Their fate is not in your hands, not anymore. For whatever reason you and the other Jedi left, you did leave. Moreover, you took the Republic fleet tasked with defending this system with you. You have failed these people, and for that there should be justice. But if you die here at the hands of the mob, where would justice be? The people of Ryloth don't need blood. They need a restored faith in the Jedi and in the Republic. Today proved that we cannot stand alone. But that will not be how they see it.
These people can recover for this. Twi'leks are a hearty people. They will rebuild. They need hope in the Republic. I need you to come back to Coruscant with me, to stand trial before the Republic. The charge is dereliction of duty. Defend yourself, take responsibility, and let us move on.

You and I agree, that I must pay for my mistakes. It is the method that drives a wedge between us. I do not trust justice, republic or otherwise, to be anything beyond as corrupt and sluggish as a hutt on hot sand. So I choose to live in service, to those I have wronged, not their leader or government. You would have me waste months or even years, as the republic figures out how to try a jedi without the possibility of him using the force to walk out unscathed, whether through mental manipulation or martial skill is irrelevant. Then it must find those willing to give honest testimony against a Jedi. Most witnesses available will construe things, in this case most likely against me, though you may find a few who would lighten the accusations against me. I have no time to waste for this Justice, let the force decide my fate as it guides all beings, even your people, through these perilous times. It saw fit to bring me back, and so I must stay until it calls me away. If you must have justice, make it swift, for I have work to do.

So your version of Justice is for you to go on doing as you wish? That's is the damnable attitude that God us here in the first place. The trial should be simple. No Senate hearing. No spectacle. Just a televised debate between you and I on the Senate floor. I am well known to have developed an immunity to the influences of the Force, taught so by your Jedi as we went on missions to fight against the Sith. I am not as weak minded as you suppose. Neither, will you find, is the Senate. And as the trial shall be broadcast on the Holonet, if you do anything, there will not be a place in the Republic where the Jedi are not despised. No indeed, if you Jedi possess any of the honor that you proclaim, that shall not be an issue. If it is, then the very Jedi might see you as a Sith and keep you in check.
If you wish to serve the people, then stand with the one that they have selected to represent their wishes. Or else, you might stand against the people. Ryloth with draw further into an isolationist stance, and open themselves up to further such attacks. Then neither you nor I will have the might to save my people from those that would force us into bondage once more. I am asking you, Jedi, be not like the rest of your Order. For once, put aside your pride for the greater good.

I have already said that I do not trust Justice, not as anyone knows it, so the answer to your question is obviously no. Yes it should be simple, but it won't be. You do not have the authority to dictate how I will be tried, only the right to press charges. You seek a public debate, but we have no difference of opinion to debate beyond the nature of my trial, so there can be no debate public or otherwise. And if was my pride that spoke now, it would, and does, dictate that I should exterminate the beings responsible for this attack, whatever the cost, and that would not end well, though you would be able to cross a few names off your very long list of living enemies. Neither you nor I have the might to save them now, we can only help them save themselves. If they choose a life of bondage, then we cannot help them, for they will be in chains that we cannot break. All I can do, is give them the tools to defend themselves, you can lead them in their defense as well as equip them, but neither of us can force them to fight. You seem insistent on having things your way, which speaks of arrogance, but you are also either brave or reckless, and probably both, considering your actions today alone. If you can get your so called "trial" set up, you will be able to contact me through the temple on Coruscant.
Suddenly dust and debris exploded from the area where Shihab had been standing, as he launched himself up and through a collapsed wall, into the sky above. He stayed low, dodging patrols until he returned to his ship. It still needed to have it's dorsal shields repaired, but he'd had planned for that eventuality, and had the spare parts and the necessary tools on hand. Shihab touched a piece of rubble and muttered a few phrases in Sith. The air around the ship becomes distorted slightly, as if by heat waves, and sounds seem to come from farther away than they should. This done, Shihab begins the half an hours work necessary to repair his damaged ship, He apparently has a court date to keep.

Crom'nen watched the Jedi leave. He still spoke, just as if the being could have heard him.
You have no idea. I can hold the trial in whatever way I want, one of the benefits of engineering the social contract of the Republic with Ryloth as I see fit. My arrogance knows no bounds, because I have earned it. I have always succeeded where others failed. My list of living enemies is quite short. Dead enemies, enormous. Living, nearly obsolete. Unfortunately, you've chosen to place yourself among them. That is your loss. I will see you at the temple. And you shall stand trial. I will have my day. You want to strengthen Ryloth? It needs unity. You shall provide that, my dear Jedi. Nothing brings people together like a common enemy. I will save my people. And I just might save yours too. Mahir, I will see you soon.
F'rarl, we're going to the ship, but we have to stop by the Obyrru.
Crom'nen stomped off. He could have summoned a vehicle. But in his anger, he wanted to walk, to work off any show of emotion before he arrived to the source of people. He only had a partial victory this day. The pirates were leaving and returning his people to their homeworld, but he had not gotten the Jedi under control, not by a long shot. That victory would wait.

Having done a deal with the planet's leadership, Arkan ordered his troops to release the captives they had taken and begin to withdraw to the ship. Most of his troops were outside the city but those few inside were embedded deep and difficult to find. However through the wonders of modern communications within a few minutes they were all on the move. It took four hours but eventually all the pirates were on board the ship and soon the cruiser was lifting off and leaving the atmosphere.

In accordance to his side of the agreement, he transferred funds in exchange for the released captives. It seemed unfortunate to pay such slime, but it was more expedient than destroying them through their hubris. With his end of the agreement done, he left for Kala'uun.

Shihab soon finished the necessary repairs, and was ready to leave. He crushed the stone, and the haze vanished, and sound travelled normally once more. He boarded his ship and made for orbit, broadcasting his Republic Military transponder ID. As he made orbit, he hailed the orbiting Dreadnaughts.

The Persuer-class "Chefs Demise" landed at the designated landing area.
-Sherer- "Why do we have to come here again, besides you oogling the Twileks?"
"I am a married man, darling. Why would you ever think such a thing? Besides, If these so called Exchange use Basilisk war droids, we need to take a look at any they might have destroyed. You know, 'know thy enemy'. With any luck, we can determine where they were made. Then, we can find the culprit... plus... I dont really want to leave mandalorian war materiel in the hands of the republic, if you know what I mean.
-Sherer- "Controlled det?"
Duke grinned and put on his helmet. The helmets lower part opened up so he could put the cigar back where it belonged. Then, he removed the infantry beam canon from his jetpack, removed all the explosives, and the mines. He also put the Flechette launcher and the heavy blaster back in their boxes. He donned the Jetpack, witch still had the combat shovel attached to it. Sherer did the same, disarmed herself all the way down to one holdout blaster. That one she put between Duke and his jetpack. The fuel in the jetpack would hide the small blaster from nearly all kinds of scans. She then put on a new belt, which had a machete attached to it. So, the mandalorians opened the airlock and walked out on the landingpad, with holsters empty, seeing if there was a welcomeparty.

Tra'fenn was personally waiting at the bottom of the ramp, holding two bottles in his hand. He was also surrounded by twenty soldiers. Unlike the Mandos, Twi'lek soldiers wore very little, proving their strength by not needing armor. It was a tradition of their people. The soldiers were all armed with rifles, fingers off the triggers. They did not bother to scan for weapons nor protest the machete. Tra'fenn, cousin of the famed Crom'nen, knew that he could not force their compliance anyway.
Greetings Warriors.
He tossed over a bottle of Rylothian spiced wine. He then pulled the cork from the other bottle and took a swig, his way of showing that the drinks were not poisoned. He had no reason to do so, yet. Around them, parts of the city still burned. The capitol building laid in ruins, parts of the Star Destroyer which dropped on the city still remained there. And there was further evidence of attack.
Which do you want to see first, the bodies, or the downed vehicles?

"Holy boly, you were not kidding."
The mouth under the Buy'ce spoke in awe. The two mandalorians did think a lot on PR, they wanted to show that they are 1: Mandalorians wearing Beskargam 2: Are here officially to settle an affair some idiots started. Duke took the spiced wine, jugged down about half of it and then reached it to Sherer, the female behind him. Her blue-white armour nearly shone beside Dukes dark green and red. She tasted it and shrugged shoulders. Duke himself liked the spicey wine, and at once was thinking about some nice new dishes. Unfortunetley, this was not a taste-journey. Serious business was on the menu.
"I am Duke Australis, this lovely being here is Sherer Skirata-Australis. Show me the bodies."
He wanted to see the bodies first, because he wasnt very sure how the wormheads would take his wishes of controlled detonation when it comes to Basilisks.
"What can you tell me about the attack? Something that was out of usual? Did you fight?... you know what? Start with the beginning. Now that I can see the city I might just picture what the heck is going on."
He locked the ship, set the alarm, and followed the nameless rylothian athletes.

Tra'fenn started to lead the Mandos along.
I'm not sure what more I can tell you that isn't on the news. A pirate fleet showed up in orbit and started to slug it out with the Republic fleet. The Jedi cowards abandoned the defenses and fled, leaving behind a derelict ship which crashed into the capitol, causing the burning you see here. Then the pirates came down. They attacked, and began rounding up civilians. Our warriors engaged them on the ground, while our Chir'daki engaged them in the air. They negotiated a surrender to Senator Crom'nen, then returned the civilians and left. They were dressed like that.
The pile of bodies was large. They stacked their disgraced enemy like cordwood. Each of them wore the armor of a Mandalorian. Feel free to help yourself. Our warriors took what weapons and explosives that we want, but we have no use for armor.

The large man just stood and watched the pile. It hit him hard, and Sherer knew. He saw his own clan like this, after him and Ashrah had piled them like that. Even if these were different people, they were still Mandalorians. Their guilt was not yet set, and thus they did not deserve to rot. Nobody does. After a moment he turned to Sherer.
-In Mando'a- "Buy'ce, Beskar'gam computers, personal belongings."
"Good captain, I will need all the helmets, and some fossil fuel. I dont think one more pyre will give or take from your atmosphere."
He cept personal belongings with him. Pictures of units he served with, a couple noughty clips from women he still remembered fondly, pictures of Myrkr. If even one of these Vode are were as sentimental as him, he could get a picture of who the hell they are and where they came from. Maybe even some hard data from the Armour on-board computers. It was good that the Twileks didnt care much for armour, they could use a lot of this. Sherer nodded and started checking the bodies and the armours, pulling a wire from her wrist computer and connecting them with the soldiers. Duke himself started the long work of removing helmets and piling them separately.
-In Mando'a- "Check for Beskar. Dont leave any behind."
Sherer nodded, and continued her work.

Tra'fenn was amazed to see such sentimentality from the humans for their enemy.
Any information that you find on our captured people would be appreciated. As I said, you are welcome to all that you want. We are going to more these bodies, and give them a ceremonial pyre in the Brightlands.

She was pretty shocked by the city destruction at once. As the subway exited the tunnel, several grasps were heard in the crowd as the still smoking ruins became visible. The slave just sat, without a collar, armed with an umbrella and an ornate stealth belt, she was ready to become a sleeper cell. She wasnt happy about it, it wasnt her choice. In lack of leadership, voting had expelled her from the Kalauun group. Her operations had lacked results, only making things worse. here, she can make things worse for herself now.
her papers held her to be an emigrant from zeltros. She soon started to try and find an apparmant. There was great confusion on the real estate market, some places saw great migration. people who moved to the smaller cave-communities fearing more attacks, or just fleeing memories of lost ones. This got some places to go cheaply. On the other hand, a lot was destroyed, so some places were rather expensive. Hotels and boarding houses were full, so the same for shelters.
Lucky for her, she had background founding. Money was relayed from Juvex to Anobis, Zeltros, Corulag then came strait from Corellia. Extremely hard to trace. She got a small condo close to what once was the municipal district, now a smoldering ruin. She wanted to be close to the destruction, and she had a good view of it. Someone of note should soon come by, and she could gain new targets.
To start off, she was greeted with mostly nothing. She came too late to the party as it is. People spoke in bars about the Silver Tounge, Crom'nen and his heroics. She noted down the name and looked him up. Senator. Hero. Some other articles described him as an egoistical prick. The second most intresting thing that happened was the mandalorians. She watched from her condo as a unit of soldiers seemed to escort two fully clad mandalorians around, checking and burning bodies.
She sent reports home through Zeltros.

Duke nearly said 'My first proposition still applies.' but stayed his words. If he remembered Crom'nens answers correctly, they wouldnt be too thrilled. Nor would Sherer. He shook his head.
"Dont be overzelous on my account. There is nobody here who knew them. Nobody to remember their faces or sing their songs. Just burn them."
He stepped into the fray, pulling helmets and armguard computers, piling it up. Him and Sherer found an occasional piece of Beskar. Not much, a handguard on a sword, a line in mesh underlay, a barce over a breastplate. All in all Duke guessed it to 2.3 kg-s. He was a chef, he was good at things like that. Duke and Sherer Bagged up the computers, helmets and beskar, some personal belongings.
"Just light them up."
They started back to the ship with their bounty. Duke didnt know if the two lekku-ed would stop him. They could always try. If not, Basilisks next.

Tra'fenn took a swig from his own bottle of wine. He nodded, and soldiers began to pile the bodies onto transports. No, they would not burn the bodies here. This city has seen enough fire. Tra'fenn followed them back to their ship, then led the back to the war droid, in the central part of the city, just somewhat to the south. The droid had been shot down, eventually. On it's way down, it had taken out a residence designed to house four families. There was far more left of the droid than the house. One thing was sure. It was the genuine article.
If you want this too, you'll save us the trouble of trying to remove it.

They loaded in the stuff, relocked the ship and followed. As the two mandalorians saw the Basilisk, their draws dropped so hard the helmets shook. There it was. Basilisk war droid. An ancient relic, made anew.
"Cant. Our ship isnt big enough. Will take it to pieces as mutch as we can, take what is essencial to find where it came from and then good old controlled det the rest. Plus, if I know my Basilisk history lessons right, and I god damned know it, there might be space mines in it. Not to mention self healing systems that could rejuvinate the beast at any given moment, and self destruction sequences. You might wanna take a couple steps back."
Half of it was just speculation and lies, Duke wanted to see the great warriors of the twin lekkued reaction to maybe getting blown to smitherines. Plus, he might not be so far off. With todays technology incorporated this thing could by theory have all the above mentioned feats.

Tra'fenn, being more of a bureaucrat than a soldier, and not as brave as his cousin, did step back. The soldiers, however, moved in and aimed rifles at the droid.
=Tra'fenn= Perhaps you would be generous enough to activate that self-destruct sequence and blow that thing to hell.

"Yeah? Why dont you go up there, find the processing unit by accessing the innards of that beauty, never mind optional traps. Then by hand, activate the self destruction sequence and start running. I will be standing over there by that building taking bets how many steps you can make before you scatter in a million nerf mignons."
He looked back at the mechanical beast from the building behind them where he is going to initiate controlled detonation. He was looking forward for it. It was an art form. Out of combat situation, when you have all the time in the world to set a beautiful little artefact. Thats what duke liked. This machine will need a proper farewell.
Scan it, get all the info you can. I will set the bomb.
-Sherer- Will you accept a nod, or shall I call you Husband'Alore?
The two mandalorians just looked at eachother for a moment without exchange while they spoke through communication units in the helmets. The silent discussion ended with duke waving sherer off and started climbing the beast. Sure, he could just have rocket jumped on top of it, but he rather has the rockets ready if there actually was a self destruction device. Sherer started calibrating her own scanner, and get to scanning.
As Duke got up, he could not resist. Just couldnt. He sat himself in the droids seat, just to get a feel for it. It was a powerfull (even if dead) machine. He felt like he could conquer the world from up there. No... all the resistance of good behaviour had left his body. He grabbed the rains with one hand, raised an other and swung it round and round, doing riding motions.
"YI PI KAY YAY!"
Sherer looked up at him. No talking, no gestures, just looked. She shot him down with a gaze. Even through the visor.
"All right..."
Duke started to look for a maintence hatch of some kind.
