It had been several years. Kaine had had his apprehensions about returning to Manda'yaim, but he had no regrets ever since landing. The smells, the air, it was home. Home was worth all the baggage. Whatever challenges awaited, he would meet them as Mando'ad. What was necessary, he would do. And he would ensure Mandalore stood strong and defiant once again.
Removing their helms and clipping them to their belts as they entered, Kaine, accompanied by his loyal companion, Darzeka, walked into Oyu'baat. Kaine's blue eyes took in the crowd, and then he headed for the bar, and ordered tihaar for the both of them. Once their drinks arrived, Kaine raised his glass high, and Darzeka followed suit.
To Clan Australis, and Mandalore! Darzeka echoed the toast. Ordering a second round, he made one of his own. To General Kaine, back from the dead! Kaine laughed and drank. The two slugs of tihaar in quick succession gave him a nice headspin, and he took a stool, as his companion did the same.
It's been far too long, vod'ika. Tell me what you've been up to. I'm sure it was more interesting than prison. The two men began a long conversation, where Darzeka detailed the fall of the clan, all the deaths and destruction, the failed crusade, and the diaspora. Kaine took it all in, and filled his friend in on the events that led to his capture and imprisonment on Belsavis, and the exploits that had led to his escape. He left out a few dishonourable parts, no one needed to hear the depths he'd sunk to in order to survive, but it was good to finally get it all out. The two friends shared a cathartic moment, and both were the better for having laid their burdens down.
Now, they could both look to the future unencumbered by the weight of the past. For their Clan needed them. And so, Kaine thought, did the Mando'ade.

Strictly speaking, it wasn't a sensible action to arrive anywhere in the Mandalore sector with a battle fleet. Unless of course, that fleet was under Mandalorian command. Though Kaine's intentions were anything but hostile, he didn't know what sort of reception his return would engender. The fleet would arrive and form up, and he would lead his people's return. If there were those that objected, he would deal with them as needed.
A single Nebulon-B frigate exited hyperspace, and almost immediately, a lone bes'uliik fighter exited and flew ahead of the frigate. A minute later, the rest of the fleet arrived from Bonadan, and a second fighter flew out from Doomhammer to take position on Kaine's wing. The two Bes'uliike flew point as the Keldabes, Nebulon-Bs and Lancers of Kaine's fleet moved in toward Manda'yaim. Kaine's fleet was broadcasting IFF identifying themselves as Clan Australis, and their status was alert, but not preparing for combat. Kaine signaled Doomhammer, which broadcast a powerful open comm signal across all frequencies;
This is General Kaine Australis.
We are here of our own volition, representing a Clan that can no longer stand by and watch one of their greatest triumphs falling into darkness and despair. We are here on behalf of the thousands of vode murdered or ordered to meaningless deaths by a series of inept leaders, who have no one else to speak for them. And on behalf of the Mandalorian units that have joined us to oppose the tyranny that has darkened Mandalore ever since General Kaine disappeared three years ago. We are here to return our Government to the hands of her people. We know that many of you have wanted to act, but have been intimidated by threats of retaliation against your families, your friends, you are not alone anymore. We call upon you to rise up and do what's right. We have brought our forces here to Manda'yaim, and prepared them. The time to act is now! This is not the voice of treason, these are your sons, your daughters, whose loyalties have never wavered. Whose belief in Mandalore has forced us to take extraordinary means. For justice... for Mandalore... for the future... WE HAVE COME HOME!
Once the fleet got to orbit and began to spread out in a holding formation, the two fighters angled away and down towards Keldabe.

Two craft flew out from Tatooine on separate vectors, only an hour apart. The first was a black bes'uliik fighter that streaked away to space and angled in to the Nebulon-B frigate in low orbit. Once the fighter was aboard, the frigate fired its engines and pushed up and away from the desert planet. The frigate's powerful engines brought it swiftly away, and once it got clear of Tatooine's mass shadow, the frigate quickly jumped away toward the Hydian Way. The second was a lumbering GR-75 transport that lifted from Mos Espa and headed away ponderously toward space. It took its time clearing the gravity well, and made to run up to hyperspace. That took a while, but eventually it too jumped away, toward the outer rim and beyond.

Upon leaving Hokaar, Kaine ignored the approaching Hutt scum and quickly jogged the couple of blocks to where Amauri Vos had lowered his fighter to the ground and popped the canopy. In under a minute, they were in the air and streaking towards space. Kaine looked over his shoulder at the Kiffar.
Thanks for the pickup. We'll have to come back later for the cargo.
There was more than a hint of amusement in Amauri's reply. No need, General. While you were playing around, I found what you were looking for in the second location on your list. The cargo is being loaded and will be conveyed to the rendezvous location outside the Bonadan system.
She had the distinct pleasure of enjoying Kaine's several seconds of utter disbelief, before he recovered himself enough to speak. That's... some good work. I'll have to add slicing to the list of your skills.
Amauri gave him a quick laugh. There isn't much I can't do, General.
The fighter sped away from Tatooine, and headed into space. Only an hour behind it, a GR-75 transport lifted from Mos Espa and angled away on a different exit vector, bearing the General's cargo.

A group of transports both large and small exited hyperspace in the isolated section of the outer Bonadan system, quite close to the assembled fleet. One of the smaller transports, an old SoroSuub freighter, led the ragtag group in toward the biggest vessels, angling toward the lead ship, whose IFF read as Doomhammer.
Darzeka Australis, piloting the SoruSuub freighter, noted the name. Kaine's flagship, though the one he'd known was presumed lost years ago. On inspection, this one didn't have the hull scarring and welded patches of the old ship, and he surmised his aliit alor had been busy since his return from the dead; a story Darzeka looked forward to hearing, much more than he anticipated telling Kaine of the fall of the Clan.
A signal came in from the Doomhammer, as he'd expected. He transmitted his Clan command code, and opened a channel.
Darzeka Australis to Doomhammer. We're coming in. Need billets for the boys.
A calm, confident female voice came over the comm.
Read you, Colonel. This is Commodore Kryze on Doomhammer. You and your men are cleared to come in. And, on behalf of the General, welcome.
Darzeka grinned, Kaine seemed to have a knack for finding good people and putting them in charge of things. This Commodore sounded the straight goods. He looked forward to meeting her. He keyed the comm. Acknowledged, Commander. I'll see you soon. Darzeka out. He then switched over to the Clan frequency to talk to the following transports.
This is actual. Arrival confirmed, disperse according to direction from fleet ops on Doomhammer. Get squared away and await further orders. Best behaviour, this is our new home for the time being. Australis actual, out. Darzeka deactivated the comm, and piloted his battered freighter into Doomhammer's hangar.
Once aboard, he saw that the ship's staff were waiting with crew assignments, and he left his second in command to oversee, while he made his way up to the bridge. Upon entering, he picked out Commodore Kryze immediately, and made his way over to stand beside her.
She turned, and faced him, dismissing the lieutenant reporting to her, who scurried away with a glance at the arrivng Mando. Darzeka spoke first.
Colonel Darzeka Australis. I was expecting to meet the General. It's been.. a long time.
Auriana smiled at him. Kaine had left notes regarding the potential arrival of some of his former Mandalorian comrades. In the notes, he had expressed clearly that Darzeka was to be treated as her equal, and that the two of them should divide the responsibilities. Though she didn't fancy sharing command, Auriana saw how it made sense. She was learning that General Kaine put people in charge of things they knew best, and trusted them not to let him down.
Colonel. The General speaks very highly of you. It is his wish that you assume joint command of this force. I suggest that you take supreme command of all ground forces, while I will retain fleet command. Mentally, she crossed her fingers. If he baulked, this could all fall apart before it began. Fortunately, Darzeka was as sensible as his General.
That makes good sense. I accept, Commodore. You look after yours, and I will mine. I look forward to working with you.
As I do you, Colonel. Now, i'm sure you wish to see to your men. Let me know once you have them settled. I look forward to working with you too.
Darzeka nodded, but didn't salute. Auriana nodded in return, and their eyes met in understanding. Then he turned and exited the bridge. Heading off to see that the entire contingent was settled in across the fleet, Darzeka felt alive again. He was back doing what he loved. And that Commodore Kryze was... impressive. Little did he know that Commodore Auriana Kryze was at that moment thinking the exact same of him.
And so, General Kaine's force now included a full battle regiment of Clan Australis supercommandos, in support of his ready battle fleet. For the first time in years, he was a General in more than name. This force would be ready when he returned to it, Darzeka and Auriana would make sure of it. As it turned out, General Kaine wouldn't be returning to the fleet, it would come to him.
A coded signal arrived on Doomhammer's bridge from General Kaine. At the same time, a transport came out of hyperspace. Auriana read through the signal, and then gave orders to see that the transport was unloaded with all haste. Once this was achieved, she copied the transmission and linked it to Colonel Darzeka, and within five minutes, the fleet formed up and entered hyperspace.

Kaine listened intently to the other Mando'ad. The plan made sense, and didn't seem too suspicious, but he had a companion to find, and he didn't like the idea of leaving his bessie behind. This being Tatooine, an abandoned starfighter would bring Jawas. And he didn't want Jawas. It would be just like the little buggers to dismantle the thing and sell off the parts as junk, just to keep in practice.
Kaine turned and was about to reply to Hokaar that he had his own transport when a loud whine streaked overhead, and several loud blasts rang out, as a sleek black starfighter shot overhead, having strafed the remaining Hutt forces. It leaned over in the air and reversed direction, sliding around for a second pass, scattering the Hutt thugs that weren't obliterated by its laser cannons. Kaine saw Amauri Vos wave at him from the cockpit as she flew on overhead, hovering a couple of blocks away, then lowering the fighter to the dusty ground. Kaine nodded in the direction the fighter had gone.
Got my own ride, ner vod, but thanks for the assist. You're right that we need to get out of here though. He offered his hand for the other Mando to shake, now that they were out of immediate danger/
He decided to risk telling this vod his true name. He wasn't going to start a working relationship with anyone by lying to their face right at the start. That being said, he was still apprehensive at the sort of reaction his name would garner. A lot of vode had heard of him, but not all the rumors that circulated were good, or true. Sometimes, anonymity had its uses, but he'd had enough of that. It was time to step into the light and return to Mando society. Word would get around fast, he knew. Mentally steeling himself for what would follow in the coming months, he got on with it.
I'm Kaine Australis. He paused to let that sink in, then went on.
Meet me on Manda'yaim, in Oyu'baat, next time you're free. You and your boys are pretty handy with your hardware. I can always find useful work for skilled vode. More challenging prey, too. He added the last on a hunch. He'd seen the Toydarians fleeing with merchandise they'd presumably purchased from these Mando'ade. Had to be hunting trophies or some other exotic, and if they were buying from Mandos, that probably meant dangerous prey.
Kaine looked around briefly, and flicked a nod to some of Hokaar's associates, an unspoken thanks.
Let's hunt again, some time soon.
It was time to leave Tatooine behind and return to the center of the Mandalorian galaxy.
For his own reasons, for his aliit, and for his people. It was time for General Kaine Australis to go home.

I really think putting some energy and life into the Facebook side of things will help with bringing new members to the site.
I mean, the star wars fans are there, the writing enthusiasts are there, if we build it, they will come.
Im loving the JvS stuff that does get posted, but we can do a lot more by appealing to the wider SW loving fraternity.

Nice to find friends close at hand, thought Kaine as he ran alongside the Mando'ade who had come to his assistance with the Hutt's heavies. At first glance these guys seemed to be just as they appeared, vode conducting their own business coming to the aid of a comrade. Kaine was, however, a suspicious fellow, so he kept his guard up, just in case.
Kaine turned as he ran, and triggered a pair of minirockets from his wrist launcher, striking the third Hutt skiff that had returned and was decelerating to act as a firing platform for its crew. The rockets hit the cockpit, which belched smoke, and the nose of the craft drooped as it headed into a building, out of control. Kaine didn't stop to watch it hit, he kept running.
Hutts don't like competition. That was a slight evasion. He wasn't going to tell this stranger his business right away, at least not until he had a name and a bit of a get-to-know-you to go with the fancy beskar'gam the Mando sported.
As they rounded a corner, Kaine turned and drew both his pistols, facing back the way they had come. After only a couple of moments, footfalls sounded as the Hutt's thugs pursued the Mandos through the streets of Mos Espa. The first two to round the corner ate a hypervelocity slug each as each of Kaine's trusty pistols boomed. The massive impacts sprayed the thugs' insides against the far wall of the nearest building, and tossed their already dead corpses aside with plenty of leftover force.
Let's discourage any more pursuit, shall we? He asked Hokaar

Ok, so as for the overarching plot,
Was thinking that as the Jedi are doing the initial recon and intel bit, they would at some point contact other Jedi and Jedi-like groups to bring in assistance. One of these groups is the Kiffar Guardians, a light-side oriented order based on Kiffu. And one that has a long association with Kaine. That brings in Kaine and the rest of the Mando'ade into the IC picture.
This could happen before or after the Bad Guys raid on Onderon...

So here they were. Kaine assessed his opponent, taking in Cath's height and build. He figured he had the edge, slightly, in reach, but judged he gave up a few pounds to the other, bulkier built Mando'ad. The differences were negligible. They would fight as near equals, as it should be in an honour duel between Clan champions.
Kaine listened to Cath speak, and smiled at his opponent, looking directly into his eyes.
If you want to dance, ner vod, im sure the twi'leks can find you a job. FOR CLAN AUSTRALIS!
Bellowing the last three words as a challenge and statement of intent, Kaine advanced determinedly on Cathaoir. He gradually raised his beskad from resting position low and right, to high and central as he advanced, preparing for a heavy overhand blow. If he made it all the way to Cath without Cath moving, Kaine would strike downward at Cath's head intending to make him react. The blow would be enough to end the fight if it landed unchallenged.
His mind clear but for the competition of single combat, all Kaine's attention was on Cathaoir, watching and waiting for his opponent's response to his aggressive opening.

Plan Onderon
The Mandalorians use large high-speed maglev trains to transport materiel across the planet. A heavily armed train transporting beskar and other goodies is attacked and robbed by The Bad Guys.
I guess i'll be defending. The Bad Guys will be getting away with beskar, and whatever else isnt nailed down. I plan to make them work for it though. Ideas?

This post is a part of the Shard of Alderaan Closed RP Since the Mandalorian occupation of Onderon, new infrastructure had been going up all across the world. Though cities like Iziz were the centers of civilization on what was still a wild, untamed, world, the spaces between had little in the way of population. The Mandalorians had established several enclaves away from Iziz. These bases and outposts were connected to their supply dumps and landing areas, as well as the major cities, by the MandoRail Network.
This network of large-gauge, high-speed cargo trains that ran on maglev tracks spanning the entire planet was a marvel of engineering. Constructed to withstand the aggressive fauna of Onderon and its nearby moon of Dxun, as well as resist firepower up to capital ship size, the network would remain standing long after the walls of Iziz had crumbled to dust. It could move thousands of tonnes of cargo and personnel anywhere on the planet, and ensured the Mandalorian occupation of Onderon was both efficient and logistically sound.
The maglev tracks were suspended from colossal towers that stood every dozen kilometers or so, both powering and supporting the magnetic tracks. These huge, golden structures were laminated in beskar, super tough Mandalorian iron, making them nigh impervious to attack. A turbolaser would struggle to dent them. They had been horribly expensive to construct, but once complete, they were able to withstand the elements, and anything else Onderon could throw at them.
The trains themselves were long, sometimes stretching for kilometers. Some cars were basic flatcars suited for stacked cargo, or larger items, others were covered cargo cars, or the most rare, armor-reinforced security cars, that held the most valuable items. One of the regular services was known among locals as the "Beskar Express". This train carried the imported iron from Mandalore that was used in building the maglev towers, and was heavily guarded to avoid any heists by pirates or other ne'er do wells. The "Beskar Express" had several cars modified to mount heavy weapons for defense against aerial attack, and other flat cars suitable for landing fightercraft, particularly Mandalorian Bes'uliik fighters, that could easily maneuver to land on a speeding train.
No one had ever tried robbing any of these trains.

Alright good guys team,
I vote Aerandir for team captain!
I'm happy to be part of whatever ideas you guys have. Being that the team has a strong Jedi flavour, i'd expect us to follow the Jedi path of avoiding unnecessary violence and destruction.
Think of me as the kid in the class that can't help taking things a few steps too far. The one with an overabundance of enthusiasm and exuberance.
