The flagship of Reyn Australis was designed according to the aesthetic of the Mandalorian Beviin-class cruiser, however, this particular variant was created to serve as a command ship rather than a standard cruiser, and therefore carries modifications and outfittings not seen in the standard cruiser class. The vessel is not particularly agile, nor is it speedy. It is, however, solid as a rock, and can deal out some serious punishment if the need arises. She is a brawler who can duke it out at range, or come in close and wear the enemy's pounding in order to deal maximum damage.
The need to protect the ship led to additional shielding which adds to the ship's survivability in combat. Her expanded hangars and troop complement allow her to bring both a range of fighter and strike craft into battle, but also if the need arises, serve as a base for troop deployments against space or ground targets. This versatility makes her a fine choice as the lead vessel of any task force despite being on the small side for a command vessel. The vessel is also equipped for atmospheric insertion; and even landing should there be space to set down such a big vessel, though this is unlikely to ever be necessary.
The vessel is slab sided, with hull armour protecting the ship should her enhanced shielding fail her. The vessel is outfitted with standard military deflector shields to protect against energy and projectile attack, while her overlapping shields provide an additional boost to her defences. The expanded hangar and troop facilities allow the ship to carry more fighters and troops than a standard cruiser. Her powerful weapons arrays are balanced between long and short range, and geared to fight off both large and small craft, with excellent fields of fire, well covering the vessel's nine hundred meter length, making her a very dangerous opponent, and not a very palatable target.
Should an enemy attempt a boarding, the ship's complement of troops will be ready to meet them, ably assisted by internal defences and traps for the unwary intruder. The Red Rocket's internal layout is designed to channel any enemy into pre-prepared fire pockets; from where they will constantly be flanked by defending troops, no matter where the hull is breached. Heavy Turadium blast doors can seal off any section should the hull be breached, or the intruders need to be herded into position. Internally and externally, the Red Rocket is designed as a fortress.
