So, the new Grand Moff had come seeking his friendship. Apparently great minds did think alike. Though, Harnan already had much evidence to support this well known saying. There was much the pair could accomplish by working together. Not just against the Galactic Alliance, but Azria Delvardus, as the Chiss' thoughts revealed. A statement the man wished to keep between them it seemed. Harnan was certain such a thought was intentionally made apparent to him Few that have ever seen my face, have lived to tell the tale Grand Moff Vlusu... But fewer still have expressed interest in angering Azria... Harnan watched to see what Vlusu's reaction would be, to him speaking so plainly about what the Chiss had spoken of only in his thoughts Come, let us go inside. We can share a drink and see what gifts you have brought... Harnan moved to the side, gesturing for Vlusu to follow him, as the Riot Control Troopers formed two lines leading to the Turbolift. Harnan and Vlusu would go first, followed by the Riot Control Troopers, Vlusu's Guards, and the servants bearing the gifts they had brought. The turbolift would take them down several floors to a large bar area situated within the Keep, intended for visiting guests and casual use by the officers of the local garrison and any visiting Knights of Ren

Vlusu and Harnan sat down at the bar, and ordered what they liked. Vlusu was given a shimmering white wine from Csilla. He took up the glass and held it up. ”To friendship.”

Harnan took a seat next to Vlusu, then ordered a Corellian Whiskey. He then removed his helmet, setting it down upon the bar top just off to the side as the drinks were placed down as well. What ever the Chiss had been expecting to see beneath Harnan's helmet, it was unlikely what he saw. Harnan lifted his glass in response To new friends... Harnan took a swig of his drink, before setting it back upon the surface of the bar So... where to start... What reason do you have, for helping me torment Azria? I suppose the most obvious, would be the defeat that the Chiss suffered at the hands of her Stormtroopers. But you strike me as someone above that...

”Your senses serve you well, Lord Harnan. I indeed do not Harbor a grudge against her for that. Vlusu took a sip from the glass before setting it on the bar. ”The reason I help you torment Azria is because of her position as First Comissar. As a master of psychological manipulation, she is my competition. In addition, she weakens my strategies, what with the propaganda constantly in Csaplar. The most efficient method of solving this is by driving her up the wall.” With that, he gestured one of the servants over. The servant walked over and set his case on the table, before he began walking back to the ship. Upon opening the case, Harnan would discover a rather... revealing outfit, all the way from Csilla. With its nearly transperant aquamarine hue, it was bound to make an impression.

Harnan took another sip of his drink as Vlusu explained his position. It made sense the Chiss would feel the way he did in that context. He set his drink down once more, as the first case was placed on the table. Harnan opened the gift and examined the transparent aquamarine lingerie within. This would work just nicely, for his newest fun with her. And would make for a nice addition to the AAL collection. He lifted the item from its box and examined it Oh... This will certainly do the trick towards such a goal. It will also look nice painted upon one of the new AALs that have yet to be painted... I read that the Chiss were brilliant tacticians. You are already starting to live up to that reputation... Harnan replaced the item back within its case and moved it off the table. He took another drink It is rather amusing to know that stories of my AALs art has traveled so far... So, you seek to be the strongest power within the Chiss Oversector? You have quite the task ahead of you...

”I do wish to be the strongest power, in the name of the First Order of course.” Vlusu once again took a few sips from the wine glass, relishing the new taste of the shimmering wine. Setting the glass down, he turned to Harnan once again. ”Your reputation also precedes you. A reputation of efficiency. You certainly made short work of those short-sighted fools at Ossus.” He finished his glass, before asking for another from the bartender. After receiving it, he took a sip and set it down on the table. ”So why have you taken to the irritation of Ms. Delvardus.”

In the name of the First Order. That was certainly a party line if he ever heard one. Though, whether Vlusu truly believed and wished for that, was another matter entirely. Chiss were strange creatures, and the few he had encountered in the past had done nothing to help him understand them any better. Harnan took another sip of his whiskey I do what I must, to keep the peace, and deal with traitors... Ossus was just another step along that path... Harnan ordered another whiskey as Vlusu got a new glass of wine. He took a sip of his new drink, as the Chiss asked him what his interest was in irritating Azria. He looked at Vlusu for a moment, pausing a moment to consider the man. Perhaps it would not hurt to be honest with him. After all, the Chiss already had a reason to dislike her Well... That is a rather complicated story. But a simple summary would be that Nicademus screwed my girl, so I am screwing his sister...

Humans. He would never understand them, and their foolish quests. It was why the Chiss had developed such cloning technology; this way, love wasn’t a necessary part of survival. But now, he discovered even the Supreme Commander was vulnerable to such pathetic things as “love”. He would keep this in mind as he went forward. ”Facinating.” He took another gulp from his wine glass.

Harnan took a sip of his whiskey, watching the Chiss' reaction. A single word was all Vlusu said. He guessed that made sense that the Chiss Moff found such news fascinating. They were a strange people after all, much removed from most emotions A man of few words... Though, I guess there is not much you could say in response to that...

Vlusu took another sip, finishing off the glass. His hand quivered slightly as he picked up a glass of Corellian Brandy. He had never had this before, though he knew quite a few people who had a particular affection for it. Taking a tentative sip, he let the liquid slide down the back of his throat and warm his cold body. This was a sensation he had never felt. He had spent his life on an icy world, and never had this sort of thing before. ”You would be right about that.”

He watched as Vlusu switched from his usual wine, to a Corellian Brandy. It was like watching a Tarchalian Gazelle at a watering hole when a predator was nearby. Hand quivering, the Chiss took a tentative sip of the liquid, before seeming to check for some predator ready to pounce on him. Harnan took another sip of his whiskey then So, has your curiosity about me been abated yet? Probably not quite what you were expecting, I am sure... A great darkside warrior that razes Jedi Temples to the ground, who wants to be with the woman that Nicademus loves, but is secretly sleeping with Nicademus' sister... To say that was the most depressing and brutally honest summary of his life right now, was pretty accurate. He took another sip of his whiskey. All too aware of where everything had gone wrong and the mistakes he had made. If he had been more forth coming with Illaria about his feelings. If he had been more persistent with her. He could have gotten through to her. And then, he would never have lost her to Nicademus to begin with. Though, she would have had to have been his, for him to lose her.
And that was the hardest truth of all for Harnan to deal with. Illaria was never his. He was certainly hers. Perhaps not as a lover. But definitely as a Guardian, Confidant, and Handler. But he had never made any move to gain her affection like he should have. Or perhaps he had, and she had only pushed him away. Scared of what could have been with him. After all, she could see what was to come. Perhaps not in absolute clarity. But he was all too aware of her gift. And the Master had exploited it on many an occasion to further his own goals.
Perhaps he was still manipulating her skill. Bending what Illaria saw to his own will. Though he had his doubts. For even the Master had his limits. And that was something he was sure was beyond even the Master's skill to do. Not that it precluded the Master's ability to manipulate people and events in the present to affect the eventual future outcome. For while there was always set points within time. There were many paths to those moments, and they could be reached by any number of means without completely changing the outcome. The severity? Certainly, but they always happened.
Harnan's thoughts turned back to the present, focusing upon Vlusu once more as he held up his glass in the palm of his hand I certainly hope you were not expecting to meet your hero here today Grand Moff... Though, if you were, the wisdom that you should never meet your heroes would certainly have prevailed I imagine...

“In my trade, I have come to expect the unexpected...” He had learned this well from countless battles and opponents. From the droid fighters used by some to the ubiquitous X-Wing fighters, one came to expect anything when as experienced as he was. From the Killiks to battle droids, one could take any number of strategies, and more importantly, the insight that not everyone is what you expect. He was coming from a military standpoint, and he had visited here with the intention of not only gaining a new ally, but to get a gauge of him. No expectations to begin with.
Even so, he could still not grasp the cycle of love and hatred that seemed to be between himself, this Knight Illaria, the Supreme Commander, and that fool Azria. The cycle itself was relatively simple; the Supreme Commander had something that he wanted, and he was willing to use any means to gain it. It was a logical move. But, as with his compatriot Thrawn, he always strode to understand why. The driving force behind the cycle, the reason Harnan went to these lengths, were beyond his understanding. This frightened him. The Chiss prided themselves on understanding both their allies and opponents, and yet this one thing eluded him. He made it a goal to crack this shell, and hopefully further the efficiency of his strategies. This emotion, love. Perhaps it could be put to use furthering his own strategies.
Nonwithstanding, one did not need to be Force-Sensitive to see the pain on his face at the simple bringing up of the subject. And yet... he seemed to almost be reaching out to a different power. A higher power. Someone... elusive. Mysterious. Despite his slight intoxication, his mind was still analyzing. Perhaps at this very moment this power seeked to manipulate the galaxy further, similar to the way Darth Sidious did during the Clone Wars. All driving to a single point. The ultimate agenda. And whatever this goal was, Vlusu would make sure that he and his people were on the right side in this conflict, no matter what it took. “Although... you seem to be an efficient individual. One who sees the bigger picture. These are the sort of people I surround myself with. Not the most powerful, or the wealthiest, but the most analytical. Those who will see the battlefield as a whole.”

Expect the unexpected. A rather cliché statement, though one he should have expected from the Chiss. From his reading, Grand Admiral Thrawn had made quite the career out of expecting the unexpected of his opponents. And it seemed this Chiss hoped to follow in the Grand Admirals footsteps. But then, perhaps that was merely the Chiss way. Always analyzing, always preparing, always ready to meet what ever challenge that presented itself to them. It certainly sounded like a cold life. But then, they did live on a frozen world. So perhaps that was what had frozen their hearts.
Harnan almost had to laugh then, as Vlusu complimented his supposed ability. He was all too well aware of his own strengths and weaknesses. Seeing the bigger picture was not one of them. Perhaps where it related to a single battle, yes. But in all other matters, he would usually consult with Illaria. Even if she did not have the full picture, she had enough of it for him to fill in the blanks. He grinned as he took another sip of his whiskey and placed it upon the counter once more Efficient? Certainly. But my skills are limited to a single engagement... Illaria is the one you want for anything beyond that. Though, you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise... For all her skill and ability, Illaria still had a habit of acting rashly at times. Giving in to her more childish desires and acting without forethought. In most of these situations, it was down to him to get them out of it. But perhaps her seeming mistakes were just seen that way due to his inability to see them for what they really were. Perhaps he too underestimated Illaria.
Maybe even he did not truly and fully understand her as well as he thought he did. Maybe all her mishaps were merely carefully timed moves in a much bigger game. In which case, he was a much smaller piece in a far larger game than he could ever imagine. And that was something he did not want to consider. He took a moment to pause and sip some more of his whiskey before setting it down once more You certainly have a noble goal there, and you may make it far in the First Order with such a mindset... But let me be clear, if you hope I will help with such a goal, you will be disappointed...

"I would certainly hope so, Lord Ren." He had made a career out of analysis, observing the big picture. He would always look ten steps ahead, how his opponents actions might lead them to their downfall. From the spires of Mygeeto to the plant-ridden surface of Garqi, there were those who wished to strike down the First Order. And he would do everything in his power to keep them out of his oversector. At least while the First Order was the dominant power. He studied the art of war. Worked to perfect it. But the man sitting next to him; he was forged by it.
He took another sip of the drink, before setting it upon the table. Another servant walked toward them, carrying a large case. "You certainly seem to be a great warrior. With this in mind, I would like to present you with my next gift..." Opening the case revealed a large sword. It was certainly very ancient, though, seeing as it was forged from songsteel, still a potent weapon in the right hands. The guard and blade of the weapon were engraved with ancient patterns drawn from Cheunh.

Harnan took another sip of his whiskey as Vlusu complimented him once more, before another servant stepped forward with another gift. Harnan reached in and withdrew the blade from the case and sheath. Even just looking at it, he could tell it was a valuable weapon. The Chiss was going quite the distance to impress him. He rose from his chair then. Moving to give himself some space so he could freely swing the sword around a couple times.
Slicing the air and getting a proper feel for the weapon. He then held it up to examine the weapons engravings. Most impressive. Though, not exactly in line with his usual combat form. But the gift could certainly prove useful in future engagements. He took his seat once more, sheathing the weapon once more. He then moved the box over to where the first one sat An impressive blade... From a time long ago I assume? And made of songsteel if I am not mistaken?

“It is indeed an ancient weapon, and you guess of material is correct.” Vlusu turned his attention to a previous statement, more specifically a name. It was most interesting to see how this knight in particular fought. His specialty revolved around his strength. Akin to a broadsword. It was a shame he had not brought one of these weapons, but it was fine. “Who is this Illaria you speak of?”

A relic of a by gone era, much like his former self. Perhaps this blade too, could find renewed purpose in this modern age, just as he had. Harnan was about to take another sip of his whiskey, when the Chiss asked who Illaria was. He stopped mid motion and stared at the new Grand Moff. Trying to determine whether the Chiss had misspoke, or he truly was that uninformed. He took a sip, deciding to entertain the idea that this Chiss did not recognise the name of Nicademus’ soon to be wife You’re new around here... Illaria Ren, a fellow Knight of Ren, and the soon to be Empress of the First Order. Wife of Nicademus, and mother of his children... She’s a brilliant fighter and en equally brilliant strategist. I suggest you be careful, should you ever meet her...

“You mistake my intentions. I have heard Illaria’s many titles, but I am attempting to get a sense for what sort of person she is...” All of this was a part of Vlusu’s web. An inescapable trap. He tried to know everything, so that he could best build his web. One could say he was like a spider. Building his web until an opponent came around. The power of preparedness was often unrecognized, and he tried to know everything he could about potential allies and enemies, so that he could best decide how they would fit into his web.

Harnan stifled a laugh as he took another sip of his drink. He passed the empty drink to the server. With a new drink being placed in front of him almost immediately. He looked at the Chiss Moff then. Now having gotten some clarification on what exactly the man actually wanted to know. This was why he would never go into politics. Too many people saying one thing, and meaning another Now that is the question of the ages... what sort of person is Illaria? She is beyond definition. And it would take even a man like you many lifetimes to even get a glimpse of who she truly is. In fact, she would put the great Thrawn to shame, when it comes to tactics... I have seen her at work. You would do well to be cautious, should ever you meet her... Just when you think you have her figured out... That is when you will learn your folly... Harnan had learned that lesson many times over the past decade. Deralia was but the most recent mistake. And one he would not forget any time soon

Putting Thrawn to shame? This was someone he had to meet. As far as caution was concerned, he showed it whether the person or group of people was an insignificant nuisance or the largest threat the galaxy had ever faced. "In that case, she sounds like the sort of person I would like to meet. Such experienced tacticians are hard to come by nowadays."
