Perhaps we could update the twitter so that it points to the correct site? It still says jedivsith.com.

Takes sip of coffee.I was thinking about a few websites that might help new players aid in creating a character (species/name/occupation/etc.), and I found this list might be helpful. Maybe adding it to the "How-to Guide" of "Creating a Character/Editing a Profile" thread would be helpful.

I would assume, and I know this is possible a bit redundant now, that the "Plans" you're referring to will soon be back in our... wait. No. Try again... "Plans" you're referring to would involved the setting up of an archive of the data on the Jedivsith.com site? Can we get a whoop whoop eta on that, Chilly?
I love "How to" guides and have partaken in them before. There have been ones for new writers and ones in the GBA. There was also people who stepped up to aid newcomers in their writing, profile building, site etiquette etc etc. Even though people try to be welcoming in chat not every newcomer goes in there and a thread where advice could be given, perhaps with the link to said thread at the end of the the Welcome to JvS, or the Rules and Regs, could be beneficial.

Correct, the archive site is one major phase of my plans for the jedivsith.com domain. I actually thought it would be up this week, but there's a small technical issue with the database that's put the project on hold for the moment.

"In the database, database, I'm struggling in the database, wow wow..."
... I regret nothing, even though a very tiny percentage of the site (if any) will get that reference.

I know this isn't a major issue but it's one that could be fixed with a click of a button. When writers find a new role play site don't their eyes usually look at how many people are currently online?. Now I understand that some people here would prefer to keep themselves under the radar, but the more names that show up in the 'Users Online' section, the more attractive a site is.
It gives them the idea that this must be an active site even if people aren't currently writing IC, this is more of choice for each and every individual on this site. I don't know how many of us do this but the more the merrier i guess? *shrug*

This is a good point. There are legitimate reasons for wanting to be invisible, but you should weigh all the factors if you use that feature. Just for point of reference, there are currently 19 accounts who have logged in as invisible during the last 24 hours.

This was mentioned in the 'Future of the PGC' thread...
Could there be big, bold 'I need a Moderator' or 'I need advice' buttons on the home page, that would send PM requests to Councilors on a rotating basis? This would serve to help direct Councilors' attention to hot-spots that they might not otherwise know about, and assist new gamers on points of clarity and rules.

I believe PMs are a bad model for handling requests efficiently, anyway. Neither the person sending the PM nor the website itself has any way to know which Councilor or Whill will log in next. Posting issues to the correct help forum make the request visible to all, with less maintenance, and the user will get a response sooner, on average. :^)

Is there the possibility of adding a "Hide" tab into the post coding.
for hiding spoiler information and the sort?

i need a little assistance i have been with this rp jvs since it was just on face book now i got a life and i dont have the time i use but i still wanna be able to rp and continue my story, many of the other people i rp with are in the same boat college days are over, currently their is a group who want to govern the planet we been on since 1.0 and according to the rules its theirs already and i have no problem with that but they want to archive our base which has always been hidden to hard line us off the planet completely and i have a problem with that why cant i continue to rp on the planet in my own place its a whole planet and just change my location why do they have total control over the whole planets rp i thought u only could own the cities , is their any middle ground for us who have been with yall for a long time but dont have the free time we use to, can we still continue to be apart of the community?

Hi Windu, whilst this perhaps may have been a better query directed to the RP Advisors area, so that more of my fellow Advisors may have taken note of the situation, I see no reason that I can't help provide you an answer here. I will start by saying, that indeed the days of school/study are now well behind many of us, and life does tend to get in the way for some of us more than others, and thus it is something we always do our best to take into account. Obviously, yes, as you have pointed out, the rules do state that a certain amount of RP presence is required to maintain control of a location, and an inability to do so over increasing amounts of time does mean the location can be more easily taken over by a new force. With that said, it is the prerogative of the controlling force of a location to decide whether they want to ask for a location to be archived based on a number of criteria (usually if they don't believe they'll use said location, or its use is extremely sporadic). And yes, the rules do state that you can't control an entire planet, even if you control all of the cities/locations on said planet, there is still places like open terrain that are open for anyone to RP on. However, that said, there is a couple of points that need to be noted: - First and foremost is, what makes sense for the story? whilst it is true multiple groups can control different locations on one planet, you have to ask if it make sense that those different groups would be able to coexist IC?
- Whilst the rules do not allow people to control open terrain, it does not expressly forbid a group from legitimately acquiring knowledge of a forces location and harassing them if it makes sense IC that they would do that. Which kind of links back into the first point.
Going off the current situation, as best I can understand it, the Jedi are currently invading Kashyyyk to get rid of the Sith there. So, the things to consider in the situation are: could the Jedi and Sith come to some peaceable agreement? or would one side constantly be seeking to remove the control the other side had on another particular location? Would the Jedi have the resources to find your base even if you move it? would it make for a good story if Kashyyyk was liberated by the Jedi? how could you make this something that progresses your story? Could your people escape, then build up their forces and retake the place? There is always a middle ground to be found, and no one is stopping you from still RPing on JvS and being apart of the community. However, as a part of the community, you will come to situations like these, and you need to decide if you can make this benefit your character whilst also benefitting the community as a whole. Think about it from this angle, Windu has had the seat of his power taken from him by the filthy Jedi, and in that moment, he realizes that he has become complacent in his rule, and his power has diminished because of it. He takes a moment to think about it, and decides that if he wants to reassert his power, he needs to train, he needs to become stronger, so that he can go back there and punch some punk ass Jedi in the nose for thinking he could best Windu. Then, Windu can build a new hidden base, to reflect a new chapter in his story and prove his new dominance, since the old base would act as little more than a reminder of his weakness, or, you could always get the base unarchived at a later date and rebuild the place brick for brick as it once was. Again, don't view this as people trying to force you out of the community, because then that is what it will be. Instead, view it as an opportunity to expand your writing to a new place, as a chance to make new friends and allies.

Hi glorious ones, not sure if any of you saw this post in a poll I put together, but: boards.jedivsith.com/post/89001/thread Just thought I'd bring your guys attention to this post, mostly because it is something I have heard a few people mention would be a nice change (specifically, naming the open orbit and open terrain threads a little more specifically). cheers,
