*tap tap* Is this thing on? Ah, good, it is. Ahem...
I am a slightly overwhelmed newbie who wants to write an Imperial. I'm not sure what Imperial factions are out there, which is why I'm making this call for help in the first place. Imperial leaders, please tell me you exist. As far as who I'd personally like to join, probably something like the Pentastar Allignment. Don't want some sort of Dark Empire faction.
In short, Imperials, reveal yourselves!

I am your main Imperial, Mr. Auric Kaine!
My character, Nicademus Delvardus, is Emperor of the resurgent Empire on our forum, which started off as and still is the First Order (military regime to full fledged empire over time). We control the territory that would include 100% of the Pentastar Alignment's former territory with our capital on Muunilinst. We also control a number of other planets that connect the Outer Rim to the Deep Core on the northwestern edge of the galaxy. We have Imperial Knights, Knights of Ren, and all kinds of non-force people!
We welcome any and all Imperials to our ranks! Especially a descendant of good old Ardus Kaine!

I guess Nicademus Delvardus IV would be then the best person to help out here. The Imperial Remnant got reformed into the First Order (though not the canonical one!), which means that there is an actual Empire with an Emperor existing, similiar to the Fel Empire in terms of structure. We hold the majority of the Deep Core regions and a good portion of systems around Muunilist. Other than that I wouldn't be aware of any other splinter factions. Most of us Imperials joined up with Nicademus. edit: Nic was faster.

Best to say that the First Order inherited the remnants of a Fel Empire revival which petered out about... four or five years ago? Nicademus picked up its remnants and united them, creating a Deep Core Remnant, then became a self-proclaimed successor of our site's Fifth Galactic Empire, which he dissolved eventually. After that Empire was dissolved, he went to the Outer Rim with loyal troops, set up shop on Munnilinst and began the First Order, the foundations of the Empire today. In addition, he has started his own dynasty, to succeed the deceased Fels, and to create a lasting legacy under the Delvardus Dynasty.

Well, I guess I'm walking into a fairly storied organization then!
First off, thank you for the prompt reply. You don't know how refreshing it is to find an active Imperial presence on a site that isn't downright insane. Secondly, I guess that answers my requests for queries. If I might ask, what is the current state of your... organization? Government?

So far the faction thread of the First Order gives a good overview of the current structure, although admittedly we're in the middle of changing some stuff from what I can see (Nicademus having chosen a wife, the Knights of Ren sub-faction having souvereign controll over the world, where their headquarters are located and other buiseness) - but for the moment that's the best adress. While there also exists a rough sector overview, who among the Imperials is currently gouverning which planet. There might be a version of it, which is more up-to-date though.

To best summarize everything: First Order began after Muunilinst was ravaged by Mandalorians. As a result, the Imperials filled the void and turned the planet into a shining Imperial capital. Now is a story behind the Muuns being treated as secondary citizens, but that's because the IGBC attempted to assassinate Nicademus and he retaliated decisively. From there, the reunification of the Imperial Sector brings into contact with the Jedi Order's outpost on Dantooine, sparking the Third Galactic Civil War. The war doubles their territory with an expansion east in the northern parts of the Outer Rim and south to connect with the loyalist region in the Deep Core. This ends with it being in favor of the Imperials, but the treaty is still made on equal terms between the FO and the Galactic Alliance. Well, the GA isn't doing so good (it literally dies in terms of activity) so Nicademus goes about ending them once and for all in the recent Sacking of Mon Calamari. Some of their other big achievements go along with the technological breakthroughs that the First Order, in Canon, experiences such as the presence of the Resurgent-class Battlecruiser in fleets, the new starfighters, Stormtrooper equipment, etc. We recently had our faction's new flagship be built, a heavily modified Executor-class Dreadnought. Plenty has been done and more can be done for sure! Right now, the Empire is at peace (tentatively). The Emperor has announced his new Empress, the Grandmaster of the Imperial Knights, Faina Nikulin, as the previous one vanished (the writer has unofficially left the website it seems). Knights of Ren and Imperial Knights are not directly at each other's throats, but they don't like each other. In terms of his kids, Octavian, the twin of Fiora and heir of the Empire, has been promised to be trained as an Imperial Knight while his sister, Fiora, is promised to be trained as a Knight of Ren. We are looking to start conflict again, but we are taking our time with planning that out with some factions. Particularly the Jedi Lords and the Corellian Coalition. Blackguard Reborn, our significant Sith faction, will likely be an enemy in the future (once an ally), but thankfully, Viox is taking his time with that. Best to say we are entering a Second Cold War perhaps. ============================ So whatever you want your Imperial to preoccupy in terms of profession and rank, I am sure we can easily figure it out! We will find your corner where your character can thrive! And pretty much, every character in the First Order will gladly help you in any way they can. Considering your surname, a certain Grand Admiral Garrick Needa would love to meet a descendant of Ardus Kaine. Edit: Jenia has pointed directly to the threads that give more information, which should help a lot.

Sorry for the relative lack of activity, real life is irritating as ever...
Anyhow, looking to set up this character with some sort of small task force to do... something, depending on the current situation.

No problem! Garrick told me you had work in RL, so no worries there at all.
Hmmm, well right now, the Empire is at peace (because there really isn't anyone on their radar). The Emperor is more concerned with internal matters such as seeking to integrate the Knights of Ren further into the Empire, promoting people, family stuff, and elevating his new Empress. Where would you want your character to be? In the Navy? Research? Imp Intel?

Well, originally I was planning on doing weapons research, seeing as that field seems to not have that many people in the First Order. I am open to other options though, of course.

Well we have some people that have dipped their hanss into military research. Garrick Needa and Ona Veed helped create some new warships and starfighters. I will let you in and say that the RPA is looking to expand our database to include ground vehicles and space stations, so opportunity there for future military research.
Could be credited with the development of the FO's newer weaponry and armor found on its Stormtroopers, like the F-11D blaster (which granted has a canon manufacturer, but the only one I have mentioned is Sienar-Jaemus). Could easily be that Blas-Sonn Corp is made up of Imperial loyalists that broke away from their parent companies and fled to Imperial space where you joined up with their new corporation. Give your guy some credit to stand upon and build up from.
As for other options: naval, army, commissariat, moffship, Imp Intel, uhhh... Thats all I can think of. Given you are a descendant of the Kaine family, maybe run some sort of military-controlled company or a rising star of sorts within the First Order.

Rising star of sorts? Could you clarify what you mean?
Also, a military controlled company might be good, especially from the RnD side, seeing as the Tarkin Initiative is gone.

Granted we have no RnD element in JvS (caused a lot of problems in the past), the custom ships entries do help compensate for that nonetheless. Not to mention that the First Order is gonna be getting more new stuff with upcoming media and literature.
As for rising star, could mean that he is gifted and talented at what he does so he is rising through the ranks rapidly. The surname Kaine may have given him foundations, but his work has propelled him upward.
Yeah all of the Tarkin based stuff is gone. First Order still has a military research division and all the manufacturers are under military control (save major canon companies like KDY as regulations on JvS forbid outright and direcr ownership of these companies to ensure their neutrality). But you can make up your own military company that has helped with the production of new technology for the Empire. Maybe helped with the development of some of our custom tech entries like the Vector and Demolisher.

Well, that sounds interesting...
As far as a specific role, the whole military corporation thing sounds interesting, although a Moffship might also be a fun thing to do.

We got plenty of planets. Could easily be a Moff and still run a military corporation for the Empire. As for what worlds you could set up on for both roles, here is a list with their Grand Moffs attached:
Central Oversector (Muunilinst Oversector) - Nicademus - Muunilist (Capital) - Bastion - Yaga Minor - Agamar (Jointly ruled with Allied Mandalorians of Clan Bralor) - Mygeeto - Garqi
Prakith Oversector - Soku/Soku Ren (Grand Moff) - Prakith (Special Autonomous Zone) - Foerost - Khomm - Aargau
Kuat Oversector - Aurel Pellaeon (NPC) (Grand Moff) - Kuat - Caamas - Carida
Rendili Oversector - Ishild Sauer (Grand Moff) - Rendili - Balmorra - Brentaal IV
Dubrillion Oversector - Merrik Piett (Grand Moff) - Dubrillion (Imp Intel HQ) - Dantooine
Bilbringi Oversector - Garrick Needa (Grand Moff) - Bilbringi - Adumar - Corulag
Taris Oversector - Harlan Petrovsky (Grand Moff) - Taris - Arkania

Well, I will likely set up on Corulag, after briefly looking through all of the major planets on that list.

Sounds good!
On a sidenote, I need fleet help, and I remain unconvinced to Garrick's argument that spamming TIE Defenders is the best way to go.
Even if Thrawn recommended it.

If you want, you can take a look at my fleet. I've never taken her for a test drive, but in theory she's pretty well rounded.

I would recommend utilizing the TIE Vectors, the TIE Predators, and... the newer FO TIE models.
Need help with fleets, I have pretty much helped everyone I can around in the FO with their fleets XD
