A custom vessel, designed as a joint venture between MandalArms, MandalMotors, the Vegemite Enclave, and Mon Cala Engineering, designed to emulate the Vegemite Star Destroyer while retaining the Mon Calamari aesthetic, the Pelagia-class's toughness and overlapping fields of heavy fire are key to her success. Though she is not the most agile of capital ships due to her sheer mass, she is designed to fight against a hostile galaxy, and be the herald of doom for the enemies of the Vegemite Enclave.
This state of the art heavy destroyer of the Vegemite fleet retains many of the VSD's features, though the hull is a design by Mon Cala shipwrights for use by the Vegemite Navy. As with the VSD, key to the success of this vessel is high automation, which allows for it to function with a very limited crew, with most personnel on board functioning as support for the troops and fighters.
The Pelagia class retains the VSD's large ventral cannon, which draws power directly from the main reactor, allowing for a huge damage potential. Turbolasers and Ion Cannons augment this colossal firepower. For point defence, the ship has one hundred quad-laser turrets and space for almost two hundred fightercraft. With all this power, a self destruct option was necessary, to prevent the craft falling into hostile hands.
Additionally, the vessel is equipped with the VSD's twenty meter long deployable prow ram, nicknamed 'the cuke' by the Vegemites, able to pierce the shields and hull of enemy vessels and cause maximum damage. The bow of the vessel is heavily reinforced to assist in this favoured tactic; often a prelude to boarding operations.
Praise the Sun!
