*Bright Tree Village was the name of an Ewok tree village on the Forest Moon of Endor. It was home to the Ewok tribe that helped the Alliance to Restore the Republic defeat the Galactic Empire at the Battle of Endor. It was located fifty meters above the ground, in the canopy of a forest known as the Happy Grove. Not all the huts sat in the treetop, however. Some of the houses, including the residence of the Warrick family, were built at ground level.*

*The trek through the jungle continued, through brush and grass and meadows. Quite honestly if Morgan knew the lay of the land better and weren't lost and trying to find her way, she would have enjoyed this little romp through the forest. It was pretty and seemed very inviting, but they had no time to play right now. She was fully focused on following the Force's guidance toward their destination, hoping they would reach it there before nightfall.
She was definitely getting hungry. Lokay seemed a little peckish as well, but she didn't know how she was going to feed him, let alone herself. But in the distance, were those twinkling lights? They were flickering, like torches perhaps? Was it really true? Had they finally made it to a village? Morgan started to beam with a sigh of relief; she was sweaty and tired, and wanted to get rest and food soon. And help, most importantly, but those other things would be very nice right now.* Guys look! I think we made it!

Serena had lost track of time as they trudged through the woods, hoping that they were at least heading in the right direction. She was starting to get tired now after all this walking, and it had been a long time since she had eaten last. Surely it couldn't be much longer before they came across something, right? Just a little longer, surely...
She perked up as Morgan declared that they had made it, and looking up, Serena could see lights in the distance. Wow...they really had made it."I hope they have food there. I'm starving."

*If there was one advantage to long walks on Endor as opposed to long walks on Felucia, it was that it was far less hot and humid. That, and the terrain was generally much more uniform and level. Not that Jake didn't like hiking on Felucia, but a sudden forced trip on a foreign planet wasn't part of his plans, so the gentle weather and terrain was definitely more than welcome.
That didn't mean that he wasn't getting tired, far from it; very long walks on any type of planet was bound to wear anyone out eventually. And Jake was tired, and sweating, and needing a break soon. He was going to request one, despite their urgent state; what good were they if none of them had enough energy to keep moving?
Before he could, Morgan made the announcement that they had made it. Well, that she thought they did, but it was better than nothing. He looked up to indeed see the trees and the flickering lights of what could possibly be an Ewok village ahead. He managed a smile with a breathless exhale, also wondering about food after Serena voiced that concern. They were lost, tired, and hungry; if these people were friendly, all three issues would have been resolved.* Let's go find out! *With sudden newfound energy, Jake ran forward. It was likely the last of his energy until he could rest, but the closer he got to nourishment, the better. He could see the structures now, the houses in the trees, the bridges connecting them. Moving figures... Ewoks? Didn't matter; they were in shouting distance now, and Jake mustered as much voice as he could as he waved his arms above his head and called out.* Hey! Hello! Down here! We're lost! Can you help us?

*Food? Yes, food was good. Even Lokay recognized that as a good idea; he knew what the word "food" meant, causing his head to perk up and peek around curiously, even sniffing at the air. Poor little guy; Morgan now wanted to get to the village for his sake more than their own. But Jake seemed to be the most eager, declaring that they should go find out before running off toward the village with what was probably the last of his energy.
Energy... Morgan had noticed that she had gotten tired far faster than she ever would have on Felucia. What she wouldn't give for the same energy the world constantly allowed her. But she could keep up with Jake, sometimes better, and she wasn't about to lag behind. Mustering what strength she had left, she took off behind Jake, reaching the village not far behind him. They were up there alright, Ewoks. She grinned to herself, then, as Jake called out to them, decided to add her own voice.* We need help! And we're tired! And hungry! *A thought came to her then, a thought that suddenly sapped all the energy and enthusiasm she had left. As her shoulders visibly sagged, she had enough energy for one last shout.* ... can you guys understand us? *They were looking at them, alright. Some seemed to be chattering to each other, barely audible from this distance. Then they shuffled off, away from the scene, leaving them alone. For a few moments, there was silence, Morgan trying to fight off the feeling that they'd been abandoned and would remain lost. Optimism. She had to keep it.* It... it's okay guys... maybe they're just... looking for someone wh-who can speak Basic... *It didn't sound convincing. She wanted it to be true. I mean, the Ewoks shared this planet with Jedi, why wouldn't they have any sorts of relations or translators or Ewoks fluent in Basic? But she was at the end of her energy and could no longer summon any believable enthusiasm. They could wait... but they would have to make a decision eventually if the Ewoks did not return.*

There was indeed movement in the trees as a few of the residents of the Bright Tree Village were moving to investigate the disturbance. A scouting party of three Ewoks had been dispatched to see who it was and if they were hostile. Although when they peered down through the trees, it was immediately clear that the three little humans standing there were not hostile. The problem was, that they didn't understand Basic at all, which created a whole new problem.
"Huh...just little kids. Can't understand what they're saying though."
"Hey doesn't Whatshisface know Basic or something?"
"Whathisface? Seriously? You have the worst memory!"
"Hey that's not fair! Just because I-"
"Enough! Our chief and our shamans all speak Basic...wait though. How do you know they're speaking Basic?"
"They're humans, right? Don't all humans speak Basic?"
"We should bring them to the Chief then!"
"Agreed. Let's go!" Taking a few moments to gather some more of their friends, the party of now 10 Ewoks moved down through the trees...
Serena could hear the chattering in the trees, and she wondered what they were saying. Hopefully they weren't plotting to hurt them or anything. Looking at Jake and Morgan, they were probably thinking the same thing she was. She looked back up into the trees where she could hear the chattering of the Ewoks above."I wonder what they're saying..."
As soon as she had finished speaking, several Ewoks appeared from the underbrush, having descended from the trees and quickly moved to surround the three. Serena looked on, eyes wide as the furry warriors surrounded them, spears raised. This didn't look good...

*Jake waited patiently, hoping that the Ewoks were merely sending for someone that could understand them and weren't deserting them. If they were hostile, they would have attacked by now, so he ruled out that possibility. But they weren't gone yet, as suddenly they appeared around them in the bushes, brandishing spears at them. A delayed attack? Jake stiffened and was almost afraid to react, but he made sure to remain still just in case they were investigating. Quite honestly, he'd want to investigate strangers himself, but he kept his hand close to his lightsaber without actually touching it just yet.
Maybe they were waiting for someone to come here that spoke Basic to communicate with them, and they were just keeping the children around so they didn't try anything funny. Jake couldn't blame them for that. Still, he was a little nervous, and he hoped they didn't think they were hostile... Maybe he could try reasoning with them. Or at least hope that the tone of his voice would assure them that they were friendly, or at least not dangerous.
When unprovoked.* Um, hi there! C-can any of you understand me? My name's Jake! We... we got lost, and we thought you guys could help us? Maybe? *Worth a shot; even if they didn't understand Basic, maybe they'd understand tone. He had spoken sincerely, maybe with some slight exaggeration to get the point across. Hopefully they'd pick up on it, and at least not treat them as threats...*

*There was movement in the bushes. Morgan gasped softly and looked around to see Ewoks approached, spears raised. They weren't abandoned, but now they were surrounded. Well, if they attacked, they could get out of this easily, she hoped, but they didn't seem like they were about to mount an attack... Investigating, perhaps. Could any of them speak Basic? Well, it seemed Jake was already trying to determine that. Morgan looked back and forth, all around them before confining her view to a one-hundred-eighty-degree range. At least a couple of the Ewoks seemed to be taking a particular interest in Lokay; they'd probably never seen a creature like him before. Lokay seemed curious in them as well, sniffing at the air and peering around at all of them, but not yet daring to make a move.*

The Ewoks kept their spears raised, and the lead scout raised one of his little arms, beckoning the three kids to follow them. Slowly, the group moved towards one of the lifts that would take them into the village's upper levels were the chieftain awaited them. Serena stayed silent, guessing that none of these Ewoks understood Basic. Or if they did, they couldn't speak it themselves...she just hoped they weren't hostile.
After several minutes, she, Morgan and Jake were being prodded along the walkway towards one of the larger huts in the village, and Serena guessed that this must be where their leader or chief or whatever lived. Hopefully this one could understand and talk to them...
The Chief in question was a dark brown furred Ewok, called Brightfang that awaited the children in the hut. The Chief of the Bright Tree Village sat on his little throne as his scouts brought the three little humans before him. Right away, he noticed that they looked tired and worn out, and it didn't take him long to guess how they had come to be in his territory. Raising his hand, he signaled his tribesman to lower their spears.
"That will be all, my friends. Please go and prepare a meal for our new guests."
Turning to the kids, the chief hopped off of his throne, having noticed the lightsabers carried by Jake and Morgan. He was honestly surprised that his people hadn't tried to take them. Well that was probably for the best.
"Welcome to Bright Tree Village, little ones. I am Chief Brightfang. Kind of a fitting name for the chief of Bright Tree Village, eh?"The Ewok chief chuckled softly to himself."Ah, but never mind that. What are your names?"
Serena was very surprised to see an Ewok speaking Basic so easily, and she couldn't stop herself from blurting out the first question that came to her mind."How do you know how to speak Basic?!"
"It's not so strange, surely. I've dealt with humans many times, and I felt it was wise to learn Basic."Personally he felt it was quite rude of her to blurt it out like that while ignoring his question, but they were probably tired so he would let this one slide this time."Now then...may I ask what your names are?"
Serena still found it quite strange, but the chief's tone had taken a bit of annoyance in it so she didn't press the subject. She was too tired for an argument anyway and it wouldn't be good if they made him mad...
She nervously cleared her throat."I'm Serena. That's Morgan and her brother Jake."
"Ah, good to meet you all!"

*After a moment, one of the Ewoks beckoned for them to follow. Did he understand him, or had his tone worked? Jake didn't care one way or the other, he was relieved that they were getting the aid they needed. He willingly followed them to the lift, though jumped when he felt the prod of a spear when they reached the walkways. He looked surprised at the Ewok, though decided not to fight it; they were naturally curious from what he understood.
Finally, they seemed to have reached the home of the village chief. He spoke to the Ewoks in his native tongue, apparently dismissing them. Jake was sure he noticed other peeping eyes, but he didn't mind. Then the Chief spoke in Basic, sounding unlike anyone he'd ever heard speak Basic, though he could understand it clearly. It was a little silly, as was his little joke about his name, but he didn't mind it. Serena asked how he knew how to speak Basic; a valid question Jake supposed, but the last thing from his own mind. The Chief seemed to take insult judging by his tone and response, but then asked his names, which Serena provided. After the Chief's response, Jake bowed.* It's an honor, sir! I'm really glad we found you. We, er, got lost in the forest when a giant boar thing attacked us, so we've been looking for help a long time! But right now we're tired, a-and hungry. Do... do you think we could stay here and rest, and maybe get something to eat, please? *He hoped he wasn't sounding too demanding, but those were their most important needs right now, as he saw it. He was sure his dad was worried about them and would try to find him himself, but he wasn't concerned that he wouldn't find them, so right now he had to prioritize their immediate needs. They'd taken care of the most important, which was to stop being lost, these were the next two.*

*They were moving! Morgan too felt relieved now, and was glad to be moving onward. They would be taken to refuge and they could stop worrying about being lost in the jungle. She also had to feel a bit of excitement about going up into the treetops and the city within. Lokay tried to take a closer look at the Ewoks while they were crowded together on the lift, though they seemed to want to keep their distance, like they were a little scared of the little dragon.
Something that amused Morgan greatly, but she tried not to let that amusement show.
When they reached the village, Morgan felt herself get prodded and she yelped, giving the Ewok that poked her an indignant look; she was okay with being led, but not with being forced along like that. She wasn't going to have it. But at least the journey wasn't far, and they made it to what Morgan assumed was the Chief's home rather quickly. Thankfully, this Chief knew Basic, and had also sent the pokers away, so that was double relief for Morgan. After a brief conversation with Serena, Jake bowed and asked for food and rest. That was good, that took care of everything they needed right now. Morgan just hoped they would find what they needed here, and could get back home soon. Daddy must have been worried...*

The Ewok chieftain listened as Jake briefly recounted how they had come to his village, having gotten chased by a boar and gotten lost in the woods. An unfortunate encounter to be sure, but it was a good thing they had managed to find their way here, as opposed to other places. Not that the other tribes on Endor weren't friendly, but the Ewoks were not the only inhabitants in these woods.
Brightfang hopped off of his throne, figuring he could explain everything tomorrow. These children looked tired and probably needed to return to the enclave."I've already had my people begin preparing the evening meal. You can stay the night and in the morning, I will show you how to get back to your enclave."As he spoke, a few female Ewoks, much younger than the others walked into the hut, and Brightfang addressed them in Ewokese for a moment before turning back to the kids."There's a little time before everything is ready. Take some time to rest and freshen up. My daughters will help you if you need anything."He chuckled."Four daughters! They grow up so fast...ah well. Please, go rest for a while before dinner."
Serena was very glad to hear that dinner was being made, and at this point, she wouldn't really care what it was made of so long as it was edible. She was very hungry after that long trek through the woods. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long until it was ready...
She smiled a little."Thank you."She turned to Jake and Morgan as they were led out of the hut."I wonder what kind of food they're making?"

*Morgan wasn't sure what to think of the Ewok chief hopping off of his throne, but she instinctively stood a little on guard momentarily before relaxing; normally she was a little more aware but this fatigue coupled with hunger was impairing her judgment a little. Fortunately, he had already sent for a meal to be prepared for them already, which was nice and made her give a little breathless exhale of relief.
A few female Ewoks appeared and conversed briefly with the Chief before the Chief translated what they were saying, that they'd have time to rest before eating. Morgan was okay with that, though food was good too. He then made a comment about the four Ewoks were his daughters and that they grew up so fast. ... come to think of it, for once, Morgan had a bit of a height advantage on these people. It wasn't much, but it was there. How fast did Ewoks mature anyway? It wasn't important.
As they left, Morgan likewise thanked the Chief before heading out with her brother and her friend. When asked what kind of food they were making, Morgan wasn't sure how to answer that; she knew nothing of Ewok culture or what they ate. She was pretty sure meat was involved, which, while Morgan enjoyed meat, made her a little nervous when mystery meat was involved, but she was hungry enough it wouldn't be an issue. Probably.* I dunno... but I think I could eat anything right now. And I think Lokay could too. *She managed a grin as she looked sideways at her little pet tailring, who nuzzled against her cheek before peeking around again. How hungry he must have been... Morgan felt bad for him, and kind of wished dinner had come before rest now, but they would be fine soon.*

*There was already food being prepared?! That was really nice of the Chief. And they could go rest while they waited? Wow, they really were hospitable creatures that had good relations with humans. He wasn't sure what to make of the comment about his daughters, but he smiled anyway, and when they were dismissed for now, Jake bowed again, maybe a little lower than before.* Thanks again, sir! *He then turned and departed with his friends, who were conversing about the potential food selection. Morgan claimed she and Lokay could probably eat anything right about now, and Jake concurred with a nod. He wouldn't be picky about any hospitality they could get out here, and he was just really glad they were safe for now. All they had left after resting was the journey home, or the pickup, whichever happened first.*

It was about an hour before dinner was ready, but it seemed a lot longer to Serena, but finally they were about to eat. The chief's four daughters led them back outside and to their seats where dinner was being served. The food didn't look that appetizing to be honest, but Serena was so hungry after that long trek in the woods that she didn't care who or what this food had come from. If it was edible, it was going to be eaten, and Serena wasn't really a picky eater anyway.
As soon as her food was served, she began to eat, and soon, most of Bright Tree Village was engaged in the feast.

*When they'd found a place to rest, Morgan was content to just lay back in the most comfortable position she could and try to sleep. Admittedly it hadn't been easy, as there were more than a few Ewoks that seemed to take interest in their new visitors. Morgan didn't want to seem rude, but she really needed some rest; eventually, they managed to be quiet enough that she could indeed drift off to sleep for a little bit, that was until dinner was ready. Personally she didn't care what it looked like, and it tasted fine anyway, though she did have to do some negotiating to procure some raw meat for Lokay, who feasted upon it happily and unquestioningly. Morgan smiled, particularly happy he finally got some food. Though now she was curious about what they would do afterward, as there was no way they could stay strangers to the Ewoks forever, even if there was a language barrier. What did they do for fun? What games did they play? She was still a little tired but she could stand to have a little fun right now, especially after the funless day...*

*Rest was good. Jake was glad they could get off their feet and relax. Truthfully he wanted to sleep, but he didn't want to seem rude to their sudden visitors. Not that he could really speak with them. Still, he managed to get a few winks until dinner, which he similarly didn't complain about; far as he was concerned, it was the best meal he had all day. Er, never mind that it was the only meal he had that day. After the meal, Jake made a point to announce his gratitude for the hospitality so far to no one in general, since he didn't know who would understand them. Then he couldn't help but add his thoughts aloud.* So now what... ?

Serena shrugged and yawned, not really feeling up to playing or doing much of anything else right now. They had been walking out in the woods pretty much all day and with all the excitement, she just wanted to go to sleep.
She sighed."I just wanna go to sleep...I'm tired."

*Sleep? Yeah, that was good, especially since Morgan hadn't been able to get much of it earlier. She even leaned back and stretched her arms out above her head, yawning with a little squeak at the end as always. She didn't say a word, though, only agreeing silently. Well, maybe not so silently after her yawn. She simply sat with her hands in her lap, looking between her friend, her brother, and the other Ewoks about.*

*It seemed both the girls just wanted to sleep. While Jake was also tired, he didn't want to just head straight to bed right now. Of course, he had to put those concerns aside since he knew his friends needed to sleep, but that didn't mean he had to sleep. Was the Chief still around? Or anyone else who spoke Basic? He supposed at the very least he could find out where they were sleeping first. He stood up, hoping it made him a bit more visible and audible, then called out to the crowd.* So, er, um, does anyone know where we can sleep tonight?
