-Scout Pilot Unidentified Juvex ship, you are ordered to correct your flight path & enter a holding pattern at the forwarded location. You are on course for a restricted flight zone.
A data-packet with a 'safe' location in orbit was slipped along with the hail. At the same time the SCT scout ship pulled closer to the light freighter, now well within visual range as an oblong grey disk.

The reply for close air support was simple & direct. There wouldn't be any as long as any of the auto-turrets were still active. Other than that, the LAAT could be overhead in less than a minute, but it was limited to the light beam turrets in armament.
Sal had taken another shot in the intermediate time & had shifted position to mostly behind the remains of the gate frame. This limited her field of fire, but helped to cover for the fact that her armour appeared to be smouldering.
-Sal I've got a single stun grenade & am open to ideas. I had planned on using it on our target however.

Noticing that the newly appeared light freighter was making a hard burn more or less directly toward the MMC research station on the planet, the Scout ship decided to pull in closer for a better look. Swinging around close enough that their thruster glow would be visible, though not close enough to be directly visible, the Scout ship initiated a full sensor sweep of the incoming freighter.

It hadn't been difficult to subvert the targeting sensors of the droids as they had been sub-par quality to begin with. With the sheer number of shots fired, statistically they should be able to hit something important, unfortunately statistics had left for a lunch break. The wookiee, despite his size was proving incredibly difficult to hit as he dodged anything that came her direction, alternating return fire with his two blaster pistols. The Sullustan on the other hand was apparently wearing some kind of body armour under her clothes, as she had taken at least one shot without noticeable effects.
The droids on the other hand were doing much worse. Between the focused shots from the ion pistol, the over-powered cannon & the pistols hitting joints, nearly a dozen were already down. If the subverting module was able to do a head-count on the remaining droids, however, it would show nearly a hundred converging on the main gate.

Sal muttered for a little bit more, but then seem to decide on a plan of action.
-Sal Right, the 'keep knocking little chunks out of the target's limited supplies' plan is pretty much shot. Time to try the 'blow everything up & hope we don't die' plan. Buckethead, you are on point. As they are already on full alert, we will use point-beam comms to coordinate. Try not to get far enough ahead of us that the droids can cut you off. Ready? Good, because I'm about to knock on the door.
Sal swung the massive cannon around to point at the gate, tripping the locking systems that would hold it in place, then giving the door a double tap. The first shot hit like a hammer on a gong, leaving the gate somewhat twisted, but still attacted to the frame. The second shot, on the other hand, blew the massive door free & back a couple of paces, crushing several droids on the other side based on the twisted chunks of scrap left behind.

A SCT scout craft jumped into the system. It wasn't an unexpected visit, at least to those that bothered to request the info or were patient enough to watch for long enough. The scout exited hyperspace near the edge of the system & its path would carry it nearly into orbital range of Kessel, then on toward the system's sun & finally jumping back into hyperspace from a point nearly opposite of where it entered.
True, the 'navigation' beacon satellites used to guide the MMC cargo ships around kept a fairly close eye on things in the system. However, no system was perfect & it was safer to trick possible hostile forces into thinking the scout patrols were necessary than to choose between leaving an easy target or pay to increases the defenses on the small satellites.

The gate remained firmly shut, as the duo made their way across the blasted landscape toward the Gungan. Fortunately, both of the turrets on this side of the compound had already been reduced to scrap by the cannon wielding Sullustan. Once the duo reached the Gungan, the Wookiee aimed a very light slapped at the back of NCO's head.
-Sal What were you thinking? First you rush off without setting up a contact method or plan. Then you go & trigger every last alarm the place probably has.

The message was sent without out trouble, but there was a nearly immediate reaction from the compound itself. In addition to the nearly two dozen droids trying to pin down the agile Mando, dozens more began to pour out from several of the entrances to various domes. While all the droids were rather fragile, poorly armed models it was obvious that someone had spent a fair fortune on the collection. Within seconds nearly twenty droids had a line of sight to the Gungan & opened fire with their weak, but still fairly accurate blasters.
Outside the wall, the duo noticed the comm message thanks to a small device their kept for just that purpose. The Wookiee covered his face with one large furry hand up mumbled something inaudible.
-Sal Oh, KRIFF ... Do you think we should help? Or should we just let the fool drown in the pit he just dug?
The Wookiee rumbled something & then the duo set out to go help the Gungan out of the mess.

The turrets had not been designed for combat, regard of the amount of after-market armour haphazardly bolted onto their shells. Each went clattering to a halt as the ionic energy overloaded their circuits. A moment later the grenades went off as well, causing the two loading droids & the floating mortar slamming into the ground. As the droids toppled, loose mortar shells were sent spinning across the hard floor.
In the woods around the compound, the Wookiee & Sullustan were picking themselves off the ground & checking each other over for serious injuries.

Inside the small, recessed bunker was some sort of floating automated mortar flanked by a pair of loading droids each carrying a tray full of waiting shells. As the Gungan stepped into the open roofed room, a pair of small turrets whirred to life & began spitting out a cloud of blaster rounds. From the size & apparent strength of each bolt, it was fairly obvious that they had been originally designed to kill small rodents & other pests. Someone, however, had significantly increased the weapon's cycling rate, making them a much greater threat.

Another few moments pass before the duo in the wood reached the next spot & sal braced for another shot. A few seconds after that, another of the turrets transformed into a pile of half melted scrap. The duo had just started moving when the mortar revealed itself again to lob another shell. The shell exploded as the two figures dived for cover, fortunately they didn't suffer anything move than minor cuts & bruises from the close call.
Meanwhile, inside the walls, the droids were quickly converging on the highly mobile form of the intruder. Several began to swing around in a direction that would take them slightly farther away from the target, but should let them flank him in a few more moments.

Perched as he was, a large number of the droids in the compound had line of sight to the armoured Gungan. Turning almost in unison, blaster began to tear into the wall & air around their newly acquired target. The first few shots were going wide, but he would have to move quickly if he wanted to avoid the following shots. The duo out in the woods keeps making their way toward the next spot they planned to fire from.

Sal & Chrick watch in confusion for a moment as the insane Gungan goes charging down the hill.
-Sal Well, so much for the element of surprise.
Sal takes careful aim with her cannon, using her grav-belt to more or less lock herself into position. With a loud crack, a massive bolt of energy reaches out & obliterates one of the turrets on this side of the compound. Cutting off the grav-belt, the duo quickly begins circling the compound moving away from their previous location. A moment later, a loud WHUMP sounds from inside the compound, a glowing canister arced high above the heavily scarred section of ground below. A moment later, the location vacated moments ago by the duo turned into a firestorm as the canister exploded. Several trees were shredded instantly & the entire area burst into flame.

-Sal I'm Salistraissy, most just call me Sal.
The group crested one last hill, giving them line of sight down into the compound. It was a surprisingly large area. At least three building domes could be seen, though from the looks of the design, most of the structure was buried. a large area of the surrounding ground had been cleared & leveled, granting an impressive kill-zone. A square perimeter wall surrounded the internal courtyard. at each corner of the wall was a large automated turret. Within the wall, at least a dozen heavy combat droids were wandering around. Several small craters had been blow in the kill zone fairly recently.
-Sal Those blast marks mean either a mine field or a mortar emplacement. The turrets shouldn't be too much of a problem. I can probably hit them from here, but once I fire, they are going to know where we are & return fire. If they do have a mortar that could easily mean a quick & messy end to the mission. Any ideas, clan boy?

==In transit==
As the ship was nearing the drop zone, Aya received a rather odd message from her Buir. It would seem that Z'har had just stepped down & named her as the head of the MandalMine Collective. Aya wondered briefly what the Force had lead to that little bit of insanity. Regardless, she would hold true to Z'har ideals. The clan would come first in all things, & as most of the clan worked for MMC (& 90% of MMC employees were part of the D'Ordinii clan) it was not a complicated issue. As the LAAT swung low over the drop zone, Aya turned to the mercs.
-Aya Alright boys, Aya turns to the Sullustan & girl, this is the drop point. the target is the compound directly to the north. It is heavily defended, but it is mostly automated defenses. Intel shows that the only living being in the compound is the target. MMC would prefer the target alive, but don't put yourself or the mission at risk gunning for a live capture. If it becomes apparent that you will not be able to neutralize the target, your objective is to inflict as much damage on the compound as possible & withdraw. May the ancestors watch over you.
With that, the gunship dropped low enough for the mercs to hop out. Moments later it had withdrawn to a safe distance to wait for pickup.
==Merc assault team, just south of the compound==
The two other mercs did a quick finial check of their equipment & start off to the north. These two normally worked together, but this wasn't the first time they had worked as part of a larger group.
-Sal, the Sullustan Right, Chrick & me work together a good deal. Chrick generally handles the tricky shots, while I mostly hit anything that is big & slow. Before you ask, no we aren't part of the company, but the pay is good, so we tend to do a lot of jobs for them. What about you? Specialization? Freelance or Clan?

Waiting outside was a LAAT gunship. The design was over a century old at this point. However, the MMC tended to prefer designs from the Clone Wars or even earlier. This was because those designs tended to be very well tested & all their flaws were known. The fact that MMC produced its own modified & updated versions of the designs was not well known. Of course, the company also bought or salvaged every ship from that time they could, refitting & updating them in part to bolster their production numbers & in part to hide the fact that they produce the designs in the first place.
Already waiting inside the LAAT was a Wookiee with a pair of blaster pistols strapped to his hips, & a Sullustan armed with what looked like a cannon pulled from a small tank. Aya quickly steps on board the gunship, expecting NCO to follow.

-Aya A bit outside of town, I'll being giving you a lift. Target is a secure bunker complex. You will have two other independent contractors as support. Objective is seize or destroy the compound. Minimize damage to the surrounding area. Prisoners are preferred to casualties.

The rifle on the other hand had other ideas. The first two shots were on the low end of what the rifle was capable of, merely blowing pits in the large durasteel slab that a wookiee could put its fist into. The third shot however proceeded to reduce most of the ton-&-a-half slab into a quickly expanding glowing puddle, with a fair sized lumpy bit sticking up in the center. The rifle immediately kicked into a cool-down cycle after the third shot, emitting a soft chiming noise.
-Aya For operation considerations, you can switch between an alert tone, a flashing light, or 'stealth' mode which doesn't have an alert.

The pair shortly found themselves at one of the many research facilities located on the outskirts of the main city. After a few more minutes of making their way through the building, they entered a rather large room with heavy plates mounted on every wall. Sitting on a table near the door was a rather bulky rifle.
-Aya Right, they have worked out most of the bugs. Technically it is listed as a heavy carbine. But it has a power cycle better suited to an anti-vehicle or anti-emplacement rifle. The down side is that it tends to over heat at unfortunate times & the power cycles rather unevenly for the moment. Basically any time you pull the trigger you don't know if it is going to pump out a somewhat stronger than a blaster rifle, or enough to melt a landspeeder. For some reason the techs are having difficulty nailing down the cause.
The rifle should be firing in about the middle of that range & able to fire two or three times rapidly before a cool-down cycle. Currently might might overheat after anywhere from one to ten shots.

Aya lets loose with a rather evil smile.
-Aya We could always kill two birds with one stone. Let's see ... Hmmm, looks like Gold Standard loaned some money to a person. They failed to pay back on time. We know where they are, but so far all the collection agents we have sent have been shot at. The objective would be seize or destroy property of a certain value or greater (preferably seize). Interested?
