'd 'preciate you coming along to see what the Armored man has to say. If the plan's any good, I'll do what it takes to free these people. After that, if it's all the same to you, I'll stay on a while. See the 'verse. Seems there's a lot out there.
He opens an arm, offering the way out. Donning his wide-brim hat, he looks back into the room.
You coming, Erly?

Nah. You want to deliver them and then shoot up the place, thereby 'removing the demand,' so be it.

Silas listened while some chimed in, and also looked from face to face of each of the assembled crew. Those who didn't speak were thunderous in their silence. But ultimately, it was something Fenrir said which he paid the most attention to.
I fought alongside your crew in Juvex city. Took down more than one would-be assassin on your behalf before getting swept along with the departure. Fought again to save the life of your injured Captain. Way I see it, Fenrir, we're even. If I truly believed I owed you something, you can rest assured I'd follow orders and do as asked, till you saw fit to discharge me. But that ain't how it is, or was. Dark sun -- I don't even know the names of some of your people, any more'n I know the names of your 'passengers.' a pause You asked whether the smugglers' life is right for us, and that we had best make our minds up right hasty. Not that I knew what your business was, or how this boat operated when I came on board, nor was I given any choice in the matter... but there's enough cargo in the galaxy that is righteous, and that I'd watch your back over, and enough jobs where the right people are being helped along, and mebbe the wrong sort of people are getting the short end of the deal, and for that I'd lend you my sword and my strength.
But if your intent is to keep working for this 'Juvex' company, and carry on running slaves, then it's best if we part ways now. No hard feelings. Your passengers and I will disembark now, and that'll be that. Your choice, Captain... and I'll be the first to agree -- I'm a long way from home. Maybe best I keep my opinions to myself in future.
He stood ready for anything. Could be the Fierce man would yell for the Preacher to be gunned down in cold blood, could be he was really listening to the others, and was ready to make a change. It could fall anywhere in the spectrum of one to the other, and so Preacher stood in a ready stance, just in case.

ok... tried to get a post together just now, on my mother-in-law's computer. But I went to highlight text and apply the 'narrate' color, and left-clicking erased the text. Tried again with 'Action,' same deal. I think she's got her mouse set up in some weirdo way, which has succeeded in deleting most of my post. So I'm just going to wait till I'm home.
(unless the site is experiencing some kind of huge coding glitch...)

Trent, if I'm right we currently have aboard:
Fenrir Asikari (acting Cap'n) Leon Asikari (NPC, Fenrir's bro) Spectre (Mando badass) Neassa Or'dini (Spectre's bodyguard.) Constanza Vinti (mechanic, founding Draykon crewmember) Kiri (been too busy / MIA for awhile) Dice (pilot, been too busy / MIA for awhile) Erly Ryzer Jemima Saccharo (doctor) Preacher (though it's not yet clear if I'm a part of the crew, or just catching a ride.)
As for me as a leader, I don't think Preacher is good leadership material. (And Trent, I also write Krayton.)

Connie, I've read and re-read, but I've got to know... Whose voice spoke the last bits of your post, the bit about anything you need to do, and revealing Ade's real name?
