Dice nodded. "I don't know how they'll feel about clones...but we've certainly got a high opinion of them. Hearing the Jedi are standing up against the First Order is reassuring, too. What's the current status of this conflict? Do we know any enemy strongholds, and when will the Victores expect Bralor troops?" The captain had finally chewed the fat from the discussion, and had switched into full planning mode. Conversely, Acklay placed a little more attention on Ksenia. "I'm gonna guess I or another lieutenant is going to be sent to meet with a Jedi enclave while the captain handles planning and preparations. You seem to be her number two, think you can lend us a corvette or some other small ship? Our LAATs aren't hyperdrive-equipped and the ARCs aren't rated for that kind of distance, and dropping a full Star Destroyer on someone's doorstep isn't a good idea either. Also, that Conaodh guy...we don't know the lay of the land yet, and having a personal Bralor delegation there too makes us look less spokesperson-like. Odds of him helping out?"

Harini drums her fingers on the top of her buy'ce as she replies to Dice, admiring the focused determination evident in his questions and tone and thinking that they probably could not have asked for better allies in the war against the Mordolorians if the Captain and his men are as skilled in the art of war as she suspects they will prove to be when the time comes based on what she knows of the Clones from her readings about their history during the Clone Wars. "War is, she bobbles her head from side to side while trying to think of a fitting adjective and settles on a description instead, in a bit of an odd place at the moment. Von Bralor and his surviving troops have gone underground, literally, on Manda'yaim. We have rotating air patrols doing sensor sweeps, but there is only so much ground they can cover, and depending on how deep down Von Bralor has gone while he looks for the Infinity Gate, may not be able to detect them even if they were right over them. Our hope is that our researchers will be able to learn something that narrows the Gate's location down. Our Clan leader, Torin Bralor, is planning on gathering the other Clans to see what help they are willing to provide, and if any are willing to participate in the . . . trip to Terminus to see if we can learn any more about Xeraxus or the Plague Lord behind everything."
Moving on to the issue of troops, Harini grins as she says, "The timing of your arrival couldn't be better where troops for the Victores is concerned. Torin sent us here to get some reinforcements to bring back to Manda'yaim, so we can have them head back to our home world aboard the Victores rather than task one of the ships in Agamar's defense fleet with that. They're mostly military operatives, but if you need additional naval crew to help man your Venator closer to capacity I can probably round some up as well. If you'll let me know the number of troops and crew you have in mind, I'll get to work having as many as I can get my hands on prepping to deploy to the Victores and see that you meet with the officer I'll put in charge of them, who will, naturally, be placed under your command for the duration of their tour on the Victores."
Ksenia, replying to Acklay, says, "Depending on the number of passengers you have in mind, I can take us in our Kom'rk. It is hyperdrive equipped and has room for 24 passengers. It would be a bit cramped if we're thinking of those numbers, so we could also look into borrowing a Crusader-class corvette for the trip. Has room for 80, but, on the other hand, that would mean getting enough personnel to crew it when it sounds like the Victores could use them more than a meet with the Jetiise really requires. Smiling when Acklay suggests Conaodh accompany them as well, Ksenia asks in an amused tone, Are you kidding? Do you think he'd really pass up a chance to spend time with, she imitates the Bimm's cheerful and gruff voice while pointing at Acklay just as Conaodh had pointed at the Clones earlier, Legends? And you can just call him Con, she chuckles, admitting, even I have trouble with his full name. How soon were you thinking you or another lieutenant would be ordered to head out to meet the Jetiise?"

Dice smiled. "It's good to hear the Jedi have stood up against the First Order. At least they're still the same..." he let the reassurance simmer for a moment, "The Victores would do with some more crew members. Clone crewmates are well-trained and adaptable, I can put any of them in different departments and expect a similar level of effectiveness, but I have only so many people. I'll make sure any newcomer feels comfortable aboard my ship, or at least as much comfortability as a Mandalorian would want. Let me radio my quartermaster and my sixth company lieutenant, let them know what to expect." As Dice relayed a very condensed version of Harini's briefing to the pair through his wrist-mounted commlink, Acklay continued his discussion with Ksenia.
"Probably in the next couple days, and I wasn't thinking any more than my squad here and a handful more," Acklay replied. "Probably same from the other lieutenants. The couple ARC Troopers aboard our ship, real sets of tail-kickers, took to all that Force spirituality pretty thoroughly, as much monk as they are troopers. Might be good to bring them too...that takes us to about nineteen, plus whoever you want to take along. Might be a tighter fit, but the Kom'rk," he said with surprisingly good pronunciation, "would be a better fit than a warship, however small. I bet the Jedi would take better to a light transport than a whole attack ship."
Dice finished with his short call and list of orders. "I think that just about answers all my questions. I do not mean to breach any unseen ceremonies, but unless you have any further questions, I think I should return to my ship and aide in the preparations." The captain's face was stoic, and his body language rather dry, leaving no explanation for the subtle awkwardness in his tone. It was as if he was trying to remember and mimic someone else with his words, coming out correctly but obviously not his own. "Aww, you won't even ask for food to take home? You can only have so many ration packs..." Acklay jabbed, and one of the other troopers snickered. "What's the point of having food when you can't even eat it?" "Shut it, Oddjob."

Harini nods when Captain Dice explains his needs for the Victores in more detail, letting him know, "I'll have the Mando'ade that will be temporarily placed under your command start making their way to your ship tomorrow morning so you can start getting them situated," already thinking of the Mandalorian she thinks would be best suited to acting as the commanding officer of the troops she will loan to the Victores.
Ksenia shrugs when Acklay finishes voicing his thoughts on the ship best suited for their needs, agreeing with a lop-sided grin, "I think you're right about the Kom'rk being the best option, as she imagines his estimation of how an attack ship appearing in orbit might start things off on a more tense note than anyone would like is an accurate one. I'll make sure the Muun Orar is fueled and ready for our trip," knowing that task won't be difficult given that she and Harini, the co-pilot and pilot of their squadron's Kom'rk, are both diligent to the point of obsession about ensuring their girl is always well maintained and battle ready.
Standing when Dice, his demeanor shifting into something more akin to what it had been when he first arrived for some reason, Harini offers her hand for him shake on all that they have agreed to, smiling as she assures him, "You're not breaching any etiquette, Captain. You look after your preparations, and I'll look after ours."
Ksenia, grinning cheerfully as Acklay and Oddjob banter about food, rises to her feet as she tells them, "I'll have our guys bring along some Mando'ade cuisine with them to the Victores, jokingly promising with a wink, I'll have them leave out the Tiingilar though."

The Skid Lid Sizzler
Her orange and black buy'ce tucked under an arm as she waits in the typically long and yet fast moving line in front of the Skid Lid Sizzler, Fionnuala, having decided to reward herself in her favorite way for having successfully assembled a platoon-and-then some sized volunteer force of Mando'ade from House Bralor that will be loaned out the Victores for the duration of the war against the Plague Lord that had been, as learned from a recent engagement on Manda'yaim, behind the attack on Obroa-Skai as well as the attempt to send an advance force to the Mandalorian home world that had only been discovered by a bit of good luck.
Pushing an errant blonde dreadlock bound up in copper bands behind a pointy ear as, once she finally reaches the front of the line, she waits for Buf to finish serving out the latest dishes for the customers waiting for them, the cheerful Morganian smiles happily when Buf has finished with his last customers and heads over to take her order, greeting him in their customarily playfully flirtatious way, "Tion'pehea cuyir gar ner kar'taylir darasuum? Bic ratiin vaabir ner kar'ta jate at haa'taylir gar! * Winking, not wanting to take up too much of his time since he has other customers waiting behind her, Fionnuala says in a theatrically husky voice accompanied by the fluttering of her eyelashes, Gar kar'taylir meg ni copad teh gar," ** since he knows her favorite dish by heart after all of the times he has served it to her.* How are you my love? It always does my heart good to see you! ** You know what I want from you

It was another busy day or work in Calna Muun, The Skid Lid Sizzler having become a much well known name since some of his work had afforded him the funds to make some upgrades. A couple days a week he ran themed events where a certain speciality dish was served. These events had drawn more customers on other days. Today was one such busy day on the regular menu when he caught sight of Fionnuala in line bic jate ner kar'ta at haa'taylir gar sa pirusti, ner kar'taylir darasuum1 He is already working to grab several ingredients to start them cooking, well aware of the order she would ask for One “Fee” coming right up! The Sizzler had its Regular Menu, its Special Events Menu, and then its Secret Menu. Most people knew about the first one, but only a small few loyal customers were aware of the newly created Secret Menu. Secret Menu Item #1 “The Fee” - a Gornt Ramen with Fried Vegetables - was the first item that had inspired the idea after he had whipped the dish up for her for the first time some time ago. He ran through the prep and got the bowl ready in his usually fast time, before handing the piping hot bowl over You seem to be in a particularly cheerful mode, what occasion is the cause for celebration?
1it warms my heart to see you as well, my love

Laughing when Buf reveals that he has a dish named after her, Fionnuala puts a hand over her heart and says, "Tion'ner skraan? Ni aalar bid ijaat, * and then, digging into her Gornt Ramen and fried vegetables enthusiastically with her chopsticks, tells Buf in between bites and appreciative noises about the reason she seems more cheerful than usual; informing him of the visit to Agamar from Clone Troopers that, due to a hyperdrive malfucntion, had been sent from the past to the present, and of how the Clone Troopers had agreed to help the Mando'ade in their ongoing battle with the Plague Lord that had launched attacks on both Obroa-skai and Manda'yaim. Concluding her tale with the news that she had been selected to lead the team of House Bralor warriors and Naval crew that will be placed under the command of Captain Dice, the Clone Troopers' commanding officer, to fight with him and his men against the Plague Lord, Fionnuala, after lifting her bowl to dispatch the last of the juice remaining in it, pats her stomach with a satisfied moan as she tells Buf, Kandosii'la sa ratiin!" **
Snapping her fingers as she thinks of what Ksenia, a team leader on a Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol that had found itself involved in the fighting on both Obroa-skai and Manda'yaim, had asked her, Fionnuala asks Buf in Mando'a, "You don't offer bulk catering by any chance do you? The Clones have apparently developed a liking for our cuisine, and some of us thought it would be a nice gesture to bring some tasty dishes along with our troops to give the Clones a break from the rations or whatever they have been living on. Twirling a blonde braid around a finger, Fionnuala playfully bats her eyelashes flirtatiously as she asks Buf, Tion'vaabir gar mirdir gar liser gaa'tayl a burc'ya dayn, vod?" ***
* My own dish? I feel so honored ** Amazing, as always *** Do you think you can help a friend out, brother?

Buf kept on with his work serving the other patrons of the Sizzler, but still giving Fionnuala's story his full attention as he served up the other dishes. It seemed to be quite the tale too. Clone Troopers lost in time, an ongoing war with someone known as the Plague Lord, an assault on Manda'yaim itself. It was a story fit for one of those Holo's people watched and got so excited about. But it was difficult to feel the same about events when they were real. He had stayed away from the battlefield for so long, having sworn himself to a life of cooking. But something deep down told him that he would have to break his oath, even just a little bit. He tried to force a smile and affect it in his voice Ni'm glad gar guuror bic!1 He served out his latest order, before moving over to where Fionnuala was seated and leaned across the bench. He stared long and hard at the Morganian Woman whom he felt himself developing more and more of a connection to. She knew how to play him like a damn fiddle, and part of him was completely fine with that knowledge I'm going to need practice doing larger customer order fulfillment, so... He let out a sigh. He already knew he was going to agree the moment she asked. A hopeless romantic, perhaps? shi jorcu bic's gar, Ni'll vaabir bic2

Before Fionnuala can reply to Buf a gravelly voice comes from somewhere below the Skid Lid Sizzler's counter, "Did I hear you correctly, sister? The great Buf Fett, the man, the myth is to see that we and the brave Legends we go forth to fight with shall be fortified with hearty fare from the famous Skid Lid Sizzler?"
Fionnula, looking down to see one of the few Mando'ade she had met that is smaller than she, Conaodh Rodarch of House Bralor - a diminiutive male of Bimm ancestry with a shaggy mop of brown curls and a wild brown and grey goatee - smiles as she nods and confirms that he has the truth of it, "You heard correctly, Con, Buf has . . ."
Holding his arms aloft, Conaodh declares, "YEEEESSSS!!!! And then, struck by inspiration, asks Buf, But, why, brother, stop with merely a few dishes? Come with us, brother! Come and serve your glorious, fortifying fare in the galley of the Victores, regal us with your artistry in the culinary arts to fill our hearts as you fill our bellies before we go off to stand against the . . ."
Interrupting Conaodh's rallying speech with an apologetic smile to Buf, Fionnuala tells the Bimm, "Buf has sworn off war, Con, and I wouldn't ask him to . . ."
Conaodh, undaunted by Fionnuala's protests, hops atop the Skid Lid Sizzler's countertop, causing a few patrons to step back and give him odd looks, says at the top of his voice, "Surely that is Buf's choice to make, sister? Addressing the line of customers, Conaodh says, Good Imperial friends, noble Agamarians, brave Mando'ade! Lend me your ears! I stand before you to ask that you sacrifice, if our brother Buf is willing to answer the call, The Skid Lid Sizzler's delights for a month, a year, or howsoever long it takes us to defeat the vile Plague Lord that has set himself against the Mando'ade!
If we are and our Legendary allies, Captain Dice and his battle hardened Clones, are mark’d to die, we are enow To do fair Manda'yaim loss; and if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of honour. Kad Ha'rangir’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more than the good chef Buf should he agree to join us. By Arasuum, I am not covetous for credits, Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost; It yearns me not if men my weapons bear; Such outward things dwell not in my desires: But if it be a sin to covet honour, I am the most offending Mando'ade alive. No, faith, my brothers and sisters, wish not a man from Manda'yaim: Arasuum’s idleness! I would not lose so great an honour As one Mando'ade more, methinks, would share from me For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more than Buf! Rather proclaim it, Agamar, through my host, That he which hath no stomach to this fight, Let him depart; his passport shall be made And credits for convoy put into his purse: We would not die in that Mando'ade’s company That fears his fellowship to die with us. He or she that outlives the battle to come, and returns safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when the battle with the Plague Lord is remembered, And rouse him at the name of Buf, who fed our bellies and maybe even fought beside us. He that shall live after the battle's end, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say ‘To-morrow is the feast of our victory against the Plague Lord:’ Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars. And say ‘These wounds I had in battle against our vile foe, my belly full with the good chef Buf's hearty fare.’ Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he’ll remember with advantages What feats he did that day: then shall our names, familiar in his mouth as household words Buf the Master Chef, the beautiful and fierce Fionnuala, Conaodh and Harini, Captain Dice and Lieutenant Acklay, Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d. This story shall the good man teach his son; From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember’d; We few, we happy few, we band of vod'e; For he or she that sheds his blood with me in the fight to come Shall be my vod; be he ne’er so vile, Our battle against the Plague Lord shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in Manda'yaim now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us, or fortified our bellies as we set forth against the Plague Lord!
Fionnnuala, resting her head in her palms, shakes her head as Conaodh turns to face Buf, grinning madly as he lifts his arms overhead and asks the Master Chef, What say you, good Buf of Clan Fett? Will you come with us as House Bralor and whatever allies we can find among the other Clans go forth with Captain Dice and the Legends cast ahead in time at our sides to stand shoulder to shoulder and back to back against the dastardly Plague Lord and his vile minions?"

Before he could go back to serving customers, Conaodh had appeared from beneath the counter and requested Buf join the mission that Fionnuala and Clan Bralor were about to embark upon with the time displaced Clones. For her part, Fionnuala did try and dissuade her Clansman from further pushing the point. It had been so long ago since he had last taken up blade and blaster to fight in a war. But he was no less dangerous now than he was then. Some things never leave you, his skills were one of them.
He took a step back and leaned against one of the bench tops as Conaodh mounted the customer counter top and quickly launched into a song that was as much a plea as it was meant to bribe him. That feeling he'd had moments ago quickly returning in the pit of his stomach. He had a bad feeling about the danger that lay ahead, but he would be lying if he said he could rest happily after turning such a request down. He pushed himself off the counter he was leaning against and moved close to Fee and Con After being regaled by such a song? It would take a very lowly mando'ade to deny such a request after all of that... I suppose I might be able to join along as a chef. Can't have you all starving before or while you fight this Plague Lord...

Conaodh, ignoring the fact that Fionnuala looks less than pleased that Buf has agreed to join House Bralor and Captain Dice in their quest as their chef, pumps his fists in the air as he rumbles out a gravelly, "ELLLLEEEKK, vod! Jate jag! * Hopping down off the countertop, the spirited Bimm tells Buf, We set out tomorrow! Meet us at the Mandalorian Embassy at dawn! Grinning merrily, still oblivious to Fionnuala's displeasure, Conaodh points at her and says, You can thank me later, sister! Sketching Buf a salute, Conaodh says, Tomorrow, vod, vi set dayn par te kote bal ijaat par Manda'yaim!" **
Shaking her head as Conaodh heads off shouting at random passersby of the glorious mission he and his comrades are about to embark upon, Fionnuala tells Buf in a sad tone, "Ni cuy' ni ceta, vod, *** I never wanted you to break your vow, trying to smile she jokes weakly, I should have decked him when he hopped up on that counter. Sighing, not one to let regret for what has already been decided take hold of her for long, Fionnuala points at Buf and warns him sternly, You're staying in the galley no matter what happens, tion'suvarir?" ****
* YES, brother! Good man! ** we set out for the glory and honor of Mandalore! *** I am sorry, brother **** understand?

He pulled out a cloth and got to work immediately cleaning the spot that Conaodh vacated upon the counter, his attention shifting only after he was sure the spot was clean and Fionnuala started to apologise before giving him a stern warning. He smiled behind his mask, grateful for her concern You have nothing to be sorry for. Some of our vod are very enthusiastic and will not take a no for an answer, no matter what... He leaned against his side of the counter opposite Fee then Besides, some vows are meant to be broken, for the right reasons and people... He pushed himself back from the counter and tossed the cloth over his shoulder I was always told to never make a girl a promise, if I knew I couldn't keep it... But I'll do my best to try.

Fionnuala smiles when Buf reassures her that she has nothing to be sorry for, laughing when he points out some Mando'ade are simply enthusiastic, to which she begrudgingly admits, "Conadh's kar'ta cuyir o'r te staabi taap," 1 as she knows the Bimm's spirited attempt to sway Buf to join them had been borne from a love of Manda'yaim and a fevrent desire to defend it all costs.
Waving a hand to dismiss the notion that, as she believes Buf's assertion that some people are worth breaking vows for was in reference to her, Fionnuala crinkles her nose and grins as she tells him, "Ni cuy' not jate luubid par gar, bal ni cuy' not jate luubid at shukur gar miit, vod, adding in a serious tone, a ni cuy' briikase gar kelir cuyir ti mhi." 2
Arching an eyebrow in playful consternation when Buf says that he will try to keep the promise she extracted from him to stay in the galley no matter what might come in the days or months ahead, Fionnuala tells him in a playfully stern tone that doesn't quite match the seriousness in her eyes suggesting she is set on seeing that coming up with hearty fare for a ship full of Clones and Mando'ade is the only challenge Buf faces, "Gar jate'shya, ner kar'taylir darasuum." 3
Sighing as she sees Buf's customers are beginning to give her annoyed looks that are becoming more annoyed the longer she takes up her friend's attention, Fionnuala presses the fingertips of both her hands to her lips and, after kissing them with a loud smack, blows the kisses to Buf as she says in a pitch perfect wistful tone, "At kis'wa cuyir jate trikar, then smiles brightly as she backs away and points the fingers of both hands at him as she bids him farewell by way of reminding him of how soon they will see one another again, Nakar'tuur, ner jate burc'ya," 4 and then turns as the crowds of Buf's waiting customers surge forth around her to place their orders before the beloved chef of Calna Muun is taken from them for however long it takes for the Plague Lord to be defeated.
1 heart is in the right place 2 I am not good enough for you, and not worth breaking your vow, brother . . . but am glad you will be with us 3 You better, my love 4 Parting is such sweet sorrow . . . Tomorrow, my dear friend

Despite his expressionless mask, Buf's stance helped signal to others his feelings and mood. He was grateful to see her smile even against her begrudging admission regarding Conaodh. He then reached up and did something few had ever seen: the top plate of his Buy'ce detached like a hat being removed as he spun and brought it down to hold across his chest. His head bowing forward a little as he also bent forward slightly at his waist bic cuyir ni tion'ad cuyir ures ruusaanyc be vod bid mesh'la1 He flipped the hat piece back up and replaced it back upon his helmet, the locking mechanism engaging once more to keep it in place. He tipped his head and hat to her in acknowledgement of her command he better do his best to try stick to the kitchen. As she blew the kiss to him, he reached out his hand and "caught" it and pulled his hand to his chest across his heart Ret'urcye mhi akay nakar'tuur2 It was indeed always bittersweet to part from Fionnuala, but he could manage until tomorrow as he turned his focus back to the crowd. Without skipping a beat he turned back to the next customers and noted their orders down with rapidity and was already tossing ingredients down onto the grill at the same time. The sound of sizzling food could be heard over the surging crowd whilst the aroma's wafted out on the air. He suspect the rest of the day would be busy as people fought to get their last taste of his cooking before he left

There were few parts of the Empire untouched by the ongoing civil war. Thanks, in part, to the loyal elements of Mandalorians that shared the world, a potential mutiny by a Stormtrooper unit was prevented and the officers arrested by the command of the Moff and the likewise Mandalorian Governor. There had been rumblings on the Imperial side of Calna Muun that certainly raised eyebrows and alarms. What had helped with this was the neutral agency of Imperial Intelligence. In accordance with the last wishes of the late Emperor, they had uncovered the plot early before it took root and corrupted others to join them. The Moff of Agamar received an encrypted message as well as his associate on the Mandalorian side. Working together, the unit was defanged quickly and the potential of war on the relatively peaceful world averted. Agamar would be needed, spoke the Moff at a rally shortly after the plot was disarmed. Agamar's fields and people would be needed in the era to come, once the Emperor Octavian had won and the nation brought to peace once more. And yet, what would the Empire look like afterwards? Would it still be the legacy of Nicademus Delvardus... or something new entirely?
