*It appeared that Elly at last was exercising some sort of control over her emotions and spoke more confidently... even if the words weren't exactly something to be proud of.* "Well, she doesn't," *Morgan repeated with certainty.* "Sometimes people disappoint you, but you still love them. You just... gotta give it time."

The moments dragged on before Elly finally spoke again.
"Yeah," she said softly. "I guess you're right."
And what about Cao?
...
She shifted her position slightly out of her tight huddle, letting one leg fall to the side still bent. Another soft breath escaped her in half a laugh, and she almost managed to keep the bitterness out of her tone.. almost.
"So, am I everything you thought I'd be?"
Distract from the topic at hand.
Hah.

*Morgan was unsure for a moment if her words even meant anything, but finally Elly confessed she thought Morgan was right. This only gave the girl the smallest of smiles; she was glad to have helped, but it didn't really seem to have any immediate effects. These things took time, she knew, but she wished helping people worked a little faster sometimes...
The next question was a clear attempt at distraction, but Morgan had nothing else to say on the prior topic so simply decided to humor Elly.* "I... don't know," *she responded truthfully.* "I mean, you just got out of jail, so I guess I didn't expect much right away..."
"Smooth," *Laney quipped.*

That elicited a soft chuckle from her.
"Can't blame you there." Another chuckle came from her before continuing. "Though I used to look a lot more impressive before all this."
Aren't we full of ou-..
That was amazing work and you know it.
For a few moments, an actual smile at a memory flitted across her face. She opened her mouth to talk again, and though the expression became muted, the barest hint of it shone through in her voice.
"So.. how long have you two been friends?"

*Morgan didn't doubt that Elly looked better before her capture, and indeed she kind of wished she could have met her in that state. There were likely opportunities for stories later, that she was sure of, so she opted not to press the issue and respond with,* "We've been classmates a long time but weren't really close friends until... a year ago?"
"Sounds right," *Laney agreed.
Morgan smiled and put an arm around her, adding,* "And we've been close friends ever since!"
*Laney smirked as she returned the half-embrace, remarking,* "Very close."
*Morgan very briefly grimaced and quickly added,* "We're even part of a team! Though we spend more time together than with the others..." *Well that certainly didn't help, nor did the shade of pink that came to her cheeks.*

Elly looked back and forth between the two during their respective answers, and her eyebrows went up at the last little bit.
"...ah," she said finally, "I see." She held her gaze on Morgan for a few seconds more, than looked to Laney for her next question.
"What sort of team is that?"
Distraction's working.

*Despite herself, Morgan was able to keep a level gaze with Elly, though she did feel a bit of relief when the subject came to their team and she stopped just short of an appropriate sigh.* "We don't have a name yet," *she admitted,* "but it's us and three others, another girl and two boys, and we go out and solve problems! ... little ones, most of the time. We even have our own ship! ... which we haven't named yet."
"If Bolt and Niam get it to fly again," *Laney grumbled.*

"I could get it to fly."
The response was immediate, and she actually caught herself by surprise with that fact.
Getting cocky again?
I know what I can do.
You just got out of a detention cell. Like they'll let you near their ship.
...Right.
"I'm.. kinda good at that sort of thing."
Despite herself, she did have to admit that that was an understatement. Laney might not have known about that, but if Morgan was friends with LE-02, there was no doubt she knew what Elly was capable of.
Cocky.

*The instant reply briefly threw Morgan off... until she suddenly felt very silly for not realizing that the woman who designed Lana—as well as the other LE units and various other impressive devices—would of course likely have some experience with ships as well. She grinned, believing Elly and nodding before she suddenly frowned.* "Would they let you, though?" *she asked, preemptive disappointment in her voice as she glanced up at Elly's escort.*

Elly closed her eyes briefly and sighed, taking a moment before turning to face her escort.
"Look, I know what I'm doing, and I'm not foolish enough to try anything with a shuk'yc ship, let alone one belonging to the Headma-.."
Her escort's hands came up, a clear sign to calm down and let her speak.
"Hey, we were just over this. You're under supervision for a reason. I'll stop you when I see something worth stopping."
Elly was a little taken aback at that. Did Aerandir have that much faith in her? Mentally, she shrugged. She wasn't going to look a gift nerf in the mouth, after all. She closed her mouth and nodded, then turned back to look at the two preteens before her. The ghost of a smirk graced her features as she spoke again.
"Well then."

*Surprisingly, when Elly made her case, the guard with her assured her that she would only intervene when she saw it necessary. Morgan was actually a bit surprised... and also wondering what the strange word was Elly had used. Was it some kind of foreign swear? She'd have to ask about that... but first, it seemed they might have an accomplished mechanic on their hands, causing her to grin.* "So, you wanna go now, or... ?"

It wasn't a ghost this time but a full-fledged smirk on her face when she spoke again.
"Show me what you got."
Back at it again.
This is what I'm good at.
Being overconfident? Yeah.
The smirk faded ever so slightly, but thankfully that was masked by the process of her pushing herself onto her feet. Once standing, she looked down at the crystal device in her hand, once again wishing it was of a more portable, convenient design. She realized then that even if her escort did see something worth stopping, it wouldn't be too hard; all she had to do was remove the device from the vicinity, and Elly would be down for the count.
..Understandable.
For a moment, she couldn't tell if that was the voice of her turmoil or that of her logic.. but she didn't disagree. She'd earned this fate, after all.
So she shrugged, then finally she turned her attention back to Morgan. Obviously the ship was going to be in the hangar, but she hadn't exactly been in a position to know where that was yet..

*Morgan grinned, happy that this seemed to put Elly in a better mood, and eager to see what she could do for the ship. All things considered, even if Elly did something to the ship, she didn't exactly expect the team to deem it a complete and satisfactory repair until Niam and Bolt made their own assessment of it. Possibly Daddy too, or at least another base engineer who had the proper expertise.* "Okay, well, this way!" *She waved Elly onward and, arm-in-arm with Laney, led the way to the hangar.
Her expression briefly faltered; after all, she had just declined a visit to the very same place not so long ago. It didn't matter, since she had a real reason for going to the hangar that didn't involve potential disappointment, so she perked back up and carried on.*

Dranosh lead a handful of technicians into one of the Tech Lab bays that had recently been emptied out. As he set his hammer down and started opening up all the files he had brought with him, the technicians went about setting up the equipment Dranosh had requested for this project

A couple of crates arrived to the tech lab that Dranosh was working in. Within, was a variety of different crystals used within lightsabers to power them and focus the blade. With his source material set up and ready to go, he went about constructing a number of hilt parts. A lot of it was guess work, as he cut out pieces to use for the hilt exterior, put together the power packs, and carefully made the various arrays

Chalco was just approaching the secure turbolift at the far end of the tech labs when his comlink pinged. The journey from the lecture halls had been uneventful, the Faleen Jedi Master traversing the distance with his hands tucked into the opposite sleeves of his emerald and tan robes, the very picture of Jedi poise. That poise belied an undercurrent of anticipation at the imminent fruition of carefully worked plans. The comlink call triggered a spike of anticipation despite his attempts to remain calm. He couldn't help a chuckle as he drew the comlink forth. If only his students could see his angst...With a gentle caress she stroked the Oggzil to life, using slight ridges along the side to input the coordinates she was given by the Lizard-like Jedi she had met nearly a week earlier, Menzine Kwaad peered intently into the fleshy device. This be Menzine Kwaad talking for Master Chalco Gannor. Do you hear, Jedi? Chalco's forehead furrowed as he listened to the heavily accented words coming over the device held in his right hand. With a slight nod of his head Chalco stopped in front of the secure turbolift to the underground labs that housed the studies of dangerous materials, depressing the transmit button on the comlink."This is Master Gannor. I bid you greetings Menzine Kwaad. Belik tiu..."He wasn't sure of his pronunciation but he had taken the time to learn a few words in the dialect of the Yuuzhan Vong, scouring the archives to find any such information on the species. He had been concerned about causing offense with such an attempt but he felt the chance of putting the nervous alien at ease was worth it."I am transmitting coordinates across this channel for a landing vector and there will be a ship en-route to escort you shortly."He paused for a moment as the lift door slid open in front of him to reveal Molan standing there blinking at him, a stack of datapads cradled him his arms. The Ithorians mouths moved silently for a moment as he got control of his surprise before being cut off from any comment by Chalco's upraised hand."Are you able to receive the coordinates with your... device?"Molan stepped out of the lift, head tilted to the side in interest at the seriousness in the Jedi Masters pose. Chalco watched as understanding dawned in the Ithorians eyes as he realised to whom Chalco was conversing, his mouths once again working in silent question. With a jerk of his head Chalco indicated they should start moving, taking the corridor towards the medical facility, a shortcut to the hangar.

"This is pretty much my home," *Gracie explained to Eva as they arrived at the tech labs, the rather lifelike droid child expertly navigating her way towards their destination.* "Daddy likes being near his work. We used to live in a different lab! We came here because he didn't want to be alone anymore and now he helps build stuff for the Jedi. Here we go!" *She stopped at a door, reached up to key in an entry code, then entered as the door slid open.* "Daddy! This girl Eva is new here and needs help!"
*The bespectacled man had been looking over schematics on a datapad when the two had entered. Looking up and seeing the new girl, as well as hearing about what she needed, made him sigh and rub his temple.* "This was probably something you should've gotten a Jedi to handle, Gracie..."
"But I don't know anyone besides Jakey... or Morgie. Or their daddy. But I didn't know where they are!"
*Dr. Rollins set down the datapad as he approached the pair.* "I'm going to have to find time to get you better acquainted then."
*Hopping on her heels, Gracie pointed to her head and suggested,* "You could download them into me!"
*Dr. Rollins hesitated a moment before eventually shaking his head.* Perhaps, but not now." *Looking towards the other girl, he said,* "'Eva,' was it? Pleasure to meet you, I'm Dr. Rollins. Sorry for the trouble my daughter's caused you, how may I be of service?"

*Eva mouthed 'wow' as she entered the lab. There was so much for her curious mind to examine, but that would have to wait. Her focus turned to Gracie's father as they entered the room. She felt her shyness well up again as Dr. Rollins spoke to her.* "Pleased to meet you too. She's actually been a lot of help." *Eva took in a small breath before she began to explakn.* "I need help finding someone in charge, or at least someone important to know that I'm here. Because..I'm kinda here by accident. I've been trying to get home, to Tanaab, but the freighter made an unscheduled stop and left me behind. I...really don't know what to do."

*Gracie nodded.* "There were pirates!"
"Oh dear," *said Dr. Rollins, who wasted no time in retrieving his datapad and tapping on it.* "Fortunately for you I have connections." *He once again set the datapad down and gestured to a nearby chair.* "Someone will be here shortly, feel free to take a seat. Could I get you anything?"
"I think she wants a ride home," *supplied Gracie.*
"Yes, I know," *replied the doctor, trying to hide his amusement,* "but I meant as in food or drink. I don't have any say over the base's ships."

*Eva almost cringed when Gracie mentioned pirates. That was still a fresh wound, and one of the reasons she was here in the first place. She calmly took a seat as relief swept over her. Someone was going to be here to help her. Although she couldn't figure out what they could do for her if they got her home anyway.*
"Thank you. For your help." *She almost declined the offer for food, but her stomach gave a loud growl of protest. Her cheeks reddened some as she gave a sheepish grin.* "I could go with something to eat. Last time I ate was right before the freighter ride that brought me here. That was...almost a full day ago."
