This was a rare time when Jin was also wearing her helmet. It was easier for her to keep on coms and have constant security updates popping up on the HUD. She had spent a good amount of time preparing for the pairs arrival. Her hand was resting on the hilt of her saber even as they were on the shuttle. As the ramp lowered, she was sure to be standing directly in front of Fiora, ready to intercept any attempted surprises. Relieved when none came, she would move aside and join at Fiora's side. The soon-to-be queen was sure to hear her muttering into her helmets coms, getting constant verbal updates from the security teams. Jin saw Silas and shivered. She did not like the man, him having been a part of Palpatine's Empire, she hated the thought that a man like that could have found his way into such close proximity of her beloved. Unconsciously, her grip tightened on her saber hilt as they came to a halt and he approached.

Cinnagar Royal Palace Silas had stayed with the bodies of the royal couple until the late hours of the night when the fight had finally been extinguished and resources were spared enough to transport their remains to the Palace. He was thus there when the Magistra had arrived in orbit and the changing of the Guard had gotten underway. Magisterium resources had been allocated from The Nox Cathedral to assist Hecate Ren and the Purge Troopers in their sweep of the Palace. Silas had been keeping a close eye upon the Palace for quite some time, but he did not begrudge the next Queen her own security measures.
As the sun rose over the Palace District, Silas had made his way to the Hangar Bay and was waiting with his Magisterium Terror Trooper's as the Assault Shuttle set down and Fiora disembarked with Jin and her Tribune Guards. Silas motioned his own guards back as the new Royal couple approached. Given his relationship with the previous Queen and King and his position within the Ren, he had been considered the best candidate for handling the transition period between the Monarchs. He held no official powers, merely acting as a conduit of information to bring Fiora up to speed.
He gave a bow from the waist as Fiora and Jin came to a stop, his hands well in view as he straightened back up and offered a welcoming smile. Despite his best efforts otherwise, Silas was well aware of his unpopularity with various people. But he did not let such things discourage him, merely adjusted his own actions to not provoke themYour Majesty... Knight Song... Welcome back to Empress Teta. I wish it was under better circumstances. The crash site has been secured and the fire extinguished, Emergency services are still tallying the numbers, but early estimates are twenty fatalities from the initial crash and fire, with hundreds suffering injuries. Otara and Antoran's bodies are in the chapel in closed caskets... I place myself at your disposal, My Queen.

It was reassuring to hear the muted muttering as Jin was busy doing the thing she did best: keeping Fiora safe. Honestly, after the security sweep and reviewing the constant reports from the Magisterium she had felt a lot safer and didn't expect an attack in the Palace. But that did not mean it was impossible and Jin was clearly prepared for any such surprises. As Silas greeted them both, Fiora focused her attention onto the Arch-Mage as he delivered a status report before placing himself at her disposal. Purge Troopers were already unloading the personal belongings for Fiora and her retinue and starting them off toward their destinations.
She wanted to go see the crash site herself, but she knew that between Jin and Silas, neither one would be willing to accept the security risk, especially while the accident was still being considered a murder. So she would have to settle for things within the confines of the Palace, which there was plenty to do within I'm not the Queen just yet Silas, not until the coronation... Have the staff meet us in the Throne Room in an hour. Before then, I wish to visit the chapel. I want your focus to be on the investigation, the sooner we have answers, the better...

Cinnagar Royal Palace He crossed his right arm across his chest to his left shoulder and gave a slight bow at Fiora's correction regarding her title and the circumstances under which she would assume the titleForgive my impertinence Your Highness, but from the moment the deaths of Otara and Antoran were pronounced, you became Queen of Teta. The coronation is simply a formality, a celebration of your crowning. A monarch must always sit the Throne... He gave a brief nod in understanding of her subsequent commands. He could do nothing to argue with them, instead his only option was to accomodate them as best he couldBy your command. He gave another bow, before heading off into the depths of the Palace to gather the staff together under Hecate Ren's watchful gaze. Once that task was done, he made for a small office suite from which he could receive updates regarding the ongoing investigation and clean up efforts

With Silas dispatched off to gather the staff and focus his attention on the investigation, Fiora could only hope his lack of presence would help ease the tension she felt from her girlfriend. As it stood, things were bound to remain on a heightened alert, especially once the crash was found to have been on purpose and those responsible arrested. For now, however, Fiora lead the way to the Palace Chapel where the Coffins of the previous Monarchs were sat waiting. She took some time paying her respects and saying good bye to her friends and now predecessors before moving on to the Throne Room. There she would meet the staff and start getting to know them and figuring out who would remain a good fit and who would join the inevitable wave of replacements...
A Couple Months Later
Since her coronation as Queen of Empress Teta about a week after the crash, Fiora had not made the trip bac to Prakith or even over to Coruscant. The weeks and months since taking the Throne officially had been filled with learning how to govern a planet and all that it entailed. A task she had managed to make much easier on herself when she had started implementing an elected body of representatives. The planet had been divided into various districts based on a number of initial factors and then representatives had been voted and chosen by those living in each area. On the scale of a planet, it had proved valuable to have some power and responsibility ceded to the council, whilst Fiora still held oversight of and final sign off on decisions.
It gave her the breathing room she needed to grow into her new role as Queen, which in turn offered her the time to review what the council was working on. While she hoped the Council would be a good long-term solution, she was also making sure she was prepared in the event something went wrong. Given their limited powers, corruption like what typically ran rampant in similar such bodies should be avoided. But it was never a guaranteed matter.
As she sat in the Throne Room, several holoprojections threw up various reports and documents for the Queen to review. The most prominent of which, was the latest progress report from Silas. It had taken Silas and the Magisterium a couple weeks to determine the crash was no accident, followed by a couple weeks more to begin arresting those responsible. Since then, a string of arrests had been made as they worked their way through the organization and joined the dots. However, Silas' latest report indicated that the identity of the culprit behind everything had finally been determined. A fact which had caused her to sit up that bit straighter in the Throne.
Keying some controls, she brought up calls with Silas in The Nox Cathedral and Harnan upon Prakith. As the calls rang, the Tribune Guard went to work securing the doors and windows of the Throne Room. By the time their work was done, the calls had been answered, with Fiora inclining her head to each in turn Arch-Mage Darkstar... Master... The latest report seemed to indicate we know who was behind the murders?

Silas had been waiting for the call since delivering his report and so his holographic projected form appeared quickly, with the Arch-Mage giving a formal bow from the waist as he was greeted Your Majesty... He waited a moment to allow Haran to give his own greeting before proceeding when Fiora brought up the matter of the latest report and the identity of the culprit. It would have been unwise to put too much detail in his report, leaving the proper answers to be given in a face to face meeting or via call like this was much safer. He worked some controls, which caused another projection to appear showing the mug shots of everyone involved and their relationships so far. At the tip sat a rotating question mark As you're aware, we've spent months working our way through this organization, starting with the mechanic that had last worked on the speeder. It would appear these were the actions of mainly hired help, with only a couple of the higher ups having affiliation with each other and being successors to the group that had been involved with Elisjar's murder... However, we always had the suspicion that there was someone much further up the food chain orchestrating things... He activated some further controls which opened a number of other investigative files relating to the deaths that had gone done around the same time across the Empire. Similar such organizational structures appeared, albeit some much smaller than others Much like on Teta, the deaths of our allies on other worlds turned out to be more than what they initially appeared. We also suspect them to all be connected, perhaps not by the same person, but by a small handful of them... In the course of our interrogations, details have trickled out from various suspects that have al matched too much to be simple coincidence. We've mocked up models and sketches from their testimonies, but this one, I think, will be pertinent to you most of all... The suspect trees disappeared and were replaced by an almost life sized sketch of a male wearing white and gold armour, his face obscured by shadows This is the main suspect in the Teta case, along with at least a half dozen other deaths... Upon being questioned, Brock's name was given up, along with names of a number of other Imperial Knights... We are unearthing further details and proof pointing to these same people. We've still got a number of cases we're actively investigating from intervening months that all seem likely to be related... He did express a look of regret when laying out the details of the investigations thus far. It was not particularly pleasant to have to inform someone that at least one of their Uncles was currently trying to come after them. But his news was not about to get any better I wish I had better news, but it would also appear we have early indicators pointing to some cases being linked back to Baltasar as well...

His own holographic form came into existence a few moments after Silas, clad in his full armour. He gave a nod of his head when greeted Fiora. He stood silently then as Silas launched into the presentation regarding the Magisterium's current findings for the Teta case and those of their allies and friends from across the Empire. It was impressive work, with Silas overseeing and coordinating teams across several worlds. Harnan expected nothing less of the Arch-Mage, a man whom he had taken a chance on and trusted was capable of carrying out the tasks laid at his feet. As the revelations regarding the involvement of Brock, the Imperial Knights, and Baltasar were delivered, Harnan's full attention was on the displays now. His gaze seeming to pierce through the sketch being projected. He crossed his arms and let out a sigh as he shifted his gaze to Fiora I'm sorry...

She sat almost motionlessly in the Throne as Silas delivered his report, her helmet serving to mask any physical emotions that crossed her face. As the revelations began, she did her best to keep her composure as Silas spoke of the organization upon Teta and then moved on to those on other worlds. But then the real revelations started to hit as a sketch was projected in the air in front of the Throne and Silas detailed the involvement of her Uncle and a number of Imperial Knights in the attacks. But it was not just Brock alone, but Baltasar as well. She had still not forgiven either one regarding their hands in how Nicademus' death and last days had proceeded.
Roland had certainly tried to quell the tempest of anger she had felt toward Brock back on that fateful day. But with these revelations coming to light, it merely reinforced the idea her cousin had been trying to cover for the man who was his adopted Father. Not that she could fault him for such an action. It was certainly possible he wholly believed that Brock had not had any malicious intention and that Baltasar was the one responsible for how events played out. Perhaps she might have even come to believe that herself, but the truth was that she had always held some doubt about it all.
Brock was an Imperial Knight, THE Imperial Knight. He'd basically served as the Order's Grand Master ever since Fain had married Nicademus, giving him the power and position from which to act. Much as Harnan's disdain for the Imperial Knights was well known, so too was Brock's disdain for the Knights of Ren. A number of incidents had cropped up over the years, and his own return had been marred by a Purge within the ranks of the Imperial Knights. She had read the reports regarding the attempted coup that a number of Knights had attempted to pull off in the early days of the First Order. After it had been foiled, Brock had returned to the Imperial Knights. A coincidence perhaps. Or a perhaps the sole survivor destined to live on?
As for Baltasar? He had never publicly said anything, but he had never approved of Nicademus' marriage to her Mother. Like a lot of Imperials, he viewed the Ren as distasteful and evil simply because of their use of the Darkside of the Force. His actions had likely been in part to try and alienate her from the rest of her Family as punishment for choosing to follow through with joining the Ren. But he'd also undoubtedly had no desire to travel to Prakith with any haste to collect his Niece and take her back to her dying Father. His own distrust of the Ren quite apparent when he had collected her and refused to give any answers or explanation. She had no doubt some lingering dislike of the Imperial Knights existed, but to a much lesser extent than that which he held for the Ren.
She shifted ever so slightly in her seat, her right hand curling into a fist as she considered what this meant and what it might mean. She shot a glare toward Harnan, even as he seemed genuinely apologetic about it all. She had no doubt he took some joy in this news, glad to have a reason to go after the Imperial Knights with a justified reason. But there still remained a couple matters left to discuss and handle Do we think this is just the work of my Uncles? or does my Brother have some hand in this as well?

It was an expected and logical conclusion to come to, and one Silas knew he would have to tread very carefully around. Trying to implicate Octavian would have been a much more difficult prospect. Would it have been possible? maybe. But Baltasar and Brock were the easier targets to pin down. Their motives were much more obvious and believable. He cleared the projection from the investigations as he focused his attention upon Fiora We can't definitively discern his involvement, or lack thereof, in these events. It's very possible that Brock and Baltasar are the ultimate culprits, with Octavian merely serving as a puppet for their reign from the shadows whilst the Knights of Ren are in the picture... We do obviously have to consider the very real prospect that Octavian has been involved from the start. As Grand Master of the Imperial Knights, it would be difficult to believe he did not know or has not become aware of what is going on...

Although he could not see her face and any reaction she might visibly give off, what she was not doing told him everything he needed to know about what she believed. Her questions only served to cement the truth of the matter. He waited a moment, letting Silas interject his own findings and conclusions thus far, before Harnan interrupted the Arch-Mage What ever his involvement is, Brock and Baltasar remain the primary threats right now. Their respective roles and titles mean that defending ourselves will be... difficult... I do not mean to harp upon my point again, but even if we assume Octavian is innocent, it's difficult to believe he would side with us against them, even with the proof we have... But ultimately, the decision rests with you Fiora... What ever happened next would need her support. She was, after all, an Heir to the Empire

They couldn't rule out Octavian's involvement, but neither could they confirm it. Of course that was their response. Without a clear answer, they would have to make an educated guess based on all available information. Holding the title of Emperor and Grand Master of the Imperial Knights meant Octavian surely had to know what was happening. But if he did, was he trying to stop it? or was he in fact encouraging it? Her Brother's own distaste for her choice to join and continue training with the Ren had been barely concealed over the years. He probably thought she hadn't noticed the dirty looks he gave when she was dressed in her full armour. Nor did she forget or let go unnoticed the comments he made.
She wasn't sure what was worse: believing him complicit or even the mastermind of this attempted cull, or believing that he was oblivious to what was happening and was little more than a puppet Emperor for her Uncle's. One of them was true, but which one remained to be seen. But which ever it ended up being, something needed to be done.
As the Mastermind of this atrocity, he needed to be removed from the Throne for his crimes against his own citizens and to stop him going further and wiping out the Ren. As a puppet, then he was too weak to rule and see the treason that their Uncle's were committing behind his back. Nicademus had raised the First Order and put it together. It needed someone capable of keeping it together and not betraying the values it was built upon.
She kept her right hand tightened in a fist upon one arm of the Throne as she studied Harnan and Silas. This was not the kind of situation she had wanted to find herself within, but she had seen glimpses of this event too many times to consider it merely a possible future. Her visions had never given her a definitive answer as to what the truth was. Her decision was all her own to make What you have explained and are asking of me, is whether or not to go to war with my brother and uncle's... It would seem there are very few if not no other options. The lives of our allies and the Ren are in danger while these attacks go unanswered... She paused a moment, letting the weight of her decision sink in, allowing her one final moment to change her mind before committing to a course of action Prepare our battle plans... To save ourselves and the Empire...

Jin had been busy since the transition of power. She made sure to personally vet and interview all current and new staff that would be working in the palace. But today she had found time to stand at Fiora's side. Her helmet tucked under her arm as she stood dutifully by. She heard the conversation, she decided to hold her tongue, and see where things lead. The bodyguard could not have anticipated the bombshell that Silas dropped. Brock, attacking the Ren and murdering their allies through such covert means. The news twisted something in her stomach. She hadn't interacted much with the man, maybe a nod in the halls of the Palace, a word of sympathy at the late Emperor's funeral, but he had always seemed an honorable man. Even if he didn't much approve of Jin, being trained by the Knights of Ren. Then the topic of Octavian's potential involvement had come up. Jin couldn't believe it. He had never been anything but pleasant. Hells, he had brought her to a fancy imperial ball to surprise Fiora. But still, Jin held her tongue and took deep breaths to ease the queasy feeling growing in the pit of her stomach. But then she heard words she hadn't imagined would be spoken, not by Fiora anyway. A declaration to prepare for war... Civil War. Jin lost her grip, literally, as her helmet hit the throne room floor and she stepped forward, placing a hand on Fiora's wrist. Fior- Uh, Highness, please. Jin looked down at her love. Concern written across her face, Jin seemed to have lost her ability to properly think or put her thoughts into words, she just, in this moment, knew she could possibly stop a war. And she would hate herself forever if she didn't at least try. She whispered one more time. Please.

Silas barely reacted to the sound of the helmet dropping beyond a brief flicker of his gaze towards where he was certain Jin was standing just out of range. As she stepped forward and whispered to Fiora, he said nothing and instead offered the Queen-turned-Empress a bow of submission. He had been given orders and he would carry them out until she advised otherwise As Your Majesty commands... His projected image flickered out of existence from the Throne Room, whilst back at The Nox Cathedral he got to work focusing the Magisterium's attention upon war preparations. While he had foreseen the remote possibility that Jin might triumph and avert the war, the more likely threads of fate were not in the woman's favour. Better to carry out orders given, and adapt to the situation as it changed. He was prepared for a lot of outcomes, including Jin's victory

Much like Silas, Harnan barely let Jin's appearance affect his composure or actions. He gave a nod of his head to Fiora as she commanded him to prepare battle plans. It was a simple enough request, but one which carried a great deal of weight and consequence The Knights stand ready to serve you, Empress Fiora Ren... His own image disappeared in that moment as well as the Master of the Ren set his own focus to what would come next. Orders would soon be sent to Byss which would lead to the fleets in waiting there moving from the Fortress World out across the Deep Core to shore up their defences. Fleet Commands would be changed and updated to expand the forces various individuals commanded

She did her best to remain stoic as she heard Jin's helmet hit the floor and felt her girlfriend's hand grip her wrist a few moments later, pleading with her. As the holoprojections of Silas and Harnan each gave their own acknowledgements before finally disappearing, Fiora allowed herself to slump back into the Throne. She'd been on edge and sitting at attention throughout the report and conversation that had followed so much so it hit her hard when the call finished. Empress Fiora Ren. She had accepted that she would never hold such a Title when she was much younger and Octavian had been designated as the Heir Apparent by Nicademus. But a single conversation and decision had bequeathed upon her such a role. By preparing for war, she was laying claim to the Throne regardless of Octavian's role in all of this.
As she gave herself a moment to decompress, she turned her focus to the hand gripping her wrist and the woman she loved that was its owner. They were alone in he secure room, save for the Tribune Guard whom stayed at their positions around the space. She brought her other hand over and laid it to rest atop Jin's as she looked up to the concerned expression she found there You, of all people, have no need to address me by title Jin... Speak...

Jin seathed a little as the other two, the ones who had Fiora's ear and supposedly her best interests at heart, did nothing to try and temper the call for war. The knots twisting even tighter in her stomach as Fiora looked up at her. Her free hand shaking, raised up, cupping where Fiora's cheek would be under the mask. Then, slowly so as not to jar Fiora, she removed the helmet and threw it aside with her own. Now she was looking right into Fiora's eyes. "Better" she thought. But that was not the word that came from her voice, now shaking about as much as she was. Please, talk to him. Reach out to Octavian. Thoughts flooded into Jin's mind, her time at the palace was replaced by the times she had spent in the Coruscant undercity, and loosing her parents to violence. The thought of that happening to millions, possibly billions, of other children seemed to be too much for Jin as one of her knees gave out and she ended up kneeling. Tears starting to form in her eyes. If- if you don't trust him yourself, at least let me talk to him! Give me a data pad with what the Arch-Mage has found and I will hand deliver it to Octavian. Please! Jin's voice was breaking as she broke eye contact and rested her head on top of Fiora's hand.

She sat still and tipped her head only as Jin gripped her helmet and pulled it off, allowing her red hair to fall loose across her back. She could already guess what was going to be said based on how much hr girlfriend's hand was shaking. But it felt like a punch to the gut as Jin's voice wavered before finally falling to a knee and pleading with her. She lifted one hand away as Jin rested her head down. She gingerly ran her hand through Jin's raven hair, trying to console her friend. She had already suffered the pain of learning her Uncle's were trying to kill her Order's allies to make taking on the Knights themselves much easier. Seeing Jin like this, though, was a whole other pain and burden.
She could understand where Jin was coming from. War was cruel and unkind. But the truth of the matter was that war was inevitable. She brushed Jin's hair aside and rested her hand against her girlfriend's cheek Jin... I... hmmmm... She ran her thumb across Jin's cheek, wiping away at the tears that marred her face How could I send you, the one person I have left, if I don't trust him... don't trust them... to go myself? All they will have to do is claim innocence and... Her thumb came to a stop upon Jin's cheek as Fiora fought to maintain her own control You know what they think of us... Whether Octavian is involved or not, why would he believe any of this? Brock trained him to be an Imperial Knight, and Baltasar has stood at his side as a military commander and doting Uncle... Neither of them have any reason to admit to their crimes... I'm the black sheep, remember? It had been a role she had been more than happy to accept and live with, when Nicademus had been alive and sat the throne, because he kept Brock and Baltasar in check. Neither of them nor the branches they were apart of, would have dared do this before I can't stop you from leaving... But I beg you... do not go to him. You'll be handing them the one piece of leverage they'd ever need... She shifted her lower hand around and she lifted Jin's face up off her knee as she leaned her face down I'd give everything to get you back... She pulled Jin's face up a little more and pressed her lips to her girlfriend's forehead

Jin felt like the floor had dropped right out from under her. How? How was this happening? The woman struggled to keep herself from falling backwards, sinking down onto both knees. She looked at Fiora, struggling to see her clearly through the tears that now clogged her eyes. How could she not see and understand? This wasn't right. Jin tightened her grip on Fiora's wrist, she didn't intend to hurt her girlfriend and charge, but her emotions were running rampant and it may have been tighter than intended. Fi, I would wager my life for the lives of the countless others who will suffer if this war is not stopped now. Octavian isn't just your brother to me, he's a friend. He deserves a chance to explain himself. Please. Jin broke her eye contact again, lowering her head, almost like one waiting for the headman's ax. She had a feeling she knew what the final answer would be and just couldn't bring herself to look Fiora in the eye as she spoke it.

Fiora found herself pulled forward as Jin fell down onto her knees crying. It was painful to see her girlfriend in this state, a pain which was given some more amplification due to the force with which Jin was gripping her wrist. But despite the pain she felt, her focus upon the woman she loved did not waver. She could feel the cracks within her own heart start to form in the face of Jin's protest, a feeling which was relieved somewhat as Jin's face fell forward, dropping from the grip Fiora had held upon it. There was little, if anything, her Brother could explain to change what was about to happen. Him voluntarily relinquishing his claim to the Throne was a long shot, and her Uncle's would command more combined forces than Jin could take on alone. However, it seemed less and less likely that she could dissuade Jin from such an action And what of the thousands that have already lost their lives in Brock and Baltasar's quest for power so far? I do not wish my Brother dead Jin... I still hold hope he is innocent... She reached out her free hand and placed it upon the top of Jin's head as it face her I know I cannot stop you from this course of action, nor would I ever try to, as much as it breaks my heart... She let out a pained sigh, feeling a tightness wrapping around her heart. She removed her hand from Jin's head and grabbed the datapad sitting upon her Throne and held it out Take it... Give him a chance to peacefully surrender and abdicate. No explanation he can give will excuse what has happened. I will hold off any plans as much as possible to give you time to meet with him, so... be quick and be safe...

Jin hadn't expected to win this chance. She looked up at Fiora, even before glancing at the data pad, she sprang forward and wrapped her arms around Fiora. The urchin had thought her loves mind had been made. But she had relented, and was granting Jin a chance to hopefully avoid a civil war, at least not between Fiora and Octavian. Jin buried her face in Fiora's hair and neck. She pulled back a bit so that she could again look the Queen in the eyes. I will return to you with answers, Fi. She then kissed her girlfriend, for what Jin knew could be the last time, if things were as bad as they may have seemed on that data pad. But now she was hopeful, there was a chance. Jin stood up, breaking away from the kiss. She collected both hers and Fiora's helmets and returned the Queens. And then she took the data pad. I promise, I will come back. She leaned down and gave her queen, friend, and love one more kiss, for luck. Before she turned and started to leave. She would be taking only her own personal fighter, she didn't trust anyone else in this moment, not after the abrupt readiness the Silas and Harnan had shown at the declaration of war. Something was just beyond the vail. And Jin was determined to find out what. While Jin wasn't sure what she would find in this data pad or on Coruscant, she did know one thing: She would not become a liability for Fiora, no matter what.
