"It's in good hands at the moment," Eralam replied with a sly grin.
"You know how it goes. You get to waiting too long for a post and you get bored, and when we get bored, weird shit happens. Figured stopping by here was a better solution than the other alternatives."

Dazbog stroked his beard, leaving a trail of granola crumbs on it. He walked from behind the counter, crossing his arms across his bare chest. He nodded his head in the direction of the Jedi frozen at the bar counter.
"Keep the meta talk away from the children. Don't want them getting ideas."
Dazbog narrowed his eyes and smirked.
"So you came out of boredom? I'm touched that your estranged little brother means so much to you, Eralam. Makes me know that you really care. Hits me where I live."
Dazbog pulled a chair over to him and sat down.
"Had a friend of yours visit me. Gave her some of my special blend. She even made a pie. Never thought she'd be spooked by a Jedi though. What's up with that?"

Eralam sat down, leaned back, and propped his feet up. On what exactly it was he was propping his feet was unclear, but it didn't matter much in this place.
"You know how it goes. Everyone is walking on eggshells to keep from breaking out into open warfare. They like their war served cold these days. All the fun without people screaming because their planets are under attack. You follow?"
The Shard produced a pipe from nowhere and lit it with a spark from a metal finger. The air was quickly filled with a scent similar to vanilla, but with a strong cinnamon note to it as well.
"Must be awfully interesting for you folks to watch."

Dazbog pulled out the bag of blueberry granola from his beard and, ignoring the fact that Eralam was in his robotic body currently, held out the open bag for the former Whill to try. He shook the bag to tempt him more.
"Some of us aren't just watching anymore. Nothing crazy. Just popping in to see how things are going. Corellia is nice this time of year. So is Tatooine."
Dazbog raised an eyebrow at the pipe, his eyes following the trails of smoke snaking off and dispersing in the air.
"I assume you have heard of the Old Sith's demise? He finally ascended. Saw to it myself."

"I hadn't heard, no," Eralam said. "I only met the old bastard briefly. He was part of a group of independents that I tried to rally up into sort of a mutual defense pact. Shame that never got off the ground."
The fallen Whill nodded in thanks as his brother offered the bag of granola to him and extracted a handful. The crunch of chewed grains and nuts was audible, but the mechanism for his mastication wasn't obvious.
"I've noticed you and Erevis have been acting outside the given parameters. Your coffee shop is ostensibly more benign than his, shall we say, more controversial endeavors, but I find it galling to find you acting openly. While I applaud the principal, I was banished for an offense far less dire than offering that crazy bitch Diva power. Even collared, declawed and made mortal, she's too dangerous to do anything more than give her a target and a number goal. Give her a reason to start thinking and we're all fucked."

Dazbog smiled and shrugged.
"Few people manage to leave their own home planet much anymore... Many are content staying where they are, instead of exploring the Universe."
Dazbog stood up and walked back over to the counter, making himself a cup of coffee.
"I will say that Erevis's attempt to make Diva a disciple was.....risky...It was interesting. I knew the moment he gave her the choice between killing freely and praying to kill, she would decline. I think maybe he did too."
Dazbog looked up at the ceiling contemplating that thought for a moment as he poured the coffee from the pot into his favorite cup. It was a green cup with a chibi representation of himself on it. He took a sip before speaking again.
"My Coffee shop is a place of rest. The most interesting thing I serve is my new brand of coffee, Memory Lane. You won't find me trading for souls or stipulations in a spoken contract....but its nice to get out. Not to interfere, but to keep a slightly closer eye on people. I may be the youngest, but I'm not naive or stupid enough to go around flaunting my abilities openly. There would be riots, wars....and many more coffee shops in my honor."
Dazbog smiled and took another sip of coffee.
"Still, I see your point."

"I don't know what he knew or what he was thinking. Gonna dig himself into an early grave if he keeps it up."
Eralam sighed and puffed on his pipe, contemplating the myriad futures that would spring from such an event.
"I've heard tales of your special blend. You'll have to pardon me for passing; there are things best left in the past. Still, I can't help but think you've got something in mind, some grand scheme. Reminding people of things, letting them see clearly the past, that's some pretty subtle fuckery, friend. Seems harmless enough on the surface, but you don't become a Whill without learning to play the long game."

Dazbog paused, trying to think of a good explanation of his concoction.
"Sometimes its good to remind people how far they've come since...whenever the memory they took with their latest sip took place. Makes them strive to be better. Some might get stuck in the past...revert to what they were."
Dazbog sighed and shrugged, taking another gulp of coffee and popping a handful of granola into his mouth. How he managed to get granola without reaching into a bag or bowl was one of those things that could only be explained by the fact he was a Whill.
"We all play the long game. Some just don't know it. The few of us that do, we like to play a little differently. Ad a few more variables. Make things a bit more interesting."

Eralam cocked an eyebrow quizzically. Don't ask how, just go with it.
"Stuck in the past, eh? That's pretty devious, if done correctly. I imagine there are a fair few folks around here who might find a way to take advantage of that."
He made a note to keep am eye out for sudden reversals of character development.
"Still, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that the folks who could do something with that type of story know better than to try. It's the ones that can't but still want to do it anyway that you have to watch out for."

Dazbog nodded in agreement.
"Some people just want to watch the Universe burn."
Dazbog was silent for a moment, trying to find a different topic, as the current one was slowly but surely sputtering out.
"So tell me, what's it like living among the mortals? As interesting as I think, or horribly boring?"

"Dude."
The look on Eralam's face was not far off from one found on a recently converted religious fanatic's.
"As a robot, there was fun. See a lot of cool shit, meet a lot of cool people, blow it up and move on. As a human..."
A series of images and sensations flashed through the fallen Whill's mind. The taste of really good whiskey. The smell of steak cooking over a wood fire. The sound of his lover calling his name, the feel of her teeth biting into his shoulder as they reached the end, accompanied by sights better left to the imagination.
"You forget what it's like to be alive, I mean, really, really alive as a Whill. Most of you guys were human, or close enough to count, but that all loses perspective in the face of eternity. When you know you've got sixty, maybe eighty years total left in this realm, and you can only really enjoy a lot of things for the next forty, it adds a sense of urgency. It sharpens things up, puts them in perspective. The Journal is unforgivably bland in comparison."

Dazbog nodded once again, He could understand the feelings. While he had never been human, per say, he had lived amongst mortals in his youth, as a hero among his people. Eventually he left, and flew into the sun, to live in its core. He missed the good old days sometimes.
"While we are immortal, and we have little perspective in the affairs of mortals, you know that we still have agents out there. Unaware that we are pulling the strings behind their actions, living their lives...mortal."
Dazbog stood up, walking over to the wall of labelled drawers, some going back to people no longer alive, or in this Universe.
"The Eternity is the reason I've been reaching out. Not just for the benefit of the Journal, but to connect to them. We weren't always immortal, some of us anyway. Maybe I'm just grasping at straws falling through my fingers. This Coffee shop is a good example. Interaction. Relaxation. Smiles. It's good to know that us being is here a good thing, that we serve a purpose, that we are doing everything right."
Dazbog touched the handle to a drawer, splotchy with stains on the finely crafted and sanded wood. Coffee stains; his own drawer. The nameplate read "Dažbog- For the Final Day." He withdrew his hand, and shook his head, moving on mentally to a different topic.
"How much longer do you have left? If it isn't too invasive to ask."

Eralam shrugged.
"Your guess is as good as mine. I've managed to beat the timer. Maybe I'll live another sixty years, or maybe I'll piss off Sin tomorrow. The mystery is intoxicating."
It definitely added a certain flavor to things. And hell, it had done wonders for his relationship with the Emperor. It had done wonders for a great many things, to be honest.
"It's also weird to have something to fight for on the small scale. I shoot at people because they threaten my lover or myself these days, rather than because there's some interplanetary scheme that demands they die."

Dazbog worked his way back to the bar stool and sat back down, taking another gulp from his chibi Dazbog coffee mug.
"It's a shame I never got to see you in your prime...as one of us I mean. I would have destroyed entire systems to have that chance. Now I only get to stalk you from the shadows in your mortal form, reading it in the Archives, or literally from the shadows. Never been in the bedroom though. There are some parts of you I'd rather not see. Also I'd rather not be sued."
Dazbog smiled joking. He visibly paused for a moment, contemplating something.
"Why Sin? Dressel not interesting enough now? You're in with the Empire. Is it the power? You had it and you lost it...Or is she just that good? I can't judge you either way, but I'm curious. We're allowed to be curious, right? Or is that just me acting...like a mortal?"
Dazbog ran his hands through his beard, thinking on his own thoughts.

"This is about as close to seeing me in my prime as you can get these days. I can create a facsimile of my old self here in the temple, but without even chambers to serve as a seat of power, it's but a shadow. Still, you're not missing much. I always preferred guns and blades to overt displays of power. Kill the right man at the right time and you can watch the fate of the universe tip. Same with ideas, if you know how to use them. Mind, I'm past all that now."
Eralam sighed and tapped his pipe against an invisible ashtray before repacking and relighting it.
"I'm not a part of the Empire. My loyalty is to the woman, not the organization she runs. She's not perfect, and she's not always easy to get along with. But, she is amazing. I'm head over heels, little brother. If you ever get the chance to give this sort of thing a shot, I highly recommend it. Believe me, you'll get a perspective on the Journal that you never had before. A lot of history suddenly starts to make sense."

Dazbog thought on Eralam's words carefully. Would he ever decide to be mortal, retire from the life and live amongst the people he has watched over for all this time? It was something to keep in mind.
"I was never mortal, but if you read up on my history, you can assume heroes often get plenty of women. Of course this was before I knew about this place, so I guess I have lost the perspective from my past self. The Sun God has died, replaced by a Coffee God. If I followed the moniker completely I'd be Russian. I figured that would be harder to pull off."
Dazbog dipped a blueberry muffin into his coffee mug and took a bite of the now coffee drenched muffin, his eyes lighting up at the taste, and a smile forming as he chewing. After swallowing he continued.
"By history I am guessing you mean the romance side. How a man or woman can follow another man or woman blindly through love? It can change the Universe. Destroy worlds, create or destroy fleets, and kill or raise armies. Love has had a great impact on history. It is no mystery to me. While I've never felt love, I've seen and understand what it can do to people. Sometimes its beautiful, sometimes its horrible. But its still love, and some fools would rather die pining for their crush than alone in a gutter."

"If they pine for a crush, they are probably alone in a gutter. I think you meant to say that some will suffer a failing relationship rather than be alone. In either case, fools." The ancient and wrinkled Rakata appeared at the front door seemingly out of thin air, although in truth her essence had been swirling through the galaxy for some time now. Pulled to Tython by the manifestations of cosmic power, she found the way to remake an approximation of the form she once held so long ago. She looked at the two men before her, observant of the way that time and power both flowed through them, around them and obeyed their wishes. It was the same thing that graced her with the body she now admired, her small hand in front of her noseless face. She let it fall back to her side, speaking calmly to the pair. "I hope I am not intruding."

Dazbog was mid sip when Niah appeared in his Coffee Shop. A Rakata. How risque. He set down his cup in the air, letting it hover next to him, and gestured to the bar.
"Not at all. Just two fellows having a chat. More than welcome to allow a lady to join in. Welcome to my business. Can I get you anything? Muffin? Granola? Coffee? Wasted Cake?"
While the appearance of a Rakata might have been unsettling for anyone else, Dazbog was not anyone else. It was interesting, but not surprising. Some parts of him were glad at least one of them was still around. He hated it when entire species went extinct.
"I also have pie."

Eralam waved in greeting to the newcomer.
"Something tells me the one I found isn't the type to let me get off with merely pining, should this go south. Still, a fight for one's life can be a good thing. Hard to mope when dodging lightsaber blades."
A chair materialized for the other ancient mystic.
"So, what brings you to our neck of the woods?

She moved slowly, almost deliberate in her actions as she crossed the floor and sat stiffly down in a chair that seemed to coalesce beneath her. There could have been a smile on her lipless mouth, it was hard to read emotional cues from her face as it was unlike most of the other sentient life in the galaxy. She watched a cup of coffee materialize before her and with careful hands, she raised to her mouth and drank a sip. "Interesting." None of the food seemed worth a try, at least not to her palate and she let the offers for sustenance fall quietly into the realms of forgotten and unanswered as she turned to the robot next to her. "The want of freedom. I have been lonely and bound for so long now that I scarcely recognize the pieces of this galaxy any more. Our slaves are the dominant ones now and our enemies are no more. It is...hard to take." She turned toward the bearded one, her two fingered hands stacked neatly in her lap. "You seem surprised by my presence. Are there no others left?"
