The Coronet Capitol Tower houses the planetary government of Corellia, the local offices of the planet's Senatorial delegation, and the command center of the Corellian Defense Forces.

The great doors of the capital tower made way for Kherik and his escort. The taller officer took point and led the group to a nearby turbolift, taking a ride to the 47th floor. Out of the lift and three doors down the hallway, they came to an office door with the name "Dron Th'oro - Deputy Director, CorSec Administration" embossed on a brass plate. The taller officer stood beside the door while the shorter officer opened the door for Kherik. He stepped inside as the door shut behind him.
A stout uniformed man in his fifties gazing out of an office window spun to face him, one eye scarred over. "Kherik... been some time, hasn't it son?"
Memories rushed back into Kherik's head. "Dron... didn't think I was ever gonna see you again."
"It's been what, seven years since the accident?" Dron furrowed his brow and sighed "And here we are again." The man sat in his chair and faced his terminal, accessing the CorSec database. "Y'know I never knew if we'd ever speak again, but..." he trailed off.
"...but?" Kherik asked.
Dron continued. "I'm sorry for your loss. It must've been difficult following the incident."
"I've managed to get by. It's... made me strong" Kherik trailed off.
"Indeed." Dron replied "Truth be told, I've kept up on you. It's why I've brought you here."
"What're you talking about?" Kherik inquired.
"I'm talking about you. On the cusp of life. Staying in school, working steady. I've heard you're quite the expert with machines." The officer stated, doing so while he browsed through some files on his terminal.
"Yeah?"
"I've also heard of your penchant for your... extracurricular activities." He eyed Maar. Kherik said nothing.
"Underground fighting circles, contacts within the underworld," Dron spun the terminal's screen towards Kherik "grand larceny, illegal tampering with vehicles, associating with known criminals throughout the whole of Corellia." He stared at the young man.
Kherik looked down at the desk, then back at the deputy director. "I don't have any idea what you're talking about." He smiled. "What's this supposed to be anyway?"
"This?" Dron stood up and walked around the desk and behind Kherik to a file cabinet. "Evidence." He pulled a folder out from one of the drawers, then made his way back around to his seat.
"Even so... what of it?" Kherik asked.
"It could mean quite some time at a penal colony..." Dron began "However I believe that would be a remarkable waste of your talents."
"What're you on about?"
"I mean you've got potential, kid. Physical conditioning, intelligence, a tactile skillset in engineering, stealth and subterfuge, evasion, and what's more? You've got a certain edge. That kind of rebel spirit that leads you to act against the system, and the right skills to make something of it." Dron paused, then looked back at Kherik "What you lack is focus. You're adrift, keeping low-time with this... underworld lifestyle of yours. It's very... crude." he finished.
"Well I haven't had a visa to success in my time. I've worked for everything that I've achieved. Earned it." Kherik defended.
"Exactly what I'm talking about. This evidence, it's more than just evidence of crimes... it's evidence of your potential." Dron opened the folder he grabbed from before and laid it on the desk in front of Maar. A paper with the words "Black Epsilon" was at the top of a small stack. "You see, your struggle has indeed made you strong. It's made you who you are. A sort of diamond in the rough, if you will." He bridged his hands in front of him and looked Kherik directly in the eye. "I'm giving you what you need in life: Focus."
Kherik looked at the paper in front of him and queried "Black Epsilon?"
"A specialist group in need of someone with your talents." Dron answered. "You see I have a colleague unto whom I owe a debt. He needed a recruit for a special assignment: someone who had untapped potential who could fill his needs; someone from the outside. I've recommended you for that role."
"Why? Why me?"
"Because you're precisely what he needs, but more to the point it's what you need. I knew your father and owe it to him to see his son rise above this life." Dron replied, his thoughts heavy.
Kherik couldn't help but wonder what the officer was referring to. "What do you mean you owe it to him?"
"A discussion perhaps... for another time. For now, sign this." He offered Maar a pen and gestured to the bottom of the last page in the stack.
"Will I be joining this 'Black Epsilon' group?" Kherik asked.
"Mmm, more of a private contractor. You'll be working for my colleague as an independent agent. As for what you'll be doing exactly, I'm not at liberty to discuss it." Dron explained.
Kherik delved into his thoughts, considering everything he had just heard. It sounded like it would mean leaving everything he knew behind, but that would be of little discomfort to Kherik. Besides, something about this seemed like an unrealized opportunity. Perhaps it was the start of something great, or it could lead nowhere significant. Regardless, it appealed to Maar's adventurous spirit. Pen in hand, he signed on the bottom line.
"Whatever. To wherever the winds take me." Kherik finished. He set the pen down and stood from his seat. Dron extended a hand, which Kherik took while chuckling "Pen and paper, though? A little archaic, isn't it?"
"It's what he brought me. I'll be in contact within the next 72 hours." He showed Kherik the door, opening it for him and stopping the young man halfway through the threshold. "Maar... take care of yourself."
"Yeah." Kherik resigned. The deputy director closed the door behind him. Kherik made his way down the turbolift and out through the lobby into the outer pavilion. He glanced back at the tower before making his way back into the city in the direction of Theron's apartment.
"...what a day this turned out to be."

Arriving from the Corellian Academy with her new friend/informant/Sith pawn/mysterious visitor, Kay'li stepped from the last car of a mag-lev train onto the elevated platform, followed closely by the Twi'lek called Five. The Jedi Knight cast her eyes briefly in all directions, then led the way across the platform, descended several steps, and across a raised walkway to the other side of the busy street. And there, rising imposingly before their eyes to a height of nearly twenty stories, was the imposing, blocky grey building that houses the planet's administrative offices. The building had clearly been designed as much or more for function as for aesthetics -- it had been the target of bombardment more than once, and as a result, the current Capitol Tower was built to offer at least a small amount of resistance.Passing beneath the six heavy columns that supported the overhanging floors above the entrance, the two women were confronted by a pair of CorSec guards at the main security checkpoint. "You'll have to leave any weapons here, and claim them when we're done inside." She informed Five. One by one, the guards waved each visitor through the weapons detectors, occasionally stopping to confiscate some contraband, with clicking tongues and wagging fingers replacing their otherwise friendly nature. A neon "Check Your Weapons Here" overhead sign pointed off to the left, to a small kiosk and a waiting C3 series protocol droid. One of the uniformed guards smiled in recognition as the Jedi Knight held out her lightsaber, and handed it back to her promptly after she had passed through the scanner, before turning their attention to Five. Kay paused, waiting to see what the Twi'lek would do.Kay realized she had already found another way to test the intentions of the strange visitor, even though that had nothing to do with their purpose in visiting the Capitol. Not that she really cared whether Five was armed or unarmed. It seemed only natural that she would be, given the apparent nature of her mission. Coming prepared wasn't in itself a threat to anyone or anything on Corellia, and was no more than she herself would have done in the same situation. But it would still be useful information, either way.

The twilek with the slaves collar came in behind the jedi and at once set off the sensors. Her left cybernetic hand was able to shock whatever it touched if she so wished, a kind of a stun feature, and the other worked a lot like a crushgaunt, able to crush flesh, bone, even weaker metals. Most importantly, they were her hands. For the slave, her hands were her most prised possessions, gifts from her mistress. Without them she felt weak, vulnerable and like a cripple. She would use the term in a degrading way, and that is how she felt. Degraded, a second grade being. It wasnt nice, it wasnt politicly correct, but that is how she felt.
-5- "My hands are my weapons. Cybernetics. Do I really have to give them away? I am sure the jedi knight can handle little old me if I happen to turn into a murdering rampage. And... well... I rather not walk around with my stumps."
She joked, but wasnt sure if the guard would be welcoming a joke like that, in hindsight. She had an other cybernetic inplant, the right eye. And while it was not weaponised, it was far more dangerous then any weapon the slave had. It could take pictures. Information was far more dangerous then any blaster or blade. She hoped that would go unnoticed since it wasnt weaponised.

The guards had no concerns about photography in the public areas of the Capitol. Tourists with cameras entered and exited at all hours of the day and night, taking pictures for whatever purpose they pleased, and their intentions were only challenged if they sought covert access to a restricted area. But Kay'li had no intention of visiting a restricted area. Their only destination was the immigration section of the public records office, which any Corellian citizen could access. It was true that she would be using her Jedi clearances to retrieve more data that the average Han could access, but she intended to be extremely selective in her queries. Neither she herself nor Five had any need-to-know beyond a very limited area.
=Guard= The guard shot the Jedi a quizzical glance as he approached the former slave with a hand wand, and gestured, asking to see her hands. His primary focus was ranged weapons, or anything that could be used to attack a large number of people at once. Neither the stun feature nor the crush feature met those conditions, and so they were not an automatic rejection. But they were still technically weapons, according to his scanners, and he wasn't supposed to allow them inside. "Ma'am, do you have any way to turn off the ... more aggressive ... features of your hands?" He asked kindly. "I do not wish to deprive you of sentientness." By which he meant the concept of humanity, only for a non-human sentient.
The Jedi knight smiled slightly to herself as she waited. A different solution had occurred to her, but first she wanted to see how the guard would handle this.

-5- "You could slap a restraining bolt on them, and at least I wont look stupid, if slightly useless. The hands are built with control points."
Misdirection. Concentrate on an obvious threat without a thought on the real one. She was feeling like she is going to get through with a working camera inside her eyes, and get the layout of a major goverment building. Her only trouble was that she wasnt force sensitive. Her exitement may have been flashing a little bit as she reached her hands forward to the guard, pointing at a place to put the restraining bolts on each.

The Jedi Knight arched an eyebrow slightly but said nothing in response, merely nodding in the affirmative to the guards as they attached a restraining bolt to each bionic arm. She had been about to suggest the exact same solution herself, if the Twi'lek had not mentioned it first. It was the only humane thing to do. She was not really surprised to hear Five suggest the solution, but it was worth noticing, and a little bit coincidental that the two had come to the same conclusion. Or had it simply been the nudging of the Force that had opened her eyes to the possible solution? Kay'li couldn't be sure whether it was a simple precognition, or a meaningful coincidence. What she could sense, though the force, was that the visitor was a little too eager to be subjected to the restraints. That couldn't be only relief at being able to keep her arms attached and functional. Something else was going on.
Behind her expressionless face, Kay'li smiled inwardly as she plucked the restraint remote from the guard. She had made the right decision by agreeing to help this stranger, and accepting the opportunity to observe her activities up close. The former slave had passed one test, but she had also proven herself to be of further interest.
What the Twi'lek perhaps did not yet herself understand was that on a free planet like Corellia, the photographic intelligence she was about to gather was hardly difficult to obtain, and even if the Jedi did discover her activities, it would be difficult to prosecute her for any crime, unless it could be proven that the imaging was connected to a criminal activity or foreign government.
Once the restraints had been properly fastened, the Jedi Knight motioned her guest to follow her through the doors into the lobby of the Capitol Tower. The guard who had fastened the restraining bolts gazed after them with a skeptical expression, his eyes fixed on the remote in Kay'li's right hand, but he said nothing, deferring authority to the Jedi. The lobby was a nearly cube-shaped marble room with a white floor, grey walls, and a gold ceiling, illuminated with a thousand hidden glow panels. On both sides, recessed doors opened into turbolifts with the names of various departments on them, and directly ahead, at the far end of the lobby, another set of double-doors opened into a narrower hallway beyond, running the rest of the depth of the building's main floor. A few guards were visible, but most of the lobby was empty, aside from knots of tourists or low-level bureaucrats.

What interested the Twilek slave was two things, from an intelligence gathering standpoint. For first, the make and producing company of the security doors. Secondly, and most importantly, she gave the wall with the different departments a good look and picture taking. What she looked for was the ID manifacturing or storing databanks. This was not her mission, not specifically. She was only a sleeper, scouting out the enviroment, but she had preset options.
Gaining a hand in a republic worlds ID storage or manufactoring (ID cards-chips) lab would open a LOT of new doors for further operations.
Of course, Five was yet unaware of her order of slaves new masters. She was still oblibious that she was now not only a spy, but an Imperial Spy.
She followed, gathered, and waited....... her own mission was now on. She would find the person who took her hands away.

Entering one of the lifts, Knight Raganella selected the sixth floor, and the doors closed, carrying the Jedi and the slave upward. The interior of the lift car itself was extremely plain. It was basically a white box with a pair of metallic handrails, set at two different heights, and a minimalist control pad. After a few seconds, the car slowed to a stop, and a bell sounded as the doors slid open again with a slight whoosh of air. Beyond, was a hallway in much the same style as the first floor, only narrower, and far less crowded. Here, the grey walls were decorated with green shapes of plants and animals, and the ceiling was white, not golden.
Turning left out of the turbolift, Kay'li motioned Five forward, and followed at her side. The first door on the right was a double-door with a large sign over it, Immigration Records Office. Her lips cracked into a friendly smile as she pushed the door open and the pair entered a bustling waiting room filled with staffers in four foot high cubicles and bored-looking civilians, most of them aliens, sitting around on benches and chairs and even the floor. There was a queue of about ten people at the front desk, but the Jedi Knight did not join the line. Instead, she wove her way through the room with a practiced air to a security desk at the back of the room. Beyond, were a half dozen desks with computer terminals, all of them vacant. The guard at the desk saw Kay'li, glanced up and down at her Jedi robes for a moment, stared skeptically at Five, and waved them past.
"Here we are." Kay'li announced, taking a seat at one of the terminals, and pulling a second chair over for Five. The terminal displayed a login prompt, and the Jedi entered her name, Jedi Knight Kay'li Raganella, and a tiny camera scanned her face, reading not only her surface features but also imagining her flesh to confirm that she was alive and not some technological or biological trick. "When the police or the Jedi need to know something from the public records, this is where we come. If we need something non-public, of course, we have to have a warrant approved and placed on file first, before we arrive." The terminal displayed a search screen, and the Knight began by selecting the timeframe that Five had suggested in their earlier conversation.

She cept taking pictures. Pictures of her way in, pictures of eployees. The workers behind the counters, the security personell, the security checkpoints. This would later be set together, and sent home for the analysing people. Something usefull would be done with it, for sure. She didnt really care about that. She just did her job to get close to... her. She even took a picture of the scan-password for the jedi. She wanted to be very usefull. At the end of this road, manadgement would have to do some real secrefices for her, and she wanted it to be worth.
She would not rot in a republic prison.
She took her seat, and pput her useless hands on the table, just to make sure she didnt hit them into anything. Not that they would get hurt, they were kinda weaponised, but ... she was very fond of them.
Her heart sank when the search hits number was displayed. It was.... VERY long. But, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. She would be there SOMEWHERE. MUST be.
-5- "Narrow the search. Exclude any alien life forms that could not pass for humans. Twileks, wookies, all."

Even Kay'li was surprised just how many people showed up in the immigration database. She knew they had processed a lot of refugees during those years, but until you are actually staring at page one of the entire list, and seeing that there are over 6700 pages, you don't quite realize how to visualize a number with that many digits. She nodded at Five's latest suggestion, and tapped a few keys. The list was cut almost in half. "Good suggestion. She might have adapted excessive body modifications, but that seems unlikely. We'll assume she's still a humanoid for now."
She paused as she thought about the other parameters. "What about age?" She asked. "That can be faked, but only so far. Let's remove everyone under the age of 14." There was another click, and the screen flickered a few times as the list reduced further. There were still dozens of pages. It would not be physically impossible to sift through them all, but it would still likely take months.
"Are you sure you can't narrow the date down any further?" The Knight glanced at the former slave. Her options were limited. It was possible that the Force could lead her to narrow the list further, but she would need to know a lot more about Five's former mistress before she could form a sense of her. And Kay wasn't entirely sure if it was even appropriate for her to use the Force in a situation like this. She had no evidence against the alleged former slaver, aside from a single witness whom she already knew was being influenced by an unknown power. "Or can you tell me more about what kind of person she was?"

Offices of the Ministry of DefenseAfter a long and illustrious fifty-four year career in service to the Corellian Defense Forces, which included over a decade as supreme commander of the Five Worlds' space fleets and defenses, Admiral Michael Korr retired from the CDF at the age of seventy-two. The Ministry of Defense immediately held an election for a new military head, and Michael's thirty-seven year old son, Admiral Jacen Korr, after an unanimous vote, was promoted to the position long held by his father. Jacen was a capable veteran of many conflicts, and a talented military commander in his own right, having commanded a fleet since his mid-twenties.=Admiral Jacen Korr=Jacen had been receiving disturbing reports about the status of the Republic for close to a year now. It all started with the embarrassing scandals at Ryloth and Kuat, and it never really ended. Behind the scenes, he had done his homework, but a time for action was fast approaching. The Five Worlds could not assume to count on the Republic to protect them if war came to the Corellian system. They would need to prepare to stand on their own. At Senator Koronov's suggestion, he had attempted to patch up the Ryloth situation, by sending one of his officers to intercede directly with Senator Crom'nen, but as yet, there had been no positive report from Coruscant. But today had brought the final straw, with the breaking news from Naboo that Vice Chancellor Darma had been found murdered. Jacen was decisive in his response, and immediately sent out a message to all CDF ship captains who were currently in the Sector. Gather the Sector Fleet over Selonia

Offices of the Ministry of Defense
If Jacen had thought that Naboo's terrible news was going to be the most exciting part of his day, he was sorely mistaken. No sooner had he issues orders for the CDF forces to gather over Selonia, intending to order a full readiness inspection and to confer with his captains, but word reached his offices of the arrival of Rear-Admiral Zemad Zhundilt of the Battlegroup Pertinax, formerly attached to the Galactic Republic's Core Fleet. The commander and his forces seemed to genuinely have arrived from the heat of battle elsewhere in the Core Worlds, and requested immediate assistance from Corellia.
=Admiral Korr= Just as he finished donning his most formal dress uniform, and before he could board his shuttle for Selonia, Admiral Korr was informed that Admiral Orsina Biancardi, his counterpart, had rearranged her schedule to meet with the Republic officer. Jacen was pleased, Orsina was a good tactician and a better negotiator. But, he thought, it might be wise for him to make a detour and introduce himself to the Republic Rear Admiral. He needed to know what his forces ought to be preparing to fight.
Exiting Coronet City's government administrative hub via a private exit, Admiral Korr jumped into a waiting armored speeder, and ordered the CDF driver to take him to the command center (one of many throughout the city and the planet) where Orsina and Zhundilt were meeting.

Communications CenterA long-range, encrypted hypercom transmission arrived at the CDF communications hub in Coronet Capitol Tower, on a military channel reserved for direct communications between high-ranking CDF officers and the Jedi of the Corellian Academy. It was Kel'Al Raganella, broadcasting from Carida. This is Jedi Master Kel'Al Raganella, requesting an all points watch notice, according to CDF-Jedi cooperation protocol 17-1. I am looking for an old Corellian freighter from the XS series, named 'The Wayward Son.' Please inform me immediately on this channel should the ship be sighted in Corellian space, but do not make contact. Please forward this alert to our Republic allies and forward any responses to me. Thank you.A communications officer with a high-level security clearance recorded the request into the CDF space traffic control system, then forwarded the alert to Admiral Korr and other high-ranking CDF officers. Once their approvals came back, it was sent on to the Five Brothers, Naboo, and the handful of other Republic worlds with whom Corellia still maintained official ties. If the ship described by the Jedi Master entered allied airspace and was detected by official sources, or made official contact, Kel'Al would be notified.

A slightly accented voice addressed Aerandir, accompanied by the quarter-size image of a middle-aged Drall. Master Calmcacil, this is Hadrig of the Corellian Council. *With communications established, Aeranir's holographic form would appear, inclining its digital head toward the Councilor that addressed him before speaking.* "Councilor Hadrig, well met. I'm attempting to contact as many former Republic worlds as I can, in light of both the government's dissolution and the notion of Imperial resurgence on the horizon, hinted at by the 'Knight of Ren' from his broadcast on Muunilinst. Essentially, the galaxy seems ripe for the picking... and we cannot allow that.
"That is why I've begun seeking you out. I am seeking to create an Alliance between free worlds, a concept certainly not new to the galaxy, but one I feel will strengthen us against whatever the Imperials are planning. Already I have spoken to the representatives of Mon Calamari, and they have agreed to join with us and support us with a navy. I'm now turning to other significant worlds with Republic allegiance.
"What I seek to create is not an attempt at restoration of a galactic government, but a united front. Brothers in arms, sworn to defend each other, with the Jedi as their shield; not as their head, I assure you. True military and political presences are to form the command hierarchy of this Alliance, or at least, that's the intent. We only wish to see the galaxy protected against whatever it is that the Imperial is planning.
"So, what say you? If you have any concerns or questions, please voice them, and if you need time to consider the proposal, please do so, but do be wary; we don't know how much time we have left."

=Councilor Hadrig=
The Drall's wise eyes sharpened and focused as he realized the full importance of the Jedi's request. The former Senator began by updating Aerandir on recent events in the Corellia system, so that he would know where they stood, and what to expect. The Corellians had not been idle, but many of them were also relishing the chance at independence.
We have noticed the same, Master Jedi, and we have moved to secure ourselves first, and then our allies. The ancient Council of the Five Worlds has been re-authorized as the governing body of the Corellian system, and Corellia, Selonia, Drall, and the Double Worlds have each named a new Councilor. With the Republic Navy in shambles, we have promoted Admiral Jacen Korr of the former Republic Core Fleet, a Corellian Defense Forces veteran, to Supreme Commander of the Five Worlds, and we will soon be electing a Prime Minister of the Five Worlds.
We have been in close contact with the Naboo, and they remain allied with us, but we have not heard from very many other worlds, so it is good to hear from you. Unlike my counterpart, the former Senator and now Councilor Dmitri Koronov, I have always held some doubts about the Republic, or any other galactic government. I favor a series of free alliances, much like you describe. We should not be forced to support or fund the unjust warmongering of recent years. Likewise, we should be able to act quickly, on our own initiative, when a friend is in need, without committee meetings and red tape forcing us to stand by while innocent men, women, and children die. So, I personally welcome your offer, but I must consult with the rest of the council. Do not worry, we will not take long.
He paused, tilting his head slightly.
I do have one question, however, Master Jedi. As a matter of policy on Corellia, the civilian governmental leaders and the Jedi leaders observe a separation of powers. Treaties between governments, while Jedi may aid negotiations or provide advice, are signed between political and military leaders, not by Jedi. Likewise, while we may give our opinions to the Jedi, we leave any alliances among Force users to them to decide. As you yourself stated, you do not want the Jedi to be the head of this Alliance. So, first, who is in command, and second, does Master Serrin Roma know about this?

*Aerandir's hologram nodded, seemingly pleased that the Five Worlds had quickly re-established their own seat of government, as well as their continued alliance with Naboo. He nodded again, agreeing with the assessment that an alliance of free worlds would be stronger. Before he could agree to their need to consider the proposal, Hadrig asked first who is in command, and second if Master Roma was aware of this.* "It is very low-key for the moment, but yes, Master Roma is aware; our Alliance's existence at this point is known by most of the Jedi and those I've spoken directly to. I'm doing my best to keep it relatively unknown, so when the Imperial makes their first move, we've got a surprise for them.
As for chain-of-command, it's still in the fledgling stages. The most concrete name I can give you is Astarii Saren, former Republic Admiral, now commanding officer of the Rendili Home Defense Fleet. Essentially, she had the biggest ship." *He chuckled, signifying it was a joke. Mostly.* "Me, I'm merely trying to get everyone together. I highly agree that the Jedi are to be little more than advisers or aid in these matters, but we aim to give all the help we can."

=Councilor Hadrig= Excellent. The Drall replied, clearly pleased with the answer and the self-awareness demonstrated by the Jedi of the limits of his own role in this. Well then, with that one important clarification, I see no reason why the Five Worlds would not agree to seriously consider your proposal, and swiftly approve it. He paused, and a datapad appeared in his hand, which he consulted for two or three seconds. I think I am authorized to say that you can count us in, tentatively, of course. Any formal agreement will need to be put to flimsi and signed between us and your Admiral Saren, or someone in a role similar to hers.
And for the time being, we will keep this between us, the Corellian Council, and the Jedi...? His last sentence ended in something of a question, given the Jedi Master's observation about keeping the Alliance low-key.
