"I'm not leaving them behind." With all that Mariah had pointedly said, that was all that Gavin returned to her. At first, her eyes had only narrowed upon him as proof that she either didn't or flat-out refused to understand the meaning behind that explanation. However, the crimson-haired woman didn't say anything and instead allowed his words to be the final parting exchange between the two.As Gavin fully boarded his ship, Mariah turned to face him. Of course, though, Mariah expected nothing less when that familiar smirk spread upon his lips as he signaled his final farewell. With a roll of her eyes and shake of her head, she jerked her chin upwards towards him, a silent indication that Gavin should simply keep boarding and watch where he was going. Silently, she hoped that he would trip under his own feet in the process. It wasn't until the ship lifted up and exited the hangar bay that Mariah was left to wonder why in Chaos he of all people was chosen in this Force-awful galaxy. Clutching the hilts of his sabers in her hands, Mariah figured that the best place she could put these two things would be tucked in a drawer or locked away somewhere she would never need to see. Out of sight, out of mind. The next two years would be an infuriatingly long period, but she would have her peace from the cultural divide of her people and the modern-day society until that time in two years. As though to solidify that desire into reality, Mariah patched through a transmission to orbital control."Tasradan, this is Mariah," she began, knowing that he would understand full well who exactly had patched through to him. "There's a certain ship about to enter your orbit--a YT-1930--belonging to a member of our order. Flag it. The moment that ship ever reenters our orbit, I personally need to be made aware." She had two years before he would make his permanent return. She had no guarantees he would stay faithful to her earlier command to keep her updated and notify her. To save herself from any further unwanted 'surprises,' Mariah would take matters into her own hands, ensuring that her future stayed on the path she would carve, and not the one paved before her.Pushing through the hubbub of the workers coming and leaving catacombs beneath, Mariah made her way back to her chambers. Little served her purposes while she remained in the hangar bay. With Gavin now gone and out of any scrutinizing eyes, it was time to clean up the Force-damned mess he made. Achieving normalcy was now crucial so that none would know that their very Empress harbored a dangerous relic within the very Temple they all resided.

The ride to the Temple was long and short in its own right. The roaring engines left no room for talk between the Empress and her newest, odd companion. The ziggurat structure soon shot into the view, the desert broken apart by the canyon over the horizon. The well of the Force crept over unsuspecting individuals like tidal waves the closer they came. The Force Nexus within that canyon was strong, and thus an unaddressed reason for the Dark Jedi to choose this place as their home.
Mariah led her and her team into the lowest level of the Temple -- the hangar bay. Without another word to The Holy Man at first, the woman shut down the landspeeder and hopped out effortlessly while her team worked to settle their own vehicles. Her usual activity would have been to depart quietly on her own, but the woman waited, garnering a few questionable stares from the two small teams that accompanied her."Would you have us show him to the guest quarters, m' lady?" one finally spoke up.Although her back was turned to her companion, Mariah took the time to remove her headpiece while waiting for Hiro to dismount. As before, her eyes didn't need to remain continuously trained on him when she kept her sixth sense within the Force, so to speak, wrapped around his every movement and intention."No," Mariah answered firmly. "I'll take care of that personally. You all are dismissed." Although done with hesitant caution, the one bowed at the waist respectfully towards her command. Their gazes occasionally looked over their shoulders as they departed to either ensure the Empress's safety... or perhaps more aptly, the man's. Mariah kept her back towards Hiro, though, while she scanned the hangar bay with a type of critical awareness only acquired through decades of discipline and training."Tell me, Hiro," she began, now that they had more privacy than before, "Do you commonly pledge your hopes to earn a stranger's trust? Or do I harbor a mark with a high payout to your employer?" With her face now exposed, the twitch of her lips in that dark smile was much clearer. If it was all about a mark or mission, the Empress appeared wholly unperturbed by the idea and, instead, seemed to accept the idea as a game of sorts."The latter seems far more viable if you ask me, since I'd imagine the former would have already led to your untimely death many years ago. The Force is not always a kind Master." With a half shrug, Mariah added, "Either would be quite a humorous occurrence, though."

He was quiet for the duration of the ride into the canyons. He could feel the dark energy pooling in this place, and he recognized it as the faint pull he felt from across the galaxy. The energy here was incredibly strong, and now it made sense why the Dark Jedi would make their home here.
He remained silent while they docked in the hangar bay and were set upon by an attendant. Now that he was officially a guest here, he only observed the interaction between the Empress and the woman, giving her a slight nod of thanks as she was dismissed.
When the Empress addressed him again, he couldn't help but laugh to himself.
You seem to be mistaken. I have no need for money, and by extension an employer. If there were a price on your head, it seems as though even a normal Force user would need more than a decent walking stick to do the job. Seeing that would be humorous, indeed.

At a glance, the crimson-haired woman appeared much more relaxed now that her 'guard' had disappeared into the Temple. She was sure that there were still plenty of eyes about -- security and whatnot -- especially after the latest ordeal. The Empress had ordered it, after all. However, Mariah appeared much more composed and at ease with being alone to deal with the possibility of a risk. Her fate was now rightfully in her own hands instead of relying on possible failures of others.
"There was an old legend passed down by my people about others who could turn even sticks into the most resilient weapons--weapons that could even fight against the ferocity of a lightsaber," Mariah murmured, tilting her head to catch Hiro out of the corner of her eye. Arching her eyebrow, she continued, "You may be a strange man with nothing but a walking stick, but it doesn't make you any less dangerous if you truly wished it."
Mariah inhaled deeply. There was something about Hiro that was… off. She couldn't place exactly what yet, only that there was something deceptive about him. She had attempted to poke into that possibility earlier to no avail. However, this Temple wasn't built in a day, and like this Temple, some secrets would take time to chisel out to see the light.
"I've just dealt with spies in my Temple, Hiro," Mariah stated, pushing herself away from the speeder to spin around on a heel to face the man, "and I ensured their eradication firsthand."
Underneath the dark smile, confidence and pride lingered in that statement as a warning to him. If Hiro truly desired to earn Mariah's trust, he would do as much in due time. However, if there was a single malicious bone in his body, she ensured he fully understood his fate and that she would find enjoyment in executing it.
"Then you arrive shortly after and attempt to convince me that the Force drew you to me. You must understand my hesitance to your... intentions."
Intention--the word rolled off the woman's tongue slowly and deliberately. Although her gaze remained harshly locked upon him, the faint twitch of her lips in a thoughtful purse revealed the slow shifting opinion within her mind.
"You're much sloppier than they were, though, so you have that."
Mariah shrugged a shoulder as she crossed her arms over her chest. Cocking her hip, the woman jolted her head to indicate the Temple's entryway with a chin and allowed another dim smile to play at her lips.
"Now that we have all of that cleared up and out of the way, shall I give you a proper tour, stranger?"

I never said that I was a normal Force user.
A slight smirk crossed his face at the thought of her words. He had seen many interesting Force techniques throughout his life and was aware of the one she was talking about. To wield the Force in such a way was a very powerful technique that could take years if not decades to master. He had only seen it done less than a handful of times.
A slight pang of guilt echoed through him as she spoke of spies in her temple. Of all the ways to topple an empire, deception and deceit are truly the least palatable. While he wasn't above using any means necessary to accomplish a task, he certainly preferred some methods more than others.
A woman in your position has every right to be skeptical and cautious. A mindset that reminds me of myself. As far as intentions... I'm starting to think I know why the Force sent me here. But in the interest of trust, I haven't been completely honest with you. My name isn't Hiro.

Despite the possibility of an adverse situation, Mariah seemed welcomely amused with Hiro's claim. At the very least, her earlier stiffness in the desert had been wholly released for a dark, elegant fluidity. The appearance of her sinister smile made its way known tenfold from what the Empress revealed earlier. Either her attitude then was a facade for her men, or this was the facade. No matter the case, though, she seemed cryptically curious at Hiro's assertion that he wasn't a 'normal Force user,' as though in some deep recess in her mind, she hoped to find out firsthand what made him stand out from all the others.
"Is that so?"
Mariah arched an eyebrow at Hiro. Although her doubting tones remained, she tilted her head in feigned curiosity, her crimson eyes now burning into Hiro, as though the woman wanted him to elaborate. However, the heart of the issue -- and the reason for the Empress's slow personality shift -- lied in viewing him as a possible enemy instead of a potential ally. It was a tricky game and not always black and white to tell the difference between the two, but it was easier to pretend that it was.
Hiro, though, already had a confession, to which Mariah's smile faded to something closer to a scowl. Her attentive eyes narrowed menacingly, and for a beat, she remained utterly and eerily still. A second longer and she finally inhaled a deep breath and exhaled a sigh.
"So a code name?" she asked -- or rather, demanded an answer. "Or simply one of many aliases you take on?" Mariah growled another sigh before continuing, "I can't say that I'm unfamiliar with them. However, there was only one reason I ever used them, and I didn't stick around long enough for them to catch on."
Mariah kept it as ambiguous as possible, but anyone familiar with the game knew well enough what she meant. Either her mark was met with an unfortunate fate, or she retrieved what she was after and left her target empty-handed before they knew what hit them. Depending on "Hiro's" answer, there very well might have been much more the two had in common.
"So... what's your real name? If you're starting to piece together why the Force drew you here to me, I'll also have to ask for your interpretation sooner rather than later."
In the interest of trust, Mariah at least didn't attempt to strike him down when he admitted to his deception. There was that boiling desire to do so, but she stayed her hand from her saber. She would grant him a chance to speak his piece. The only reason? There was an odd sincerity about him, something even the Empress couldn't ignore.

Another quick smile flashed across his face as he watched the wheels turning in her mind. He hadn't withheld the information until now on purpose, but her guard seemed to be eased ever-so-slightly compared to the middle of the desert. It was easy for him to adapt to her pace, her changes in emotion. Moves and countermoves, as some would say.
Anonymity has its advantages. As I am a guest in your temple, I will tell you everything. But "everything" comes at a price.
He gestured to the building that surrounded them as he began taking a few steps forward and away from her. What he was about to ask would most likely do one of two things: pique her interest, or make her want to throttle him where he stood. A few steps between them couldn't hurt. Either way, her response would give her one of the last pieces of information he needed to truly understand why the Force brought him here.
A duel with the best your Order has to offer. Not to the death, of course. A good houseguest wouldn't kill one of his hosts. Well, at least not without reason.
He said the words matter-of-factly, making his intentions clear that she would get no answers otherwise. Her response could go one of many ways, and it would tell him all he needed to know about her and the Order.

For a flicker of a moment, Mariah questioned who had actually sent this mysterious man to her planet. Everything, especially information, came with a price. It was a premise she was all too familiar with. However, 'Hiro' played this game recklessly, easing the Empress's brief concerns. Her wry smile had faded from these cautious thoughts, but it appeared again as she elegantly tilted her head. Mariah's crimson eyes glanced over the enigma before seemingly dismissing his attempts at bargaining with a half-shrug.
"You must be mistaken," Mariah murmured with a faint, joyless laugh. "Here, you have no cards in hand, Hiro."
Mariah emphasized the man's false name with a sense of finality to further punctuate her claim. However, this man came and demanded a duel, something that pierced straight through Mariah's figurative armor. If he was as skilled as Mariah was unraveling, Hiro could see it in her expression change--narrowed eyes, the faint furrow of her brow, and the shift t of her jaw from clenched teeth. She took in a slow, deep breath to further sort through her options now, and with just as much finality as her last claim, she continued.
"If a duel is what you desire, though, I cannot refuse. However," Mariah then walked towards him and paused only briefly to again glance over him as though sizing him up, "you will not receive all that you demand until you have proven yourself to me. When you fight my best, they will know your name, your intentions, and that you are a worthy enough opponent. Rest assured, though, I have many fine warriors."
Moves and countermoves. The Empress wasn't so foolish as to allow a strange man bathed in deception to fight against her finest warrior. She had the home-field advantage, something Hiro had to have realized by now. Mariah then headed towards the entrance, deeper into the Temple. She did not look back to ensure he was following but had a feeling that he would.
"Now come. I must show you to your room while I make the preparations. Per my customs, you will eat, sleep, and train among us while you prepare yourself for your imminent battle. On the dawn of the third day, you'll have what you desire."

He shrugged at her response to his request, stating that he had no cards to play. That wasn't quite true, but he did remind himself that he was in her house and wouldn't go too far in pushing to see what she and her order was made of. He had already pushed more than she was visibly comfortable with, and he could see her patience was wearing thin. He responded to her with a small shrug.
Never hurts to have a few extra cards up your sleeves.
He watched her face closely, attempting to read even the smallest of reactionary gestures. When she conceded to his demand he made a mental note of her exact words and the tone behind them.
I'm sure you have more than enough fine warriors here. In my experience, one tested warrior can be worth much more than many fine warriors.
He turned to look at her pointedly, holding her gaze for just long enough to drill the point home. It wasn't a threat, and it was likely that a leader of her caliber didn't need the reminder. But something in the back of his mind was telling him that she was up to something. Nevertheless, he extended his arm as he said she would lead him elsewhere in the temple. Regardless of what she knew or presumed about him she still was willing to play along.
Thank you for honoring my request. Please, lead the way.

Unseen with her back turned to Hiro, Mariah arched an eyebrow questioningly. Despite her shift in demeanor, her guard had never gone down. With Hiro seemingly having more of a hand than she perceived, she made a note to remain wary around him. Although she believed it to further from the truth, Mariah knew that acting upon misconceptions tended to lead to an untimely demise. She was typically the one exploiting them.
"Then we agree, stranger" Mariah stated with a sudden authoritative nature, "and you will be tested."
Despite her altered meaning to Hiro's statement, though, the Empress knew what the man meant. Few were forged by the fires of the galaxy's cruelty and lived to fight another day. Perhaps they were cut from the same cloth. She wouldn't divulge as much, though, not until she was sure she stripped him of any dangerous secrets. For now, Mariah allowed a bit of wordplay to further drive her point home. He would receive a piece of what he requested. Until the day that his secrets were brought to light and his abilities were proven to her, though, her best warrior would remain an elusive figure.
All in all, though, Hiro followed, seemingly gracious to accept only that. A woman of few words, Mariah had little else to say for now and remained otherwise silent as she led the two to the turbolift. The doors whooshed shut, and the lift sent them higher into the ziggurat structure. Their destination was the third level -- what Hiro would soon learn to be the living quarters.

Leading the group from the living area, Belian entered the hangars, his pace steady, but with purpose. Had there been anything that Hiro wished to ask of the duo that escorted him prior to their arrival on the battlefield, the trip through the halls and to the prepped speed at the far end of the area presented ample time to ask. And if it was not confidential or something he was unaware of, he would answer.

HIro continued to follow the Knight through the hallways of the temple and into the hangar. He could tell by the body language of the man that he may be expecting a question from Hiro, but it was too late for that now. Hiro was starting to get the odd feeling of himself walking to the execution block, but he kept his faith in the Force and the promise of the Empress.
There was nothing to do now but see it through.

The silence was welcomed as though he would answer the questions given to him, it wasn’t a chore he wished to do if it could be helped. And with nothing to fill the silence, all that was left was the make their way into the wastes.
Reaching the speeder, the duo boarded as Belian powered it up, allowing Hiro the time to get in. Once the older man was set, the speeder left the hangar for their destination.

*A blood red J-type Nubian Star skiff comes from the mountains and lands in the hangar. It's engines roaring loudly the malicious intent of it's occupant.* **It had been years since the Lord Sovereign ended the DJO on Muunilist. 12 long years. Ronin had waited 12 long years to help re-establish the DJO. Not in the old way, but in the way William Reign spoke of with his last words. To forge a new path and order. To honor the Lord Sovereign and Lord Governor, Ronin had but one goal. To become the new spiritual leader of this DJO on Ambria. To become the new Dark Jedi Sage. Ronin painstakingly collected all the archives from the Villa Obscurum. He would need them to avoid the failures of the Old DJO.** *Ronin rises from his lavish and luxurious surroundings and makes his way to the exit ramp. He stands in the open, wearing the blood red and black robes of the DJO. His hood covering his face so only some of his features were visible. He waits there until a representative or escort arrives to properly greet him.*

As soon as the J-type Nubian Star skiff, Zaya had been alerted to its presence. The reborn Order, whilst busily working away to re-establish itself, was not something beyond her current means to deal with most tasks personally. In fact, the Fallen Empress made it a point to be regularly seen around the Temple and its grounds, attending to her various duties. Her predecessors had often locked themselves away or had been focused upon other plans that the Order had felt alienated. But Zaya would ensure that was not the case this time.
As Demon Eyes settled into a spot in the rafters of the Hangar Bay, Zaya strode in from the access door with a pair of her Honour Guards on either side. A minimal protection unit to be sure, but being in the heart of the Tiernvael Temple meant that more of her guards and Jet Troopers were not far away at any moment.
Unlike what was expected of royalty, Zaya wore a relatively plain outfit of armourweave clothing which provided her a great deal of flexibility and mobility should the need arise for her to fight. Pairs of armour plates set into her shoulders were the only rigid armour she wore. For the most part, she would appear like any regular member of the Order that had been tasked with greeting their new comer.
She came to a stop a few feet away from Ronin and gave a bow of her head Welcome to the Tiernvael Temple, home of the Dark Jedi Order... Hopefully he would get the prompt to introduce himself, so that she could ascertain his identity before revealing her own

*Ronin witnesses three sentient creatures approach him. A Zabrak female flanked by two heavily armored brutes he suspects are also Zabrak. Ronin gracefully strides down his ramp, almost as if floating towards them. * **He could sense the intense focus of theses three. A malicious intent held at bay with anticipation. Ronin exuded a darkness like someone whom embraced the dark side, and gave off the same intensity the three were giving off. They were wise to be wary of an unannounced visitor. No doubt they would be ready at a moments notice, but Ronin was a prodigal telepath. Invading minds was an art form that Reign and Eversio trained and guided to a perfection. Yes, invading minds was an artform and theses three...no, wait. Four. There was a fourth pair of eyes on him. Not just sight, but trained sight with calm, but malicious anticipation.** *Ronin stops abruptly Four feet away from the Zabraks, and snaps his head immediately in the direction of the fourth being. Staring directly at him. Staring back at this being with a knowing smile on Ronin's face.*
"I see the rumors were true. A Dark Jedi order has returned." *Ronin lowers the hood on his head. Slowly and cautiously as to not provoke any sudden attacks. He smiles as if he locks a gaze with someone not present here at this meeting. His rich baritone voice filling the entrance of the temple hangar.* **Ronin didn't want to initiate any violence. At least not immediately. Not until he found out what he wanted to know.** *He turns his head back to the three in front of him* "My name is Count Ronin Nalju. Lord Sovereign of house Nalju." *Ronin bows with the flourish of a noble of Serenno. Pompous as it is grandiose. A supreme sign of cordial respect. Even if it isn't known.* "Tell me, how long has this...organization been around?"

The gunslinger was under no pretence that his current presence was hidden as he rested his rifle in place and sighted in on the newcomer. His current role was meant to dissuade any rash actions, thus he left his presence known and stared down hi sights at the man's smile That's a good boy, no causing trouble... He mumbled the words to himself, his mask muting any sound from traveling far.
The Honor Guards kept their saber staffs held in hand as Ronin stopped four feet away. While one might presume they were Zabrak's, the truth of the matter was that the bladed horns protruding from their helmets was an homage to their leader, similar to the Super Commando's of Maul's day once did. The truth of the matter was that they were humans and near-humans that had been trained for their role.
Zaya noted the man's glance up towards the rafters before returning his gaze to her, muttering about the return of the Dark Jedi Order before lowering his hood to introduce himself as Count Ronin Nalju. There were few places across the Galaxy that bestowed upon people the title of Count, but she had remembered most of them through her studies with Ifrit. The list was further whittled down when considering the man's species and the Dark Side aura he put off.
She returned a more restrained bow of her upper half slightly forward It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance Count Nalju... The Weaver of Blades founded this Order seven years ago alongside the Lady of Shadows. After he became The Fallen, I recall he did find mention of an Order that once existed years ago... A spiritual predecessor so to speak. So, have you come to present yourself to join the ranks of our illustrious order Count Nalju?

*An amused look spreads on his face when Ifrit's name is spoke. It's a name he hadn't heard in years.* "Indeed? I am glad to make yours as well..." **Apparently this young woman didn't extend the same courtesy of introductions. But I suppose this is to be expected of....commoners. It is of no real consequence. He muses to himself. After all, he was a long ways away from the courtly manners of Serenno.** "So, Ifrit goes by The Fallen now? Tell me, does he currently reside here now? If he does, I would love to offer my services as a....what was it you said? Ah, yes. A spiritual predecessor." **Ronin was still amused by this prospect. After all, he had enough affluence as well as influence.** "After all, I was tutoring myself at the elbow of the Master to become a Dark Jedi Sage like Lord Reign. At least in the spiritual sense." *He slowly places his both his hands behind his back palms out, and squares his shoulders, straightening his posture.* "I would like to know more of this Order, if you are so inclined to do so, for I feel that I have much to offer in kind."

Zaya.. Zaya Pyrestriker... Although her introduction was delayed, it had been purposeful to gauge the Count's reaction and learn of his identity first. A sad look cross her features then as Ronin asked after The Fallen and if the man still resided here He did go by that title, yes. Unfortunately he has met his demise rather recently... Did you know him well? She did not recall The Fallen ever mentioning the Count in relation to the Dark Jedi Order. But it was entirely possible their friendship/meeting had been unrelated to it, which was why he had not mentioned it While The Fallen no longer reigns here, I am sure his successor would be interested in your offer... If you'll follow me to the Throne Room, I can tell you further of this Order on the way... She stepped to the side and motioned toward the door. The Guards parted further, preparing to fall in line behind the pair if Ronin agreed I suspect there is much you can tell me that The Fallen was not able to learn about. Shall I start?

*Ronin's look of amusement fades as a stern look crawls across it and a raised eyebrow. He pulls his hood back over his head.* **At last an introduction. He muses quickly.** "Indeed. I am glad to make your acquaintance." **Most unfortunate. It seems I am too late once again he chides himself.** "Yes, it is unfortunate. Ifrit and I were never formally introduced to one another, we were in different circles but knew of each other. Our...Teachers were better acquainted than us." *An offer to meet the successor make him nod in agreement.* "I find this agreeable. I will meet with your leader." *Ronin begins to walk forward with his hands behind his back, when Zaya gestures.* "I would be delighted to share of my knowledge. After all, I have in my ship, all the archives from the Villa Obscurum. I believe they will be of use."
