Graytooth nodded, making a mental note of who was who as Jake introduced them. The old shaman did indeed know how to get them back to where they needed to be, though he wouldn't be accompanying the kids himself. He was far too old to make the journey these days, but thankfully there was no shortage of younger and more capable scouts to volunteer. The chief had ordered a small escort, at least to the village borders. Ah, but now to explain it to the kids."Yes, I do. The chief has tasked a few of his scouts to escort you home."The old Ewok reached into a pouch and pulled out a small folded piece of paper."This map should also help in case you manage to get separated from the scouts."
The elderly Ewok stepped forwards and handed the map to Serena, who carefully took and unfolded it. The paper seemed like it was old, so she didn't want to damage it, but by the looks of it, it had held up reasonably well."Thanks. Er..."It occurred to her that if none of the scouts could speak Basic, it might present a problem if there was an emergency."Um...do any of the scouts speak Basic?"
Graytooth nodded.:"You're quite welcome. I've instructed the lead scout to come and fetch you when they are ready to leave. And yes, I have instructed our lead scout in Basic. He will be able to communicate with you. Now then...don't wander off, all right?"
Serena nodded, having no intentions on getting lost again anytime soon."We won't! Thanks again!"

*The shaman did know how to get them home! Jake beamed, nodding as he listened to the shaman explain that they would be accompanied by scouts, the lead one being instructed in Basic so that they could communicate. They had a map too, which would help. Maybe. Could they read it very well? Were there any landmarks they'd actually be able to use for guidance? To be completely honest, Endor was pretty, but the terrain was kind of unremarkable...
Still, they had a way back to the enclave, which was great, and he was ready to leave as soon as they were able. He wished he could see the chief before they left, maybe they would, he didn't know, so to be sure, he gave the shaman a bow before speaking to him.* Thanks very much! And if we don't see the Chief again, will you give him our thanks too? Please? *They had done so much for them, and Jake was so thankful. But now it was time to get home and assure their father they were all three of them okay. As soon as the scouts were ready, that was...*

*Hearing they finally had a means of getting home was a relief. Morgan stood up upon hearing the news, peeking at the map handed to Serena by the shaman. Morgan wasn't actually sure how helpful it would've been, but it was something, she supposed. When Jake asked to pass along their thanks, Morgan agreed and also gave the shaman thanks, bowing as well, figuring the courtesy was called for in this case. She actually thought she might miss this place, even though she'd only been here less than a day, but the architecture was neat and the Ewoks were fun, when she wasn't being irritable. Still, it was kind of an unannounced visit, and she was sure her father was worried sick, so it was best that they made their way home as soon as they possibly could.*

Serena's eyes wandered around the village as the Ewoks bustled about, hoping that the scouts would be ready soon. Not that this place wasn't nice or anything, but she really wanted to get back to human civilization. Although it might be nice to at least say goodbye to the chief or something before they left, since he had let them stay and given them food and all that.
She sighed softly."Wonder if the chief is busy. Maybe we could go see him?"

*Serena wanted to talk to the chief? Well, there was still time for that, wasn't there? Jake looked around through the crowd, trying to locate the shaman if he hadn't disappeared yet. They still didn't know his name... that would've helped, but Jake had to improvise, it seemed.* Er, Sir Shaman! Are you still there?

Sadly, the shaman was already out of hearing range, which at his age, was already fairly limited to begin with. Jake's call, unfortunately, fell quite literally on deaf ears. Serena considered going after him, but then got the idea that maybe they could go seek the chief out themselves. His hut should be easy to find, right?
She sighed."I don't think he heard you..."She took a glance around the village."Maybe we could just go find the chief on our own?"

*Well, it appeared the shaman either was not around or couldn't hear him, the latter Serena noted aloud. Jake frowned briefly, wondering if they could find another Basic-speaking Ewok who could help them along. But then Serena proposed the idea of finding the Chief themselves, which Jake supposed that they could. But what about the scouts who would come to help them? Well, he supposed that the three of them would be easy enough to find, so he decided that wasn't a bad idea and nodded.* Alright, let's go. *He then led the trio through the village, passing through bundles of fur on the way to the chief's hut. He may not have been there, but it was a good place to first look. He wondered why Serena had wanted to see the Chief, but to be honest, Jake kind of wanted to see him again as well before they left, to again thank him for all the help and to give him a proper goodbye.*

Serena followed Jake through the village, figuring they would recognize the chief's hut when they saw it since they had just been there very recently. Sure enough, it only took a few moments for them to locate the hut, given away by the two Ewok guards standing by the entrance. They weren't really guarding the hut though, as they were locked in a rather intense debate about something or other. Serena couldn't really tell. If only she understood Ewokese...or whatever the language was called.
She peered inside, the two guards seemingly unaware of their presence as they bickered."Think it'd be OK to just barge in?"

*Jake honestly wasn't sure what to make of the quarreling guards outside of the hut, but it didn't seem like they were going to take their attention away from each other anytime soon. Was it an important squabble? A petty one? ... were they drunk? Jake should his head, hoping that wasn't the case; what kind of guards would they be if they got drunk on the job? Either way, Jake was wondering if maybe they should just wait, even if that meant they'd run out of time faster.
Then Serena asked if it was okay to just barge in. Jake thought about it, his instincts initially suggesting to just wait, not wanting to appear rude. Then he figured that they were running out of time, and if they were interrupting something, they could just back out. Even though it might appear rude, which was something he never wanted to do, he only nodded.* Y-yeah. If, if he's busy, w-we can just back out, right? *He flashed a nervous grin, then casually strolled his way into the tent just far enough to see if anyone was present, and softly called out.* H-hello? Chief Brightfang? Y-you're not busy are you?

The chief, was not, in fact, busy at the moment."Oh, hello Jake. And Serena and Morgan too!"The Ewok chieftain made his way over to the three kids."Come to say a last goodbye I presume?"
Serena nodded."Yeah, and also to thank you for helping us like this."She smiled and turned to Jake and Morgan."Anything you two wanna add?"

*Morgan had remained mostly silent and followed along with the group, not sure what to really say or add to the conversation. Something seemed to nag at her at the edge of her mind, but she wasn't sure what that was. Earlier she had hoped for some kind of Ewok party they could join in on, but now she was suddenly more concerned about things within the woods. She followed along to the chief's hut, only sparing a moment's attention to wonder what the squabbling Ewoks were on about, then entered the hut with the others, where the chief awaited, surprisingly not busy at the moment.
The chief had guessed their intentions: That they'd come to say last goodbyes. Serena confirmed this, and also thanked him for all the help so far. When asked if they had anything to add, Morgan looked away, out of the hut, towards the trees, then nodded and turned back to the chief.* Yeah, thanks for everything but... um... is there something in the woods? Something we should look out for? Besides boar-wolves I guess... *Her sudden concern would be noticeable to her companions, or at least to Jake, as it stood in contrast to her usual carefree self. Hopefully she wouldn't cause any concern from either of them, but she just wanted to ease her own mind at the moment.*

*Of all locations to visit upon Endor, it was this Ewok village Aerandir chose. It had actually been a simple decision; the records told well the story of Bright Tree Village and their contributions to the First Galactic Civil War. Since then, the inhabitants had remained in relative civil contact with the more-civilized parts of the world, in particular its former Jedi occupants.
Aerandir had spoken with Rawkill ahead of time to brush up on Ewok etiquette, and it had served him well thus far. They were a hospitable bunch, ensuring he received the best possible comforts that could be offered... in exchange for the gifts he had brought them. Regardless, it was a fulfilling experience; while he had indeed been to Endor before, he had not actually mingled with its indigenous inhabitants. It was honestly somewhat delightful, and reminiscent of the way Felucians lived: Rather primitively, but they made the most of every item and were very reverent of their surroundings.
He spoke with the few that knew Basic, exchanging stories both past and present. Many were of course interested in the world beyond the sky; in contrast he sought after much simpler knowledge. Tales of the great battle many years ago, as retold through the local legends... stories of the "great two-legged fire-breathing beasts" that a great Wookiee had tamed—with the help of two Ewok heroes of course. With their help, they had destroyed the strange metal bowl, which resulted in the "Death Moon" in the sky exploding.
Of course, Aerandir knew the true details—as far as the records had kept them, at least—but it was still amusing hearing them retold as legends.
But history lingered here in more than just words. It was in the very air around him, resonating in his very mind. If he focused, he could almost picture it, glimpses of the historical figures of the Rebellion who made their stand here... even Luke Skywalker himself. Curiously, the touch of other Jedi legends were felt, if not seen; most recognizably that of Yoda.
Before he knew it, he'd found himself meditating in the midst of Ewok company, all of them seated on an open-air platform high up in the trees. He could sense their curiosity, as well as the amazement that followed when the Dantari crystal slipped free from his pocket to hover before him. He heard them whispering amongst themselves, asking what he was doing, discussing the limit of Jedi magic. Fortunately, none of them attempted to disturb him as his mind melded with the Force around him, channeling into his being, through his crystal, and back to him.
The touch of Ashla... and the Jedi Order's own history with this world... The gathering that had taken place here once... and the Shadows' operations... He attuned himself to their light, making it his own. He drew upon Ashla's presence here and called it into him... Then once more he opened his eyes, the meditations complete. He observed the crystal, still levitating before him; it was getting more difficult to tell its change in shade lately, but the tinge of green still lingered.*
"Soon," *he muttered aloud, before grasping the crystal and pocketing it. With a smile, he apologized to his company for the distraction, explaining in simple terms his "quest." This was met by them wishing well in his endeavor, which he thanked them for.
Not much more time was spent on the moon by the Jedi. Briefly, he'd taken an excursion to the Endor Resort, where talks of unification had occurred many years ago. They were not the first of such talks, nor were they the last... but many years later, the efforts of their labor had borne fruit, as the Jedi Order once more stood united against the evils of the galaxy. With that heartening thought in mind, he left the moon once again, thankful for the experience.*

"You sure it's here?"
"It should be here"
The crew was wearing green camouflage ponchos and vests. Even the senator looked a down-to-earth trooper. The tarsunt, Taridun Gornac, and the senator's aide, Kadrin Bel Kota, were examining the holomap with Voon himself. Several troopers and ground crewsmen and crewswomen trailed behind them. The remnants of Imperial bases and equipment had brought them to the Forest Moon of Endor. There were facilities and outposts all over the wooden surface of the continent, maybe they would find something salvageable. And they were at prudent distance of Crait.
"Great, we're lost"
"The forest has changed it all these years, not my fault, precisely"
"Hush, hush, don't you hear something?"
Beady eyes looked at them from the bushes. A furry individual, pretty small, stepped out and eyed the strangers with curiousity.
"Bi da pup pup? A di ance shish shish?"
"Oh, the Ewoks?"
"Definetely"
"So cute"
The black-skinned Ewok moved on his stumpy, short legs, wielding a small spear.
"Bring the droid"
A bronze 3PO unit appeared, looking clearly out of place.
"Tell him we're the Alliance, the ones who once fell the evil moon of metal, ages ago"
More Ewoks appeared all sudden while the droid translated.
"Chup Chup, da bip dat bipbip utaaaah, yada yada, buuup. Ah di an'ce, Ah di an'ce shish shish, champooo bush bush!"
The furry individuals cheered. One grabs the senator's bony hand and pulls it.
"It seems we have new friends?"
"Guta, guta, hoot bida bup, hush dab jub jub!"
"He says we're going to Bright Tree, which I guess, master, it's their village"
"Alright, alright"
The senator led himself to be led, while the other Ewoks chirped, talked and endlessly walked around the members of the Resistance. Soon they could hear drums and horns. Some very old Stormtrooper helmets were impaled on pikes on the village's gates. They climbed up ladders and walked through pending bridges, arising even more excitation among the furry beings. And there, in the middle, there was a rudimentary statue, painted in a bright yellow, and also a sitting Ewok, rather large, sitting in what appeared to be a throne made of an AT-ST wreckage.
"Interesting decor"
Said the senator to himself. The furry chieftain had a decorated headgear and necklaces, some of them made of plastoid fragments. Imperial-issued armor.
"Cuda cuda, jub jub?"
"Ah di an'cehh! UH, jub jub, guta bip bop"
"He asks about your name and intentions senator"
"Voon Ostrenis-Massa, we came here seeking equipment and material to fight the Evil Moon-builders with White Men Warriors"
He said, trying to somehow made the chieftain understand. The droid translated the message.
"Chup chup"
"He needs more information, sir"
The conversation dragged for some time...

Dawn was breaking on the horizon, over the canopies. The senator was briefing on the small hut he and a trooper had slept in, courtesy of High Chief Weekie Tatchok. His aide and the tarsunt were sweating profusely in the charged atmosphear of the hut.
"They say..."
By them he meant the chief and his hunting party's leaders.
"...That there's an abandoned Imperial base, they usually send younglings there to test their bravery because they believe some ghosts are haunting it"
"Thanks to the Grey-Furred"
Said the tarsunt engineer, invoking the name of one of the ancient deities of his planet.
"I think... that might have been one of the several outposts built in the moon in years past. They held a lot of material and equipment and were often connected to one another"
"We might find something to make this travel worth it"
"Hey, at least we're now friends with a whole tribe of warriors"
"That... well, it's something"
"Hush, hush. We leave in an hour, get ready"
Soon thereafter the Resistance ground crew and the whole Ewok hunting party were heading deep into the forest. The Ewoks just couldn't be quiet, only resting their incesant quibbering when checking traps or going through secondary pathways only known to them for hunting some preys. More often than not they came back with small creatures, killed by bow, trap or spear. Once, they brought what resembled a boar, with four tusks; all cheered pretty happily and congratulated a particularly large Ewok for his luck on the hunt.
"Voh Ah Di a'ance, chuck chuk, bida pop hush hush jub jub"
The black Ewok, whose name was Emett Kuk Kuk, pointed with his spear to the front. Ewoks and rebels advanced through thick brushes, some of which had to be cut and removed to let the repulsor lifts pass through the uneven terrain. Seemingly, many years had passed since anyone had crossed into the clearing they could now glance.
"An outpost"
The architecture and design were unmistakable: Imperial.
"Gimme the macrobinoculars"
"Here"
He examined the seemingly dead and abandoned structures. The gates were seemingly sealed. It looked like it had been abandoned in a hurry. The senator pointed to the structure and gestured towards it. The troopers readied their blasters and bolted forward, the Ewoks, into the thrill of the hunt, followed on their stumpy legs, almost silent, bows and javelins prepared for the kill. The senator, his aide and the engineer followed suit, with the 3PO unit struggling to keep the pace. The gates were sealed but with help of the tarsunt they made a loop in the circuitry and with a shriek they slided open.
"Let's go"
"Chub chub"
Said Emett, by the senator's side, determined. The facility's systems were still mostly operational, despite the clear signs of decay and abandonment. Most Ewoks remained outside, with some superstitious fear to enter the grey-walled outpost, but Emett ventured foward, grabbing very firmly the senator's hand. He seemed afraid waving his spear around.
"Senator! Power cells!"
A trooper had found a storage unit.
"Grab them and take them to the lifts outside"
They kept exploring and salvaging what they could of the facility for the better part of the day. Proton torpedoes, blasters, fuel canisters, useful parts, cables, ore, detonators... the expedition had seemingly been a success. With that they could mantain the war effort longer, equip and arm new recruits, power their weapons, repair their ships. However, there was still part of the outpost that they couldn't get into. The humming of machinery and working systems inside was alarming, though. Finally, tho, they could open a hatch and entered the chambers behind the still-closed door. Inside, everything seemed rather well kept and then, they heard a voice; Emett hides behind the senator and the rebels readied their blasters...

There was a whistle of synthsilk, the creak of a hand flexing in a leathern globe and a dark, twisted laugh.
"I see you are as pitiable as ever... consorting with lesser races and beasts"
There could only be glanced the elegant tunic and robes, red as blood. The head remained in shadows. The voice was raspy, metallic, ruthless, almost inhuman. Emett hid himself behind the senator, scared, the soldiers pointed their blasters.
"I would have wiped you out from the Galaxy, had not betrayal, weakness and compliance acted against my will"
A hand in a red glove reached forward, condemning.
"I don't know who you're... come forward. I'm senator Voon Ostrenis-Massa, I don't fear your empty threats"
"A senator? Ah, yes, the Republic returned under a new guise, after all I could not extinguish your flame"
There was a move in the shadows.
"But, what is a senator doing in the scenary of my greatest failure? Ah, yes, you were defeated, again. Divided, asking to be culled and decimated. I was not there to witness your defeat, but you crumbled to dust noneless. You are senator of nothing, and Empire rules the Galaxy again, somehow, I was triumphant, even if it's not my Empire"
Ostrenis-Massa blinked twice.
"You were dead. You died, your last clone body slaughtered by your own loyals"
"I am still dead"
The shape moved forward and everyone could see a droid with a bright, smooth dome-head. The surface was covered by a life-like likeness of a monstruous human, scarred and wrinkled.
"You're... a droid... a Sentinel droid, you carry his twisted will beyond his grave. You all were thought to be deactivated"
"The reports were inaccurate it seemed. And now... you die"
The face twisted into an evil grim and stepped back into the shadows. Behind the trooper's backs there was a thud and a loud noise suddenly a trooper fell to the ground, unconscious.
"Enforcer droids!"
KX-series, tall dark and unforgiving, they reached forward, trying to hammer the surprised droids with their heavy limbs. Another trooper was pounded straight to the chest and collapsed, gurgling.
"Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiih, jaaaab, dub dub"
"Fire, call everyone!"
"They report of further droid attacks senator!"
The blasters started singing. Their heavy bolts, coming from newer ordnance than the droids' ever saw punched holes in one of the droids, one blasting the unblinking left photoreceptor, the enforce falls. Three remained. Even the senator unholstered his blaster and started firing. One of the troopers called for reinforcements. Another soldier was felled, with a very disturbing cracking noise. Voon saw one of the droids get close by, surprisingly fast it delivered a blow, the senator jumped aside, but the first stroke his left arm and he felt the bone breaking. Then he saw a furry figure who jumped over the droid, trying to stab it with a plastoid knife. The droid tried to get the Ewok, but he couldn't before one blow went through its eye, falling with his unexpected attacker to the floor. Emett rolled like a ball.
"No!"
Yelled the Sentinel. The Tarsunt managed to kill another of the droids, while Voon's aide tried to ascertain the damage dealt to the senator. Then the reinforcements came, headed by the crew's brawler, the Devaronian Raco Mirago with his heavy blaster, not the he needed it, he pushed the droid to the floor, where it was annihilated by blaster fire. Voon was helped back on his feet by Emett and Kadrin Bel. They could see the Sentinel droid turning heels.
"Fetch it!"
Soon the droid was back, no longer the twisted grim on its face.
"Put a bolt on it. Place on sleeper mode, we'll examine it on board"
Taridun did his job and the droid fell silent, its dome faceless and the limbs inert. Voon grabs his broken arm, the pain was hard to bear.
"Beacon the Jan Dodonna and examine this part of the facility. Empty the database, they might hold something important. The droid was here for a reason"
...
Soon thereafter Voon was sitting on a crate, surrounded by Ewoks. The Dodonna was behind him, amazing the furry creatures, who looked at it with wonder in their beady eyes. The crew was carrying the loot, so to speak, aboard. The senator was talking to Emett:
"Thanks, Emett, you saved my life"
The droid translated and the Ewoks responded with a hug and a torrent of chirps.
"Take this"
He placed a ring in the furry hand. It was emblazoned with a raising Phoenix.
"You're now a member of the Resistance, Sargeant Emett. Alliance"
"Ah di an'ce! Jub jub!"
Voon smiled, baring his teeth in a warm and open smile. He hugs the Ewok back, to the joy of both the furry inhabitant of Endor's Forest Moon and his companions, who cheered and danced all around.
"Hub, chuuuta dip dip, chap tub tub"
"He says that the High Chief will make you, master, a warchief of his tribe, that you should stay for a party in Bright Tree"
"I'm afraid we cannot, Emett, but I'll be back, with gifts!"
He hugs the Ewok again, gets on his feet and bids farewell to the other hunters and warriors. The last crates were being loaded into the cargo bay. The bodies of the fallen, sadly, three bodies, were also carried on board. Three good soldiers. Died on duty. More who had died for a cause. The senator enters his ship with a last glance to the forested moon. He had a grim visage, pensive.
"Senator, skies clear"
Said Gurbo Asty on the comm, blazing over their heads piloting its azure B-wing.
"Everyone on board, let's take off and jump to hyperspace as soon as possible"
Soon the canopies were replaced by stars. Voon looked at it through the starboard on his office, glancing the moons of Endor and the planet itself. He takes a seat, the med-droid applying a bacta patch over the wound and a plaster to put the bone in place. He grunted. The stars and lights faded, replaced by the eerie atmosphear of the hyperspace after the Jan Dodonna made its jump. The droid could have something valuable on its evil brain. Information was power.
"Senator, we'll make two micro-jumps before arriving to Crait to avoid being detected"
Said the Abednedo's voice in the comm. Ostrenis keyed the console.
"Thanks. I'll be on my quarters until reaching destination"
The senator cuts the communication and looked through the starboard, the blurred reality of hyperspace, thinking.
"Hope... as hard to keep as running water between your hands..."
The blue lights were reflected on his big red eyes...

The HWK-290 light freighter dipped beneath the clouds, descending on the forest canopy above Bright Tree Village much like the bird it resembled. The OOM pilot droid Chippy eased back on the throttle as it found an empty platform on the east side of the village, carefully lowering the Drunken Mynock as its landing struts extended. The courier's repulsor jets quieted as the ship set down gently and Chippy finished flipping off the few remaining non-essential systems as the droid pilot put the ship into cooldown mode.By the time the hydraulic whine of the boarding ramp dropping sounded throughout the ship, a gathering of woklings could be found surrounding the freighter. While not all the villagers approved of Captain Tarfang's spacefaring ways, he was something of a favourite in the eyes of the children, who found his stories exciting. Tapping the butt end of his cane on the ramp, the elderly ewok hobbled off the ship, a wry grin writ across his furry features."Unky Tarfang!" The woklings emphatically shouted in unison. They swarmed the old space pirate like stink on a wookiee, yipping excitedly in ewokese. Tarfang chuckled and patted their heads, as equally happy to see all the village younglings."Easy there, youngins." He chided, wobbling uneasily as he leaned on his cane. "I'm not as spry as I used to be." "Unky Tarfang, can we see your lightsaber?" Said a bright eyed ewok with chestnut coloured fur. It was hard to keep track these days, but he was fairly certain that was Chirpa's grandson.Despite his protesting joints, Tarfang lowered himself to a knee and removed the ornate hilt that was hanging from inside his weathered long-coat. He handed it to the wokling and rested a paw on the child's head, roughing up his fur playfully. "Now Tokkat, I've told your before it's called a light-foil. It's similar to a lightsaber, but..." Before he could finish his explanation, the wokling pressed the activation stud on the hilt, bringing the weapon to life. SNAP/HISS! A slender acid yellow blade lanced out from the hilt's emitter up to a meter in length, causing all the woklings to gasp and then cheer."Yippy!" They cheered, before Tokat started to run off, waving the dangerous energy blade in the air like a glow stick. "Look at me. I'm a Jedi!" Captain Tarfang nearly fell over as the woklings rushed past him and chased after the light-foil wielding Tokkat. Pressing a paw to his knee, the old pirate pushed himself back up to a standing position and made to go after them. "Hey, come back here with that!" But before he managed more than a step, they were already gone around the next tree. He let out an exasperated sigh and shook his head. "Well, I'm sure it's fine. How much trouble could they get up to?" A thump and a rattle drew his attention next as an ewok almost as old as himself approached. This ewok with greying hair wore a bird skull on top of his hood and carried a staff with animal bones tied to its head. The village shaman, Logray. Tarfang extended a paw in greeting as Logray came near. The religious leader eyed him curiously, sensing something was different about the pirate."Tarfang." Logray said matter-of-factly, then smiled. "Welcome back. How long will you be with us this time? A few days, a week maybe?" Captain Tarfang grinned sheepishly and rubbed a bald patch of fur on the back of his fuzzy head. "I was thinking...well, maybe this time I'll stay a bit longer." Logray's dark eyes widened in surprise. Fancy that. Maybe you can teach an old condor dragon new tricks. He nodded and turned, motioning for Tarfang to follow."I'm happy to hear that. Come on, I'll get you settled at my place." "Oh, well I was planning on staying at my sister's hut." "I think you'll find it a bit crowded." Logray replied much to Tarfang's confusion. "Hmmm, I suppose you wouldn't have heard. Chewfang's wife just had a litter of woklings."That was a surprise. Tarfang groaned as he followed. "Now I really feel old." "You and me both."

As evening set in and the dark of night encroached on Bright Tree Village, torches were lit and more logs were piled beneath a bubbling cauldron at the heart of the tree top settlement. Ol'Cap'n Tarfang was seated on a wicker chair, rocking back and forth as he nursed a wooden pipe packed full of Endorian kush, smoking the savoury medicinal herb as he bounced his great niece on his lap.It had been a joyful reunion with his sister, especially with his nephew Chewfang who was all too happy to introduce Tarfang to his litter of woklings. Say what you will about the ewok species primitive ways, they still held family in higher regard than just about anything else, which was more than many advanced space faring species throughout the galaxy.Latara cooed as Tarfang stroked her head, quickly making up for lost time as he ingratiated himself with the village young. As expected, he had built up a bit of a crowd of woklings who were eager to hear about his adventures."...the skell were all around us. Hideous tusked creatures, with more warts than a duloks bum." Gasps. "If it had just been Grimfang and I, well, we would have been done for. Fortunately I had brought along a secret weapon, my pal Mal, a mandalorian." "Wow!" "That's right. I'm sure you all remember the tale of Uncle Bobafang? Well, Mal was pretty similar, only bigger. He had a pair of blasters like mine..." Tarfang patted the sawed-of bryar pistol hanging from his reek leather belt. "...and he knew how to use em." He made a finger-gun with his paw. "Pew-pew. He started blasting em, one after the other. It was starting to look like we might actually win, until the skell shaman appeared and summoned a dragon-slug." "Tarfang!" Exclaimed the elderly pirate's sister Kneesaa, who appeared holding an upturned stormtrooper helmet full of questionable stew that caused Tarfang to salivate. "You're going to give these woklings nightmares. Off to bed with ye, little ones." She shooed them away and then traded Tarfang the stew helmet for his niece, who nuzzled her little button nose into her grandmother's shoulder. The Captain chuckled, putting his pipe down so that he could pick up a wooden spoon and taking a mouthful of delicious stew."Mmmm, Kneesaa. You still make the best stormtrooper stew this side of Endor." Irritably she mouthed 'no more stories' to Tarfang who squirmed under her gaze, nodding somewhat apologetically.

Continued from here.As they journeyed on foot from Kline's damaged ship to the village, the ewoks in Tarfang's hunting party were very curious about the three droids in their midst. Several had taken turns patting the domed heads of the two pit droids, even going so far as to place a wreath of flowers around their chassis as a sign of welcome. The larger loading droid, Golem as it was affectionately coined, was another matter. Several times the curious bear folk tried to climb on top of it, many of the younger members having never seen a droid of that size or type. As you can imagine, droids were a rare sight on the Forest Moon. They'd barely seen more than a dozen since that gold one they had mistaken for the sun god had visited. That was during that whole sorted affair with the exploding moon. They gave up their attempts at scaling the mechanoid after Tarfang gave the cubs a disgruntled look from his furry one eyed face. He rubbed at his eye patch as they walked, relieving the phantom itch that still plagued the socket, despite having lost the eye several decades earlier. The first sign of habitation was the smell of smoke from cookfires all over the village. After crossing the river, several platforms high up in the trees became visible, accompanied by long echoing toots from horns as ewok scouts up in the trees announced the hunting parties return. Ewoks came out of the bushes, conversing with their kin and joining the growing group as they entered the borders of the ewoks forest home. While there was some structures on the ground, most of the village appeared to be up in the trees. Tarfang slowly led Kline and his droids up a set of stairs, that while rustic, appeared structurally secure enough to support the LB droids weight and then some. The elderly ewok's cane tapped on the wooden planks as they ascended."This is home." He explained to Kline. "Bright Tree Village. The height of ewok civilization." He scratched his furry chin. "It's not much to look at, I admit, but what it lacks in modern galactic amenities it more than makes up for in hospitality." Several small woklings that barely came up to Tarfang's waist, which was already low to the ground, came running up to the pit droids. They jabbered in ewokese excitedly, having never seen droids before. They poked and prodded with childish curiosity. In the background, music could be heard, coming from all across the village. A stumbling ewok, portly of stomach, swaggered over to Kline with a ceramic cup full of a dark red liquid. The ewok offered the cup to Kline, smiling to reveal teeth stained pink from whatever the liquid was."Mattberry wine." Tarfang explained, taking a cup offered by another of his kin. "We brew it year round." He took a swig, swirling the contents around in his mouth before swallowing. "It might not put a fire in your belly like Corellian whisky, but a few cups will be more than enough to properly make one insensible..." His words trailed off as the ewok that handed Kline a cup fell over, clearly drunk, as though to emphasize the captain's point.
