Kebiin finishes his second drink in a long pull, a feat made much easier by his size, and slides his helmet back on.
Vor entye, vod.
Seeing that the location he had been given was some distance away, Kebiin quickly stops by his ship first. After a few moments in the hold and another lock-down procedure on his ship, he is moving quickly through the streets astride his swoop. Between the speed of his vehicle and the detailed directions he had been given, it was mere minutes before he had arrived at the intel office. Shutting down his swoop and stepping inside, he looks around the facility to get his bearings.

It was fairly nondescript from the outside. Like many out the buildings operated by the clan in the city, it was near the outskirts of the town. It looked like someone had taken an old military bunker & retooled it into a mostly buried office building. In truth it had been designed & build with that very philosophy. Just inside the only door, the entrance was a long flight of leading down to below the level of the surrounding ground & ending in a large lobby that would be nearly impossible to cross if someone set up a repeating blaster. The only thing that could be used for cover was the heavily armoured counter at the far end of the lobby. There were a few scattered groups in the lobby, but for the most part it was empty. At the counter that stretched from one side wall of the Lobby to the other were several armoured figures apparently on hand to deal with any visitors.

Taking a moment to secure his swoop outside the facility, Kebiin enters the austere building. It's spartan nature and clear fortifiable nature did not go unnoticed. They may not be your traditional clan, but the locals were certainly organized. Spotting the apparent welcome delegation, Kebiin approaches.
Su'cuy. Kebiin Carid, I believe someone messaged ahead about me?

One of the DO mandos at the counter checked the feed that had been routed to the front desk, sure enough a mando matching the stranger's description had been directed to them.
-DO clerk Certainly, what do you need Mr. Carid?
The clerk was very professional of course, he had started out in the service industry long before he had joined up with the D'Ordinii clan. He wasn't very well versed in the actual intel side of what they did in the levels of offices below, but he was very, very good at manning a counter & passing on the approved info to the parties in question. Even if he never did see the information himself.

If the locals weren't wearing armor, Kebiin would have trouble remember this was Mandalorian territory. The feel of the facility almost made him think he was back in the core.
I am looking for files or information pertaining to Jaster Skirata. Everything so far has pointed to your records as being the most thorough, and my best chance of finding any concrete information. So far, rumors have led me nowhere.

It didn't take long for the clerk to enter the request & get a reply. It turns out the information wasn't even restricted. The clan was literally handing it out to anyone that asked about it.
-Clerk Certainly, if you will wait just a moment, we will have the data prepared for you.
The process would take a few minutes, mainly as the DO clan was very, very careful about not connecting their private holonet with the public galactic one. Even if they had been connected, it would not have done any good as the DO Holonet used a completely different programing language that was completely incompatible with the standard galactic coding. This mean the data had to be printed out on reusable sheets & scanned into another device that would translate the printed pages back into data files. About five minutes later, a datafile with nearly three hundred pages worth of data had been compiled for Carid. Once it was ready, it was delivered to the clerk at the front counter, who called out into the lobby.
-Clerk Mr. Carid, your documents are ready. The total cost will be 500 credits.

Aya shrugs. Truth be told, she had expected Non to go & help the crew, but there was plenty more she could do with him while she had him. Sending a call down to the Royal Hangers, she had her personal transport prepped to return to the Mondder Spaceport. -Aya Well, is that is the case, I will provide a ride for our guest back to her crew. Non, I will return in a moment. Don't touch anything that might kill you. Leaving that fairly vague warning, without bothering to point out which of of the fairly innocent looking things might be the items in question, Aya leads Riso back to the entrance of the vaulted area that served as Royal Level. Waiting outside the door was a mando. Obviously not one of ever trailing hulks in red, this appeared to be a rather normal member of the clan. Breezing briefly to attention at the sight of Aya, the figure nods at Riso. NCO snorted, as if she wouldn't enjoy the challenge of stitching him back together, but made no comment. He gave Sin a nod in farwell, fully expecting to meet up with her and the crew again within the next few hours. Fate had other plans, but those have yet to unfold for NCO.

After seeing her other guest off, Aya returned to her suite. It only took a few minutes for her to check over the test data & finish up everything. However, since he was on hand, there were several other things she had been thinking about.
-Aya Right, all done. While you are here however, I was wondering if I might bend your ear with a few things.

Well they are rather flexible, these ears of mine, if bending them suits your fancy I suppose I can tolerate the ... oddity of your request, this time.
I speak in a slightly baffled and innocent voice, but can't hold the straight face long. After finishing my spiel, I break into a grin and wink at Aya; inclining my head and gesturing for her to continue. Most sane individuals wouldn't antagonize the most powerful being on the planet... but I can't remember the last time I was afflicted with that terrible disease, so I just enjoy myself as per usual.

Aya smiles a completely guileless smile for a few moments, then reaches out & takes a firm grip of one ear. It was a grip that, if tightened, could leave dents in metal. Still keeping the same smile on her face, Aya led the way out of the lab & into her sitting room. Like the hallway & other rooms, it was tiled in worn, pebbled stone. Several benches were scattered around the smallish room, most were carved from single stones of one type or another, but a few had cushions for those seeking a softer place to rest. Without pressing the point, she released his ear. After a moment she picked a bench of a purple marble.
-Aya You know that I am more or less controlling the companies & the Clan while father is on vacation. You probably aren't aware yet that he intends to abdicate. From my understanding, he intends to pass leadership down to me. Would you contest the decision if that is what he decided?

I sigh in mock exasperation as Aya drags me into the next room by the ear, but take a seat on something that resembles a coral reef without complaint. I listen carefully while as she speaks, aware the matter at hand, and my decision would change a lot of lives outside this room. I wasn't officially aware that Buir intended to abdicate, though the news wasn't a particular surprise to me either, as the man wasn't really the sort to let others do his work for him. I had thought the knews of him taking vacation rather odd, but now it made sense. I consider the question carefully... not because I wanted the job, but because I wanted to explore the casue/effects of each choice, before making my choice.
Should I? Would it cement your position any better? I certainly have no fondness for running the clan, based solely on my past attendance to such matters. Any Or'dinii can see that much. Plus it's wouldn't be a fair fight, you fight too dirty.
I can't quite resist teasing Aya with my last line, but the preceding lines were more serious. Most would have simply said yes or no, but ... well, or'dinii aren't or'dinii for nothing.

She nods as he speaks. She had doubted he would just throw all in one way or the other at the drop of the hat & he did raise good points.
-Aya That is up to you. The important part is the precedent this will set for our Clan. There are three outcomes. You could go along with it. You could contest & win. Or you could contest & fail. If you contested, it would most likely be against father, not me.
Aya pauses for a moment to let that sink in before she spells out what the likely outcome of each action would be.
-Aya If you went along with it, it would set a firm foundation that the inheritance of the clan is based on the judgement of the current ruler instead of how good a fighter the potential candidates are. On the down side, it could easily be passed down to someone unfit for leadership with no possible correction. If you win in the challenge, the clan would follow you, but it opens the possibility of someone unfit taking the leadership by force later on. A failed challenge might even be worse. Unless you made it clear that everyone should follow the victor, it could even lead to a civil war. Again, it would open the chance for someone to take leadership by force.
That was, of course, her worse case estimations, but she found it often paid to be pessimistic when planning.
-Aya You could also challenge him privately on the subject & attempt to change his mind. Either to yourself or another candidate. But for the moment, only the two of us are available.

Meh, if I don't challenge it set's the precedence that each aliit is expected to train and raise a competent heir... which Buir has, and you will. Beyond that, I don't think anything we plan for will be worth expending effort for, as neither of us can see that far down the line. That said.... challenging buir is significantly less appealing than challenging you so he's kinda the reason either of us is here. I've never even heard of anyone besting him before, though that one pirate really did annoy him and Marcos has a knack for pissing him off, I can't say that anyone's ever come close to besting him. Which leaves me with not challenging, or challenging and losing. Losing sucks, you can have it.

Aya couldn't help but laugh at that, despite the seriousness of the conversation.
-Aya I doubt he would kill you over a challenge, but all the same, thank you for the compliment.
With that settled, she could move onto the second thing she had been hoping to talk over.
-Aya I'm thinking about nationalizing all the various businesses & companies. Rolling everything, Starfire Security included, into one unified government for the clan. The three part system was supposed to keep everything balanced, but I don't think it has worked as planned. There was too much fighting between branches instead of working together.

NCO considered her response and shrugged a shoulder, buckets would bicker regardless of how they were organized, but a central system should help streamline everything and reduce the bickering somewhat. It was worth a shot at least, since it wouldn't change anything practically speaking. He considered the consequences a few moments, just to be sure, but then nodded his head as he spoke.
That won't keep the buckets from bickering, but it should reduce the volume of bickering and the damage caused by it. Let's do it. Do you need anything from me?

-Aya Mostly your public support. But I could use a hand to see if there is anything missing from the layout of the panels. I'm thinking six major divisions: Aliit, Gotal'ur, Kar'tayl, Sur'ar Skanah, Vode, & Waadas.
She went on to explain her plans for each panel.
Aliit would be the organization that handles any interactions with groups outside the Clan. Anyone from local planetary governments all the way up to massive factions would be handled by some part of the panel.
Gotal'ur would be in charge of the infrastructure & production of the Clan. Everything from power plants & factories to hyperlanes & maintenance would be taken care of by this panel.
Kar'tayl would handle the sciences. Education, communications, research, data analysis & many more subjects would be its domain.
Sur'ar Skanah would be the military arm of the Clan. Both its sword & its shield
Vode would primarily deal with members of the Clan. From recruitment programs, Medical care & even the legal system would be handled by them.
Finally, Waadas would be the financial panel of the clan. It would be in charge of both raising money & how it would be used.

Organization is not my strong suit; I prefer cooking toxins and antidotes and rather frequently using the former and infrequently using the latter. I see no faults, and will gladly offer my support. Should we make this announcement publicly, privately, and should it be made here or an Mandalore?

This was why Aya liked talking things over with Non, he tended to ask the questions that needed to be answered. She shifted slightly in her seat & looked out of the large window set into one wall. In truth the window was actually a very high resolution holoscreen feeding from the exterior of the Citadel tower, but it was still a nice view.
-Aya We will keep it private at first. The upper ranks & anyone else needed to help get everything prepared so that the shift goes smoothly will be informed. But the general announcement & actual change will have to wait until I am formally in command. As for where to hold the conference, few enough of our clan are on the holy world, so there is little enough reason to hold it there rather than the Citadel. This is our seat of power after all.

I nod my head, in acknowledgement of her points, all good. Though I did have one observation on the location of the announcement.
Announcing it here, will cause rumors of abandoning the other vode to abound. Regardless of the accuracy of those rumors, they will need to be dealt with formally. That aside, this will simplify things greatly, though it will also bring it's own unique challenges. Are you ready for this change, personally?

Aya nods & thinks about it for a few moments.
-Aya We can mitigate that in part with a joint announcement to the effect of a crusade to find the lost helm. That & possible an outreach program to the other clans should do nicely. As for the other challenges, we can only wait to see if I am as ready as I think I am.
