At the end of the day, what word they used did not overly concern Nytherias. At the end of the day, the result would and should be the same: a distinct lack of fighting between them. He gave a shallow nod of his head at the suggestion of calling it a Non-Aggression PactIf such a term is more agreeable to you, then so be it. The borders of Chiss space have been well established for many generations. So I suspect you'll be able to easily delineate where to avoid.... Nytherias produced a blank, freshly prepared Questis and held it forth for the data transfer to be completed. The device lacked any ability to connect into Chiss networks, with similar such devices being used in any interaction with outside races. The Chiss had learned to be distrustful of any digital package provided to them, lest a foreign power attempt to hack their systems once moreYour people have a tendency toward war, it has been built into your nature for several generations. The Yuuzhan Vong are quite well known for their nigh undefeatable warriors. No.. It is not your word I distrust, it is your people's predisposition toward war and destruction that I worry will win out... With the data transferred, he handed the device to Riwaza, so that she might review it and learn from itYou have a long and hard path ahead of you, to achieve the goal you strive for. I do not envy you Nem. It is hard to undo what generations of nurture have beaten into your DNA... We appreciate the candidness and will not interfere in your ventures upon Lehon and Ahch-To.

After the data was transferred, which was mostly a collection of gathered geographical and zoological information, Nem handed his qahsa back to the chazrach who took it into his claws and continued to crouch at his side. His personal assistant seemed to watch the proceeding as though interested, though in truth there wasn't a thought in its head that wasn't a command of the Executor's. Having a conversation with the creature would be like talking to a duracrete wall, only the wall had a better chance of saying something back. Still, the Intendant offered the chazrach an affectionate rub on the head before returning his attention to the two Chiss seated in front of him.
"Thank you." He said, visibly relieved that the Praetorite's efforts on those worlds would not be a problem for the S&S Dominion. He worried somewhat about Nytherias' belief that the violence and bloodshed was written into their very DNA, though if he were honest he had those concerns himself. Personally he thought it more a case of trauma of the psyche. It was only recently that the shaper caste was willing to admit that Void Madness was an actual psychological illness, a small bit of progress to be certain but it did make him optimistic. Even so, there was always the chance that the Chiss was right, that it was written deeply into their blood. "If it would further alleviate any concerns and maintain the peace, any time you feel it necessary to witness our efforts there, it could certainly be arranged for a Chiss investigator to have access to either of those worlds."
So far things had gone rather smoothly, though there was one more issue that weighed on his mind.
"There is another matter I wish to discuss while I still have you, unless there is something you too wish to address while we have this audience with one another. As I stated previously, my people have had contact with the organization known as the First Order. Believe it or not, I used to have significant connections with their predecessor, the Imperial Remnant of the Deep Core. From my conversations with one of their Grand Moffs and even the Emperor himself, it has come to my attention that the Chiss have had some diplomatic relations with them as well." He sucked on his teeth, thinking how best to ask the question without expressing too much of his own opinion on the matter. "I am curious to know your thoughts on them. In your estimation, can they be trusted to honour their word as well? I ask because the Praetorite is entering into diplomatic relations with them and I would not like to be taken the fool. I have been absent these past long years on an errand for my people, so I suppose I worry that there is something maybe I have missed that should be of concern."

Lehon and Ahch-To were both beyond the current borders of the Chiss domain. What ever the Yuuzhan Vong wished to do out there was a problem for another government to deal with, assuming their non-aggression pact withstood the test of time. Nytherias then gave a nod of his head at the suggestion arrangements could be made for the Chiss to have access to these new territories We'll certainly be sure to keep that offer in mind... With their dealings settled formerly for the time being, Nem suddenly turned the topic of conversation to the First Order. It was certainly something of a dangerous topic for either one of them to approach and reveal too much. Given their relatively new friendship, there were many unknown factors at play here. so Nytherias decided to play things cautiously, knowing Nem would be doing the same with how the question was framed Diplomatic relations is certainly one way to describe my people's recent history with the First Order... But I digress. When it comes to the First Order, my opinion is not exactly... political. I'm a military man, whose strategic focus is about keeping what's beyond the borders of this galaxy out there. Governments rise and fall all the time... Each one as trust worthy as the last when it comes to what they promise... So the only advice I can offer is to be wary. Tactically it serves the First Order to retain a loose alliance with the Chiss people. Which proves good for us in returning our people to their native home world. But the moment that tactical advantage ceases to prove useful, that alliance will cease to exist. It's the nature of all governments... But I do not believe them any more duplicitous than any other government that reigns at this time or has reigned before. You would do well to trust only yourself and your people, Nem...

There was a large segment of the Yuuzhan Vong population that would have agreed with Nytherias' statement on trusting only in oneself and ones own people. If he was honest with himself that was probably what almost all of his people believed. Yet for Nem who had lived among the infidel races, broke bread with them and saw the measure of their hearts, it was hard to reconcile. What he wanted for his people was not something that could be accomplished on their own, it would require help and the involvement of many that were as alien to his people as the Chiss were to the Yuuzhan Vong. Despite the seemingly insurmountable odds, he had faith it could be done, an admittedly odd sentiment for one that claimed to be an atheist. Only for what he believed it wasn't religious faith in the Yun'o that was required, but rather faith in the willingness of others to do good. He knew they were out there, having met many over the years that would fit that description. The galaxy might be dark and full of terrors, however, it was also filled with beings willing to do what was right. He had to believe that or else all was lost.
"I understand and appreciate the advice, Nytherias." He replied earnestly. "Truth be told I had similar feelings about the First Order. Making initial contact with them I was concerned that I was perhaps poking a sleeping voxyn, but I also saw the potential of what an alliance might bring. Their Emperor made promise to allowing my people to establish ourselves on several of their territories, which is essential if I am to rebuild our population and eventually integrate the Yuuzhan Vong into galactic society. I don't think it would be possible without falling under the umbrella of their protection." His mqaaq'it darkened. "We've made too many enemies, so many mistakes." He shook his head sadly.
Enough of that Nem, old chum, stop beating yourself up over it.
"Alright, enough gloominess from me. I won't take up any more of your time, unless you had any concerns that would be opportune to address at this time before we conclude."

Nytherias offered a polite nod of his head in response to Nem. It was true that the First Order was the largest emerging power and an alliance with them would prove fruitful for the Yuuzhan Vong. It was also true that its Emperor was a strange man of whimsy. The Chiss Field Marshal had studied and done his best to understand the motives and actions of the First Order, should they ever deign to return to Chiss Space. Nytherias did not intend to let his people be invaded and enslaved once more to an outsider. The Imperials could believe what they liked about the boons they brought and how great they were. But their presence and views had been nothing but a cancerous growth. Thoughts that Nytherias kept to himself and betrayed little of, if anything as he continued t sit opposite the Yuuzhan Vong None at this time. It was a pleasure meeting with you Nem Yin. Good luck in your endeavours...

Slowly Nem rose from his seat and stepped to the side, crossing an arm over his chest and bending at the waist to offer a polite farewell bow to the representative of the Chiss.
"And yours as well, Nytherias. Farewell."
The Executor gave his chazrach a little prod with his toe and the creature took the hint and began hobbling back towards the yorik-trema they arrived on. Within a few moments time the organic shuttle was prepped for takeover, retracting its landing legs back into its ablative coating and rising on wings of gravity. The living craft soon exited the atmosphere and headed for the frigate it arrived on.

Some time after the Executor had left, Riwaza looked back to Nytherias Nuruodo [RETIRED] innocently. There wasn't really much she had to add up during the meeting and neither was there any reason to speak up from her point of view - so far the Field Marshall had done everything necessary, that was important. Yet she was somewhat fascinated by the Vong, that had visited them. To hear him talk was basically what one would in general expect from a regular citizen of the galaxy, not from an outside, hostile invader. Their society had probably changed as much over the years as the one of the Chiss, she noted to herself. To some degree fascinating. "Shame, really would have liked to test out Plan C", she noted with a slight grin, while she read some notes, she had made during the meeting, including some of the data she had read, "I have modified prior to the meeting the speakers in the conference room, so that a bass-boosted version of Max Rebo's Jedi Rock's would be played with a click on my remote. Not sure if the Vong get easily irritated by getting their ears blasted away out of a sudden, but the moment of distraction works for most species, resulting perhaps also in quite some hearing damage - luckily I had earplugs ready. And according to my calculations one of our guard platoons would have passed by two corridors away from here, so they would have definitly heard it. Tested it two weeks ago from afar, just to make sure." Innocently she held out the remote as if she wanted to demonstrate this weird thought process of hers, yet it was obvious that she solely did this to mess with the Field Marshal. Though he possibility that she actually modified the soundbox prior to the meeting was definitly a likely possibility as well.

He sat and watched the Executor leave the meeting, taking off in the biological ship that Yuuzhan Vong used to traverse space. He then turned his attention to Riwaza when she finally spoke, describing the preparations she had made for her Plan C escape. He raised an eyebrow Yuuzhan Vong feed off of pain. Their entire existence is about causing discomfort to themselves. I'm unsure subjecting them to horrible music would have done too much... But I guess the bass boosted sound waves may have also damaged some of their biots... He eyed the controller as he rose from his seat, somewhat tempted to go through with her demonstration. If only to see whether she'd actually made the modifications she spoke of. He shook his head then, dismissing the thought. He motioned to the device he had handed her earlier Read the files well, and if you require access to any information our Archives have on the Yuuzhan Vong, you will have it on my authority. We'll need to keep an eye on them, and you're the only person I'd trust to send. Unless you have any reservations or objections?

She shook her head, so far not showing any emotions of disagreement. "Oh, certainly will do", she noted calm, while reaching out with her mind, "If it interests you, there's only a 3% chance on my way to the library that I might die. My foresight abilities tell me that someone is cleaning the floor, so I'll take my time until I go."Studying the device, she read through the Vong's files. "Interesting... Never have heard before about this 'Ahch-To' planet", she stated, somewhat fascinated, "Those dossiers could proof to be valuable if the rest of your... our society hasn't heard about some of these places either."

Nytherias rose from his seat, standing opposite Riwaza now as she studied the device. He wasn't sure how much valuable data specifically about the Yuuzhan Vong would be on it, but the planetary data would be useful Ahch-To? I heard a Jedi once remark it was a site of one of their first Temples. Somewhere on the edge of the Unknown Regions if memory serves... I trust your judgment in these matters going forward. With Admiral-Laureate Fehlaten'nys'ondrin currently missing, I'll need to take on her duties. Good luck with your studies Investigator...
