Tantin listened to Nala and nodded his head in agreement. Even if he did not want to make any tough decisions that could end up hurting anyone, or turned out to be the wrong ones, he would have to do so. He could not see the future, and his young mind could only guess at what was to come from his future. Still, Nala's assurance gave him courage, and he smiled.
"Thank you."
Tantin seemed to grow a bit nervous, his ears drooping slightly out of shyness.
"C-can we go see the garden? If you do not have any business to attend to..."

The Twi'Lek smiled warmly. "I thought you'd never ask," she replied with a gentle twitch of t'chunn as she got to her feet and picked up her empty tray. She waited for Tantin, and then headed over to the sliding window over the tray disposal ledge. She slid her tray into place and adjust the sleeves of her outer robe as the two of them headed out to the meditation gardens proper.

=Theomiir Starstrider= His first months as a Jedi Knight had passed reasonably quietly, but as he approached his 19th birthday, Theo knew that the peace and quiet Corellia and the Jedi had experienced would not last. He could not afford to become complacent. It would not be long before the Force would lead him to some new task, either here at home, or on some distant world. As he picked over the breakfast buffet in the Academy cafeteria, loading his plate with pastries and fruit, his mind was elsewhere, focused on his studies. He had discovered many texts on animal friendship among the Jedi archives, but he had not yet discovered an active, living Master that could aid him in his studies with some hands-on expertise. He hoped that he would be able to catch one of the Masters with some free time today, and seek guidance on the subject.

Stepping into the dining hall as I complete a holonet message informing Kel'al of Jaecyn's desire to speak with us of a more formalized alliance than that which exists currently, I make my way into the back of the kitchen after nodding greetings to a few learners and other academy residents. After sending the holonet message, nearly identical to that which I sent Ael moments earlier, I return my datapad to its pouch on my hip and then prepare myself a small pot of Naris-bud tea, taking the pot once it has been brewed and, grabbing a pair of mugs along the way, head back into the dining area to find an unoccupied table.
As Kel'al will be joining us via hologram, given that he is currently on Coruscant, I set up my imagecaster in the middle of the table before pouring a cup of tea for myself, settling comfortably in my chair to wait for Jaecyn and the others to join me.

Almost immediately, there was a soft two-toned ping from the holocom transceiver, and a green light flashed. Kel'Al had been quite pleased to find an excuse to escape from the politicians, if only for a moment, and join a conversation with old Jedi friends instead. The cause which had brought him to Coruscant was noble and charitable, but the mingling with galactic elites was still taxing and even a tiny bit creepy. When he had received Serrin's message, he had excused himself and slipped away to the private "green room" reserved for the night's speakers. Now, as soon as someone answered the call, he would appear in quarter-size holo in the center of the table. Faintly visible behind him was a mirror, a dressing table, a chair with a cloak slung over it, and any number of tubes and bottles of goodness knows what Coruscanti fashion product.
Catching sight of the petite Twi'lek master, the quarter-sized holo exclaimed in a full sized voice. Good evening, Serrin! I am sorry I had to depart so soon after your return. The occasion deserved a proper celebration. I hope you will accept a rain check. He smiled warmly, and just a bit crookedly. And Jae, what a pleasant surprise. I hope you are both well, and I am sorry not to be joining you in person.

Then I will leave it to your leadership to fill you in properly, absent my being able to. You know where to find me, otherwise. Jaecyn said to Kel'al, in his signature gravelly accent. He had just stepped into the mess hall, clad in less conspicuous clothing than a full set of body armor. A saber and shoto, a utility knife and a sidearm were all that accompanied the clothing, along with armor meant to withstand small arms up to the use of an E-11 and saber. It was all concealed, so most people would be none the wiser that he was still primed to fight, but then he wasn't necessarily in danger of needing it all beyond the usual hazards of day-to-day life, even considering his station in life. He took a seat adjacent to Serrin, with an actual, though not obvious, sense of relishing her presence. He looked over to her and spoke after the brief pause between his entrance and his sitting down. But, first, I must provide the balance of what he will be given. I trust there will be others to join us, yes?

Inclining my head in a bow after Kel'al's holographic image appears, I smile as I return his greeting, "Good evening, Kel'al. Waving a hand to indicate he has no need to apologize, I assure Kel'al, Rain check accepted."
Mildly relieved that Jaecyn joins us as Kel'al and I exchange greetings, preventing any possibility of lingering on the, for me, still somewhat laden subject of my return, I absently adjust the sleeves of my outer robe as Jaecyn addresses Kel'al, my right lekku coiling tightly around my bicep briefly before relaxing. Frowning in thought after Jaecyn asks whether there are others yet to join us, I consult my datapad quickly to see if any of the others I had contacted regarding the impromptu meeting have replied to my message. Setting the datapad aside, near enough that I will be able to observe whether any incoming messages are displayed, I tell Jaecyn, "I'm afraid it seems that the others may be indefinitely indisposed at present. Lifting a hand to invite him to begin now rather than wait further when waiting may not result in additional participants, I smile as I suggest to Jaecyn, Kel'al and I can inform the others of what we speak of here, however, so unless you prefer to wait a while longer, I see no reason we cannot begin now."

Somewhat disagreeable that the others might not be in attendance, though I suppose I am in not much of a position to complain. My arrival was unannounced. Jaecyn took a moment to mull over whether to wait or not. He chose to wait, though not for very long at all, as it would be a greater benefit to rehash his plans, and rest between flights. I think I might wait for others, it is better that more be present to hear my words and have council afterwards, and we do prefer dealing in person on matters of import. That being said, while my patience is vast, it is not infinite. I do not intend to mark time for long.

Nodding after Jaecyn states his preference to wait, for at least a short while, in the hope that doing so allows time for others to join the discussion he has come to share, I smile and assure him, "I quite understand, and hope that your patience is rewarded. As it is uncertain that anyone other than Kel'al and I will ultimately prove to be able to join the future discussion, I also assure him, And, even if it is not, I am quite sure that, together, Kel'al and I are able to act on the behalf of, and in the best interests of the academy." As Jaecyn is undoubtedly aware that Kel'al and I have been headmasters here at the academy for many years now, I can only hope that he will also, then, understand that we would speak with all due authority where such matters as those he has come to discuss are concerned.
Setting the matter aside for the time being, I smile and ask, "In the meantime, is there anything I might get you to eat or drink?"

Riddick, exhaling uneasily at the thought of imposing on Serrin, paused a minute, before looking back at her with weighed look. Though he was accustomed to working as a team, especially among his fellow Ysanna, like all his ilk however, he was just as accustomed to being self sufficient, circumstantial exceptions notwithstanding. The thought had crossed his mind to seek the kitchen and cook up a meal, for the two of them, himself. He had to remind himself, though, that the cook may very well take umbrage to having a stranger in his place, and have that placing Serrin in an embarrassing light having to explain it.I do not suppose your cook will do any particularly large cut of meat, do you? A steak or filet, perhaps? I have been running the first leg of this journey on rations, and I am in want of some real food.

Laughing after Jaecyn reveals that he has been deprived of real food, and therefore in want of some, I nod and stand as I assure him, "Oh, I'm quite confident our chef will be more than happy to accommodate your request. Bowing at the waist, I say, I'll be back shortly, and then look at Kel'al's holographic image as I say, Master Raganella will do his best to keep you entertained, I'm sure."
Making my way to the kitchen, I find our head chef, a rather talented Kitonak that, being a Kitonak, always smells pleasantly of vanilla no matter he happens to be cooking, and relay Jaecyn's request to him. After approving of the quite enthusiastic Qochata's menu for the proposed meal, I thank him, and then make my way back to the table where Jaecyn and Kel'al's holographic image are waiting. "Our head chef, Qochata, has a rather exciting menu for you, Jaecyn, I tell our guest with a smile, and will have it prepared shortly."

I shall make it easy for him. I will take my cut rare to the point of still bleeding. Once around the grill, huff and fall over.
Jaecyn spoke with a no-kidding demeanor on his face, and gestured the 'around the grill' part as he said it. He was unusually picky on the point of how he'd have his cut of meat, though he couldn't see it being a problem in this case. As long as it was slightly warm on the outside, and raw on the inside, he would be a happy camper, and he'd better be able to keep a good conversation going, absent a growling stomach to pay any mind. He took a swig from a flagon, containing some kind of concoction that came with his craft's survival rations. Surprisingly, it was pretty good compared to most of the rest of the kits, themselves being edible enough to garner a distinguished list of monikers, mostly humorous, and just as accurate. It did manage to quiet his stomach just enough not to be heard from the other side of the room, and this seemed to be a decent sized room.

"Ah, I say arching the thin ridge of muscle over my right eye as it dawns on me that it might have been wise to have determined Jaecyn's preference where the way the meat would be cooked was concerned prior to placing the order, and then lift a finger as I smile sheepishly and say, I had best relay that Qochata," and then bow before making my way back to the kitchen.
As Master Roma communicates Jaecyn's wishes to the Kitonak head chef, the Twi'lek's earlier messages to other members of the Corellian Jedi academy's administrative body bear fruit: a trio of Jedi Masters - a seventy-four year old female Sullustan, Master Teb; a forty-five year old native Corellian female, Master Saturnia; and a fifty-three year old Bothan female, Master Fervse'dra - enter the academy's dining hall and, spotting the holographic image of Master Raganella shortly thereafter, make their way to where the visiting Jedi sits. By the time Master Roma makes her return, bearing the meal - a lovely nerf steak prepared precisely according to instruction with a side of vegetables - Jaecyn had requested, the trio of Masters have each introduced themselves, and once all have been seated after Master Roma's return, they politely wait for their guest to choose the moment to move from casual chat to the purpose of his visit . . .

Riddick acknowledges the other masters in turn, before turning back to Serrin. You bring nothing for yourself? Rather awkward, that I should be the only one to enjoy a meal, absent anyone else partaking as well. Traditionally, as food was once a relative scarcity on Ossus only a few centuries before, when one had a meal among kin, everyone else was around also eating. It was seen as extremely inconsiderate for only one person in a group to eat a substantial portion, as to imply that that person was hoarding at the expense of others. That view still persisted, even after the terraforming of Ossus into a once-again verdant world where all the basic necessities were not only accounted for, but in high abundance. As such, Jae felt reticent to dive into his meal, in spite of being on this side of hungry, and in want of something tasting other than that of cardboard.I suppose, however, we could begin with the reason I have come to Corellia, other than to be reminded that I still owe your librarian a copy of our repository, as promised. Jaecyn looks over to Master Fervse'dra as he mentions the library, remembering clearly a look of stunned surprise when he made the offer on an earlier visit.

Wincing when Jaecyn points out that eating alone will be uncomfortable, something I should have considered before he had the need to mention it, I hit myself in the forehead with the heel of my hand, apologizing, "I hope that you can forgive my abominable lack of foresight and manners, Jaecyn. If you will . . ."
Interrupting Master Roma, Master Fervse'dra, a tall, Bothan female with grey and chestnut-hued fur, and a youthful vigor that belies her true age, stands and pats the Twi'lek on the shoulder as she says, "Ach, no one can think of everrrrrything, can they, poppet? You just sit and enterrrrtain ourrrr guest while I look afterrrrr the food," and then makes her way to the kitchen to collect something quick and easy for the resident Jedi to eat in order to ensure that their guest's meal has no chance to cool down.
"I had not, Master Saturnia, the academy's brown haired archivist, says with a playful, good-natured, gently teasing tone, forgotten about that copy of your respository, Jaecyn. Nor, she chuckles, does it seem that you'll need reminding given that you've mentioned before I even had a chance to find a polite way to mention it."
"Herrrre we arrrre then, Master Fervse'dra says, returning with a tray of mixed fruit slices, cheeses, and other odds and ends for the resident Jedi to imbibe. Setting the tray in the middle of the table, the Bothan takes her seat, and after everyone has begun to eat, smiles at their guest as she says to Jaecyn, Any time you'rrrre rrrready, poppet, then wiggles her bushy ears as she concludes in a patient tone, we'rrrrrre all earrrrs."

Hmmmm... Jaecyn hums with a humorous note. Relax, Serrin. You have not visited my world, at least in any way proper. There was no way you would have known that eating alone was considered bad form among us. Jaecyn took a sip from his drink, before starting.
As for me being here. I am trying to band together an alliance of sorts, centered more on the Outer Rim territories. With the Republic still based on or around Coruscant, calling on them to aid beyond their sustainable borders is... hit or miss. Some among us have had to massively overhaul our military forces, among other things. Others have had to specialize in certain fields with the hope of being too critical but to be immune. This, as even you would be aware, is no easy task. We have had our share of nigh-disastrous dealings over the years; the ransacking of Ossus, the Mandalorian Holy War, countless sith incursions. All while in the process of forming, reforming, and otherwise managing our own distinct modus operandi. While you are a core system world, and very much aligned with the Republic, I am asking for your support as one of the premier shipyard worlds, and that you all have rendered immeasurable aid when my world and I needed it. Jaecyn paused, taking another swig of his drink. Plus, I would think that it would go a ways in showing that we have no intent to be threatening to the Republic.

Wobbling my head from side to side non-committally when Jaecyn suggests I had no way to know of the customs of his world well enough to know it was considered bad form to eat alone, and though I feel I was remiss all the same given that it is probably uncomfortable for anyone of any culture to be the only one in a group to be eating, I say, "Thank you, and then smile as I say, At least I will now know, and not repeat the same mistake, and perhaps we can rectify that lack of a proper visit in the future as well so that I'll minimize the danger of committing other offenses due to ignorance of the customs."
Nibbling on some fruit slices as Jaecyn explains his proposal more in depth, I listen attentively as he speaks, and nod when he has finished. After taking a moment to carefully consider my reply, rather than simply jumping to fill the silence that follows the conclusion of the proposal, I begin by lifting a hand, palm upwards, to indicate the academy as I say, "You can, I should hope it goes without saying, rely on the unreserved support of our academy if ever you or your people find themselves in need. We cannot, of course, speak for Corellia as a whole. As you may or may not know, we ourselves neither maintain nor command any forces other than ourselves. The defense of Corellia is maintained by the Corellian Defense Force, and by CorSec, and while we have assisted them many times, and have relationships with both organizations, we cannot speak on their behalf in an alliance such as the one you propose. As you said, Corellia is a Republic world, and as such your request for an alliance with Corellia and her forces would need to be addressed to their leaders."
Lifting a furry index finger, Master Fervse'dra says, "Which we would, of courrrrse be more than willing to help arrrrange. Senatorrrrr Korrronov would be an ideal firrrrst point of contact, if you would like to make yourrrr prrrroposal to Corrrrrelia's leaderrrs dirrrectly."

I did not expect that you would be speaking for Corellia proper. Jae says, taking a swig of his drink right on the tail of the last word. I will want to speak to Koronov. Frankly, I had hoped to get both Jedi and civil leadership in at the same time. Then again, my appearance here was unannounced, so perhaps it was a bit much to expect. On the other hand, knowing that I have the support of Corellia's Jedi is certainly a step in the right direction.

"Actually, I say while after Jaecyn has finished speaking, arching the thin ridge of muscle over my left eye as an idea occurs to me, you may just be in luck. Remembering that Senator Koronov is at the same event on Coruscant as Kel'al, I address Kel'al's holographic image, asking him, Master Raganella, I do not suppose that it would be possible for you to see if Senator Koronov would be open to meeting with Jaecyn at some point to discuss his proposal? Returning my attention to Jaecyn, I ask, Would you prefer to meet with the Senator in person when he has returned to Corellia, or, assuming he is open to the idea as well, to speak with him sooner via an image-caster conference?"

As Jaecyn spoke, a crooked smile had begun to spread across Kel'Al's face, and his eyes twinkled as if something had amused him. The timing of the Force was impeccable. Here he was, preparing to give his speech on the Ryloth crisis, and here Jaecyn was, practically confirming Kel'Al's own conclusions about the state of the Outer Rim.
That shouldn't be too hard, Master Roma. He laughed, then eyed Jaecyn, smirking. You could not have picked a more appropriate time to mention this problem, or make your proposal. I am right this minute attending a charity event for the victims of the Ryloth crisis, and I have been asked to give a speech. He motioned behind him. That is why I am calling you from a dressing room on Coruscant.
I do not know what the audience is expecting me to say, and the organizers left the choice of topic up to me. But I plan to give them an assessment that the Republic's vision is too small, and must be more fully focused on the protection of the galaxy, and not just one's comfort zones in the Core.
He paused, catching himself as he remembered the question. But I am sure our boring political adventures and long-winded speeches will be all over the HoloNet News. To answer the question, yes, that should be very possible. Senator Koronov is somewhere out in the banquet hall, and I will send him a comm when I get a chance. I should warn you though, he is very busy. I am not sure when he will be able to come home to Corellia. The Senator was very busy trying to thwart the recklessness of politicians like Crom'nen and Khar, and worrying about the upcoming election for Supreme Chancellor.
