The Training Wing of the temple was quite an advanced step up from those of the former Jedi Base, as well as more properly divided by purpose. They did, of course, possess several combat training rooms, complete with sparring droids, spare weapons, and adjustable terrain, along with holographic visual filters and weather controls to simulate various environments.
There were other combat training courses of a more specialized nature. On the simpler spectrum were a handful of shooting ranges for those who preferred or dabbled in firearms. These came with adjustable settings, ranging from simple still targets to various movement patterns, whether set or random, at differing speeds. If looking for further challenge, the ranges could be converted into a battle zone simulation, providing cover while the targets even returned fire.
On the more complex end, there was the zero gravity training room. A more unique style of training room suited for simulating rarer combat situations, such as on the hull of a spaceship. Access to this room was restricted; only Knights and Masters were allowed access, or those accompanied by one.
The training wing wasn't all dedicated to combat, however. Some simpler facilities included a running track and a gym, for honing one's physical prowess. As well there was an obstacle course room, fully customizable with all sorts of hindrances, platforms, and hazards, all with their own adjustable settings. One room even housed a large pool, fit for both recreation and even underwater training. The facilities were also equipped with a central set of locker rooms and showers, for changing into appropriate training gear and washing off after an intense training session.

Mark inspected his hardwood stick carefully for a moment, checking to make sure everything was in place. This would turn out to be yet another lesson on attachments and letting go, but it would be worth it. His father, Kaibur Malice, had given him the hardwood stick long ago. It was the primary thing he had to remember his father by. To modify it was a difficult decision to make. It was his weapon when he was a child, given to him to defend himself. And he would continue to defend himself with it now. It had been cut down to roughly half its length and hollowed out on the inside to a great degree, but the hardwood only remained stronger as a result.
Looking inside his old hollowed stick, Mark saw everything to be secure. He screwed on a plasteel protective cap around the top of his stick and stood up, holding it firmly in his hands. With a satisfying clash, a beautifully radiant green beam emanated from the stick, gleaming brightly from his matching green eyes that he inherited from his father and glowing off of his shiny yet shadowy dark hair he inherited from his mother, Aria Shadows. The green blade also matched the pommel, a green stone that his father had originally placed on the old stick when he gave it to him. Marks lips curved to a slight smile in satisfaction as the blade hummed its deadly musical tones echoing around the room.
He postured himself into the Shi-Cho opening position, and began to carefully practice the very basic moves he knew; his green eyes glowing with determination.

*Even as a Jedi Knight, Michelle often found her way into the training area to hone her skills even further. Being Knighted was an incredible honor, especially having earned it at a younger age than many, but she wasn't done yet. Not until she was eventually named a Master. And even past then...
But something caught her eye as she entered: A certain young boy in one of the training rooms. What was unusual was the weapon he carried, some kind of wooden implement. She watched as he seemingly modified it, until at last triggering a lightsaber blade. Her eyebrows flickered upward and she smirked, stepping forward into the training room as he began moving through basic motions.*
"That's a unique lightsaber," *she said.* "Not satisfied by the norm, are you?"

Mark didn't notice anyone enter the room so he gave a little start when he heard a voice. He turned around to see a young woman approaching him. He didn't really know her very well but he had seen her around the temple before, and in the training area as well. From what the boy could tell, she was a very talented Jedi Knight. He smiled softly, masking the longing underneath. The boy missed his mother and father, and while it was great to have something to remember him by, it would never come close to actually seeing his father again. Mark disengaged his blade; the sound tearing him away from his wandering thoughts.
"I made it from the old stick I've had since I was little. My dad gave it to me. I couldn't use anything else, so I turned it into a lightsaber."
Mark perked up a bit feeling proud of his accomplishment. He carefully showed the hilt off to the Jedi Knight so that she could get a good look at his handiwork.

*Michelle smiled as she approached, leaning down to get a closer look at the weapon. As the boy explained its origins, genuine smile came to her lips. Standing up straight again, she said,* "That's a wonderful way to reuse something important to you. It even works, too!" *With a quick motion, her own lightsaber flew from her belt and smacked into her palm. She tweaked the power setting to low before thumbing the activation trigger, the blue blade coming to life as she took up a defensive position, smile once again becoming a smirk.* "Care to show me what you know?"

Well ok then. This Jedi clearly loves to spar. Mark made a mental note of that. In truth, he did not know much. He was studying the very basics of Shi-Cho, but he did not have a formal master yet. But after successfully completing his lightsaber, the boy was feeling emboldened. He stood fast, quickly switching his lightsaber to the lowest intensity as well before igniting it. A flash of green met the Jedi Knights blue casting aquamarine glows about the training room. He pulled his arms back and held his lightsaber parallel to his side in classic Shi-Cho fashion and met the Jedi Knights gaze; a smirk of determination now creeping onto his own face. Quickly, he swung a basic Shi-Cho wide right-side attack while stepping forward slightly with his right foot to keep balance, hoping his speed would take her off guard. But his technique was understandably quite sloppy.

*The boy's surprise at her challenge was only momentary before he became suddenly determined. His stance of choice was Shii-Cho; unsurprising. His first maneuver, predictable. As Michelle took a step back with her left foot while her saber came down to meet his, she took the briefest moment to consider her plan: Merely catch his blade and allow him to continue, or strike back to see how good his defense was? Personal bias towards her own intensive training took over and, as the blades collided, she parried his blow upward before bringing her blade down towards his shoulder.*

Mark was not surprised by her move, but would his skills be able to match hers? He brought his lightsaber upwards, hard, to meet her parry and block his shoulder from being hit. At the same time he tilted his head out of the way of her blade and dodged to the right before ducking into an evasive roll. He jumped back onto his feet, feeling super confident at his success, with adrenaline coursing through him. He prepared himself to ready another attack when... hold on a minute, something wasn't right. He looked down awkwardly into his now empty hands. The Jedi Knight had disarmed him. Somewhere between the counter attack and the dodge he must have lost his grip. Mark looked over to see his hilt had flown half way across the room.
Sighing somewhat frustratedly, he reached out with the Force to pull his lightsaber back to him. He stood there awkwardly in dismay as his lightsaber slowly rolled back to him at an absolute crawling pace before finally bouncing off his foot after what seemed like an eternity. He awkwardly leaned down to pick up his lightsaber and then looked over at the Jedi Knight with an awkward grin.
"Uh... heh... oops. Um... you wanna go again?"
The boy asked, shaking off his embarrassment and with a bit of a spark back in his eyes. He repositioned himself in the Shi-Cho opening position, facing his opponent, holding his thumb on the ignition switch of his lightsaber.

*The boy seemed to know the basics, not being surprised by her counterattack and parrying with a dodge. His grip, however, needed some work, for his weapon disappeared from his hands between moves. Similarly, he seemed to have a... frankly embarrassing grasp of telekinesis. Surprising, considering how well he had evaded that move up until his weapon slipped from his hands. Smirking to herself and choosing not to wait for him, she extended her weapon as he stooped down to pick up the lightsaber. When he stood, he would find a blue blade at his throat.*
"Better learn how to hold onto that blade," *she warned,* "or you'll find yourself on the wrong end of one."

Nearly as soon as he stood up and his last words escaped his lips, Mark found himself face to face with the point of a very hot lightsaber blade. Heeding what the Jedi Knight had to say, he blinked a few times, as nodding would likely be a painful thing to do with her blade this close to him. He took her response as a 'yes'. She was right, after all. In a real fight, he could have been killed right then and there. He needed to develop a more clear grasp on telekinesis. Out there, in the real world, a Jedi Knight couldn't afford to lose their lightsaber so easily, let alone struggle so much to pull it back to themselves. That could be the difference between life and death.
He took a step back and then, moving quickly, he maneuvered his lightsaber hilt to position it underneath her blade while simultaneously igniting it. The beam of green flashed into action perpendicular to hers and all in one swift motion, he swung it upward hard to clash with her bright blue blade intending to push it away from him. He leaned his torso in a bit and tried, if room allowed, to take a slight step forward to help him leverage the upward strike, but would it be enough strength to achieve the desired result?

*He seemed to take the advice to heart... but not before attempting to push her blade away. Without even moving her feet, she withdrew her weapon, clearing his own's path, before turning her arm and striking at his hip, hoping to take advantage of his likely loss of balance. Just as she completed this move, something caught her attention, her senses picking up a presence inside the temple. A familiar, beloved presence. It almost gave her pause, but she held steady, following her own advice she had just given the boy.
She certainly had half a mind to wrap up this training session sooner rather than later, however.*

Mark fell forward, completely losing his balance when the Jedi Knight disengaged her lightsaber. As he fell forward he saw her lightsaber swinging towards his hip from the corner of his eye. But being a kid had its advantages. He was still short and nimble, so he was able to dive into his fall and tuck into a roll again relatively easily, making sure to disengage his lightsaber as he evaded the swing of her blade. The Jedi Knight was faster than he expected though as he was almost certain the tip of her lightsaber grazed his foot as he rolled out of the way. This was confirmed as he hopped back up on his feet, his left foot stinging a bit and a strange electrical feeling going up his leg. He stamped on it awkwardly as he lit up his lightsaber again, in Shii-Cho form. He frowned slightly. If this had been a real fight, he could have lost his foot there. He still had much to learn. But he remained determined. He did not notice her apparent distraction.

*He tried to be quick, but wasn't quick enough, as her strike landed regardless. The stinging sensation would be a lesson in and of itself, but it wasn't enough in Michelle's opinion. Lowering her blade and shaking her head, she said,* "You were 'dead' when my blade was at your throat. Unless the enemy was stupid and gloated while doing so." *With a smirk, she added,* "And what I did doesn't count because I'm trying to teach you. However, even if they did gloat, you don't go for the blade! Get out of the way and, if you must attack, aim for the body; force them to defend themselves!"
*Clearly this boy needed more practice, but at the same time, she needed to investigate her senses. Glancing aside, she gestured towards a control panel, resulting in a training droid activating and being released into the combat arena. Looking back at the boy, she said,* "Don't worry, it's on easy. You might want to refresh yourself on the basics a bit... and learn better weapon handling. I need to go check on something. If I'm not back shortly... well, I'm sure we'll cross paths again soon." *Heading for the exit, she looked over her shoulder to say,* "Bye for now, kid," *before stopping briefly to add,* "Oh. Name's Michelle, if you need to look me up. Anyway, I'm off!"
*With that, she departed the training wing and began to follow the presence.*

’But aren’t Jedi supposed to fight defensively?’ he thought to himself as Michelle departed the training wing. He didn’t have too much time to think about it though as the training droid she activated approached him, brandishing a training saber. He decided to take Michelle’s advice to heart. As the droid prepared for an overhead strike, the boy swung hard towards the droids side, and struck true. It seemed almost too easy... Michelle did say she set the droid to easy mode, but something else was wrong. The droid instantly began to spark and short upon the impact and fell onto the ground of the training arena. It was then the boy realized his lightsabers intensity setting must have gotten affected during the fight. He hit the droid with a full beam... he immediately disengaged his saber and stared at the damaged droid lying on the ground with a dismembered leg next to it, making strange noises from its vocabulator...
“Oops...”

Jair entered their training wing to inspect what he heard were some strange noises coming from the area earlier before he had haphazardly crashed the Calmcacil’s family reunion. It did not take him long to spot the source of the sound. A training droid lay on the ground in bad shape. It’s leg was detached and it had severe burn damage. A Padawan he recognized was futilely attempting to re-attatch the severed leg much to the damaged droid’s garbled protests. Its vocabulator must have been jolted loose from the impact. He approached the boy and the droid quickly, but casually.
“Here, let me help you with that.”
He flipped a switch on the back of the droids head and it deactivated, ceasing to make any sounds.
“That’ll make things easier. You ok? What happened?”

Mark stuttered nervously, figuring he would be in trouble for sure.
“I-it was an accident I swear. I don’t know what happened I thought my lightsaber was set to stun but when I hit it-“

“Relax, kid, relax. It’s ok. This type of thing happens all the time.”
Jair interrupted the boy with a bit of a bemused smirk.
“And I asked if you were alright, not the droid.”

“Oh...”
The boys face eased into an expression of relief before answering the Jedi’s question.
“Uh, yeah I’m ok.”
Mark looked down at his lightsaber with a slight frown.
“Something’s wrong with my lightsaber though.”
Mark tilted his head up to meet the gaze of the Jedi for the first time since he had entered the room.

As soon as the boys eyes met his, Jair immediately recognized him.
“Mark! I’m sorry, in the commotion I almost didn’t recogn-“
Jair could not finish his sentence before a vision engulfed him... those same dark surroundings, just like in his dreams. And for some reason the boy triggered this vision. He just knew it. Could it have something to do with the boys mother? Jair often dwelled on her, and where she had vanished to... Was there a connection between her vanishing and his lapse in memory? The boys voice caused him to snap back to reality as the strange visions faded.

Why did the Jedi stop talking? And why was he standing there staring like he was in a stupor or something? Now it was the boys turn to ask.
“Uh... sir... are you ok...?”
