Hello all,
Fel here, with an idea I've been kicking around for a long while. Something nice and ripe for us all to sink our collective teeth into. Goes a little something like this.
Twenty years ago.
...Planet X (who's hosting this little shin-dig? Ideally a mid-size planet, politically, with no clear ties to Empire, Republic or other major faction, but a planet with great aspirations that wants to move up the food-chain. Preferrably a planet under-developed, writing-wise, to add quality to that world) has a group of scientists that develop a cocktail of drugs for the good of mankind. The potential medicinally is seen right away: restorative powers in the circulatory, cognitive and respiratory functions of the elderly. In low doses, over a protracted period of time, the drug cocktail is said to eliminate (or hold at bay) the onset of dementia, alzheimers and physically adds ten years to a patient with maladies ranging from heart disease to arthritis. The clinical trials go extremely well, but after six years of patient trials, the drug, TL-01A, disappears.
Ten years ago.
Planet X, looking to increase galaxy-wide exposure and profile, unveils a government-sponsored super-soldier program. The subjects, at this stage merely a single platoon of troopers, is unlike anything the universe has ever seen before. They wear permanently attached drug injection harnesses with injection points at the neck, biceps, wrists, thighs and ankles continually injecting them with a drug cocktail based on (but not solely) TL-01A. The effects are staggering. 200% increase in muscle mass, super-human levels of strength, reflexes, focus, dexterity, cognitive ability, tactical analysis. The subjects are, in a word, better, smarter, faster then any humanoids ever before. Before / after vids of the subjects also show that aesthetically, the subjects become the idealized versions of themselves, appearing youthful and vigorous, with noticeable reductions in scar tissue, and corrective tendencies in congenital defects even at the genetic level. During the implantation process, the subjects are also have implanted a micro-processor and nano-bot technology that identifies wounds and dispatches the bots through the bloodstream to aid in knitting of tissues. The micro-processor constantly monitors adrenal and epinephrine levels, adjusting blood and brain chemistry as needed. The soldiers are functionally fearless, and physically feel less pain. Coupled with a proprietary armour system every inch the equal of most power armour, they are a force to be reckoned with, there is no doubt. The 'verse sits up and takes notice.
The reveal of these soldiers is polarizing. Planetary governments either love them and covet the technology, or despise the very nature of the process. Almost overnight, there is a clear divide. Either you believe this is the next clear evolutionary step, or you believe this is a terrible perversion of science.
Eight years ago.
The technology is an overnight success. Orders and licencing agreements with tens of systems are received. However, on Planet X, problems are on the horizon. Of the original test subjects, all but one are dead. Some in the line of duty, but others from complications arising from the doping. All the benefits are present, but the physical toll placed on the body is immense. Brittle bones, heart disease, aneurysms, blood clotting, blood thinning, stroke... between four and five years after receiving the process, there is a terminal phase that sets in equivalent to rapid aging. No soldier has lived more than five years after the installation of the drug harness. So far, the government of Planet X has been successful at keeping this under wraps, especially from the galaxy at large. So far, new and exciting footage of the exploits of the soldiers (starting to become known as 'Juicers') keeps prying eyes off the truth. But it is only a matter of time.
Make no mistake -- this is the kind of thing that topples regimes, and they know it. They have created ticking time bombs with very short life-spans, and when the truth comes out, the soldiers have the power and the tactical know-how to exact a truly deadly revenge.
NOW.
Too many questions have been asked. Too many inconsistencies. Too many deaths and cover-ups. The cat is almost out of the bag. Does this stop volunteers from backwater moons from volunteering for the Juicer process? No. Trading a long, boring, peasant's life for a short, dangerous adventure-filled life still lures in the stupid, the desperate or the malevolent. However, a lot of good soldiers will die, and soon.
What can be done?
Is there a cure?
How long before the soldiers find out they're on a one-way ticket to an early grave, and revolt?
Needs / Thoughts:
A typical Juicer.
Juicer heavy armour.

How long before the soldiers find out they're on a one-way ticket to an early grave, and revolt?
Needs / Thoughts:
- A planet to host the RP
- A few writers to play soldiers
- What if there was a Sith presence on planet X, and when the truth becomes known, the Sith offer a 'cure' in the form of Sith Alchemy (or other) -- thereby essentially buying themselves an army of super-soldiers?
- What if the 'cure' is worse than the disease -- when the subject dies as is usual, the body continues on in the service of the Sith (zombies!)
- A few writers to play the scientists, or the Sith
- Other thoughts and ideas??
