"Yeah, a bit..."
Aldross regarded the zabrak with a raised eyebrow. It was strange for him to see a doctor in full armor, but he didn't want to seem rude for staring. He looked around the room again and noticed the door from whence the doctor came. There was a slight twinge in Aldross' stomach that compelled him to seek more answers from this man, only he didn't have the right questions. He scratched the back of his head and regarded the doctor once more.
"I'm curious... what's a doctor like yourself doing in armor like that? Is this place that dangerous?"
Aldross then remembered his things: a simple pair of linen trousers, a black robe, and small moccasins made by his mother. He wanted to ask about his lightsaber heirloom, but he wasn't sure how to bring it up.
"And my affects? What did you do with my stuff? I-I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound ungrateful, I'm just... paranoid..."

Dr. Houn chucked at the first two questions.
-Houn No, it isn't dangerous here. At least no more than any core world hospital would be. The armor is cultural. I am a Mandalorian, as is the rest of the staff here. I know most of the core worlds view all of us as ravenous barbarians, but we are just as civilized, if not it quiet the same way. Everyone needs a doctor sooner or later after all.
He returned to a more business like tone once that point had been cleared up.
-Houn Your effects will be returned to you shortly. We didn't want them to get damaged in the surgery room. Or at least not more damaged than they already were. Your weapons on the other hand will be returned to you once you are checked out. You aren't the only one allowed to be paranoid. On the subject of weapons. One of your personal effects was a lightsabre. You wouldn't mind telling me why you might happen to be visiting Etti IV, would you?

Aldross sighed long and hard. Here was the business talk that he didn't really want any part in. He just wanted to take his ship and leave... yet something was pulling him here, though he wasn't sure what. He looked over at the zabrak, this time with confusion evident in his eyes.
"To be honest... I have no clue why I'm here, I just know that I need to be. And that lightsaber? It's not what you think - I'm no Jedi. It's a gift from my father, and I would like it back as soon as possible."
The young man gave a slight moan as he looked back down at his left arm. It was starting to feel worse, and much more painful... yet still he would have to deal with it, for now; his pride didn't let him ask for help.
"I'm sorry... I lost my father a long time ago, and that lightsaber is all I have left of him... just let me sign what I have to sign to get it back - please..."

Houn didn't really believe that, but individuals strong in the force often reported having urges to go to specific places or do certain things without being sure why, so it wasn't unheard of. Of course all this was being recorded, & would likely be reviewed later by others.
-Houn For the moment, you will have to wait. I promise no harm will come to it. For the moment it is in the secure lockers. Moving on to other somewhat important topics, you may have noticed part of your arm happens to be missing. As you are already in a medical facility, we have a number of options on treatment. The sooner it is done the quicker you will be back on your feet.
Houn pulled up a list of the things that the clan could do for missing limbs. The most normal of the options was a cybernetic replacement. Ranging from extremely basic & rugged to extremely powerful military grade hardware. Of course, as he wasn't a member of the Clan, he couldn't pick a fair number of the more interesting options. The next in terms of acceptance was growing a clone arm based on his own DNA. It would be more or less exactly like the original one, though it would take a while to build up the muscles in it. The most exotic of the options was the possibility of grafting a nonstandard limb to the stump. Genetically, it would be grown from the subject's DNA like the normal arm. However, the assembly of the tissues would be in a more exotic shape. Any number of animal or alien limbs could be recreated in this manner, As well as personalized choices. Though with the unusual limb it would often take a few years at least before the limb could be used proficiently.

Aldross looked over the list of options available to him - if they were going to fix him arm, he wasn't going to say no. He tried to be more practical in his approach, but some of these options almost excited him at the possibilities; a number of them wouldn't even be listed to the public in republic space. Still, all the young man really wanted was to be fixed up and get his things back, and find out whatever it was that called him here.
"Alright, let's see... I'll take this one."
Aldross leaned over with his right arm and pointed over to what looked like a normal human hand made of pure metal and carbon-fiber. It was a cybernetic arm that would graft itself on at the elbow; he could still retain all of his dexterity, and maybe even use it as a quick way to parry a vibrosword. That idea alone was exciting enough to help Aldross forget about some of his pain. He was even more curious as to why someone like this fully-armored doctor would even be willing to help him in the first place.
"Say... when this is all over..."
Aldross thought more about what he was going to say next. Maybe, just maybe, whatever brought him here was the need for a new start - a fresh start. Even were it not the case, then he might at least be able to pay these people back somehow... but for now, he decided it was best not to immediately involve himself. He would give them time to see that he wasn't as weak as he was when he came in.
"Nevermind. I'll take this cybernetic arm... and thank you - for saving my life."
Aldross bowed his head respectfully, yet still kept his eyes on Houn. He wanted to be respectful, sure, yet he had already shown these people enough weakness - he wasn't about to show any more.

Houn looked over the choice. It wasn't too fancy & was more or less consistent with core worlds ideology.
-Houn Not a bad pick. It is going to take a few months for you to adapt to the new limb. Also you will need to learn some basic maintenance skills, or become really good friends with a mechanic.
Houn took a few minutes to go over the specific details of the surgery & maintenance requirements with the man.
-Houn Now, I hate to bring this up, but this isn't exactly a charity organization. There is the subject of payment for the surgery you already had, & the new arm.

Aldross looked down at his lap. There was no way that these people would accept his credits, not that he had enough of them to begin with. He swallowed hard before he spoke again.
"Well... what did you have in mind? I have credits, but... something tells me you guys don't take credits..."
The young man thought hard about how he was going to reply next; this limb that he would be getting would mean the difference between an easier, more fulfilling life and that of a horribly difficult one. He cleared his throat.
"I could work for you, until my debt is paid off - with a cybernetic limb, I would be of great help... and..."
Aldross sighed hard - it wasn't the best pitch, but it would save his life indefinitely - aside from the fact that there was something gnawing inside of him that begged him to stay on this planet. He would have to relent a lot of his freedoms, that much he knew - perhaps even relearn how to live among these people. He also felt that he owed this man in particular a great boon.
"Alright, look - I don't know how else to say this, but... but I want to help you, and I think that with my help, I can pay you and your people back ten fold. I'm not one for begging, so I won't... but I will ask nicely... Please, sir, let me offer you my service to pay you back."

Houn let out a sigh. True enough, most republic credits were worthless by this point, & the individual planetary credits were rarely good outside of the sector the planet was in. On the other hand, the MMC did have a fairly wide reach.
-Houn If they are coruscant credits, we can take them, but the exchange rate out this far isn't too favorable. As for working off the rest of your debt, there is a credit agency that generally handles all of that. Considering all that, you still want to do the cybernetics surgery?

Aldross let off a long, heavy sigh of relief. He gave the Mandalorian doctor a curt nod and held up his nub of a left arm in approval.
"Do whatever it takes to get me patched up doctor."
Aldross then lay back down in the bed, a wave of relief spreading over him. He would have a working left hand again and a reason to stick around - this was more than what he could have hoped for. A small smirk peeked out from the corner of his mouth as he closed his eyes and allowed himself to relax.
"And... thank you..."

The next few hours were mostly spent getting ready for the next surgery & having the arm fabricated at one of the nearby MMC shops & shipped into the medical facility. The operation itself was not very complex & took less than hour. At the end of it the man had a new metal forearm & hand. While basic movements & motion would be simple enough as the body still has used to having an arm there, the fine motor control would take a while to zero in as the connections healed fully.
With that surgery done, the man's effects were returned, with the exception of the weapons he had been carrying. After a quick check up to make sure he was well enough to be discharged, he was released into the custody of a pair of Starfire Security Officers. Like the doctors, these two also wore armor, however their armor lacked the purple highlights or panels common to the doctors' armor. SS was yet another company that made up the vast conglomerate of MandalMine Collective. His remaining effects were placed in a locked case that one of the officers was carrying. From there is was a short ride through the massive halls of the spaceport hub to the nearby office of Gold Standard Consulting, the financial subsidiary of MMC. After a short wait, he was sitting in front of yet another armored figure.
-Clerk Mr. Umarov. The cost for the prosthetic arm, along with the two surgeries comes to a total of 30,000 credits. According to the file that has been passed on from the medical office, you lack the funds to pay this amount. Since that is the case you have two real choices. The first is you could effectively take out a loan for the amount. There would be an interest rate & you would not be able to leave the system without going into immediate forfeit. However, you would be free to pursue any form of employment you would like in earning the money to repay the loan.
The man takes a moment to work on his datapad for a moment, allowing Aldross time to think.
-Clerk The second option is to sign a work agreement with MMC. You would not have to worry about an interest rate & you would earn the money back at a better rate than most forms of independent employment. You would also be much more free to travel around, within the scope of your work detail. You would effectively be hired at one of the companies that make up the MandalMine Collective. Instead of a paycheck you will be given a small but reasonable living allowance & the rest of your pay will be credited to your debt. Once the debt is paid, you can chose to either remain with the company & start receiving full pay, or quit with a good recommendation to a company or group of your choice.

Aldross sighed heavily. 30,000 credits was no small fee, and would take him a long time to pay off by himself. If he took the loan, the interest alone would be enough to trap him on Etti IV for a very long time. If he took the work agreement, he would have a limited range of what he could do there. He needed more time to deliberate what he was to do about his current dilemma... or maybe not.
"Which option allows me to have my lightsaber back? It's not for protection - it's sentimental. Go ahead and test it; it doesn't even work... well, at least I couldn't get it to work."
For what it was worth, Aldross wasn't lying. He wasn't able to get the lightsaber to work at all... but that was before he started to hear that echo before his first surgery, and that same echo was starting to resonate within his subconscious once again. Something told him to sign the contract with MMC, and this feeling he had was usually always right.
"Forget I asked. I'll take the second option: I'll work with MMC."

The clerk gave him a long look, or at least it seemed that way as Umarov wouldn't be able to see his face.
-Clerk Either choice. You other effects will be returned to you once you are no longer on MMC property. However, since you wish to work with MMC, you will need to take a test to assess your level of skill in various fields. This will allow us to determine what positions you are qualified to handle. Once you have completed the test & it is checked, your preferences will be taken into consideration. Are you prepared to take the test now or do you need more time to rest. I am aware you were just released from surgery.

Aldross waved at the man upon his mention of surgery. He wasn't too keen on the weakness he'd shown before - now it was time to show his strengths.
"I'll take the test immediately."
The young man straightened up confidently towards the clerk, regarding him with a serious look. If Aldross was going to prove himself among these people, he wouldn't be able to leave any room for doubt. That, and for some reason, that resonating echo that Aldross could hear seemed to give him an uncanny luck, if nothing else. He could feel his fatigue slowly leave him as he listened to that echo. It became less distant as he listened for it... he was ready.
"If I'm going to be of use to you guys, then I'd better start right away."

The clerk looked over the man. Sure enough, he looked willing to get to work. On the other hand, he had also just had his arm mangled off & had a pair of multi-hour surgeries back to back.
-Clerk On second thought, we will scheduled the tests for tomorrow. They usually take several hours & it is already somewhat late. Also, you could use the rest. Willing or not, you are no use if you work yourself to death. One night will not make a difference either way, & it will mean you are fresh for the tests.

Aldross sighed in mild annoyance. He was eager to begin, yet he wasn't about to oppose the man that literally stood between himself and freedom. The young man had been through a lot, and he was a bit famished from the whole ordeal.
"Alright, tomorrow then. I suppose it's pretty late."
An audible growl could be heard from the pit of Aldross' stomach. It was a clear indicator of his hunger, yet he was in no position to go pleading for a meal. Still, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to ask.
"Is there any way I could get something to eat...? If not, I'll be fine until morning..."

The clerk checked his datapad yet again. The thing was more or less glued to his hand.
-Clerk Of course. The MMC prides itself on treating its employees well. You will be put up in a local hotel for the night. The cost, including room service, will be covered, as you don't have the allowance account set up yet. & no, it will not be added to what you already owe. After that we will get you temporarily set up in one the workers quarters buildings here in the city. Your final housing situation will depend on what your job will be working.

Aldross looked over his metal hand, studying its complexities as the clerk spoke to him. He wiggled his fingers a bit to test out their level of dexterity and motion. Aldross gave an open grin - he wasn't sure how, but he knew he was going to fit in just fine here. He looked over at the Clerk and bowed respectfully as he was lead off to his hotel room.
"Thank you for everything, sir - I really appreciate what you guys have done for me. Listen, I know it's not much, but..."
The young man then pulled out a small slip of paper and handed it over to the Clerk. It was a letter to Houn, the doctor responsible for giving Aldross his second chance at life. The letter wasn't anything fancy - just another thank you to the doctor, along with a promise to come to his aide the moment he would ever have need of it. Aldross wasn't one for begging, so "thank-you" notes aren't much of a strength. Still, he wanted to show his appreciation some way, so he made the doctor a promise to stay of Etti and use his arm for the good of the doctor's people.
"It's a letter, to the doctor. If you could deliver it for me, I would owe you one... besides the 30,000 that I still owe you..."
Aldross then favored the clerk with another bow; it was at this time the pair were interrupted by a hotel concierge. The worker brought a delicious-smelling plate full of more advanced Mandalorian cuisine. The young human smiled and took the plate graciously, setting it down upon a sizable table in the hotel room.
"Wow, this looks good. Yeah - I could definitely get used to working here..."
At this, Aldross allowed himself to relax. He rubbed his right hand over the joints that connected his new left arm to the bit of old - he felt sore. It was a long, exhausting day, and it was getting later by the second. He respectfully put his guests out and made short work of his food. With a good stretch and a yawn, Aldross found one delightfully comfortable king-sized bed. He threw himself down on the bed and bounced a bit from the impact - this day couldn't have been more reconstructive, not only to his body, but also his morale. Aldross was ready to pay these people back, and for once, he would do so happily... in time, the young man might even consider these people likened to his own - a family of sorts. He closed his eyes and smirked at the thought of himself in Mandalorian battle armor, slowly letting the darkness of sleep overtake him. It wouldn't be long at all before his own imaginings would come to fruition.
Despite the general good-feeling of the whole of this day, Aldross couldn't help but feel that something was off - this was going too well for him, and it couldn't all be from coincidence. Was there someone higher up pulling the strings on him? If there was, why? And what was that familiar echo, now growing more powerfully resonant as the man slept? Perhaps he might never know of it... yet for now, he was content to let himself sleep.

The hotel hadn't been far from the financial office. Once the clerk had gotten Umarov checked in & made sure he was good, he headed toward his own quarters. He did, however, take a moment to scan the document & forward it to the doctor in question. The hotel was one that was currently hosting several people that would be going in for their tests shortly. Usually, the wait was a few days at most, either once enough recruits had been gathered, or at the end of every week otherwise.
It wasn't long before the man was herded onto a bus with about 40 other figures. After a short ride they were let out at a large complex just beyond the outskirts of the town. After another short delay, the recruits were lined up & processed.
-Instructor All right. This is going to be very simple. You will all be taking an rather extensive battery of tests. They will range from General & specialist knowledge to physical, as well as several aptitude tests. The first half of the day will mostly be knowledge & information tests. You will proceed at your own pace. Once you complete each test, the next will pop up. Once you finish with those, you will be dismissed for food. Once you have eaten & rested you will move on to the physical tests. Very well, let's get under way.
True enough, the first room they were shown was mostly a block of what looked like small study cubicles, with drones floating overhead & fixed holofeeds watching each work area. Each recruit was seated in a box & the tests began. The tests began simple & got progressively harder as it progressed, once a subject was finished the system would automatically bump them to the next subject. Of course if you did too badly for too long, the test would also bump you to the next subject.

Aldross took a seat in one of the test cubicles. He sighed and shrugged his shoulders at the simplicity of some of his first questions. As he went on with his test at an above average pace, he was somewhat relieved to find that the test progressed into more adept problem solving. If there was one thing only in which Aldross excelled, it was problem solving, both mathematical and situational. The speed and precision that Aldross made during his written exams was uncanny - it was almost as if the test was designed specifically for him alone to finish at an accelerated pace. He completely aced both the mathematics and galactic basic questions, and made leaps and bounds above most other recruits in terms of more mechanical fields such as ship repair and weapon maintenance. When Aldross got up to inform the Instructor that he'd finished his whole written exam in less than an hour, he was almost shocked that none other than himself was completely done.
"Um... sir? I'm finished. You can check the discs at my station - everything has been answered thoroughly... is no one else done...?"
Aldross didn't need an answer to his last question; it was clear that some of these recruits weren't cut out for much, yet he at least expected one other to be on his level. He scanned the crowd and found that literally only one other recruit got up to finish. The rest of them weren't even half done with their tests... and that's when Aldross realized that neither was he. It was a much more simple version of the real test that he aced - the real test that he had yet to start. He continued his work and ignored his own outburst, setting about answering FAR more difficult problems than before. He was starting to answer a few here and there incorrectly, but over-all his pace was still on point and made him look exceptionally smart. His biggest anxiety over the test wasn't even this written portion; hand-to-hand combat had never been his strong suit, unless he had a melee weapon of some sort. His marksmanship wasn't too bad, but he was definitely more skilled with a vibroblade than a pistol, despite the regulation heavy blaster pistol that he carried on him - just in case he was ever in a bad spot and too far away to get a hit in edge-wise. With a renewed vigor, Aldross attacked the seemingly ever-ending bombardment of highly advanced material, answering to the best of his abilities. He was no genius, yet he knew a fair bit more than any of these recruits, with a few exceptions. Aldross was confident that he would impress at least somebody today, and he wouldn't stop until he did.

--12 Hours Earlier--
I slowly maneuver the Jehavey'ir down to the spaceport hub, as I land I see a bunch of confused men and women standing outside the ship each armed with at least a decent blaster rifle.
What in the hell is going on?
The Jehavey'ir slowed to a halt, and I lock the ships control system to make sure nobody tries to take it. Then, I stood up and slowly walked to the ships door.
Njogarroec was a very short and buff type person, nobody usually wanted to mess with him. He had a large scar on his face after he went face to face with a Sith Lord. He was a rather funny guy. Everyone who met him usually liked him but most of the time they were scared of him because of his scar on his face, so he didn't have that many friends. That's why he doesn't usually take off his helmet, only when he goes to sleep he takes it off. As for his Jehavey'ir, it wasn't a Jehavey'ir-type assault ship, that was just the name of it, it was really a Meteor-class Q-Carrier, a rather small ship, which was fit for the pilot and maybe a few of the companions. The carrier had white for the main color, and a deep maroon red for the secondary color. He had picked the name so he can confuse whoever he meets, they would expect a Jehavey'ir-type assault ship, so they would be waiting for a capital ship, which then would allow him to easily slip through into enemy territory.
I stepped out of my ship, showing them my hands so they knew I wasn't carrying any weapons, and then preceded to asking them the following question.
-Njogarroec "Can you guys please help me find my way to the Clan D'Ordinii main base? I'm afraid I don't know the way. Also, I left the ship doors open so you can search it, the only weapon I have in there is my blaster, please don't do anything to it, its worth a lot to me."
The ESPO Officer gave Axiatinc directions to the Clan D'Ordinii main base.
Then, I was on my way to the Clan D'Ordinii main base.
