Before he could blink Mariah was on her feet and looking as if she would draw her lightsaber at any moment. He readied himself just Incase anything went down. Though it seemed Mariah stood her ground for the time being. But there was something that Rayanelle said that caught the Jedi’s attention.
“She found peace... but... how...”
This didn’t make sense. At least, it didn’t line up with the very disconcerting connection he felt with her briefly on Nar Shaddaa, where her presence was wreathed within darkness.
“Did she not embrace the dark side?”
Jair asked her, genuinely, as that was what everything had pointed to so far. And the idea of finding any sort of peace while being immersed in the dark side was a scenario so foreign to him; nay, it was an impossibility. And it was not simply his Jedi teachings that influenced this belief, this truth, but his own personal experiences with the dark side. He almost fell to it, more than once. It was the very antithesis of peace.

Mariah felt the stinging pain all throughout her body, as if there was some curse laced within this woman’s words. She refused to show that weakness, but she couldn’t remain on the offensive in this case. Her own words came back to haunt her, singing a mocking lullaby in her head. This woman had done a great deed for the Family, and for that, she was an ally. Just like Valance. Even if she could not tolerate these allies for much longer, she had no choice but to endure and stay her blade. However, she refused to settle back into her seat. Her eyes shot Jair a warning gaze. Their time here was nearing an end.
Rayanelle sighed softly and nodded her head towards Jair in answer to his question. "She claimed to have embrace it, yes... although she refused to call it that... 'the Dark Side'..." Her eyes glanced away for a moment as she stared into her tea for a moment, as if somehow, the past memories would play within the liquid's surface, giving her a deeper understanding to those past conversations with the enigmatic woman. "She would only say that she walked as the Force asked of her." Her gaze lifted momentarily, glancing towards Mariah, who she had hoped would hold more answers. However, after the entirety of this interraction, she knew that this elder Shadows offered even less. "Come to think of it... she never seemed to answer any of my questions at all, when I tried to understand... She always spoke so cryptically...”
With this woman's even brief explanation, Mariah readied herself to leave. Aria may have spoken cryptically, but there was still something about the woman's explanation didn't sit well with her. Snatching away the jewelry and small trinkets from the table, she placed them in her pouch. When all was gathered from the table, the last was that chest, to which she planned to deal with once this whole suicidal mission was done and over with. However, as she touched the chest, something stayed her hand, and the violence in the woman dissipated eerily and instantaneously. Paralyzed, Mariah was motionless, to the point where even her breathing stopped, as if the wind was kicked out of her.

Jair listened to what Rayanelle had to say, but the main question still reeled in his mind. How did this woman sense peace in her? It was something he couldn’t wrap his mind around because his brushes with darkness only brought pain. How pain could equate to peace, Jair had no notion of. But he didn’t have time to question further, as Mariah was appearing restless. He observed her moving towards the chest in the room and noticed her freeze, rather oddly. After a moment, he checked to see if everything was ok.
“What is it? ... Mariah? Are you ok?”
He looked back over to Rayanelle.
“What’s happening?”

Truth be told, had Jair continued to press his question, Rayanelle had no answer for him. As she had said, Aria spoke so cryptically about her path and her journey within the Force. Rayanelle was never much of a religious type, although she had acknowledged the presence of the Force. She wished she could give Jair answers that he could understand and comprehend, but how could an old woman grant a Jedi that, with her only delving into this world be with a young, enigmatic woman. Her worries washed away with a new concern as Mariah froze in place and as Jair asked another question she couldn’t answer.
“What is this?” Mariah snapped back through clenched teeth before she gasped in a breath of air. Despite the harshness in her desperate tones, a peace enveloped the woman with such a stunning and powerful aura. However, Mariah clearly attempted to reject it, which only sent another wave of serenity through her, causing the woman to buckle over in some odd twist of pain.
"I don't know..." It was a mystery to all three of them, but as Rayanelle felt that flooding presence in her home, an idea sparked, and determination set within her emerald orbs. “Jair, dear,” she said quietly, yet rushed. “She claimed that her Jedi training aided her in the balance of her path. I don’t know what that meant, but…” Rayanelle glanced back over at Mariah, still statuesque in a violent war within her presence. “...it must be tied to this. She stressed that it was important for her sister to retrieve it…”
"What damned tricks did the Jedi teach her?" Mariah snarled as she attempted to physically pry herself away, but the harder she tried, the more evident those magics became, chaining her in place and washing over Mariah with that continuous waterfall of serenity that nearly drowned her. The Dark Side was the very antithesis of peace, perhaps, but even so, peace, in itself, was a powerful weapon against those who attempted to shun it. "She wouldn't dare..."
“Mariah,” Rayanelle whispered in soothing tones, “please stop your struggling and just try to relax for a moment. Jair,” she turned back to the Jedi, her composure befuddled and confused, but she still held on tight to that air of surety in this idea. “I don’t know what training might have helped Aria… but I’m hoping you may hold that key…”

Jair felt the waves of tranquility pulsate through him as well. This was strange. It was certainly not a bad or dangerous feeling, but who or what was causing it? That much didn’t make sense. But within the very recent past it was not the first time the Force manifested in mysterious ways, so there must have been something of importance to this.
“I won’t pretend to know exactly what’s going on here... but if you are sensing the same thing I am, I wouldn’t fight it. The Force seems to be trying to show us... to tell us something.”
Jair reached out to this mysterious peaceful wave through the Force, trying to feel it with his instincts and a quieted mind. The very nature of it helped enable him to do so despite the circumstances.
“There are things the Force tells us that we won’t hear unless we quiet our mind and meditate on them. Don’t try to fight it or manipulate it, for the Light does not work in that manner, and if it is Ashla that speaks to you, such an action will forfeit your meditation to Bogan. And then you might miss the true intent...”
Jair must have sounded like such a typical Jedi to Mariah. He had his doubts whether she would be willing to give whatever this manifestation was a chance, but, he felt it was important enough to try as the more he meditated on it, the more he felt the sense that this was at least just as much for Mariah’s benefit as it was for his.

At this point, Mariah had already exerted herself in attempts to fight it. As Rayanelle instructed, she ceased her violent attempts, even if she felt a powerful dissonance disrupt the very core of her being. Through gritted teeth, she attempted to keep her body from squirming, from fighting, despite everything in her mind that screamed at her to find any way of breaking free. With Jair’s instructions, she had no other option but to try to meditate deeper. She still refused to believe that Aria would’ve dared to do such a thing -- or even that she even could. The spell that chained her in place was one she was all too familiar with. However, the ability to then summon light in addition to a spell that harnessed the darker essences of the Force? Impossible…
Aria was known to achieve the impossible, though.
It took extreme focus to even breath, let alone try to open herself up to Ashla, or whatever title the Jedi had given this power of Light within the Force. Still, through gritted teeth, Mariah tried to quiet her body, mind, and soul, enough so that the painful static that screamed in her being would quiet. Seconds felt like minutes; minutes felt like hours. She could only allow it to work as the Force allowed, though, and continue to try to meditate on Its workings that persisted its way in such a concentrated form. If the Jedi was correct, the Force would reveal the truth to this puzzle. After a few moments in silence, It did, and the peace that wrapped itself around Mariah took on a new form, the workings of a familiar presence. A revelation that would be understood by all three of them.
There was a fourth place of rest, left unoccupied until this moment, but a familiar face to all three appeared as Mariah’s soul settled and allowed Ashla to flow through her. It was a faint picture of her, and her presence was felt nowhere within it, as it still wrapped itself around Mariah like a conduit. The way this figure conducted herself, it was clear that this was not her ghost, but rather a mere projection of herself, a memory in the Force during her life. Still, she offered a warm smile, and although her eyes shimmered with gold and muddled with bloody hues, there was still an odd warmth in the ember colors.
Mariah, if you've unlocked this message... I’m proud of you.
Rayanelle only stared, wide-eyed. As much as she wanted to take care of the woman who channeled this message, the ethereal grace of this lost friend, sitting again in her home like times past, she couldn’t break her gaze away. “Aria…” she whispered. The woman blinked a few times, her vision blurred by the tears that welled up in her eyes. She reached out to try and touch the projection, her hand meeting nothing as it flowed through the figure.

The soothing waves continued unabated and then, something shifted in the room. This was it! Mariah unlocked it! But before Jair could become too enthused with this welcome surprise, he saw her. He saw Aria. Everything he was focused on before was forgotten. All he could see was her shimmering golden eyes and her warm smile. All he heard was her soothing voice like a crystal. His eyes grew wide in a pure, deep longing. Jair rose up from his seat and approached her, noticing Rayanelle did the exact same thing. He watched as she reached out, but then Arias image began to fade. Almost instinctively he called out to her.
“Aria... Wait!”
But she was gone, and Jair realized it was not her spirit there. Merely seeing her image had stirred him to the point where he didn’t pay attention to the fact that her signature was never present there in the room the entire time. His face fell in dismay.
“It was only a projection...”
Jair knelt down to the floor, with tears of his own. Seeing her again stirred up so many emotions in him, even though it was just a projection. Perhaps he wasn’t ready for that yet. He took a moment to compose himself before standing back up and facing the two women in the room.
“But not for much longer.”
After composing himself, he was renewed with determination again. He was certain the next time he would see her would be for real. And he was absolutely bent on being successful in his mission.
“Soon we will all see her agai-“
Jair stopped himself short. He almost said too much in front of Rayanelle. It wasn’t that his mission was some big secret to her, but, he didn’t want to scare her with the details. He turned his attention now to Mariah. He did not know how she was reacting to all of this. Undoubtedly it had to have been a shock to her.

Mariah could hear her voice, so crystal clear, gentle yet it roared over the two other voices of those in the room with her. It caused the woman to waver in this meditation, so that just as Rayanelle touched the projection, it fizzled. An ungodly screaming in her head heralded the dissonance in her soul once more. Mariah visibly winced, but with a determination in her eyes, she pushed back against darkness within her.
“Shut it, Jedi,” she snarled, such a violent sound considering that she was trying to harness and channel the peace that Aria had somehow laced within this lock. “She left more… I know it.”
Rayanelle hesitated, her eyes glancing back and forth between Jedi and Shadows. Although it was easy to quiet the teary hope and surprised that overwhelmed her, Jair’s words sent a concerning shiver down her spine. Her eyes watched him, especially carefully, but just as she was about to push the topic, Mariah had yet again managed to quiet the dark waters of her soul, and unleashed the light that Aria had intertwined with her runes.
Again, that memorable figure formed, in that same spot, her figure flickering as she continued on with this message, starting up right where she left off. As Mariah struggled, the figure grew hazier, weaker, and her voice felt distant. Yet as she managed to somehow allow the Light to channel more effortlessly through her, Aria’s figure became more clear before them, her words sounding as real as though she sat in the same room with them.
You’re probably wondering… why did I do this to you? I can see your face now… Angry… Frustrated with me… as you always had been…. but I wanted to remind you… We grew up with deeper understandings of the Force than most younglings… As we grew, the Force guided us to choose separate paths... One walked with the Light... the other with the Dark… Our paths unfortunately led us to unlearn our lessons... to shun the other side.... but you imparted in me that knowledge I was missing… You reminded me all that I was taught in that path… and with it… with both pieces... I was able to discover things… things I never imagined had possible... Now, it is my turn to return the favor, sister...
Abruptly, the serenity which flowed through Mariah exploded and bathed the entire room. It was a wonder that she was able to handle it. Perhaps she couldn’t. However, it was no longer a matter of Mariah’s meditations. This had taken on a life of its own now, using her whether she could handle it or not. She neither cried out nor flinched, though, her body standing firm as sheer concentrations of the light side poured through her.
Remember Mother’s teachings, Mariah… Remember your missing piece...
That seemed to be the final parts Aria’s message, her projection fading as her echoed words faded, too, into silence, and with them, the Light followed. There was nothing but the stillness of what was before, made eerie by the knowledge of what had just come to pass.
Mariah’s hand finally slipped free from the chest. She still stood, if but in a daze, in a dream-state. She appeared like a shell of a woman, clearly overcome and overwhelmed by what had just come to pass. Unable to speak or move, it took several beats before she even took in her first breath. The moment the air filled her lungs, though, she collapsed backwards, startling Rayanelle from her own dazed shock.
As Mariah teetered, Rayanelle was there, though, grabbing ahold of the other woman and guiding her back into her chair. She was reminded so quickly how cryptic Aria was, but she would have never imagined what she was capable of, what she planned to transpire. Had she have known, perhaps this encounter would have gone very differently. “Jair, could you grab some water?” she asked, brushing Mariah’s crimson hair from her face. “Hurry… please…”

Jair was even more surprised at Mariah’s response, and ability to unlock even more of the message. He did not suspect that there was any more there. Sure enough Arias form appeared again. Though he knew now that it was only a projection, his heart still skipped a beat and his eyes welled up again. He just... stared, but he very quickly became puzzled. What was she talking about? Where did she stand? He could not resonate with her message. It was an enigma to him.
As the projection faded he witnessed Mariah collapse. Without a word he nodded to Rayanelle and went quickly to retrieve water. His return was swift.
“Here... take this.”
He gave her the goblet of water in haste, and then himself leaned down to make sure she was alright. It was at this moment it began to register to him just how dangerous his mission was going to be. This did not stop him though. He had more questions now than before. And any remote chance of Aria being in Chaos was a chance he was not at peace with.

"Thank you."
Rayanelle grasped the goblet, first using the cuff of her sleeve to dab some of the water onto Mariah’s face in hopes of luring out of unconsciousness. At the very least she was breathing. The older woman had a feeling being so near to this one might have consequences when she awoke, but if she truly was Aria’s sister, she would take that risk, no matter how close to violence this woman had been before.
"I don’t know why Aria trusted me with all that she did," she murmured softly, her brow furrowed in her confusion. "Maybe it’s because she knew that when this day came, I wouldn’t let you do something stupid that would get yourself killed, more than likely because her, at that."
Although she was talking to Mariah, who still lied limp in her arms, Rayanelle’s green eyes glanced up towards Jair. She watched him, her gaze still lending cautiousness as she had before, like she meant those words for him just as much. She hadn’t forgotten about his earlier statements, although now they were jumbled up within Aria’s voice, those puzzling words she left behind for Mariah. She needed to focus, though; by the look on his face, Jair was just as bewildered by Aria’s final display she left behind. He didn’t have those answers, but there were others he held, answers she needed before she would let these two depart from her home.
"You may have been a friend of Aria's... but you’re not a friend of hers," Rayanelle continued warily, "so answer me truthfully, Jair. Why are you here? Why did you not leave Mariah in Niango to find me alone?"
Her suspicions angered her, much like a mother who discovered her young children making the wrong decisions, decisions they knew better than to make. Her warmth may have been gone, but in her anger, there was a sincere concern for their fate. She hoped her suspicions were drawn off of nothing, and that Jair would give her some reasonable explanation she hadn't considered in the complete chaos of this meeting. But she needed to be sure.
"Why are you helping her?"

“... are you sure you want to know all this?”
Jair sighed. By the look on Rayanelles face it was quite obvious that she did, indeed, want to know. It was whether or not she would be able to handle the gravity of his mission that he was concerned about. Or even, if she might try to stop him. Regardless, he decided it was best to be honest. He decided to start from the beginning.
“I sought out Mariah because I was troubled. I could no longer sense Arias presence in the Force. A mutual... friend, guided me to Mariah and I learned... well, what happened to her.”
Jair stopped for a moment, as if giving her time to prepare for what he had to say next. He knew that no normal person would ever encourage what he was about to attempt.
“But that still did not answer my question... see when we pass on into the Netherworld of the Force, though we cannot sense the living aspect, a persons signature in the Force is not ever fully gone. Nobody ever truly ends, you see. I still couldn’t feel her, at all. But I am aligned with the light. With Ashla. I can only sense those who have passed on through Ashla, into tranquility. I couldn’t sense her.”
Jair kept his gaze locked to Rayanelles, making each point as clear and concise as he could, and showing that his resolve would not be changed.
“It was only after Mariah... she became enraged with me, and a great darkness shrouded her... within and through that darkness, I heard Arias voice. For the first time, and the only time since, I sensed Arias signature within the Force... calling out from the darkness. Once this... this shroud of darkness lifted, I sensed her presence no more.”
Jairs expression softened, as if to try to soften the blow of revealing his mission. Yet his eyes kept their firm and stout resolve, and showed no signs of backing down.
“I have been to the Netherworld once. I was onboard a ship that exploded. A clone soul transfer was completed by a Gray friend of mine, but that was long ago. And a long story. But I saw the Netherworld. Or at least part of it. They call it Harmony. It is Ashla’s realm. Those there can learn to reconnect with the living. As a specter, of course, but a real presence, still. I did this first.”
He gave her a moment to let this vast information sink in before continuing.
“There is another part of the Netherworld... cloaked in the darkness. Chaos is Bogans realm. I didn’t see it.”
If it were possible, his gaze became more intense, and his voice signaled utmost priority and urgency.
“Rayanelle, the fact that I could only sense Arias presence wreathed within the darkness means one thing. Her soul is trapped in Chaos. She is not at peace... who can be, there? I... I am traveling with Mariah because she believes she can help to get me there. My mission is to put myself into a state of near-death in order to temporarily tap into the Netherworld. I will then travel into Chaos just long enough to pull Aria out of there. No more, no less. I think we can both agree she deserves a better fate... another chance... peace...”

Far outside the city, two birds settled down atop a tall tree and looked onward. They sat for a very long time as the sun rose and fell on the horizon. Unmoved and unnoticed, they observed time move back to before there was a settlement here. Further back when a nearby volcano wiped out the landscape. Further back to when unknown creatures roamed a vast Savannah. Further back to when this was a vast ocean.
They looked at one another and time resumed its normal pace.
This doesn't look like the correct time.
No, it doesn't.
There was a long pause, as day turned to night turned to day.
Shall we continue our search?
Aye, after you brother.
The two birds took flight once more and flew higher and higher into the sky until they vanished among the blackness of space.

Rayanelle listened carefully, allowing Jair to say all that he needed to say. She did her best to betray no emotion of disapproval or disappointment as he spoke. She wanted to understand everything. However, her worst fears had been confirmed. This plan that the two of them had, it only spelled out disaster. How could they so easily throw their lives away? That’s what she had convinced herself they were doing in this mad plan.
“...the Fates be damned…”
Rayanelle looked down at the woman who lied her arms. The Jedi’s motives were pure, even if the actions he sought were the most insane and stupid thing she had heard in all her years. To purposefully plunge himself into Chaos for Aria -- it made sense. Were Mariah’s motives just as pure, however? She doubted as much. She knew that the Shadows would risk life and limb for their family, but in all the cryptic words that Aria spoke, there was only one thing she could remember now.
“Even if you made it out from the Netherworld once, do you really think you can be so lucky twice?” she said quietly, keeping an ever-gentle tending to the woman who had yet to wake, “Aria knew her fate. She spoke of Chaos like a friend. It was just another thing I never understood about her. I sometimes think she only said those things so I wouldn’t worry about her.”
She sighed, trying to piece anything together of the cryptic words spoken over a year. If there was anything she could do now, it was try to convince this Jedi that he walked a dangerous line and to somehow talk him back from his projected plan. She was unsure how to do that, though. Aria had an enchanting air about her, that those who met her would love her so dearly, like she somehow cast a spell on each person the moment their eyes met.
“If I could delve into Chaos to save her, too, I would,” she admitted, “but there are some things I know she wouldn’t want of those she cared about. Don’t cast your life away for her. She wouldn’t wish anything ill to happen to either of you...”

“First of all let me be absolutely clear...”
Jair spoke directly and quickly as soon as Rayanelle had finished speaking, almost as if it were an interjection.
“I am not asking Mariah to risk her life. I am not taking her to the Netherworld with me. She is simply going to help send me there. No more, no less.”
Jairs tone softened a bit, now that he had made that point absolutely clear.
“Rayanelle... I didn’t ‘get lucky’ last time. That was a concerted effort from all involved, and it was in alignment with the will of the Force. Otherwise it would not have happened. Luck... there is no such thing.”
Jair sat down, so that he could speak to her more directly. He fully realized that she would not get behind this. Almost nobody would. But he didn’t want to cause unwanted worry.
“The plan is to make it back alive and well, naturally. The worst case scenario, my body could perish. But I would not be trapped in Chaos. As a being aligned with the Light, I would end up in Harmony once again. Remember, life does not end. There is no death, there is only the Force.”
Jairs eyes grew into a very serious expression, however, now.
“I must ask you... and trust that you will not disclose this information with anyone. As I am the only one risking my life, this is my call to make. I do not want to drag anyone else into this at this point. You can understand this, I hope? I do not expect your blessing, nor do I gravitate to your approval. I hope you do not take offense but that is irrelevant to me. That is simply how important this mission is to me.”
Jairs eyes softened again, and looked almost apologetic for having to say what he just did. But it was a necessity.
“You have done a great kindness to us both. And I do not take it for granted. I didnt wish to have it come to explaining everything for I did not want to squander your kindness to us, Miss Rayanelle. Please know that.”
Something about this woman made him want to respect her. And he wanted to make it absolutely clear that no matter how determined he was about his mission, he was simply not going to be a rude guest. Whether she agreed with him or not.

Naturally, Rayanelle didn’t accept the answer Jair gave her. Then again, no answer would suffice as an explanation to this plan. Jair knew that and even spoke of it. It was then that the woman knew she needed to give up this fight. The fire in her eyes dulled as she turned back to tending to the woman who lied motionless in her arms, continuing to dab fresh water over Mariah’s pale face.
“I’ll accept your explanations, dear…” she whispered, defeated. “I just worry about you... and about Mariah’s intentions. If she’s so willing for someone to delve into Chaos to save Aria, why doesn't she go on her own accord...?”
Rayanelle knew better than to believe that Mariah was only doing this to save her sister. While she didn’t understand the sisters’ bond, she knew of Mariah’s feelings for the Jedi. Aria herself spent the last year of her life struggling to make peace with the Jedi. She may have released all vengeful desires against them and moved forward in life without ill will against them, but there were still secrets disclosed that left Rayanelle more than concerned today.
“If you do go through with this… I hope you do find her… for your sake, more than anything else.”
To make it out alive was an anomaly to the woman as it was. To seek death, and then escape it. Even a near-death experience… If the plan was to make it out alive, though, Rayanelle was convinced that Mariah wouldn’t be of use to aid Jair back into the living. Aria, though… If she was the same woman in Chaos as she was in life, she would surely help him reach the land of the living again.
"'There is no death, there is only the Force.'" That odd phrase stuck out to her more than anything else. She had heard it before, like an eerie reminder of the past. "She would say that often... for someone who knew that they'd be suffering in Chaos for the rest of-"
Abruptly pushing herself out of Rayanelle’s arms, Mariah awoke. While she had faltered from her own weakness, the woman recovered in a vicious crouching stance with her hand on the hilt of her saber. There was a predatory look in her eyes as she tried to make out her surroundings, as though she had forgotten where she was and what had come to transpire. In a moment, that startle in her crimson eyes faded, and she stood to her feet with an effortless movement. Her eyes flickered over to Jair as she retrieved the chest.
“We leave. Now.”

Rayanelle did make a good point. But he didn’t want to cast too much doubt on Mariah. After all, she had to have some hope inside of seeing her sister saved from Chaos, surely. And hopefully whatever she experienced with that Force projection would give her some sense of hope for the situation, or dare he think, peace. But it was then that Mariah stirred and interrupted his flow of thoughts. He turned his attention to her.
“Wait... shouldn’t we make sure you’re alright? You passed out pretty hard there.”

It was too perfectly synchronized. Jair's question fell on deaf ears, as the moment his last word resonated in the air, Mariah tumbled yet again. This time was different, though. At least this time, she remained conscious. The crimson haired woman caught herself with her hands yet crumbled to the ground with such a lack of grace or strength, and with it the small chest went clattering. The light was still within her, seizing her physical body as it had before. While the light gripped her in an attempt to chain it into stillness, her body was not so paralyzed as before. As she tried to bolster up enough strength to get back to her feet, Mariah clenched the ground, her fingertips raking into nothing, the floor firm under her fingernails.
Rayanelle had tried to tend to her again as quickly as she had before, but she just couldn’t make it in time. She knelt down beside the younger woman, though, and attempted to hush her pained struggling while helping her back to her feet.
"Stay back..." Mariah snarled, her tone now more like a wounded predator caught in a trap. However, no matter how useless she may be, she accepted help from no one.
Although Rayanelle listened, pulling away to give the fallen woman her space, she kept close to Mariah’s side. "You need to rest a moment longer. Let us help you."
Mariah refused still as she buried the side of her face into Rayanelle's floor and pushed with all of her might to lift herself up. The weight, though -- it felt as though she held the planet in orbit on her back. Her pulse beat loud in her ears; from all of the training to remain calm even in life and death scenarios, it was a sound she thought she had mastered in silencing. Something was different this time. Something felt utterly wrong.
"We need… to le-..."
The light had wreaked havoc within the Darksider. As it faded away, it left a void to be refilled by the natural auras of the Force which her soul harnessed. The darkness yet again rushed through her, choking her words, and now with such an amplified resurgence, shunning every ounce of the light that lingered within her from her earlier attunement. To do so, that darkness almost matched that of her unbridled anger revealed earlier on Nar Shaddaa, perhaps now even more frightening with the woman crumbled on the ground and not in any way in control of it.
Rayanelle could sense a infernal shift, but perhaps not in the magnitude that the Jedi might have. She felt panicked and weary, as though she was staring at death, and with a sudden reasoning she couldn't make sense out of or explain. Rayanelle glanced up at Jair momentarily, again seeking an answer to the phenomenons of the Force she was so clueless about.
Within in the eye of the storm, however, Aria's words flooded into Jair's mind, speaking them with such crystal clarity in his mind alone. She needed him now to remind Mariah of something, no matter how puzzling and cryptic the words might sound in his head. Like a mantra, echoing over and over and over, urging to be spoken aloud again. Words Aria could not speak for herself, words she couldn't break through to her sister while she was in this state.
Remember Mother's teachings...

Jair tensed up as the darkness blasted through the room, but as frightening as it was, he had witnessed it once before... and it had proved to give valuable information, and contact, the last time this had happened. The air grew bone chilling in the room, but he turned to Rayanelle, his breath visible, and simply uttered...
“It’ll be ok... I’ve seen this before. It’s only-“
Something stopped his thoughts in his tracks. It was her voice... Arias voice... again. But this time, it felt real. More tangible. How was this happening? Surely she was communicating through this darkness again. His first instinct was to reach out to her in the Force.
Aria... Aria can you hear me?
But for the moment there was no change in response, but simply the same words repeated themselves. They grew louder and more persistent as well. For a split second Jair wondered why Aria did not respond to his calling, but then he came back to his senses. Mariah could be in danger, and it would have been selfish for him to assume that Aria would make him a priority over her sister in need right now. He quickly and urgently blurred out the words that were echoing in his head.
“Remember mothers teachings!”

Aria’s voice only continued the simple song, those three words. However, as he reached out to her, his words must’ve somehow reached her… Somehow. Still, those three words echoed in his mind, but that sweet song had shifted to something so much more sorrowful. Still begging and pleading, please be my voice. Over and over again. Until he finally spoke them aloud. And with it, there was a sudden, gaping hole of silence in his mind where her little song had once been.
Perhaps what it meant remained a mystery to the other two, but Mariah must’ve taken something from those three words. For a moment, nothing had happened, though. As if the chaos had taken too much of a grasp over her. However, with a few more moments in silence and with a few more slow and steady breaths, she was able to regain control of swirls of darkness that sought to conquer and destroy her. The more that the crimson haired woman regathered her strength over this ethereal force, the less havoc this darkness wreaked.
Before the connection had all but been lost, however, she called out one last time to Jair. ...Thank you...
From there, it was only a matter of time before Mariah regained her bearings and managed to stand back to her feet, on her own. Even if Rayanelle was there and at the ready to lend a helping hand, she wouldn’t need it. She may have stumbled some at first, but her control within the Force flowed evenly throughout her body now, lending her the missing strength she needed.
Rayanelle kept a steady gaze on Mariah. She knew the woman wouldn’t want help even as she stumbled. She had snarled for her to stay back as she fell. She was stubborn. Rayanelle had been warned, but she didn't actually believe it was as bad as Aria had made it seem all those months ago. She knew her sister well... Her gaze moved to Jair however as the happenings started to sink in, her mind now clear of the feeling of death that weighed over her home. “Remember mother’s teachings…?” she asked him, brow furrowed in confusion. “Is that what…? Her voice trailed off, her emerald eyes turning back to Mariah. “How…?”
Without missing a beat to the question, though, Mariah answered, and perhaps not the one Rayanelle had wanted. “We must be leaving…” She turned her attention with narrowed eyes towards the Jedi. “Now.”

It felt like time stood still for a moment. Or perhaps it was that Jair wished time would stand still. Did Aria just speak to him? Did they actually communicate? He didn’t want to let go of this moment. He didn’t want it to slip away, but her presence in the Force faded. He called out to her again. He had to try.
Aria... Aria! Can you hear me?
As the darkness has faded, there was no answer this time. Jair let out a deep sigh before looking at Rayanelle apologetically and then over to Mariah, who seemed to be stable now but I’m quite a rush, then back over to Rayanelle again.
“I’m afraid I have no idea what it means. Not yet, at least.”
He turned his attention back to Mariah.
“Are you sure there’s nothing more that we need or may have missed?”
It appeared from her countenance that she had recieved everything she needed from this encounter, but still, there was no need to rush. Or so he thought.
