A few hours pasted by and a hard rain had started. Pouring down on the compound. There was relief to it. Like washing dirt from a soiled face, it felt refreshing. As the Renegade Element left the building and piled into a large transportation cruiser, there was a stillness among them. In the back of their minds they thought about their last visit to Tatooine. As long as a repeat didn't occur it didn't matter what happened, it would of been better than that fateful day.
After a few minutes of flight, the cruiser landed in a private hanger where a transportation shuttle was finished being loaded up with various amounts of gear. The team walked up the ramp and into the shuttle. Odi was the last to enter the shuttle and take his seat. His mind was focused, past experiences would not trip him up or falter. He slowly closed his eyes as the transport lifted off and took into the atmosphere, the pilot already plotting the correct hyperspace coordinates to Tatooine.

Holocron Days
It was dark. The glowpanels that studded the walls hadn't been changed in millennia. The sun had not been able to reach this far into the mesh of buildings for even longer yet. Few came this far into the city. Even the gang & tribes that wandered the corridors above feared to probe too deeply into the darkness below their feet. Strange things lurked here, half heard, half felt. A glimmer of red turned the corner a short distance away. In any other place, the glowing lens would have been unseen, but in the darkness here they stood out brightly. Five weeks ago, the woman had been on the edge of starving to death. While she was obviously still recovering from that, she was in much better shape now. To Mary, the world was spread out before her as a collection of wires & semi-translucent planes hanging in space. She had little difficulty in seeing in the eternal darkness that shrouded this place. Getting around on the other hand was a different story. She glared at the sudden gap in the walkway before her. It looked like something had sheered off a huge chunk of the building, at least five levels above & below her at this point were simply missing, along with a fair amount of the wall of the building itself.
She could try to circle around, but by then the animal that she was stalking might have slipped out of her grip. Hearing a chunk of stone shift on the other side of the gap Mary made up her mind. Getting a running start, Mary launched herself over the edge of the drop. For a moment, she seemed to hang in the air as her momentum peaked. Reaching into the part of herself that she had taken to calling 'the well', Mary focused on the goal she wanted. It was not smooth. It was not graceful. If there had been an observer to describe the event, the words 'falling sideways' would most likely have been used. Mary hit the opposite ledge & rolled to a stop, a small but brutal looking knife in hand. Her sudden arrival had surprised her prey. It looked vaguely like a rat, if a rat could grow to a little over three metres long. The 'fight' was over quickly, as the knife flung itself from Mary's hand & slit the beast's throat. After taking a moment to recover the knife, Mary dragged the beast into a sheltered nook in the broken wall. She quickly began to hack chunks off the creature. Mary knew that the smell of blood would attract other, more dangerous creatures. She would have limited time to gather as much as she could carry before then.
Feel like sharing some of your rat?
Mary instantly had the Gar's Tooth in her hand, barrel pointing firmly at the man that had stepped out from his hiding place behind a large chunk of metal imbedded in the walkway. He was a rather large man, most notable in the face that he was completely without a shirt. Hanging from the man's waist were a pair of massive vibroswords. Other than the man's pants he was only wearing what appeared to be some kind of high-tech belt/boots/harness combination. What exactly it did wasn't readily apparent for just looking at it.
-Big You know, it is kind of rude to point weapons at people, Mary.
Somehow, he knew her name. To Mary that meant he was probably not someone that would be helping her out.
-Big You are rather quiet today. You are also rather hard to find. It would seem that the simplest thing would be to ask you to hand over the crystal.
-DeGuy Don't. You can't let them take me.
-Mary He doesn't want to go with you.
-Big Oh? you managed to wake him up? I'm impressed. It would seem that we are somewhat alike.
At this, the big man reached into the pouch hanging from the back of his belt. Slowly, he pulled something out & showed it off to Mary. It was a crystal pyramid of red & black.
-Big Titana says hello.
-DeGuy Titana? I think I know that name ...
-Mary DeGuy indicates likewise. That changes nothing though, you can't have him.
-Big Very well, we will settle this the old fashioned way. By killing each other.
That said the big man slipped the crystal back into his pouch.
pulling the two vibroswords free, the man thumbed them on. As the dull hum of the two blades filled the air, the bloody beast lay mostly forgotten. For a moment the pair faced off against each other. Mary made the first move by launching the corpse of the beast at the large man's center of mass. However, the man responded quickly with a crossing set of diagonal slices & a small shove with the force at the center of the beast, framing his body for a moment in the four bloody chunks of the beast. Using the fact that his movement was restricted for a moment, Mary began firing Gar's Tooth. With a quick, circular spin of one of his blades the man caught the first three shots before being able to dodge to one side avoiding the rest. The space was suddenly much brighter as the the blocking blade now glowed red halfway down its length. The last few inches of the blade had melted completely off & the vibrations had scattered little drops of molten metal across a fairly large area. There was a slight tearing sound as the man twitched to one side, dodging the short knife that Mary had thrown as discreetly as possible. The red crystal came slowly tumbling out of the now split pouch. The half melted vibrosword clattered to the ground as the big man caught the crystal & the hum dropped in volume by half.
-Big Nice shot. But you still will not beat me.
-Mary That is true, but you forgot something.
-Big What is that?
-Mary You are covered in blood.
There is a brief look of confusion on the man's face before horror quickly dawns on him. There is a *SNAP* sound & a rush of wind as most of the man vanishes into the depths of the planet. Only the lower part of a twitching arm was left, having been pulled forward enough by the Force that it had been barely spared. Taking a moment to collect the crystal & the half melted vibrosword, Mary smiled & set about finding something new for dinner.

"I guess now you know Why I have been on Kamino twenty years ago. I hope we can get along without fighting this time for it has been far too long that the two of us simply sat down and talked about the universe, philosophy and stuff like that. Far too many years I might add and while the years have been kind to you I had to rely on a little bit of cheating as you can see." Yolem was torn by his own emotions. He saw his old padawan, the one he had seen as his best, the one who had presumably fallen. He still seemed to be concerned of the fate of this universe but also he had obviously been in to deep. The shape he was presenting himself in was far from what he should look by now. Young, far too young, the former Jedi Shadow had used a power forbidden to the Jedi. Even if it was but a braindead clone of himself. Righteousness and tolerance warred within his mind. The ancient Jedi master grunted and shook his head to free his mind before he looked up replying to the younger being in front of him: "See that I can. Sure if like it I do I am not. A dark path chosen you have, old friend, and while the light I can sense in your motives, your way lost in the fog it is. Fight you I will not another battle there is that you have going on and weakening you wrong it would be. My attention you have. Coming to Coruscant bold it is. Very bold even for you. What in the universe important enough for you it could be to possibly throw away your life?"

He shrugged his shoulders and turned around presenting his back to the old master. Knowing that he was safe he decided that playing it easy was the better approach and showing a bit of trust could break the ice. Deep down he felt the sting of disappointment. So many years they had been friends but now Yolem seemed to be rather cold towards him. Not that he really thought that he had deserved more than that but still. He moved forward and looked down at the streets.
"I have come here because of my daughter. She was in danger, I took care of it and now I want her to have a normal life. One that doesn't involve keeping her head low and pretending to be someone else. That means I want her to be safe from the Jedi Shadows as well. Well that was the plan to start with but there is something else going on as well. You know there is a young Jedi and she is in big trouble. Oh, you won't believe the trouble she's in and she doesn't even know who she really is. That's my guess at least. Last time I saw her she believed herself to be a slave which is only partially true I fear. I'm not sure about that point yet. Working on it. That leads me to something else: Gooddé da lodia!"
With the Huttese greeting meaning nothing than 'good day to you' he turned around facing the old master while falling backwards. The smile on his lips was only interrupted when he added a quick shout as goodbye: "Don't tail me!" He kept falling and reached out for a beam using it to redirect his own momentum and land on a roof. Then the former Jedi vanished in the shadows.

Terra had made her way to the underworld, stopping a little ways from where Anshara had said the alchemy lab was located. Nik would probably be here soon, as well as Anshara, and once they made their rendezvous, they could start making their way to the lab. She kept one hand on her lightsaber, already feeling uneasy about being down here. Her last visit to the underworld had been brief so she hadn't noticed as much, but now that she had a moment to stop and think, she could really feel a dark presence down here. It was no doubt coming from the alchemy lab nearby, and it was eerily similar to what she had experienced in her nightmare.
Still, she wasn't about to lose her nerve now. There was too much at stake, and she wasn't going to be doing this alone...

Anshara looked at the woman at the end of the street. She had been focusing on concealing her aura on the way here and now she halted. Looking at Terra she realized that her friendship could cost the young Jedi a lot. Chewing on her lower lip she pondered if she should simply leave. Being unreliable by that and not worthy the attention but she also sensed the darkness from the laboratory. Something was leaking and leaving now would be more than just irresponsible. She lowered her head knowing that she liked Terra. The Jedi had been friendly to her and seemed to be closer to her own situation than anyone she had met before. Which was also the reason why she didn't want to endanger her.
The inner fight continued but finally she moved over to Terra, dropping the concealment about ten metres away from her. In a compromise she allowed her true aura to shine through. A core of lightside shrouded in the darkness of those who did what had to be done. Black veins on a silver body.
You want to befriend her, you feel lonely and now you're clinging to the hope that someone could like you. You are dangerous and your lifestyle will endanger her. Maybe even estrange her from the Jedi. Show her your true self and maybe she will keep a distance and be safe. She asked her inner voice if it was that bad to want to make a friend. Maybe, maybe not. You were not born for a life like this. Your father is a rogue Jedi Shadow, your uncle wanted for mass murder on slavers and the monster is close beneath your own surface. Is that the life you want for a friend? She pondered what would happen if Terra wasn't repelled that easily. Then it's her decision. She has to choose for herself but it's your duty to make sure she knows what she's up to. We protect the weak against the darkness but first we have to protect others from ourselves.
She flashed a smile and raised her hand in a greeting. Only her eyes showed a hint of the sadness and dark thoughts in her mind.

A Zeltron Knight walked around a corner near Terra and Anshara. He waved at both of them and made brief eye contact with Terra, giving her a crooked smile before stopping across from the two of them, but not otherwise differentiating between the two of them in order to keep things on a professional level and avoid embarrassing Terra. This was probably hard enough for her already without the added stress of emotions.
"Ladies," he took in both of them with a smile and winked at Anshara before resuming a serious demeanor. It was a brief gesture designed to lighten a mood that seemed on the verge of growing dark. He didn't say anything else though. This was Terra's party.
Well, it wasn't a party by any stretch of the imagination. But, it was her time to shine and Nik had no intention of getting in the way of that. He tugged his green outer vest straight, even though it already was and clasped his hands behind his back.

Terra smiled a little as Anshara approached, noting that she almost looked a little sad about something. She didn't really pay it much attention due to being preoccupied with the task at hand. Nodding a silent greeting towards the younger girl, she turned back towards the direction of the lab, the dark presence in the Force easily giving its location away.
It wasn't long before Nik had arrived as well, flashing his usual smile. She felt comforted by his presence here, and that did give a small boost to her confidence as well. Now that they were both here, it was time to get this mission started.
She took a deep breath, knowing that both Nik and Anshara would be looking to her for this one, so they needed some kind of plan."The lab is close by...let's check it out."She didn't really have much of a plan at the moment, honestly just making it all up as she went at the moment.

Nik nodded silently and fell into step a half-pace behind Terra's left shoulder as the small group headed off deeper into the Underworld.
He shot a glance over at Anshara as the other girl kept very quiet. Finally, he asked her, "what do you know of the setup in this lab?" she might not know anything. But then, asking wouldn't hurt. And besides, from what he'd seen when he had found her unconscious in a semi-destroyed warehouse, she had known exactly who she was fighting. And she had known where he was going to be. This meant she had put in time and effort to learning his habits, and since he was connected on some level to the alchemy lab, Anshara had probably seen him there before. The other question he had no answer for was who Terra had spoken with in the shadows before they left for the Temple. However, eyeing her left ear provided no insight there either.
The Zeltron sighed very quietly. The jumbled emotions of the underworld's denizens always bothered him. On a good day it was like an itch just under the surface and just out of scratching reach. On a bad day.... well, he didn't like to think about those. Zeltrons liked to be around happy and positive people. That was a bit hard to arrange in the cesspit that was Coruscant's Underworld.

Alchemy Lab
Hidden deep within the depths of a Sith alchemy lab within one of the less salubrious districts of an already unsalubrious sector of Coruscant life, several plots seemed to be coming together. Dressed in midnight black with an overcoat of dark purple that was belted at the waist, an old man sat behind a desk covered in charts, datacards, and a holophoto. There were three people in the photo, but one's face had been burned out. The second figure was recognizably the room's sole occupant though much younger at the time. And the third, well, the third was known only to himself. One of the datacards contained a report on the recent destruction of a warehouse nearby with a few interesting aspects.
He leaned back in his chair, picking up a lightsaber hilt that fit his hand just as perfectly now as it had all those years ago. Dark eyebrows drew down over his eyes as he frowned, idly spinning the hilt over his knuckles and catching it. If anyone had been around to see, they would have noted the fire smouldering in his eyes, eyes that had once been a soft brown. Dark hair showed dignified streaks of grey. Beyond the door to his office he could hear the bustle of life outside in the lab, more than that he could feel it.
Much like a spider, he wove his web from the shadows, but he could feel his ultimate prey somewhere out there, drawing closer. Perhaps he needed to offer an incentive...

Anshara had noticed the different behaviour between the two. In the infirmary they had tried to avoid each another. No looks or mostly from Nik while Terra seemed to feel at unease but now it was different. Something had happened between the two of them and Anshara was under the impression that Terra true strength from Nik's presence. She sighed inwardly and noted to herself that she would have to have an eye on Nik as well. In case anything happened to him there was a chance that Terra would fall apart and Anshara be left alone. She cursed the emotions of other people but didn't say a word instead she simply kept her mouth shut.
She tilted her head as the Jedi knight asked her about the alchemy lab. The secret of the lab itself was unknown even to her. She had encountered two of those labs by now and they had been totally different with few exceptions.
"To be honest: not that much. The labs are all different. I think they are producing a drug here that causes people to react more violently. Also it helps Darksiders to enter a mind more easily. Be prepared for anything. Don't trust your senses and don't reach out with the mind to try and find anything. In best case we stand next to you and you will sense us in the Force being at the other side of the room. Watch out for traps especially Force traps. Most of them can be deactivated but... there might be a trap that feels like it's... trying to lick your soul. You will feel disgusted, goose bumps and have a knot in your throat. When you feel that... call me immediately and don't try anything."
She looked at the entrance and her hand touched the hilt of the lightsaber: "Something has changed since the last time we were here. The darkness is like a stench in the air."

Nik almost hesitated. Anshara seemed very sure of what she would find, and his gut was telling him it wouldn't be nearly that simple. He doubted that an alchemy lab would hang out a signpost in garish neon letters announcing to everyone "Sith Alchemy Lab here: come learn the ways of the Dark Side, Bring back your dead relatives." Not this close to the Jedi Temple. He suspected there would be a front, but Anshara would know of this, yes?
"It probably looks like an innocuous tapcafe, unless one knows what to look for...or feel," he continued in a low, musing tone as he thought aloud.
On a side note, he took a deep breath, and inquired, "How far has your---training gone, Anshara?" in a subdued whisper after he glanced around to see that no one was paying overtly particular attention to the small group. He knew that Anshara had some knowledge of how to use a lightsaber at least. After all, she was still alive. Beyond that however, in terms of applying the Force, he did not know enough of her to tell.

Terra was silent as she listened to them talk, taking the details about the lab from Anshara. It sounded like they would definitely know when they had found it, even though she could already tell that there was a dark presence nearby. At first she had assumed it was the lab, but now that she thought about it, it didn't really feel anything like what Anshara had just described. It felt eerily similar to what she had experienced in her nightmare. A shiver ran down her spine as they slowly drew closer to it.
She stopped after a minute, turning towards the two."I sense something...it's not the lab though."It seemed strange, but it was almost as if whoever was in there didn't care at all that he was sticking out like a sore thumb, even in the darkness of the underworld. It occurred to her that this was probably intentional, meant to draw her into a trap. It had to be a trap, one meant for her."It's a person. There's someone in there, I can feel him."

Alchemy Lab
Unheard by anyone else, a long sigh drifted up from behind a desk that was mostly in order. Fire momentarily glowed in a pair of dark eyes before he reached out and set down the lightsaber hilt he'd been toying with. The sounds of activity drifted in vaguely through the door. Outside in a seemingly innocuous tapcaf front drinks were being served and deals being struck. Back here though...
He closed his eyes and let his feeling drift, sifting through the emotions and auras of the beings nearby. A couple he knew well, several others felt vaguely familiar, one was definitely a Jedi... and another that he almost overlooked at first. Well, he came back to that one---and his eyes popped open, drifting over to the holo on his desk as a slow smile twitched at the corner of his lips.

"You think this might be what, uhm, caused the dreams?" he didn't know how else to say it without coming right out about it. He'd found her last night screaming and crying and obviously distressed as a result of nightmares. And he knew she expected a trap here, something for her personally though it remained to be seen how that would work out.
Nik made a grin and kept moving, not exerting all his charm as it would not do to make the women relax into a sleep at this point. Besides, from the glances Anshara had shot him a couple times he suspected she had listened to the more salubrious bits of Zeltron-related gossip.

Anshara reacted a bit startled by the question. Her training? Well it was her everyday life and she had no idea on how far her training was comparable to that of a Jedi. She looked at Nik and realized that her mouth was gapping open like that of a small child. She closed it and gulped, trying to make up an explanation she didn't have.
"I don't know. I mean... I train every single day and so on but... I don't know what it is in comparison to a Jedi. Does it help when I say I'm well trained in infiltration, assassination, movement and languages?"
She looked at Terra with a certain cry for help in her green and blue eyes. She didn't know what they expected from her and finally she shrugged her shoulders stepped into the shadows and allowed them to take her in. Clothing herself in them just like the old man had done who had talked with Terra while she tuned her aura in the Force with her surroundings.
"Does that help with your question? It's pretty easy for me and I think it's best when they don't know that we are three... I think... but I guess that's your decision?" The voice came somewhere from the shadows and the last question was meant for Terra.
She looked at Terra. Like always she felt like hovering at the side of her own body when she used the techniques she called stepping sideways. It helped her allowing merging with the shadows when she stepped into the darkness of her mind. Still seeing everything but distancing herself from her emotions.
"Dreams? Don't allow them to cloud your mind. In case this is a Sith in there you mustn't think about them, changes might be that he will be able to use them against you. Your fears are real don't hide from them but allow them to control you. Keep to the code. Remember: Emotions are bound to your will - ignorance endures but your own knowledge will lead - passion has it's time and place so does serenity - Ashla and Bogan are two sides of one and the same - the mind is free, alignment a decision."
She recited the code, the mantra her father had taught her. She wasn't sure if it was the same code the Jedi followed but she was pretty sure that it had the right meaning. After all it was there to keep the own mind free to call of power, hatred and the loss of control but also from becoming inhuman and above the needs of mortals. What better protection could there possibly be?

Terra nodded."It's the same presence I felt in the dream."Truth be told it was less of a dream and more of a vision, but of what, she couldn't not say. She would probably find out very soon anyway.
She wasn't sure what to make of Anshara's speech about dreams, but then, she hadn't really explain about what had happened last night. But then, Jade had often said something similar in not taking too much stock in visions, as the future was always in motion and could always change. Of course, Anshara likely operated under an entirely different code than the Jedi anyway, but now wasn't the time to be debating philosophy...
Anshara had asked if she should remain hidden just in case, and Terra suddenly thought that it wouldn't be a bad idea. If Terra and Nik got into trouble or if there were more Sith in there than first suspected, it would be nice to have some hidden backup.
She nodded to Anshara."Yes...um...stay hidden and keep close by. If they don't see you, maybe you can sneak up on them if things get dicey in that lab."

Green eyes widened a bit at Anshara's reply, but Nik didn't say anything at the moment. A smile tugged at his lips as he momentarily wondered what she would be like if she ever relaxed and took a minute to enjoy the finer things of life. In fact, he knew of a few names he could pass along to her in case she ever wanted a night off duty, so to speak.
However, her code differed from that of the Jedi. It wasn't his business to go into it. As far as he was concerned, she was an ally in this. Doubtless she'd be able to infiltrate the lab, and he already knew she'd be handy in a tight spot.
Nik unclipped his lightsaber from his belt and tucked it into his boot as was his habit when out in public. Most people didn't associate Zeltrons with Jedi, and in his opinion it was an advantage he could use. Then, he offered Terra his arm. She was wearing more traditional Jedi clothes than he was, so he doubted a ruse would last for long, but it might temporarily allay suspicions in the beginning.
"In that case, perhaps I could buy you a drink, Terra?" he inquired, with a glance at Anshara, already slipping into the shadows. That trick of hers could be useful. He wondered if it was innate, or taught.
If they played along with the facade that the lab masqueraded behind it might give them a few seconds to assess the situation and see what they were up against. Emerald eyes turned a shade darker as he looked at Terra before glancing away. She could probably tell that he was a bit on edge, but there was no need to let her know that he was worried about her and what she might find in there. He had a feeling that she would be annoyed by someone actually trying to protect her. And there was no sense in exasperating her till she did something reckless.

The young woman got behind the couple now standing in the light but still cloaking herself. She felt it was easier for her to step into the shadows to allow herself to dissapear from the human eye. It wasn't necessary but it was easier to blend into the shadows while wearing dark clothes. Being rather close to the two od them so that she could pass through any door with them she made sure that there was no blind spot in their aura because of her imitating a bit of Terra's and Nik's to make the illusion perfect.
"I'm ready to be your shadow. Just walk straight through the door as I wouldn't like to get hit by it."

*The Sun Dog slowly made its way through the under city of Coruscant. The darkness around the ship was illuminated by glowing signs and dim streetlights, each painting the ships hull in a different color. Kaytra carefully navigated the vessel over walkways and under large supports. The ships navigation system was having a hard time navigating the maze of streets, but from what it told her, they were approaching the first LZ.* ::Alright, we're almost on top of the first drop off point.:: *She looked out of the cockpit window to see a catwalk directly in front and slightly below the ship. That was the first spot. She'd drop off most of the squad here then head to the hangar bay where they would regroup. Reaching over, she hit a button on the consul to unlock the bay doors before slowing the ship down.* ::This is it. Doors unlocked, catwalks directly below us, first squad you're clear for drop.:: *Kaytra brought the gunship directly over the catwalk and set it to hover. Fortunately the catwalk they chose was a maintenance walkway and currently had no one on it.*
