Raine let out a sigh as they waited and glanced around. Then she realized something.* "Where's Eimhin?" *Her eyes darted around for a moment noticing that her brother was nowhere to be seen. Panic gripped her some as she started to look for him. After a few minutes, she found him out back by the stream.*
*Relief replaced panic when she saw him. When she spotted what was swimming towards him, fear took over. She sprinted over and grabbed him, pulling him away from the creature. She didn't know what it was, but she was now between it and her brother.*

Lorcan, pretending to be offended by Raine's question about what he owes Fee for the ride even though, in truth, he is a bit impressed that she has seen through what he thinks was a pretty decent acting job, snorts and asks, "What do I owe her? She's getting the joy of my, our company, so, you know, she should be paying us. Able to see that he is not fooling his daughter, he mutters, Fifty credits."
Forgetting about Fee and credits owed when Raine asks about Eimhin, Lorcan frowns as he lifts a hand to shade his eyes and scans around for his son. Following after Raine when she sets out, Lorcan winces when he watches her pull Eimhin away from the stream and the fanned rawl swimming towards the lad. Drawing his blaster pistol from its holster in a smooth motion, Lorcan fires a pair of shots at the green reptilian snake, hitting it both times and killing it.
Going over to where Raine and Eimhin are, Lorcan pats his daughter on the shoulder and, sounding as cheery as ever despite the fact his heart is still hammering in his chest and the thought of what could have happened threatens to overwhelm him, says, "Good work, nicely done. Squatting down to face Eimhin, Lorcan, keeping his tone calm and even in hopes of getting his point across, says sternly, Always stay with your unit, verd'ika. Never go off without letting me or Raine know, understood?"

Smiling at Telarial's unrestrained show of enthusiasm, Torin nods when she explains her hope to serve Clan Bralor well, reassuring her, "I am sure that you will, Telarial. If ever you need anything, he adds, you need only ask. Standing up, knowing Faelan well enough to know that his clansman is not likely to linger long, Torin asks Faelan, When will you be leaving for Agamar?"
"Tomorrow," Faelan replies in his customarily terse fashion.
Torin nods, glancing at Telarial as he says slyly, "Quite a few opportunities for a verd'goten on Agamar, I imagine."
Smiling, Faelan agrees, "A few," though he expands no more on the subject.
Torin nods, walking over to Telarial and resting a hand on her shoulder, "Perhaps Clan Bralor will have something to celebrate when you return, and then says, I have other news that may be worth celebrating as well, before explaining briefly what he had learned when meeting with Damocles. After he has finished speaking of the potential a new Mand'alor will be named soon, Torin says, I will keep you both apprised of any developments. K'oyacyi," Torin tells them as they leave.
Walking towards his speeder after they have left, Faelan puts an arm around Telarial's shoulder as he says, "I think he liked you, and then, as they take their seats in the speeder, explains, We'll check in on Raicheal, see how she is doing with readying the ship, and then head home I think. Unless there is anything you'd like to do before we head back?"

*Telarial merely smiles and nods in agreement as Torin bids them farewell. After she was buckled in the speeder, Torin's words raised many questions. One in particular...although many more soon followed*
"What did Torin mean by "a few opportunities"?...have many people gone to Agamar for this? Also, what did he mean there might be a celebration? Is that part of passing the verd'goten...like a graduation ceremony?"

*Eimhin's breathing quickened and tears formed in his eyes when he was yanked away and the snake thing was shot. The little lad had a feeling something was wrong when Raine pulled him away from the curious looking creature, though he couldn't understand why. Obviously still too young to heed caution when approaching something unknown, he looked up at Lorcan with a saddened yet remarkably anger driven, accusing look*
"NO! Why'd you kill it? It was nice and pretty! He was gonna be my pet..."

Accustomed to the way her enthusiasm can lead his daughter to launch a veritable flood of eager questions, Faelan has a small smile at the corner of his lips as Telarial fires off a series of inquiries as they make their way to Norg Bral's modest landing pad area where they will meet with Raicheal. Not wanting to give away too much information that might give Telarial any unfair advantage when she faces her verd'goten, Faelan answers her question openly, yet sparingly where some details are concerned.
"Torin simply meant that Agamar's terrain and present state of affairs mean that there are many ways to test one's survival and martial skills. As for whether others have faced the verd'goten on Agamar, yes there have been a few that I know of. Agamar was only recently occupied, Faelan adds in case his daughter is unaware of that fact, however, so most of the testing has been of Agamar natives adopted by Mando'ade from the various clans helping with the occupation. So far it has primarily been younger members of Agamar's defense force that wished to learn our ways, Faelan explains in case Telarial is not aware of some of the ways the Mando'ade swell their ranks, although we have also begun to initiate programs that house and train children orphaned in the fighting, and others that seek willing and qualified individuals to be trained as well."
Giving what he has said time to sink in, anticipating that he may have invited another flood of questions, Faelan remains quiet as they continue on for the landing pads. Pointing out a worn and battle-scarred M22-T Krayt gunship as they reach the landing pads, Faelan has obvious pride in his voice as he says, "There she is, the Jai'galaar. Lifting a hand to wave to Raicheal, loading a repulsorsled with stores and other gear for the journey to Agamar, Faelan adds even though Telarial will almost certainly recognize their clanswoman from her uniquely patterned grey beskar'gam and headscarf, and there is Raicheal." Setting the speeder down, Faelan takes his time before exiting in case his daughter has more questions for him.

Lorcan, mentally counting to ten so as not to react to his son's outburst with less patience than he might otherwise, forces himself to keep smiling as he explains, "Not every pretty thing is nice, my little verd'ika. The sooner you learn that lesson, he adds sternly, the happier and safer you will be. That was a fanned rawl, very dangerous, and definitely not a good candidate for a pet. It could have hurt you very, very badly, my verd'ika. Tapping Eimhin on the forehead gently, he says, I will teach you about flora and fauna, so that you will know which are safe, and many other things as well, but, he adds in a more firm tone, you must always do as I say, and staying with your unit, with me and Raine, is not negotiable. Looking his young son in the eye, searching for signs that what he has said will sink in and stay with the boy, Lorcan repeats, Now, do you understand me, my verd'ika?"

*Telarial listened intently to what Faelan had to say and tried to unravel the coming mystery surrounding their inherent adventure. Instead of releasing another slew of questions, she releases a weary sigh. She opened her mouth about to say something else, when her eyes beheld Faelan's ship.*
"THAT's your ship?! It's incredible! I suppose there is no possible way you'd let me pilot at some point?"
*She continued to stare at it with a gaping mouth and shut it when Raicheal came into view. She released a small, happy laugh and leaped out of Faelan's speeder and ran to their clanswoman. Raicheal was starting to feel like an elder sister...maybe even an aunt in her perspective. Telarial bounded over and enveloped the other woman in a welcoming hug. It was fleeting and she broke the embrace and muttered an apology.*
"Please forgive me...I don't know your constraints or views when it comes to hugs...but I'm just so happy to see you again!"

*Eimhin pouted and stared at the ground when his father admonished him. He winced when he heard the very distinct tone of voice that promised a punishment of some sort should he choose to disobey in the future and started to nod but stopped when something appeared to have caught his attention. He looked up at Lorcan and canted his head to the side with a curious stare*
"What is...neg-o-tia-boll?"

Smiling proudly with a nod when Telarial calls his ship incredible, Faelan looks and sounds a bit concerned as he answers her question about the possibility of her piloting the gunship, laughing to try and conceal his natural caution where the vessel is concerned, "Oh, well, um, yes, I suppose that would be possible. At, at some point. Maybe," he is unable to refrain from adding with an almost apologetic smile.
Raicheal seems more caught off guard by Telarial's hug than uncomfortable with it, and she even has a rare smile when she assures Faelan's daughter, "I have no objection to hugs in theory or practice, laughing as she then says, It is good to see you as well. Nodding with her chin towards Faelan as he walks over to join them, she asks Telarial quietly, You know he's never looked as happy as he does since you came into his life, yes? Her demeanor becoming less casual as Faelan reaches them, Raicheal pats the side of the repulsorsled she had been loading, This is the last of the supplies. She's fully fueled, her stores are completely restocked, and I completed all of the pre-flight checks. Everything is rayshe'a de rayshe'a."
"Good work, Faelan says as he reaches out to clap Raicheal on the shoulder. We depart in the morning once we've picked up something from the smith, so if you've anything that you need to look after before we . . ."
"I'm ready, Raicheal interrupts Faelan before he can go on, then asks, How long will we be gone this time?"
Shaking his head, Faelan answers, "Time will tell, and then asks Telarial, Would you like to go aboard, have a look around?"
______________________________________________________________________
Lorcan scratches the side of his nose as he squints at Eimhin when asked what negotiable means, not accustomed to needing to take into account the possibility that he might need to choose his words more carefully in light of his son's vocabulary level. "It's, um, something that can be negotiated, then, realizing he has simply used another form of the word, purses his lips in thought and tries, It's, er, something that is not set in stone yet, that could change based on, you know, talking about it, back and forth like?"
Fionnuala, her mane of blonde dreadlocks secured in a bun rather than worn loose and her buy'ce tucked beneath her arm, shakes her head with an amused smile as she approaches Lorcan and his children, helpfully telling Eimhin, "Negotiable means modifiable Em. Try not to make your buir think too hard. Big words can confuse him. Giving Raine a smile as Lorcan pouts while giving Fionnuala a dirty look, she asks, You all ready to go?"

*Telarial is relieved to hear that her clanswoman does not object to her embrace. When the elder woman asks Telarial the question regarding how much Faelan had changed for the better since she'd arrived in his care, she smiled.*
"I did notice. I'm happy to see that he has found what he believed was lost. I'm glad he's my buir. I guess he never planned on having a daughter though..." Telarial laughed.
*Telarial gave Faelan a mock pout when she detected his reservation in allowing her to pilot his ship she gave him a small smile*
"I understand if you don't want me to touch your ship...but as for the tour, I'd love one!!"
*Without hesitation she ran for his ship and sprinted up the boarding ramp*

*Eimhin squealed with glee when Lorcan's friend Fionnula appeared. He ran up to her with arms held high and gave her the adorable, imploring look that begged her to pick him up.*

Laughing with a nod of her head, Raicheal agrees with Telarial, a faint note of melancholy briefly detectable in her tone, "You guess correctly, but it can sometimes be that the things we don't plan or look for that prove to be the most fulfilling, or that make us the happiest."
Smiling as she watches Telarial and Faelan enter the ship, Raicheal shakes her head, returning her thoughts to the present as she continues to prep the gunship for the journey to Agamar.
As they are walking up the boarding ramp, Faelan explains to Telarial, "She is a bit cramped, even with the former cell areas removed to make space for additional bunks, but she's comfortable enough, and has never let me down." The tour of the ship does not take long, and Faelan points out the main features - a small refresher, the bunks all located in one area rather than in individual quarters, the cargo area, and the turret seat and controls - as they proceed forward to the cockpit, which is as small as to be expected, but just as neatly maintained as the rest of the vessel.
After disembarking from the gunship once the tour has been completed, Faelan speaks with Raicheal for a few moments, arranging a mutually agreeable time to depart in the morning and trying with no success to invite his clanswoman, who is often solitary by choice for reasons she has never revealed to him, to join him and Telarial for their evening meal. Once they have entered his speeder and are underway, Faelan suggests, "Why don't we prepare dinner for everyone? Something with that beast that made its way into my freezer overnight perhaps?"
________________________________________________
Picking Eimhin up and twirling around him happily, Fionnuala squeals, "Emmm!! Tucking Eimhin under an arm playfully as she tickles him, Fee tells Lorcan, So, this handsome lil' guy will be riding in front with me, of course, so you and Raine are in the back. Oh, and pay up," she concludes, holding out a hand and waggling her fingers.
Scowling sulkily as he reaches into a pouch to get the credits, Lorcan mutters, "Totally thought you were kidding about that."
Pocketing the credits Lorcan hands to her, Fee says, "Nope, with a cheery grin as she buckles Eimhin in, and then asks, Where to first?" Nodding as, after putting her buy'ce on, she sets out for the orphanage once Lorcan has revealed their first destination and their purpose in going to it, Fee reaches over to pat Eimhin's head as she tells the boy, :: Don't you worry, Emm, you'll be reunited with Alastair in no time!::

*Raine never flinched when her dad shot the snake. Maybe she had grown to used to such a thing, she wondered. She almost rolled her eyes when Emm said that he wanted to keep the snake as a pet, but pushed the thought aside when she remembered that he was still little. Her attention turned to Fionnuala as she pulled up in a speeder. The older woman's arrival was a welcome one. She returned the Fee's smile and climbed into the back of the speeder with her dad.*

*Telarial allowed Faelan to lead the way and had no need for questions since the elder Mando'ade explained everything so well during the tour of his ship. After they were well settled again in his landspeeder she gave Faelan a grin as a thought occurred to her.*
"You know...I think I know why you are so frightened to allow me to pilot your ship. You have a meticulously annoying habit of being a perfectionist--don't think I never noticed since the first day we met! You are afraid I will crash it, aren't you?"
*When he mentioned the animal she'd secretively locked in the freezer chest outside his home she groaned and hid her face in both hands, a sure indication that she was highly embarrassed for having been caught.*
"I was seriously hoping you would believe it was Lorcan who hunted that..."

*Eimhin giggled when Fee picked him up and spun him around. His giggles turned into full blown laughter seconds later when she tickled him. Once everyone was settled in the vehicle, he looked at Fee with all the seriousness one so young as him could muster.*
"Fee, you will help me find Alastair?"

Fionnuala, bobbing her head with an almost ceremonial solemnity, assures Eimhin with all the gravity she can muster, ::I will absolutely, indubitably, irrefutably, unrelentingly and unremittingly help you find Alastair, handsome. Wait and see, you and me? We'll find him and bring him back safe and sound in no time at all. We're on a mission, you n' me, and we'll see it through, no doubt. ::
As she sets her speeder down in front of the orphanage, Fee pats Eimhin on the shoulder, pointing then to the building they have reached as she says, ::Recognize that place, handsome? I have a feeling Alastair is in there, just waiting for us to come and extract him. Looking over her shoulder, she tells Lorcan and Raine in a theatrically serious tone as she prepares to make a game of things for Eimhin, You two watch our backs, we'll take point, and then nods to Eimhin as she asks, Ready? Let's move out handsome.::
____________________________________________
Faelan, with little success, tries to appear surprised, incredulous, and annoyed at Telarial's suggestion that he is a perfectionist, the fact that he is self-aware enough to know that his daughter is right making it difficult, if not impossible for him to add a verbal denial to the implied one in his expression. "I never said anything about crashing, Faelan points out, suddenly becoming very focused on the task of piloting his speeder so he does not need to meet her eyes as he adds, It never even entered my mind in fact. Until now. Not, he lifts a hand as though making a solemn oath, that I doubt your piloting abilities. I just haven't had the chance to witness them, he mumbles, then smiles as he says, Yet anyway. I'm sure we'll find opportunities for you to pilot . . . things other than my ship. For now. Maybe in the future though. Sometime. Maybe."
Laughing uproariously when Telarial explains her hope that he might have believed that his brother had hunted the beast in question, it takes a moment for Faelan, wiping the tears of laughter from his eyes, to say, "There is only one thing I know of that Lorcan hunts, ad'ika, and that's . . . stopping himself before he completes the thought in as colorful a way as he might in other company, Faelan settles for saying, Ahem, well, let's just say that it's not animals that my brother routinely chases after, ad'ika."
As he exits his speeder after setting it down, Faelan, finding himself looking forward to cooking with his daughter as such quiet moments may be in short supply once they embark for Agamar, asks Telarial, "Any ideas how we should prepare this beast of yours?"

*Telarial raised an eyebrow and gave him a look whether he could see it or not that clearly said she understood all about her uncle Lorcan. As for her piloting skills, she gasped and gave him an expression in both gesture and tone, of mock hurt*
"It wounds me but that you don't trust my awesome piloting skills...but you know..."
*She gave him a sly grin*
"You could always add that test to the verd'goten training...not that you will really need to teach me anything"

Fionnuala gives Eimhin a thumbs up, looking over a shoulder to include Raine as she says, ::Hey, she made a Rancor tuck tail and run, she's definitely someone we want on our side, yeah? C'mon lil' man, let's go and get Alastair.::
Lorcan, shaking his head with a chuckle as he listens to Fee and Em, pats Raine on the shoulder as they all walk towards the entrance to the orphanage. Passing Fee, who is play-acting breaching the front entrance with Em, complete with making a blaster with her index finger and calling out Clear! with comically exaggerated movements, Lorcan removes his buy'ce with a whistle as he sees the rather comely young lass behind the reception desk, and then tells Raine while using his fingers to comb his short cut hair into place, "I'll handle the talking. Watch and learn."
Giving the lass behind the reception desk his most charming smile, Lorcan holds up a hand and says, "Don't get too excited now, I'm not here to make a return, looking over his shoulder towards Fee and Em, who are continuing to play act as though using a bounding overwatch tactic to advance towards the reception desk, Fee never one to waste a teaching opportunity, as he says with genuine pride that is evident even as he flirts, Nope, my ad, Em, is just here to rescue his burc'ya, Alastair. Smiling as he looks back at the young lass behind the reception desk, he winks as he says, As hard as it might be to tear ol' Alastiar away from a mesh'la dala such as yourself."
Oblivious to the amused eye rolling that accompanies the young woman's saying that she will take a look to see if any of Em's belongings were left behind, Lorcan asks Raine, "Would it be inappropriate for me to ask what time she gets off later tonight?"
______________________________________________________________________________
Laughing as he puts an arm around Telarial's shoulders and gives her a hug as they enter their vheh'yaim, Faelan says, "Well, we know we don't need to test your abilities to successfully launch a guilt trip. Shaking his head with a playfully exaggerated resigned sigh, he says, You win, ad'ika, I'll look for an opportunity for you to display these impressive piloting skills of yours while we're on Agamar, and, if they are as impressive as you say, maybe, just maybe, I'll let you fly the Jai'galaar for our return trip."
Once they have retrieved Telarial's contribution to his freezer, Faelan and his daughter set about planning and preparing the evening's meal.

*Raine held onto her brothers hand as they climbed the steps and entered the building. She couldn't help but give a grin at Fee's response to her chasing off an imaginary rancor. When they entered the building, Raine couldn't help but stop and look around. She had never been in an orphanage before, not that there were many where she came from. All the kids of different species running around and interacting with one another made her feel like an outsider of sorts. Sure she lived a while without parents or any adult, but she didn't have the same opportunity these kids did.*
*Her attention turned back to her dad when he returned from the front desk. Which of course, he had to hit on the woman behind the desk. She rolled her eyes when he asked whether or not he should ask the woman out at. Folding her arms in front of herself, she walked past Lorcan and headed over to watch the other kids at a distance. * "Yeah, because that wouldn't be weird or anything." *Reaching the other side of the room, she sat down and watched some kids her age play a game of sort while she waited.*

*Telarial grinned and felt happier than she'd ever been in years. It was nice to see that Faelan had finally found a measure of peace. She hoped he could at last move on...but she was very curious to know more about his past. Her smile vanished as she began to help Faelan prepare dinner. She set about chopping up vegetables and throwing them in a pot, no doubt in order to prepare stew. As she performed her tasks, she kept glancing at Faelan. Should she ask him? She opened her mouth to speak but thought better of it, and shook her head. It might still be a sore subject for him....she didn't want to reopen any wound that might have healed.*
