*Morgan was relieved to hear they could go and get moving, and Master Gannor's little joke about Lucy offering some insight actually made her smile... but no giggle escaped her lips, humor not having as great an effect at the moment as it normally might. Master Gannor asked the Ithorian—Molan, okay, that was his name, she hadn't been entirely sure—one last thing, and that was how certain he was that the rot was Yuuzhan Vong... without any lines about needing more tests.
While Molan indeed seemed the slightest bit flustered by the demand, he at least seemed incredibly confident that it did indeed belong to the Yuuzhan Vong. He'd even "stake his reputation" on it.
When that was confirmed and they were ready to move on to meet with her daddy, Morgan moved with haste, enduring the decontamination process once more, then, once they were back into the main room, she made to remove her suit, then remembered her lack of dexterity with the oversized outfit... She did her best to feel about for the releases using the Force; certainly it would be easier to take off this way than to put on. Eventually, with enough concentration, she managed to loosen it enough to wriggle free from it, then step out and reclaim her bow and quiver. Once these were around her shoulder once more, she made for the lift, waiting for Master Gannor, and, once they were at the top, led the way to her daddy...*

The "young girl" chuckled.
"I'm workin' on a project."
She had adopted a special manner of speaking when interacting with Gracie, since the other girl seemed a bit more set in her ways than Lana did. It allowed for easier conversation and a friendlier connection between the two beings.
"Should be helpful for lettin' other people see the world the way we do!"
Despite her casual demeanor while speaking, Lana's extremities were still working on refining the interface before her. It was a headband of sorts, though the coding for it wasn't fully finished. She was hoping that it would be fully usable sometime soon, though. She was anxious to get underway with seeing if it actually worked the way she intended.. And the only way she would know if it did was just from user reports. The briefest of frowns crossed her face at the realization that she wouldn't be able to test it herself..

*"Project," that word she knew of course, that's what Daddy always called the things he was working on that weren't finished! She peeked at the device on the desk, some sort of headband. She knew not to touch it, that had been reinforced into her mind time after time by Daddy, even though she really wanted to! But she didn't want to break it either, and it might be cool! Whatever it was. She should let Elly Otu explain it before coming up with ideas.
Except she didn't have any idea what the explanation meant. She stared up at Elly Otu blankly for a few moments, her mind quite literally processing the words for a moment. Then, when she thought she figured it out, she gasped dramatically.* "You mean wike people with wobot bwains?!" *she exclaimed upon realizing the connection. Then she blinked again and tilted her head to the side.* "... does we think diff'went?"

She nodded in answer.
"We do. We think faster. We got faster brains then they do. Natural brains are powerful, but they're slow! I'm makin' this to show people how I think. How we think."
She nodded again, then turned away towards the computer panel next to her. Her fingers moved in a blaze of speed, updating the coding to adapt for her newest refinements to the headband, then pausing, staring off into the distance blankly. A few seconds later, another rapidfire addition of code entered the computer, before she turned back to face the headband and Gracie.
"I'm lookin' to test it soon. Most people are gonna be scared, though. Robot brains are scary fast."
She made no effort to hide the sadness from her face, frowning once again..

*Gracie's eyes went wide as Elly Otu explained that robot brains think faster than regular human ones!* "We does?" *she squeaked excitedly. Then she blinked as she thought about that a moment, trying to remember how fast she could think before Daddy turned her into a robot. Then, realizing she had never paid attention to that little detail, she gave up on that train of thought and listened as Elly Otu explained her project.
Apparently, it would help people see how people with robot brains thought. Gracie still wasn't too sure about the differences, but she'd take Elly Otu's word for it. When she talked about testing it, though, Gracie got excited again.* "Who's ya gonna test it on?! Me?!" *A short pause and a blink, then she looked disappointed,* "Aw, I forgot I had a wobot bwain..."
*Looking back up, she noticed Elly Otu looked sad all the sudden! But why? Face scrunched up in concerned, Gracie tilted her head and asked,* "Why you sad, Elly Otu?"

"Cuz, like you said, you have a robot brain."
She paused a moment before explaining.
"You can't test it, unless you're built to think organically. And even then, it wouldn't do to go messing with that. I doubt your father would approve."
She shook her head, then turned back to the computer panel and muttered to herself.
"I just want Jake to be able to see the world like I do. He seemed eager enough to step into my shoes.."
Lana once again set about typing, though this time around it was much less rapidfire than before.

*Now Elly Otu was speaking more confusing words, something about Gracie being "built to think organically"? Well, maybe she was... But she didn't know! She'd have to ask Daddy, who Elly Otu was certain wouldn't approve of being tested on anyway. She was probably right, Daddy didn't want anyone to mess with her, and she only trusted Daddy to fix her up anyway! Not that she needed any fixing yet, which was good. Well, maybe she'd let Elly Otu do something to her... but only if Daddy said it was okay!
Wait, Jakey was the one she was going to test it on? He even wanted to try it? Gracie beamed.* "Yay, Jakey! Ehe! I wanna see him test it!" *She reached up to grip the edge of the desk and tried to pull herself up higher to see what Elly Otu was typing better. More coding... Gracie couldn't really understand it yet, though in the back of her mind she thought she recognized some of the patterns. Ignoring that, she peeked up at Elly Otu and asked,* "Can I watch him test it?"

The tech labs were fairly easy to find now that Mary had downloaded a map of the Temple into her mask. True to her assessment, the OOM pilot droid booted up with no problems. Poking around in the unwanted or broken droids that had been tossed or forgotten, Mary was quick to locate enough droids to outfit her new crew. An AD-series weapons maintenance droid from the first Empire proved to be a good grab & a quick data modification & download turned it into a general maintenance role. Setting the AD to built what amounted to an astromech inside the chassis of the H-1ME battle mechanic droid she found, she turn to her other projects.
A factory issue LE-series repair droid was added to her roster & set to work refurbishing a blue T1-series utility droid that was the better part of a few thousand years old. An equally old, but somehow still functional BAF-320 Repair Droid was hooked up for some programming upgrades before it took was added to the growing roster. The missing arms of a GD16-Series pilot droid were located & reattached while the LE finished the T1. The pair of them then began work on an old Duelist Elite that had been carved into several pieces with a lightsabre. Last, an HV-7 loading droid was grabbed before Mary lead her small army back to the hanger.
They did not leave alone, however, as Mary had also requisitioned enough parts & machinery to rebuilt a fair sized ship. That was her plan after all.

"Good, now turn your head to the right."
*Gracie followed the instruction, impatience showing on her features as she stood in front of a scanner.* "Why do I gotta do this, Daddy?"
"I just want to make sure everything's in order for you," *answered the bespectacled man, standing at the computer and examining a digital readout of Gracie's body's schematics.* "Never know what might go wrong after an upgrade. Now, look forward and raise your arms straight up above your head, please."
*She pouted and did so. This was the second "upgrade" she had received to her robot body after her daddy put her in it to save her life. And that was still really cool! He saved her and made an awesome robot body that acted just like a real body! He'd even found a way to make her "grow up" by way of these "upgrades," and it had sounded great at first, but these little "diagnostics" afterward had already gotten old by the second time. Granted, she did have to take a little bit of time to get used to the slight changes in her body's size, and her voice was definitely the slightest bit different, and she felt smarter too after each time... And she got new clothes, too! But these tests were so boring!*
"Alright, Gracie," *Daddy announced with a smile.* "Everything's clear. You're good to go."
"Yay!" *She threw herself at him for a quick embrace, then darted off to go play!
... at least, that had been the original plan, for the moment she caught sight of a reflection of herself she had stopped to examine it. She took note of every change, every difference in her body, despite how subtle they might have been. Height, facial and body features, even her hair seemed slightly longer. Once she deemed herself satisfied with her current form, she made herself ready to venture out into the base. Maybe she'd find Jakey or Elly Otu, and she'd get to show off her "upgrade"!*

Good kriffing job. Run like the coward you are.
Her thoughts had followed roughly the same message on repeat, differing only in the wording, since she had left the detention cells.. and her brother. And, other than a brief exchange involving an inquiry as to the labs' location and a repeated insistence that she wasn't stupid enough to try anything, she hadn't spoken a word since her half-assed apology.
True to her word, she wasn't trying anything fancy with the labs. More accurately, she wasn't even doing anything at the labs; she was just sitting there outside of them with her eyes closed. She could feel the escort watching her, but she didn't care.
You don't get to care about that anymore anyways.
She shook that off, just focusing on the soft hum of nearby machinery for now. That hum had been a constant comfort in her life, and she..
Going for comfort rather than facing your problems like a woman. Good kriffing job.
She winced at that. What would she even say to her brother other than apologizing? Why hadn't she spent the time figuring this out during her time in her cell?
Did you hope you would rot in there? Even in prison, you're still trying to run?? When will you ever learn..

*Morgan was only happening to pass by when she noticed the woman sulking outside of the tech labs. She had to perform a double-take as she stopped in her tracks, her partner, the half-Zeltron Laney, initially not noticing until she glanced back and saw that her friend had fallen behind.* "Hey, what gives?" *the blue-haired girl asked as she returned to Morgan's position.
But Morgan was piecing together where she had seen her before, and who she was: Lana's "mom." Morgan had seen her carted off from the hangar some time ago, unconscious. Lana seemed to have had... mixed feelings at best regarding her return, which Morgan found odd. From then on she had only been curious about the woman, her only other source of information having to come from her father, who'd interviewed her and had deemed her a good person who was forced into a tough situation. He hadn't necessarily seemed approving of her history, but at least understanding.
And there the woman sat, in prison garb, her colorful hair seemingly outgrowing itself slightly.*
"Wonder why she's dressed like a prisoner," *Laney commented.* "Or why there's a prisoner out in the open here..."
"She was supposed to be let go," *Morgan commented simply before deciding to approach the woman instead. She wasn't alone, she had a Jedi escort with her, but that didn't stop her from seeming like she needed some sort of company. When close enough, Morgan awkwardly greeted,* "Um, hi! You're... Elly, right? I'm Morgan, one of Lana's friends."

Elly barely glanced up at the greeting, then did a double-take of her own at the mention of her name. Then..
I wonder what Lana's told her.
"Hi Morgan." Despite that thought, a small smile crept onto her face at the thought of her daughter making friends. "..how is she?"
Shoulda said "how are you." Selfish as usual.

*Suddenly the emotions of apprehension and self-deprecation brushed at the edges of Morgan's mind ever-so-slightly. A frown briefly crossed her features, wondering why exactly those emotions were triggered by the mention of Lana. The one that made sense was the motherly curiosity, yet that was tied to... worries of selfishness?* "She's fine!" *Morgan answered, the frown melting into a reassuring smile.* "Good, even. How are you?" *... well that was an awkward question that Morgan almost winced at. Something Laney quietly snickered at, sensing her immediate regret over asking it.*

"I'm fine."
Liar.
She winced slightly, internal dialogue once more yielding external results. For a few moments, she wondered if this was what it was like to be in Cao's head, but quickly dismissed the idea; she knew that this was all her. Crystal blue eyes darted over to Laney, lingering on her for a few seconds before returning to Morgan.
"..what brings the Headmaster's daughter and her friend to see me, anyway?"
Were you just trying to sound aloof? Cuz if so, you failed. Miserably.
Good job.

*Such an obvious question would of course spark such an obvious and inaccurate answer; Morgan knew that and yet hadn't really thought it through before she asked the question. But what was surprising was how harshly Elly reacted to her own lie, and really herself in general. Morgan was about to respond to the question when a certain detail suddenly registered in her mind and she frowned.* "How did you know who I was?"

A half smile made its way across her face at the question posed to her.
"I.. didn't. Not for certain."
A breath escaped her, the barest approximation of a laugh, and was shortly followed by a few more.
"Old habits die hard, huh?"
Great impression on the kid, Alena.
"..never mind."

*Lucky guess? Morgan frowned; there had to be more to it than that. She also had no idea what these "old habits" were—*
"Well, to be fair, Morgan is distinctive around here," *her half-Zeltron friend, stepping forward.* "Laney, by the way. Morgan forgot to introduce me." *She mock-pouted at Morgan, who managed a smile and a light shove.*
"Sorry for being distracted!" *Finally returning to Elly's question, she responded,* "Anyway... we were just passing through. I... guess I just recognized you and... wanted to know what Lana's mom was like." *She paused a moment, then tilted her head.* "What 'old habits'?"

"Charmed," she said in response to the introduction, the half smile still steady on her face as her eyes darted between the two. Another soft laugh escaped her, as bare as the first had been, but it quickly faded as Morgan..
..wanted to know what Lana's mom was like.
Elly opened her mouth to speak before firmly clamping it shut again, knowing that whatever she had to say..
Don't know.
..was not going to be pleasant.
Haven't met her yet.
"I.."
I'm just her creator.
Yeah. Some mom you are.
And there was the small wince again, though another question had arisen, thankfully masking her soft utterance. She took a few moments to try to gather herself and just breathe rather than act on instinct; it was becoming rapidly apparent that her instincts were not as reliable as they once were.
"I'm..."
Once more.
"I.. used to deal in information. Reading people is a habit of mine." Once more the smile crept onto her face. "It helped me make.. It helped bring Lana and her sisters to life."
Inside, she was filled with turmoil, pride over her creations warring with the sorrow that she may have pushed them away from her forever..

*Elly continued to seem emotionally unstable, particularly in regards to Morgan's desire to know more about Lana's mom. It seemed she was frightened that she had turned her beloved children against them. Despite all this, she tried to mask her feelings and simply answer Morgan's question, with an interesting answer to be sure, but Morgan only continued to frown with concern over Elly's state.* "Why are you so worried? Lana doesn't hate you..." *She of course couldn't speak for the other LE units, but she could at least somewhat assuage the woman.*

"...right. Jedi."
Her grip on the device she held tightened, though it would do her little good; the crystal within was only protecting her from the Force's impact, not blocking it out completely. Once more the thought crossed her mind to try to make something more efficient from it, and now she was out of her cell and able to act on that thought.. but that could wait.
Do you ev-..
"I wouldn't blame her if she did, you know."
For once she managed to silence the self-loathing remark in her head with more dialogue, rather than the other way around. "I made a real mess of things." ..even though what she was saying was only marginally more kind.
