The call had gone out. And despite his preference to have remained training Shel within the core, he had reluctantly agreed to make the trip with her to Muunilinst. While he detested gatherings and events such as these, he knew he could not avoid them. It had been his hand that had weakened the Ren, and now part of his penance was appearing at these events. Unlike his sister's ability to blend through the crowd of Imperials, Harnan stood out clad in his armor. His presence causing people to make haste in getting out of the way. As much as he did not belong here, no one was willing to risk their life trying to tell him as much.
This allowed him and Shel to get through into the meeting area undisturbed, where a quick pull of the Force drew him to the outer wall, where he found Neith standing there, waiting for them. He didn't say a word, as he walked up behind her. His height allowing him to look over her head to the podium area as he crossed his arms. Waiting to see just what exactly Nicademus wanted to talk about so urgently. He turned his attention slightly to Shel for a moment Allow me to introduce my sister, Neith Ren. Neith, this is Fleet Admiral Shel Hu...

Wearing her usual uniform, Jenia watched the ceremony from afar, being so far present among the ranks of other fleet officers as the gathered admirality was present. Assuming that Commodore Viggo would be present as well, unless unexpected interferences required his attention, it wasn't all too much of a struggle for Jenia to arrive unlike the last time, as the Banshee fleet was currently patrolling around the capital worlds of the First Order for quite some time. Soon enough their route would lead them to New Carida, if they kept to the imperial flight plan and nothing all too surprising would occur.
Yet, the Emperor was always up for surprises. Not that Jenia minded it too much. As a Rear Admiral she was used to getting surprised, no matter if it was an ambush, another assassination attempt or even certain Imperial Knights. But in the end, she knew that despite all planning, nothing is permanently stuck on routine, no matter how many First Order officers out there on their ships might think of the new established order as something guarenteed. Especially now, that galactic peace seemed to be in near range for a restored Empire to grasp, it made Kasalle even more careful than ever before, when it came to her own troops. And probably this meeting, no matter the news of it, was no exception. Whatever was to come, she would accept what it would be. As sometimes there was probably no other choice.

Brock looked over the crowd from his position near the podium from where the Emperor would soon begin speaking, his white and gold armor sticking out from those of other nearby Imperial Knights, he wasn't on official duty and as such hadn't felt the need the change into the more traditional red armor. He may not have been assigned protection duty for this address but he was still intent on keeping an eye out for whatever dangers might present themselves. With a crowd of so many high level First Order personnel would make this speech a good target for the enemies of the Empire. He kept a special eye on the Ren in the room, noting their presence and making sure to know where they stood at all times. No matter the assurances given and trust displayed by the Emperor Brock would never feel comfortable with them around and he was committed to being ready when they inevitably made their move to secure their own power. In truth having the Ren to keep an eye on at least gave him something to do while he waited for the Emperor's address. He wasn't exactly interested in the Emperor's announcement of a new wife, but he had been specifically ordered to be in attendance in person today and so he was here. He figured that the new Empress would be another of the Ren so that the Emperor could continue his attempts to assure a loyalty that couldn't be won. In any case whoever it was it wasn't likely to effect him, it would just give him someone else to worry about, either as an enemy or someone else who would need the protection of the Imperial Knights. However things turned out today though it was likely to just be another Imperial address where everyone would cheer and be happy but nothing revealed today was likely change his everyday life or duties very much and as such Brock settled in for a long span of standing and listening... just what he wanted to do with his day.

Shel had traveled to Muunilinst when the call came out. The Core and her fleet would be fine for a few days without her. Wearing full dress uniform and a slightly fancier eye cover, Shel followed behind Harnan as he made the way easier for the short woman. She gave a bow to Neith.
=Shel= A pleasure to meet you.

Garrick, not particularly fond of such social events, had decided to attend purely out of curiosity, and a quiet hope that this would hopefully amend the slip in judgment known as Illaria Ren. He had heard that the woman had virtually disappeared off the face of the galaxy, and Garrick was quietly happy about this fact. While he believed that they were useful so long as they were in the service of the Empire, he also believed they were not to be trusted. That, combined with their relatively new presence on the face of the galaxy, and the exploits of the man known as Harnan Ren, made Garrick revile them all the more.
Even so, however, he knew that was likely not the reason for this announcement. Most likely some sort of informational campaign, or a declaration of war on some other group that had crossed the First Order. Even so, though, the air in the room was very different from what he had anticipated. The Ren especially seemed on edge. He could pick out a handful of familiar faces in the crowd, namely Harnan Ren, unsubtle as ever in his titanic suit of armor, Shel Hu, who he had seen over Kuat; Krzemir Viggo, and Jenia Kasalle. Who was standing in rather close proximity to his own son, Lucien. The two of them had evidently become fast friends, and at such events, they would often be seen together. Quietly, Garrick hoped there was more to it than that, as he believed Jenia was a fine officer, and she would bring great prestige to the Needa family. However, these were just the thoughts of an old man with too much time on his hands, and he would ultimately respect Lucien's choices in this regard. He had lost his son once before, and he didn't fancy losing him again.

Her curiosity rising for a moment as sensed that he was not alone, though she dared not turn around. Neith chuckled as her comments managed to make the Vice Admiral blush. She leaned in a bit closer, examining Shel's reaction in hopes of gleaning any additional information about what may or may not have been going on between the two Hmmm, is that so... I would ask who this imposter is that has replaced my Brother, but... His presence is unmistakable. That's him in there... She turned her gaze up to Harnan then, that same mischievous grin plastered across her face. Before returning her attention back to Shel Perhaps he really has changed for the better... Harnan remained silent as Neith and Shel had their greeting. His Sister clearly enjoying this chance to question Shel and perhaps try and embarrass him with her comments. He shifted his gaze down to meet hers as she looked up at him. He shook his head and sighed as he kept an eye upon the stage when Neith returned her own attention back to Shel Having fun Sister?

In stark contrast to his father, Lucien Needa felt right at home at such social events, and in the past, he might have been seen talking to a beautiful woman or two. But now was not the time, nor the place for that, and he had other commitments in that regard anyway. Besides, he was certain his father was in this room, and he would hate to disappoint. And so, as such, he stood stoic in his uniform, the lights in the room causing a slight glitter on the duraplast chest plate. Naturally, he had chosen not to wear a helmet for this occasion, simply wearing his armor, with a standard imperial knight Lightsaber attached to his waist. It was certainly a more formal setting then he had been used to, as he had recently returned from fighting rebels in the muddy swamps of Mimban, and he had only just finished thoroughly removing all of the mud that had ingrained itself in his suit of armor.
As he surveyed the crowd, he picked out a few familiar faces. The Grandmaster Nikulin was of course present, as was his compatriot Brock Ferrum. While he had integrated himself fairly well into the Imperial Knights, he would have to get to know Ferrum better. Nearby was some tall guy in armor, standing next to two women; this was likely the infamous Harnan Ren, as renowned for his ruthlessness in battle and his various romantic escapades in equal measure. However, there was one face in particular he was looking for; one he hadn’t seen since the fateful ball above Kuat. Scanning the crowd for a familiar shock of silver hair, and after a few moments of scanning the crowd, he noticed Jenia Kasalle, off by herself as usual. It was likely she was trying to isolate herself again, for fear of interacting with the other officers. However, Lucien would likely be a welcome surprise, as she considered him to be a close friend at this point. Just how close was anyone’s guess; and only Lucien and Jenia themselves knew the answer to that question. And they weren’t exactly inclined to share.
Walking over to Jenia with the same sort of jaunty confidence as when they had first met, he decided that some sort of embrace would not be fit to show in public here, as it would just about confirm all the rumors that were swirling around about the two of them, and so he elected for a simple handshake.
“Je-Rear Admiral Kasalle, it’s been a while. How have you been?”

Looking up surprised briefly, Jenia looked at Lucien first as if this was the most inappropriate thing he had just done. They were in the middle of a ceremony, in front of the Emperor! What was he even thinking - shouldn't he stand at the Emperor's side right now, just as one of the Imperial Knights? Sometimes Jenia wasn't even sure why she had so much patience with the younger Needa, as he had sometimes the talent to do things opposite to what she expected to see. Then again though, maybe this was his tactic. Thus she calmed herself down, taking the formal approach so far formal in hopes that noone around them would interpret too much into it. Master Needa, she solely said with a brief nod, shaking his hand briefly, before continiueing whispering, once he stood in line with the rest of the surrounding officers, "So far I can't complain. The fleet is fully operational as usual." She didn't asked back, as she assumed Lucien was fine. Otherwise he wouldn't have seeked her presence. Something where she admitted, that she wasn't sure whether his loyality towards the Emperor was higher than his loyality to her. And even more astonishing - she neither knew what she liked better. Even from afar, she has sensed her brother's presence. The feeling growing stronger as he drew closer to her, her attention remaining upon the stage until at last he stood right behind her. Her curiosity rising for a moment as sensed that he was not alone, though she dared not turn around. At least not until he finally spoke, her cloak fluttering through the air as she set her gaze upon the woman he introduced as Shel Hu. But for now, she quickly turned her attention back to Shel Jenia looked up concerned, as she suddenly felt as if she was being watched from afar. Realizing solely that one of the Ren knights seemed to have looked over to her, the blood in her veins froze. Did he - or she?- just watched her specifcally? Or the officer corps in general? To some point she could swear that this individual had looked over to her, but given that all the Knights of Ren wore those cold, threatening masks in a similiar fashion as once the legendary Darth Vader it was hard to tell. Perhaps she just overthought things too much, as there was nothing for which she could be accounted for. At least nothing what she would remember. Maybe a coincedence. Only keeping the appearence of the mask in mind, she decided that she wouldn't stare back in hopes that it meant no trouble for her and her fleet. Although the Ren were allies of the First Order and thus the Emperor and technically the de jure overlords of her homeplanet, Jenia had heard the stories of what they were capable off upon the battlefield. Thus it was always the prefered option for her to stay under the radar of force users, since she knew from expierience and in reminder of Lord Sinistra's Empire how subordinates under those beings could fare, if they displeased those whom they served. She trusted the Ren, but only to a certain degree.

Commodore Viggo had arrived later than he liked but not late, by some miracle. His attire, might be questionable but it was an official officer uniform of the FO. It was just the utility version often worn by mechanics and fighter crew officers, barely a step up from a flight suit in looks and barely a step down from the same in utility. He saw his superior officer more or less exactly where he expected to find her. He was not expecting to see the young Needa so blatantly standing beside her. He might as well be screaming so far as the rumor-mongers were concerned. Viggo only hoped it wouldn't cause his superior any extra trouble, some of her fellow admirals might view such attentions as a sort of favoritism which might affect their willingness to work with her in the future. After all, everyone knows only moffs hold grudges better than admirals.
Seeing that she was wound a little on the tight end of the spectrum, probably thanks the brash Lucien, Viggo took position on her left side opposite the Knight. He stood at ease, and with a quick glance about the room slipped a hand into the utility pouch on his right leg, producing something between a flask and a thermos. It's cap capable of functioning as a cup, and well insulated, but wider in one dimension than the other. He pressed the container against her left hand, offering it to her. He whispered to her out of the side of his mouth, so as to give watchers as little information as possible, though even Lucien would hear him clearly. His face betrayed no emotion, and stayed rigidly pointed to his front, though his eyes wandered freely over what he could see of the crowd.
"Have a sip o' shig ma'am. You're wound tighter than a Verpine power coil, and you'll need a cool head for the evening with Sir Brashington flying at your flank. Oh, and remind me to tell you about the officer pool on the way back."
Noticing the elder Needa, Krzesimir gave the man a slight nod before returning to his impersonation of a watchful statue. He noticed Admiral Hu standing near ... oh, blast what was that man's name? Harman, no... close maybe but not it. Whatever his name was, he was a renowned Knight of Ren and Bedding. Viggo was happy to see that Hu was being given a warm welcome back to the living galaxy. The empty void was not an easy place to live, having gotten stranded for a few days was all the experience he wanted of empty space. He couldn't imagine being alone in the emptiness for years.

Post by Nicademus Delvardus IV on Aug 20, 2019 7:11:19 GMT -8
Eventually, Nicademus was seen approaching the elevated area before the gathered persons of this vital meeting. A shadow was cast over the top of the garden as one of the Resurgent-class Battlecruisers, that were presently stationed over Muunilinst, went overhead, blocking out Muunilinst's sun temporarily. The Emperor notices the podium that had been set up, nodding to a couple Stormtroopers who moved to have the structure removed. With that obstacle removed, Nicademus would take his spot before the gathering of personnel. Unlike his usual meetings, this time, the Emperor wore his officer's cap and greatcoat, the more formal wear of his uniform. His senior staff present saluted the Emperor as always with Nicademus raising his hand to set them at ease.
Gentlemen and ladies, it is good to see you all here. On behalf of the Empire, I wish to thank you all for your diligence, your services, and your dedication to the First Order. Together, we smashed the Galactic Alliance and ended our oldest enemy in this galaxy... this peace, that we experience now, is but temporary. The galaxy is full of unseen enemies beyond our border. And we will be prepared to fight our next battles.
Despite the end of the Galactic Alliance, all knew that the First Order was still advancing research in military technology, constructing new ships, training more corps of soldiers, and expanding its armies at good pace. The war machine of the Empire never seemed to halt, even with an enemy defeated. Nicademus glances at Merrik momentarily, knowing his spymaster was giving him rumors of advances by new and old factions alike. None seemed to be pointing their swords yet at the Empire, but it was only a matter of time after all. Only a matter of time before the next war began.
Today, some important announcements will be made. Decisions that have been contemplated for some time now within my mind.
Nicademus knew the first of the announcements would likely be the most impacting. Even the Imperial Knights did not know what was to be said next, for only himself, the person in question, and his brother, Baltasar, knew of the news to come. The Imperial takes a moment before speaking further.
The first and foremost of these announcements is to answer to rumors of my choice in a new Empress. My advisers have long encouraged me to find a new Empress for the sake of my young family, myself, and the Empire's desire for an Empress. Just as I chose Illaria before, the choice I have made will greatly impact this Empire of ours, in a way that will be good for the people, for my soldiers, and for all. Like with Illaria, I feel that the choice made is the right one... someone who can be a mother to my children, a good companion by my side, and someone who the Empire will love and admire.
Nicademus turns slightly as his gaze breaks from the gathering to look at Faina. He motions to Faina to come and stand beside him. Once she had, the Imperial turns back to those gathered, noticing already some rather stunned faces and expressions. However, just as expected, Nicademus noticed more accepting faces than when Illaria was named Empress.
In a few weeks, Faina Nikulin, Grandmaster of the Imperial Knights, will be made Empress of the First Order.

Garrick paused, not believing his ears for a moment. Faina Nikulin, Grandmaster of the Imperial Knights, will be made Empress of the First Order. This immediately drew his attention and made it suddenly worth it to actually attend. He was certainly very happy with the prospect. The one source of doubt he had surrounding the Emperor, that being his former Empress, Illaria, had been wiped away by this announcement. Faina would likely be a much better choice for Empress. This could lay down the groundwork for a truly great Imperial dynasty. And Garrick could not have been happier with the prospect. As such, he was one of the first people in the crowd to applaud for this announcement.
He would certainly have to do something special for the occasion. Maybe invite a few Imperial Officers to drink to the health of the Emperor's family. This could not have gone better in his mind, and his decision to put faith in Nicademus as a leader of the Empire seemed to be justified at this moment. Even if he believed the majority of the new First Order officers were insufferable, he could at least take some solace in the knowledge that their leader was looking out for the best interests of the Empire itself, and he would not fall prey to the whims of the upstarts known as the Knights of Ren.

Nicolina enthusiastically joins in the applause begun by Admiral Needa after the Emperor's announcement, revealing one of the announcements that everyone has gotten gussied up and gathered here. Having known the Grandmaster of the Imperial Knights since before she had been promoted to that rank, Nicolina guesses that she probably knows the soon to be Empress better than most here today, and her applause is therefore not merely polite, but genuine since she believes that their Emperor has made an excellent choice. Nicolina has fought and bled beside the future Empress on many occasions, and knows that she is tough, smart, brave, and intensely devoted to the First Order. Kind of a goody two shoes, but what would one expect of an Imperial Knight, and there are far worse qualities for an Empress to have.
A bit caught up in the moment, Nicolina grins as she elbows Admiral Needa gently in the ribs and tells him in a stage whisper, "I knew her back when she was just a Knight and the Emperor was still calling himself our Supreme Commander. They're a good fit for one another, and make an attractive pair, huh?"

Brock was only half listening as he continued to watch the crowd when what felt like a hot blade suddenly slammed into his gut. For a moment he thought it might actually be a physical blade but as he reviewed what had just been said he knew that wasn't the case at all. Faina... as Empress? No that couldn't be right, the two had been close but never THAT sort of close. He'd known them both for so long and he'd never seen any indication of that. Sure he'd spent a lot of the last few months not on the best of terms with the pair of them after the execution of the sith agent, but surely he couldn't have been so blind as to miss this. It had to be political... but if it was then why would Faina agree to this? What was really going on here and why hadn't he known about any of it before this moment? All of that passed through his mind in a moment and it took every bit of his training as both an imperial Knight and a Jedi to keep his reaction mostly internal. The only external sign he gave was a slight widening of the eyes and an equally slight stiffening that only those closest to him were likely to notice. He was however far too shocked to join in the applause and so seemed to be standing there with stoic intent while his mind raced trying to keep up with what was going on and hoping this was some sort of odd dream or strange prank being pulled.

*Commander Merrik Piett, Director of Imperial Intelligence stood isolated in the crowd as the announcement began. He stood flanked by two black armored Death Troopers a good 10 paces away from anyone else in the crowd. It didn't bother him to be so separated, in fact he appreciated it. He let his cool blue eyes wonder around the room, catching as many eyes as possible, almost all of which immediately turned away when contact was made. It seemed like almost all of the Imperial elite had made an appearance, many in person even. Good, from what he had learned about this speeches contents it was sure to set emotions high. It was his job to find which where high on good emotions and which were with anger. As the first announcement was made no expression crossed the generally blank faced officer's face although he was at least able to tack that rumor up as true. He had been informed that he pair had been seen looking affectionate in the Tower of the Imperial Knights, but there hadn't been enough other sightings to make any definite conclusions, but you couldn't get any more certain that straight from the Emperor's mouth. He knew most of the officers and dignitaries present would be pleased with the announcement but personally he thought the Emperor could have chosen better. Faina and the Imperial Knights were already bound to the Empire through oath and action, a marriage was only going to serve to strengthen an already strong bond, which while good wasn't the most beneficial use of the position of Empress. He had not been consulted however so he would adapt to the situation as it was rather than how he wished it. He'd have to have his agents keep a closer look at the Ren in the weeks to come however as their best connection had been the previous Empress. From what he'd gathered of their motivations their motivations for alliance with the Empire were still numerous enough to keep them around for now, but that could change like a snap of the fingers if the situation of the galaxy were to change tomorrow.*

Possessed of an analytical mind, Ishild cannot help but mentally examine the Emperor's choice of an Empress even as she applauds along with others once the announcement is made. What is available of Grandmaster Nikulin's service record, at a glance, suggests the woman is more a warrior than a political creature, making her a somewhat interesting choice as an Empress, a position that will undoubtedly require that she develop some degree of diplomatic and political acumen. On the other hand, the Emperor's assertion that the majority of the Empire will love and admire their impending Empress is an adroit one. The Imperial Knights can hardly fail to appreciate what it means that one of their own has been chosen to stand at the Emperor's side, while the Grandmaster's long years of service, predominantly consisting of participation on the front lines alongside her fellow Imperial Knights and Stormtroopers alike in ground campaigns, will undoubtedly endear her to the military branches of the First Order and public alike. The Knights of Ren will likely find little to celebrate in the Grandmaster's elevation, something Ishild has little doubt that will be addressed in some of the forthcoming announcements to be made by the Emperor, who is nothing if not politically savvy enough to realize the importance of appeasing the Knights of Ren in some way in order to ensure their loyalty, should such a thing exist among their ilk at all. On the whole, then, Ishild finds the Emperor's choice a sound one.
Clasping her hands behind her back as the applause begins to die down, Ishild awaits the rest of the Emperor's announcements, curious to learn what other changes lay in store.

In stark contrast to the First Order Admirals and officers, Imperial Knights and troopers in their pressed uniforms or shiny armor, Katsumi Ren in her grinning skull-like mask and the filthy, tattered robes that cover her thin and wiry frame, looks more a revenant haunting the proceedings than an attendee. An assassin and spy, she could, and normally would, use her telepathic and other talents to remain unseen, but as the Emperor decreed that all must attend this little affair she makes no effort to do so in order to be seen in attendance, though she does keep to the periphery of the main assembly, near to her fellow Knights of Ren.
The first of the Emperor's announcements is disappointing to Katsumi, for obvious reasons, and she mourns anew the loss of her sister Illaria, who would rightfully still be Empress had she not mysteriously disappeared, presumed now to be dead. Still, the Emperor's daughter is to be trained as a Knight of Ren, which is no small thing, and Katsumi wonders who among the Ren will given the task of training the girl. And would it not be a pity, Katsumi thinks, if something were to happen to the son, leaving the daughter to inherit the throne to the Empire? Such machinations are not, however, hers to make; though Katsumi wonders whether the thought has occurred to her brother Soku, Master now that their former Master has been removed (and how she would like to speak of that with Harnan, who did the removing himself!) from the proverbial board. Mockingly joining the applause for a brief moment, Katsumi then becomes still and waits to hear what other news the Emperor has come to share, hoping it will be less disappointing that the first bit of it has proven to be.

His face betrayed no emotion, and stayed rigidly pointed to his front, though his eyes wandered freely over what he could see of the crowd."Have a sip o' shig ma'am. You're wound tighter than a Verpine power coil, and you'll need a cool head for the evening with Sir Brashington flying at your flank. Oh, and remind me to tell you about the officer pool on the way back."Noticing the elder Needa, Krzesimir gave the man a slight nod before returning to his impersonation of a watchful statue. Surpressing a brief smile, Jenia solely nodded, taking the container swiftly, knowing that she might need it later. Well, Krzesimir's sharp tongue was as always honest - and she prefered honesty nontheless. No matter if it showed her that no matter her attempts, some people among her crew could draw connections faster than others, even if the meetings with Lucien and her were just a few to name, when it came to planet names. Well, at least they tell me, that they know... "Much appreciated, Commodore", she solely replied stiff, while her eyes focused upon the preparations being made for the ceremony, "I guess I'll be able to remember it as I was about to do that anyways once the announcements are over." She then focused more upon what was to come, as the Emperor himself went forward in order to tell the gathered crowd of what was to come.
------------------
As it was announced, that Grandmaster Faina Nikulin of the Imperial Knights will become the Empress alongside Nicademus' rulership, Jenia had to gasp briefly, being so far more surprised that another woman would take up the mantle, which was left by the former wife of the Supreme Commander. Kasalle looked over to Lucien Needa , partially because she wanted to see his reaction, partially also because this announcement made her more aware of herself. Was this how fate pulled its strings? The thought lasted for just a few seconds before she focused on the ceremony , being among the officers who applauded the decision of their Emperor regarding his soon-to-be wife. Jenia had sadly never the chance to meet Faina in personal, but she briefly saw her here and there, the last time more memorable during the preparations for the Battle of Dac, where she had also heard in the aftermath, that she also lead the finest soldiers in direct combat aboard the floating cities of the ocean planet to victory. Her reputation as an Imperial Knight was so far known and she was also a stunning woman - thus Kasalle wondered how one could miss the hidden signals, which might have fortold this surprising union. At least the Emperor seems to know unlike me how to surpress gossip and speculations before they even arise...
