A factory hidden in the depths of the rocky planet had churning out war droids at the quiet command of the Military Consul. A mixture of the skeletal B1 battle droids, their stockier upgrades, amongst others, had been put together through day and night. Machines never sleep, after all.
The next droid on the list was a special one. It already had its processing chip and the innards that would allow it to make decisions, think for itself, and appraise a battle quickly and decisively. In a weird, out-of-body sense, it already knew it was being created. It felt each part of its body being connected with the whole. Slowly the world began to take shape as its sensors began registering its environs. Audio receptors activated with a high-pitched whine before they normalised, to be met with the rather comforting sound of the inner workings of a large, industrious factory.
Though not equipped with olfactory receptors that were capable of 'smelling' like organic beings, the distinct aromas that were generated by the different metals being processed around it were noticeable. Next, it became aware of its size relative to its surroundings as its body was assembled in full. And, with a flick of a switch, its photoreceptors glowed.
Potential had just been created, and it was thirsty to enact its programming.

Potential needed a name. A Super Tactical Droid had been created, and this was a special feat in itself. Not many were made, and it knew from its basic programming that organic beings would feel pride. It felt nothing of the sort. It felt, in fact, nothing. It was bliss.
Its given identity was TD-I9. That will have to do, for now. It waited in its allotted space in the assembly line, waiting for the many builder droids to complete the finishing touches on its body.

The scene was one of total disarray. A young woman little more than a girl, straw hair mangled, her thin frame curled up against the permacrete wall. Her thin hands clasped about her face as her whole body shook in spasms as she rocked back and forth. Across the way from her in the small hovel like apartment lay a lifeless body, a man, taller and more muscular than either human occupant. The man's now lifeless eyes fixed at the girl, glassy and unseeing, a large pool of blood lay beneath his head. The last figure stood flanked either side by two police droids who securely held the young man as much to restrain him as to hold him up. The youngest occupant of the hovel was the smallest by far his dirt covered gaunt face framed by lank matter dark hair. Two silver trails but through the grime, tears that had been shed.
::So you claim the deceased attacked your step sister and he stumbled, yet the blunt force trauma sustained by the victim implies a greater force was exerted on the victim, the eye witness account provided by your half sister Miss Lil Etre coincides with this theory.::
The third droid's servo motors whined slightly as the sergeant turned his head to focus his photoreceptors on Qas.
::Gor Onuw I sergeant XQ-312 hereby charge you with the murder of one Carrig Drefar, from here on you will be detained at precinct 13-B an attorney will be granted, you have the right to remain silent, but anything you do say may be taken and used against you in a law of court.::

A few hours after the fact Zed approached the residence that still had a police line around the building. His afternoon had gone much better than he could have hoped with a half dozen people meeting with him to talk about creating a new Force order. Right at the start of the meeting though he was greeted with a rather unfamiliar occurrence. A vision; or something akin to it. That vision had led him here. There were still a group of reporters around and he listened as they reported to the local inhabitants.
Hello and welcome to this small unseeming building, the subject of a grisly murder. Although the accounts are sketchy what the police are willing to release at this time is that one male humanoid is in custody following the murder of his father. As of yet we do not know why this happened or how but we will be sure to keep you posted on any events as they occur.
Once the feed had cut away the reported looked over disgusted at the building. This was hardly breaking news but it was still being reported on for some reason. As long as the credits came in.
Zed satisfied with what he had heard figured that whatever had happened here was long passed. His best chance was to look for this boy, perhaps the same one from his vision. Heading to the nearest police station Zed entered it and spoke to the droid in charge.
I was wondering, hoping that you might be able to help me. Im looking for the suspect in a murder case from earlier today, I wish to speak with him.

The droid at the main desk of the police station had set itself up for another uneventful day, not that days or whether they were eventful or not bothered a droid. The droid was simply tasked with being the more public friendly face of this particular police precinct. However earlier that day a bedraggled youth had been brought in under a murder charge nonetheless, not that it was CC-1V/AD's business. That being said his data logs couldn't recall the last time on his watch anyone had been arrested for murder.
The droid was tapping away on a data pad, because with murder came a lot of paperwork and here he was processing it when in walked a humanoid. He was tall with a greyish complexion. If CC-1V species logs were accurate then the male specimen before him was a Stennes. CC's last recording of a Stennes was exactly 3,336,795,346,324 days ago.
The droid set the data pad down and focused his photoreceptors upon the man before him. CC waited for the man to finish speaking and allowed his droid brain to process the information before choosing a line of dialogue to pursue.
::May I see some form of identification sir, to speak to suspect in this case I must ascertain your reasons for doing so, we can proceed further much quicker if you produce documentation that proves you have the right to speak to the witness.::

Fucking droids. If it had been a human working at the front Zed would simply have walked by unnoticed. Sadly his innate ability did not amount to much with photo receptors and camera lenses.
I take it that you would follow the protocols no matter what? Perhaps I can entice you to contact Admiral Rae Daro who can help. No better idea give me a few moments.
At that Zed left the droid and reached into a pocket at pulled out his datapad. On of the people who had attended the meeting hours before was Rae Daro a member of the military leadership within the Confederacy. Sending a quick email explaining his reasoning within a few minutes an official order was sent for Zed to meet with the youth. It could lead to nothing, or it might be something.
If you see here, I have the credentials right here. Just following up a line of inquire for the betterment of the Confederacy.

Had he been human he perhaps would have responded with more aplomb, his protocols did detect some annoyance in the beings speech pattern, tone and demeanour. However what mattered most is that the Stemmed had complied and had acquired clearance from one of the highest ranked officers, in fact the clearance now granted to the being in front of him went above and beyond any of the personnel at the presinct. The droids servo motors whirred as it tottered around from behind the counter and activated his clearance code to emit the man.
::If you would follow me.::
The droid led Zed through a security blast door and down a windowless stainless corridor of unfeeling grey, lights activated as the duo made their way down the corridor, eventually the droid stopped at the cell and once more provided clearance so the door to the cell opened revealing the sad thing said like youth within, the droid gestured with his hand into the cell.
::The prisoner is all yours sir, please alert me or my colleagues if you require further assistance.::
Once Zed had entered the cell the door whooshed shut and the young man looked up with pain and terror in his eyes. He didn't say anything, simply waiting for what he thought was the next line of interrogative questioning.

Although the droid was exceedingly helpful Zed kept his silence, there was no point in responding to it. After all it was not a sentient being, it had no feelings. His gratitude would mean nothing to it. Instead as he entered the cell he simply nodded and gave the thumbs up understanding him.
Inside the cell was the boy from his vision looking just as scared as he had then. Only now he was scared for a different reason, he could see the difference whatever it may be in his eyes. Bending down to be closer to the boys height both his knees cracked audibly. Even bending down his seven foot height was noticeable. He offered a weak smile to the boy before him, which may or may not be taken the right way.
Hi my name is Zed for a moment he considered not bringing up his last name. It would mean nothing to the youth and indeed most outside a very small section of space but he did so anyway. Trying to connect the best he could Zed Demici. Can I ask your name?
Of course he could have all of that with a few clicks of a button but this felt more organic and whatever had sent that vision felt like something he needed to do the hard way.

Through the fear, his terror, something seemed to cut through scalpel like, an itching that couldn't be ignored, this sensation was not one For could describe. He only knew that he felt already in some way akin to this stranger whom he had never seen before. He felt somehow connected, this both scared him and made him feel slightly more comfortable at the same time. Unbeknownst to Gor when he had acted to the situation he had been in, in the manner he had he had opened or more accurately ripped a pathway through the force and accidentally connected with this very being.
He watched the tall man stoop low, no one thus far had bothered to come to his eye level and for a being whom was so much taller and older to do so took Gor by surprise, he was different, this stranger, he was not like the others, in his dress, his manner and also that weird feeling Gor felt. It was more than just a gut feeling, Gor would swear he almost could feel the other brings intentions if such a thing existed.
He shook his head attempting to clear away the crazy idea. The man spoke, his voice was soft and measured, one might say gentle, and not at all something he were used to.
"My name? My name is Gor, Gor Onuw, are you here to represent me?"
Gor hadn't had a great deal of experience with the world, but then again what child would have had the terrible experience of having to await legal representation, Gor only assumed to some extent the Zed was just that. The niggle told him otherwise, but he had to try and find out what this unfamiliar person wanted.

Its nice to meet you Gor, we will have to wait and see if that is the case.
In truth Zed was in unfamiliar territory here, both in legal arena and having anything to do with a child. Sure he had read lots of books about both, but when it came to the real deal it was different. Even if he was not here to represent the boy he would not leave him here in a worse shape than entering.
I don't know yet. First I have a few questions for you if you don't mind?
Sitting down in the middle of the floor Zed crossed both his legs, his robs laying beneath him preventing him from truly getting dirty.
Your father... how did he die?

Gor's inner tuurmoil was not helped by the Stennes response, but at least he spoke the truth, god dam, how did Gor know this. He shouldn't just be able to know.
The directness of the following question shook him back to his senses. The young man lifted his head from out of his bunched up position and when he spoke the words all day into each other, it was like the opening up of a spring.
"I screamed, and I pushed him, but I didn't push him, you won't believe me, he was going at her again, he reached for the knife, then, then, then...."
Gor stammered before just letting the sentence hang in the air and then breaking down into racking sobs. He couldn't explain what had happened truth be told, he recalled wanting to protect his step sister from that monster, he'd wanted him to go away, he thought he had even screamed that at him, then he had, he had just gone, gone reeling backward cracking his head on the kitchen work surface and had laid still, his step sister had screamed and then word struck him like an icy dagger for there was fear and anger in it. "Freak". She had shouted, over and over, before she broke down. What was he? Had he really killed him? If so, then what sort of monster was he? Maybe he deserved to be put away.
Unbeknownst to Gor he had ripped open the fabric of the force and hate, malice, yet also seeking to protect the ones he loved, he had forced his Father away and through the force had also opened a channel, he had unbeknowingly created a tether to See and now, now their fate was intertwined.

Hey hey hey I didn't mean. It's okay. It wouldn't be okay but he did his best to comfort the boy and he reached out and placed his hand on Gors shoulder. Right away he felt a spark between them. Some sort of connection. Whatever the Force had intended by having the two of them meet it was less than forthcoming with the information. He thought again of the vision he had. Do you want me to tell you a story? It might not make you feel better but it might help you understand. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away before the formation of the Republic there were societies that would take away special people and force them to do boring meaningless tasks for weeks and months on end. Pushing stones with their feet across a yard, painting and repainting rooms. Whatever was a pointless and meaningless task that would make the person got frustrated and cause an emotional outburst. Something similar happened to you, today. It was true the circumstances were totally different and Gor had ended up on the chopping block. The point of this was to get the person to learn something. A part of them that was always there but they never saw kind of like how you don't see your nose to add emphasis Zed poked towards his own nose. You said you pushed him but never touched him. Was it like this? At this he reached into one of his pockets and pulled out a credit and placed it in his palm and slowly it started to hover. After a few moments he spoke again. Your father was going after her again? Your sister? What was he going to do.

Gor stopped himself as he listened, what was Zed's point, was he implying that he Gor Onus was like one of these case studies? Or was he simply just making the point that with the right leverage and emotional stimuli anyone could be forced to break. No, no that wasn't it, as zed continued Gor thought it was the prior. Then he showed him, a trick, magic, no.
Gor could see it, not physically. It was more correct today he felt, yes, somehow he felt the energy. He pointed at the chit coin as everything fell into place. The power, or energy, whatever it was, Zed had it to, Gor had it, he didn't know how or why, but he had killed is Father.
"Yes, I have this same.........I did it, I did kill him."
He hung his head the weight of the realisation was a burden that was great, for Gor had somehow niavely thought that he hadn't, because he hadn't physically touched him, yet somehow his will had become manifest through the use of whatever power he possessed.
"He was going to beat her, abuse her, I, I don't know but each time it went further, in the past her arm had been broken by him, each attack happened when he drank. He picked up a knife, he'd begun to take of his belt. He was like a wild animal. He had to be stopped!"
When Gor looked up from beneath his lank hair his tear stained eyes burned like fiery orbs with a vehement justice and authority.
"I'm like you, aren't I." He nodded to himself answering his own question. "Does the reason why I killed him matter, those droids aren't going to see this." He pointed again accusingly at the still floating chit. ",They will condemn it as a crime of passion, but I'm still a killer, no magic powers are going to make the charges disappear, are they?"

TD-I9 flexed its joints. An internal diagnostic confirmed its motor functions were working perfectly. The data it was receiving from its many sensory input systems was at optimal efficiency and it allowed it to begin analysing nuggets of information in a tactical sense, as it was programmed to do. It already had an innate knowledge of the structure of the Grand Confederacy due to its initial software installation and walked proudly off the assembly line. Small attendance droids provided a final once-over scan to ensure TD-I9 was built according to specifications, and then it left.
It had no initial orders and it was high up enough in the command chain of the army and navy that it needed instruction from a being of importance. It began looking for an attaché to the Military Consul.

Talk about the five stages. It did not take very long for the boy to go through some of them but he was fast. It did not take him long to grasp not only his situation but everything that was being said to him. You did the right thing Gor. Zed was no student of the law but there was a passing familiarity with it. Its not the same in all nations or worlds but many have a justifiable reason for murder within their system. You did not do this out of anger or passion. You did what you did to protect your sister. To protect yourself. You are right this will stick with you all your life, its not easy on a person when you take anothers life but I will make these droids see reason. Gors response alone was enough to move him. Not the crying, not the accepting his fate but the reasoning. Gor had done evil in the name of good. To protect an innocent family member. I promise you this Gor I will make sure you will not be found guilty for this.

Gor also worried about his step sister, what would become of her? He was branded a freak and could well serve some time, even if he wasn't imprisoned he may have to work until it was decided he had repaid society."Marala.......she, will someone look after her?" He doubted it, Marala was old enough to be eligible for a job, even menial laborious tasks, but he had abandoned her. Gor's actions had left her with no Father figure, and as awful and evil as he was, who would be seen to protect her. Then to was the question as to what would happen with himself."And you? After you somehow convince the police, you'll just disappear in the same manner you just arrived." Gor stated it rather than asking, this man owed him nothing, the very fact he had materialised was miraculous in itself, plus Zed had been moved to seek to help him, who was he then? Gor hoped to discover the answer.

Marala is your sister?
The concern for himself that radiated off Gor was palpable. It was overshadowed by the concern for Marala. Whoever she was, most likely his sister it was evident this boy cared more about her than anything else in the world.
In truth I don't know what will happen. Maybe this set her on a path that will help her and better her life.
He doubted his own words but there was no point in being honest with Gor about it, not right now. In truth he felt that she would be set adrift dealing with everything she was witness to. Maybe she would be able to pull herself up and move on. He doubted it though.
The Force brought us together for a reason, I wont just vanish as if this never happened. Im not sure if you feel it but there is a connection here. A bond. I would like to help you after this, help you learn to control this power so that it doesn't happen again and maybe you can learn to live with what has happened.
If indeed he was able to get Gor out of this situation he would help in all the capacity he could.

Gor nodded to Zed's first question and took in what Zed followed up with. Gor hoped Zed was right. Gor, despite everything was determined to come out the other side of this and to see that Marala did get a better life. He was further comforted that Zed was willing and determined to see this through.
Zed then spoke about a connection and this was the first time that Zed had confirmed something for Gor, something Gor had been trying to piece together. Zed acknowledged that there was some sort of link, this explained then why Gor felt he understood and knew more than Zed openly declared, this was why Gor had trusted Zed.
Just then the door to the cell opened and the lighting from the corridor illuminated a short greying humanoid who leaned heavily on a stick. His almost ashen wrinkle etched face took in the scene with a set of sharp grey eyes. Slowly he descended into the cell and then braced himself against the cell wall. It was now clear from his uniform he was the ranking officer. He coughed politely then spoke in a calm voice that didn't bark and was neither loud, making the occupants listen.
"I am Chief Officer Narta Desh and I have for you an offer, a deal if you would be so kind to listen."
He paused momentarily then continued.
"Your client is force sensitive isn't he." This time he didn't pause, for it was a rhetorical question. "Those fangled gadgets haven't got the right brains to figure it out, they do sometimes make a whole bloody mess of things." He slowly shuffled forward and slid a datapad onto the small plasteel table. "Fifteen years of public repayment service for the crime of manslaughter under the watchful eye of this gentleman." He turned a shrewd glance toward Zed. "There are very few indeed with the type of security clearance you have, and it places you at a material level beyond mine. I don't know exactly who you are, but your clearance holds you to a duty to upkeep and uphold the law, you know this makes you and you alone accountable for Gor Onuw if you accept." He turned to address Gor. "You won't get a better deal, son, you have five hours to take it, then the situation is out of my hands." Narta waited a moment then leaned back onto his stick awaiting the response.

Before Zed could continue to speak a sentient being entered the room. The first one he had really seen since entering the precinct. Zed did not even need to see the mans uniform to know that he was someone of importance here, these people gave off their own aura. It was almost as if they radiated a sense of authority. It something about the way he held himself and walked. Standing himself Zed listened to the man speak, nodding in greeting when he offered his name.
Although he had never officially checked he had already known the boy to be force sensitive. He did not have an infinite number of pockets that seemed to have infinite space. There was no room for a device to test the midichlorians. He just intrinsically knew. Picking up the datapad he quickly read over the terms of Gors release. Desh had summed it up nicely, but Zed still wanted to be sure. You never knew when someone would put a clause in there that would screw with you.
I assume you weren't the one who made this deal Officer Desh. It seems pretty straight forward to me he said as he placed the datapad back on the table. I will only be liable for Mr Onuw should he choose to accept these terms. If he does then you have my word there will not be a repeat of todays event.
Turning his head back to Gor he raised his eyebrow questioningly which had a weird effect of stretching his ashen skin and making his face look mask like. Think about it Gor, you have no pressure from me to do this. We all must choose our own path, but my offer stands regardless of your choice here.

The older man simply smiled wanly as a response to Zed's question. He was not a man of vanity so did not wish to admit his role in at least definng the terms of the agreement, the terms concerning the boy. The Governor of the policing authority was driving to be seen to meeting out justice fairly whilst vying to be seen he was giving a more structured and beneficial route to youths who offended. Narta was wide enough to see it as a political move. Governor Qarjek wanted to look fair, yet assertive, he could later lay claim to this latest initiative being a resounding success, no doubt this would help the Governor's campaign later this year when he decided to run for political office. Whatever the reasons, the very fact that Gor may be given a second chance to Narta was at least one good thing the initiative did. Narta had seen a lot of criminals and murderers and the young man before him didn't fit either.
"I will leave you to discuss it..."
He was cut off as Gor advanced looked at the datapad, scrolled through it and pressed his thumb to the screen and then signed it with the stilus.
Narta just nodded knowingly collected the datapad and then extended his hand first to Gor, the two shook hands.
"Good luck."
He then too shook Zed's hand and just nodded once, the look exchanged between the two men didn't require anything further to be said. Collecting his stick Narta turned and shuffled his way out of the door, he paused turned back to survey the duo, simply shook his head with a slight smile and then disappeared from view as he made his way up the corridor
Gor remained at the table a moment, he seemed to examine his hand as though not quite sure what his body had done, having acted upon seeing this option as at least a way out. Having read the clauses he knew he was metaphorically shackled to Zed for a minimum of fifteen years, with review meetings to be held every month for the first six months, with the potential for these reviews to decrease to once a year and then every three years according to Zed's reports and the reports of the reviewer in question. Assuming they agreed and Gor maintained a clean record and was continuing to provide help and aid to society then this would be the case. It also fell to Zed to educate Gor in how to be an exemplary citizen.
Gor straightened and regarded Zed, searching his face for a response as to what to do next.
