Riverswift Hall Riverswift Hall, also known as Rhuyndél, was an Aldar town and the house of Lyrica Starlight. The peaceful, sheltered town of Riverswift Hall was located at the edge of a narrow gorge of the river Ydrènn (one of the main approaches to Riverswift Hall comes from the nearby Ford of Ydrènn), but well hidden in the moorlands and foothills of Ghuillond. Here, Lyrica held court most often, and spoke with her council and advisors on matters of concern to the Aldar. She would also receive visitors and her fellow Jedi Lords here. Many waterfalls surrounded the town, and provided an idyllic atmosphere for any who sought refuge within. A number of loresingers, artisans and healers resided regularly here, where Lyrica's power and influence was strongest, and most people felt a sense of peace, comfort, and safety when within the sacred halls. Places of note were the Hall of Heroes, the Artisan's Market, the Healing Chambers, the Great Pool, the Mistrun Rivermouth, and the Open Court of Equals. The Open Court of Equals was a circular construct with pillars and arches, seats hewn by artisans from the stone, set against the edge of the ford that fed the largest river from the mountains that led into the the river of Ydrénn which eventually reached Midhrúen.

Steam hissed from the nostril slits on either side of a long reptilian snout as a lone lizard-hound pulled a rickety wooden cart behind it. The creature was known in the Yuuzhan Vong tongue as a bissop, a low bodied war-beast used for hunting or in this case, to pull a wagon. Leathery reigns extended from the muzzle around the beast of burden's toothy jaw all the way to the hands of the cart's singular occupant. Reaching spindly corpse-pallor fingers to his face, the Yuuzhan Vong removed the long stem of a pipe-biot from thin lips that barely covered his mouthful of crooked teeth. The Yuuzhan Vong, most likely male though it was difficult to discern based on the oversized robe he was wearing, exhaled a plume of smoke after having enjoyed a puff of Ossus Kush. Say what you would about the sacred herb that originated from Zonama Sekot, where it was more commonly referred to as Sekotan Green, but there was something about the soil here there just made it better. He pulled back on the reigns, causing the bissop to trot for a few more steps before stopping in the middle of the road.Nemdalf... Because who else was it gunna be? ...removed a folded up map from his breast pocket and opened it up, resting the rectangular sheet of paper in his lap. His emerald green mqaaq'it ocular implants inspected the directions that had been provided to him by the Jedi High Lord, though he was having a heck of a time determining what they meant.Had he already gone passed that river, or was this another one? Surely he should have come upon Riverswift Hall already, unless Lucien was playing a prank on him. He knew how the Jedi enjoyed their practical jokes.Scowling, he put the map away and gave another jerk on the reigns, urging the bissop to move. With a lurch it began to pull the wagon again, causing the Intendant to almost drop his pipe in the process. He turned his head and lifted a hand, pushing the floppy top half of his conical hat to the other side as he glanced back at the cart's load. He was carrying several bushels of the sacred herb as he made his way into the heart of Aldar territory, along with a few barrels of sparkbee honey. The one thing he knew from his time spent on Ossus was that the Aldar liked to party. He was barely able to keep up himself after that last feast at the Harcey Palatinate. For now he just stuck to his pipe weed, though even that was making it difficult to focus.Hadn't he already seen that exact tree before? Passing a narrow gorge, he let out a breath as Rhuyndél came into view. Nem stood up on the seat of the cart and put a hand to his hairless brow, blocking the sun from his ocular implants as he remarked at the natural beauty of the well hidden vista. "That has to be the place." He said to himself, before ashing the pipe in his hands over the side of the cart and returning the crustacean to his billowing glistaweb robe that seemed to sparkle beneath the mid day sun.Thank goodness, he thought. He had been beginning to worry he would never find this place. After the events of Shili-Secondus which led to the death of the Praetorite council and many of his domain mates, the Executor had launched a daring mission of revenge that still left a sour taste in his mouth. He needed to get away for a while. When Nem had first returned to Ossus he had visited Mira's shaping spire only to find that the Master Shaper had already left on an important investigative mission for the Jedi Lords, so Nem had headed to Lucien's castle next. Unfortunately after his last stay, Lucien had been a little reluctant to let the Intendant squat there for a while. Something to do with the creatures he had left in the communal refresher. At least, he thought it was communal. Lucien seemed to be under the impression that had been a part of his personal quarters. Anyways, that drama aside, the High Lord had seemed all too happy to provide Nem with directions to Riverswift Hall, which he assured the Intendant was a sight to behold.Smiling, he put down his hand. Lucien hadn't lied, that place looked nice. Reseating himself, the Intendant snapped the reigns to encourage a bit more speed from the bissop.

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | Lyrica's Royal Chamber | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt Stormburner “I'll be all right.” assured Palaa.
The young loresinger, bleeding out of every orifice, clasped her arms over her chest in a dead-man's rest and fell backwards into the blinding light beyond the cliff's edge of the gorge, just past the Valley of the Jedi. The ensuing explosion of light engulfed the entire place, blinding Lyrica, and then she started awake with a gasp.
She was alive. So was Palaa Riverlake, though that was debatable, given her current state. The loresinger had given everything, including her life and wellbeing, that the entire Aldar race now breathed new life. They had been restored to their ancestral status, when they could live for centuries, and suffered no more of the Force-imbued maladies that the Sith Curse once inflicted upon them.
She jumped again, when she realized her emotional distress from the nightmare had jolted and opened up her Bond with the Knight, Tygalt Stormburner. Her Bloodsworn. He would undoubtedly be awake now because of her.
<< Forgive me, Tygalt, >> Sent Lyrica, << The dreaming still troubles me. That, and all that you and the others went through for our sakes. >>
She sensed through their Bond that much of the harm inflicted upon him still affected him some. He had faced not only Sith, but their machinations, creatures, and phantoms, during Palaa's quest to obtain the Cure. Those who accompanied him, the Serennians, and the other Aldar, including a time-displaced Aldar princess, all bore marks of change in more ways than just physical, or even the mind. There was much change in their spirit too.
She would be forever grateful to all of them, for a debt that the Aldar could never repay. She let Tygalt feel her gratefulness, and her fondness for him, one that formed like a lifelong friendship, only much faster, measured in mere months rather than years, thanks to the Bond. Few would know Lyrica better than Tygalt himself. Such was the way of the Bloodsworn.
[ Taneira Brightburn | The Open Path | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Nem Yin As the Yuuzhan Vong approached on his cart and beast, a small group of giggling children ran past, most of them armed with sticks, bows and arrows that all looked somehow crude yet elegant in design. Behind them, moving a brisk yet sedate pace, was an older child, though not by very much. She looked perhaps to be in her early teens, but her height suggested someone significantly younger, and she had pointed elfin ears unusual even among Aldar. Delicate pastel-winged insects flitted around and ahead of her as she drew near.
Upon sighting the Yuuzhan Vong, the girl-child smiled and bowed her head lightly. Unlike the younger and tinier children further ahead of herself, she only wielded a small simple staff and wore no shoes at all, and her garb was simple as well as fairly minimal compared to the chilly weather.
“Hullo and fair day to you, sir,” greeted the girl, “what brings you here to Riverswift?”
Abruptly, she tilted her head to glance upwards at a nearby tree.
“Mind you do not cast yourself upon harm, Andiri!”
Upon the thickest branch, crouched a silver-haired elfin child, even younger looking than the one on the ground. She had long hair, with one lock tied in a loose braided ponytail. If at all possible, she was even more poorly attired for the weather than the first, and wore a frill of long pointed leaves round her waist, over a short white skirt and had no leg protections of any sort.
The little girl-child giggled but said nothing else and simply continued to watch the tall stranger, who had now, due to the pause of the two lasses, drawn the children back who had been running ahead, apparently on a hunt. Unlike the first two, these children lacked the pointed ears, and had rounded ears like a human, save for the pale glow around their bodies and their similar lack of shoes.
“Good morning, visitor!” chorused the children.

When their Quest to cure the Aldar had begun, Tygalt had no way of knowing the true extent of the events that were to follow. He had certainly assumed it would be no easy task, for the affliction that cursed the Aldar was powerful. But never would he have ever been able to imagine the tests, trials, and fights he went through and came out the other side of. Not that he would have cowered away from any of it had he known what laid ahead. He had sworn an Oath to serve Lyrica and help save her people, and if he had needed to lay his life down for that oath, he would have happily done so.
But such a sacrifice had not been necessary and he had lived to see the fruits of their efforts. Though, for the moment he had been catching some rest at long last as he sat in a chair at Lyrica's bed side, not having left it since their return. However, his rest was suddenly interrupted by Lyrica's startled waking from a nightmare, his hand instinctively reaching out and grabbing her own No apologies needed... It is not something any of us can so easily forget or move on from. But I'm here for you, always... He gave her hand a squeeze, hoping to reassure her and help calm her.

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | Lyrica's Royal Chamber | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt Stormburner Lyrica smiled at Tygalt and gently grasped his hand in return, and slowly replaced most of the walls in the Bond that she'd abruptly torn then while waking up from her disturbing dreams. No need for either of them to have such complete open access to each other's very minds and feelings all the time, after all, it made it rather hard to get anything done when trying to sort out thoughts and feelings from one another.
“I suppose I should get started on the day,” said Lyrica, “I'd like to pay her a visit first thing.”
By her, Lyrica meant Palaa Riverlake. It made sense, given that she'd just seen her in a dream. Lyrica still hoped the Aldar healers would have made some progress by now in reviving the girl. But she'd...she had given so much of herself, and used so much of the Force whilst still under the Sith Curse, she looked like a bled out, dessicated corpse somehow still walking by the time they'd reached their goal.
Heedless of his presence, Lyrica slipped out of bed and stripped off her thin nightgown as she strode into the washroom. Her businesslike motions and swiftness indicated no seductive intent nor awareness for how Tygalt might regard her actions in revealing her bare body from behind.

One might be inclined to believe that after spending so long in the Princesses Company and that of her people, that Tygalt would be much more used to and comfortable with some of their more... carefree habits. But nothing could have been further from the truth. Before he could even protest her casual attitude about preparing to resume her daily duties after her sleep, she was already up and stripping naked. He could only watch as she headed into the washroom, a blush creeping up within his cheeks as he tried hard to maintain the barrier between their minds It should come as no surprise that I must protest... we've barely returned and you need time to recover... He rose from his own seat and did his best to walk naturally toward the door into the other room Like you, she also needs time to heal and recover. Don't push yourself...

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | Lyrica's Royal Chamber | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt Stormburner For a moment, Lyrica felt something coming from the Bond between her and Tygalt. Her natural curiosity almost had her trying to probe it and find out more, but if Tygalt wished to share, he would have lowered his own hold, so she respected his wishes.
She smiled at his next remark as she used the fountain water to wash herself. The Force felt so pure, and so untainted. No, the Aldar as a whole, felt untainted now. The Curse. They were free of it, and having lived with it the last nineteen years, she knew what it was like to be free of suffering when using the Force. Her strength had increased tenfold. Still, Tygalt had a point, but she wasn't going to do anything strenuous.
“Peace, Tygalt,” said Lyrica clearly through the open door. She couldn't see the knight, but they would be able to hear each other even over the splashing water, “never have I felt as hale as I do now, but we are not going to do anything untoward or reckless. I merely wish to visit the Loresinger. The Healers may have had results since we last saw her.”
She finished cleansing and preparing herself and stepped out, letting herself dry out with a gust of the Force, and using telekinesis to bring her underclothes and robes to clasp themselves around her. When she glanced at the knight, she noted how his cheeks seemed flushed, and she asked, “Are you all right, however? You seem flushed.”
She glided gracefully over towards the man, to feel his forehead.

He let out a half-hearted sigh, knowing Lyrica would do what Lyrica wanted, regardless of his protests and insistence otherwise in this situation. They were safe here, but he still felt very protective of her. The last thing they needed was for her to overexert herself by accident. Fine... But we're not just going to rush you back to work. Your people can survive a few more days until you have recovered fully yourself... His blush seemed to only grow brighter as she appeared and clad herself in her clothes before gliding toward him. He reached out his left hand to her waist and his right hand to grip her wrist as he drew her close I assure you, I'm fine. It's just... you're stunning Princess. I apologise for my impropriety...

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | Lyrica's Royal Chamber | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt Stormburner Lyrica leaned her head back and frowned slightly, then broke into a smile, “You're very flattering, my good knight, and I thank you.”
Her lips curled up on one side in a lopsided smile, “As for work, I assure you, we are merely going to see Palaa, and finding out what is happening. I hardly call that work. Besides, I am no longer as frail as I was before. With the Curse lifted, my strength of body and the Force has grown.”
She slid out of his grasp with fluid grace and gently clasped his palm with hers, giving only the slightest of tugs as she turned to leave her room, a smile on her lips and mirth in her eyes.

He risked a smile in response to her first comment, before shifting to a more set line. I know, but I also know you well enough that I want to make sure you remember you can still take some time off... His grip was loose and so she would find no resistance or issue with escaping from him. He followed along then as she tugged at his hand that she had grasped, following alongside the woman to whom he was a Bloodsworn Knight to. Despite his caution, it was nice to see her up and about again and it would help take his mind off of his own worries and concerns

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | Lyrica's Royal Chamber | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt StormburnerLyrica smiled up at him, “I willll, I promise!”
She dragged out the word 'will', and batted her eyes at him that promised more mischief than actually keeping her word. She felt significantly more euphoric, energetic, and even playful ever since she'd been cured. She had over nineteen years of catching up to do in terms of having a childhood, a life, and a future that wasn't measured in months anymore, but centuries. Tygalt could feel her exuberance through the Bond.
“It's been a week,” she said, “and I am hopeful that our Loresingers and Healers might have happened upon lost secret arts, or that the princess, Sorsha Sunrunner, might have something that was common knowledge in her time, that our people today have forgotten.”

It was impossible to resist that smile or the way she batted her eyes at him. It was a new reality that he was going to have to get used to with her now that the Curse had been lifted and her life was no longer constantly ailed by impending death There are a great many people tending to Palaa's care. They'll figure something out. She's not one to give up so easily on life. Come, if you're going to be up and about, let us not dawdle...

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | Corridor to the Royal Bedchamber | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt Stormburner Lyrica smiled at Tygalt's remark. A playful aspect of her she'd never ever had the time or energy for was now coming out more and more frequently, along with budding energy. She let the knight walk ahead of her whilst she kept a sedate pace, then, drawing on the Force, she daintily pulled up her skirts in front as she abruptly sped up, easily overtaking the knight's own pace and was soon leading the way at an almost alarming speed. She did this while still somehow looking like she was merely strolling, even if her legs could barely be seen as little more than a blur.
“I am not the one dawdling,” said Lyrica, the laughter barely restrained in her words, “tarry not, my good knight, or it will be sundown when we reach.”
[ The Halls of Healing | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ]
She sobered a little when they reached the Halls of Healing, and there, surrounded by five Healers and two Loresingers, lay Palaa Riverlake. She was laid out on a large single bed with pearly white sheets and a thin blanket covering her fragile form. Her hair was straggly, think, lackluster and strewn wildly over the pillow in all directions, though the ministrations of the Healers and Loresingers appeared to have restored her body from its nearly desiccated condition that she'd been in by the time the heroes had reached the end of their quest, her skin still radiated a sickly pallor, and her breathing appeared visibly ragged.
Like all the Aldar, the Cure was the only reason she was still among the living, but her body had been to thoroughly spent by the ravages of the Curse, and it was a question now of whether it would be a kinder act to allow her to pass on, or to try fighting to bring her back to full health. The Healers and Loresingers quietly moved gracefully aside as Lyrica approached. One of them brought the princess a chair, and she sat down by Palaa's side without even looking to see if the chair was being slid into place for her.
“My brave young Loresinger,” said Lyrica, “would that we could hear you sing once more. We only hope there is succour in sight for you.”

He came to a slow stop, as Lyrica suddenly rocketed by down the corridor, the Force flowing around and into her. He let out a sigh and scowled That's cheating... After taking a moment to psych himself up, Tygalt raced after his Charge so as to not lose sight of her. It would not be an overly good look were he to be found lagging too far behind. Thankfully he managed to catch pace with her just as they arrived to the Halls, where he could once more walk by her side as they approached the bed upon which Palaa was laid out. As Lyrica took a seat, Tygalt remained standing at her side, examining the Loresinger as she laid restfully. Of all amongst their quest, Palaa had paid the greatest price. But he also knew that the reward had been more than worth it. A whole people now able to live free of the Curse that once plagued them.
He lifted his left hand and placed it upon the Princesses shoulder

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | The Halls of Healing | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt StormburnerLyrica smiled up at Tygalt when she felt his palm on her shoulder. There was a small transference of emotion flowing between them, the physical contact enhancing the Bond between them. There was also a slight pressure building within her temples, and she turned her head around to look at Palaa, whilst also considering that perhaps she still needed more time to grow accustomed to being fully healed. To say nothing of the fact Lyrica's lifespan now had centuries where she once had little more than a year to live.
A slight itch in her shoulder blades made her hitch her shoulders abruptly, but she quickly reached a hand out to rest over Tygalt's, lest he thought she was irritated or discomfited by his touch.
“Healer Tal,” said Lyrica, “would you grant me time and tell...my pardon...what word of any progress on the Loresinger?”
The itching was growing into a much greater discomfort that grew all along her back. She couldn't help but notice a few male and female Aldar around her seemingly squirming too. To her surprise, she felt something through the Bond with Tygalt as well! This wasn't something happening to just the Aldar.
“What in the Light...” she said as she reached with her free hand to feel her back.

Before he could remove his hand from Lyrica's shoulder, he found her own hand holding his in place. Suggesting, indeed, that the shrugging action had been caused by something else. She had been resting for some time since they had returned from their last mission, which could have caused itches or muscle strains. Whatever the case, it was clear she was not trying to recoil from his touch. Something that made him happy, the full extent of which he was now pretty well practiced at keeping from seeping through their bond. Something learned the hard way through some... unfortunate encounters. Or perhaps fortunate depending upon how you viewed the outcomes of such moments.
His thoughts were soon interrupted by his own irritation originating from between his shoulder blades. But whereas Lyrica felt an itch, Tygalt felt a steadily increasing heat. He tried mentally swatting the irritation away, having experienced pain there before during their last adventure. He had thought it only phantom pain coming back to haunt him. However, the feeling only seemed to persist and steadily increase in severity. But despite the mild enough discomfort, his gaze turned to those around him as he sensed a disturbance within the Force as members of the Aldar seemed to be experiencing similar such feelings.
He pulled his hand from Lyrica's shoulder then as he hugged himself, clutching at his sides as he tried to feel his back. He groaned as the heat rose to an almost unbearable level, before he felt the air behind him briefly spark alight and the pain was suddenly gone just as quickly as it had begun. He remained bent over on the ground for a moment, trying to catch his breath before slowly lifting his gaze What... was that...

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | The Halls of Healing | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt StormburnerThe sensation was almost growing into pain, and the princess soon collapsed on all fours, along with a select few other Aldar, the ones she'd seen getting discombobulated in the same way, all of them reaching behind them to feel their shoulder blades. She knew, from the Bond, that Tygalt was somewhat affected too, though not to the extent of Lyrica. The young royal was panting heavily, biting back pained groans. On her back, something strained under her skin, squirming and poking outwards like sharp objects, visible even under her silken clothing. A moment later, skin and cloth were pierced through as something poked out, slick and red with blood and sinew.
“T-Ty...galt...” gasped Lyrica, “I...I gnnnnYAAAARH!”
As she cried out, the pain reached its zenith, and with a wet, squelching noise, a pair of large pastel wings sprouted out her back, and slowly began to unfurl, the ichor dripping off of it. All around, a number of Aldar underwent the same growth, but not all. Those that weren't affected rushed to the aid of those with wings. From the echoing cries all around, it was obvious this was not contained to just those within Riverswift Hall.
Suddenly weakened, Lyrica looked behind her at her new wings, eyes comically wide in bewilderment. She could feel the wings! Muscles she did not have before suddenly came to her awareness, and she fluttered the wings, which had the unfortunate effect of scattering blood and ichor about.

He watched from the ground as the pain intensified for Lyrica, significantly more so than his own. Unlike his own pain, hers seemed bone deep, with the reason soon revealing itself as the pair of wings burst forth from her back. Instinctively he tried to shield himself, causing an ethereal wing to curl around and burn up the scattered ichor as it landed upon the super heated air. Tygalt had to take a moment to come to his senses as he stared first at the pair of pastel wings now sprouting from Lyrica's back and the almost see through wing which he could feel. He twitched a little, causing the wing to retract back behind his back. What... He slowly pushed himself to his feet, his gaze scanning the room, taking in the others that had also sprouted wings of their own. Much like Lyrica's own wings, they seemed a lot more physical and solid and came in a variety of colours and tones. He turned then to a nearby mirror and could see the air behind him shimmering as he focused his thoughts on the new sensations he could feel travelling through his back. He turned his face toward Lyrica and moved to her side, grabbing hold of her wrist. We should get you into a seat, or onto a bed...

[ Princess Lyrica Starlight | The Halls of Healing | Riverswift Hall | Ossus ] Attn: Tygalt StormburnerLyrica could feel herself getting better after the initial shock and pain. The relief was palpable, and now that her mind felt clear again, she looked around at her fellow Aldar, after ascertaining and acknowledging Tygalt, and she couldn't help but notice he had something akin to wings himself now, though they appeared more like a mist of light and colours.
She also noted how not all Aldar wings were the same. Not merely in shape, but even in design. Some had pastel butterfly-like wings like she did, while others had diaphanous wings, or even bird-like, feathered wings. This led her to two questions: Why did they suddenly sprout wings? Why were almost none of their wings alike?
Mentally shaking the concerns off for the immediate moment, most of the healers were first on their feet despite any pain or discomfort, and they were the swiftest in recovering from the shock of the new additions. They were beginning to attend to the others, while those that did not gain wings were assisting.
“Your highness!” came an urgent cry, and soon an Aldar knight in armour appeared, a lightsabre hilt in hand. Upon seeing her and Tygalt holding her steady, the young man heaved a sigh of relief, “Thank the Force for you, Sir Tygalt. We just received word...the wings, it's not just here...your highness, the Archonite sings, and it is happening to Aldar everywhere.”
Lyrica picked a tall stool and seated herself next to Palaa's bed, her wings fluttered weakly, and some of the colours of her wings were beginning to show. There a lot of colours. The princess frowned, “I...cannot fathom what is happening, or why.”
Still clutching Tygalt's hand, Lyrica glanced at the knight, who was hovering nearby, though he'd since placed his lightsabre hilt back on his belt, as there appeared no immediate danger or threat.
“In ages past,” she began, “There were legends of our predecessor kin, the Sylvan...you met one, I believe, Tygalt, and their rare kin, the winged Sylvans...but we never heard tell of any Aldar inheriting the wings, and certainly not in the numbers I am perceiving.”
She turned to the young Aldar knight and asked, “By your counting, how many of the Aldar have gained wings?”
The knight considered a moment, before he responded, “Perhaps one third of the entire population, by my sight.”

Tygalt had not taken to much time examining those around them, his focus instead upon ensuring the safety of the woman he was Bloodsworn to. It wasn't until the Knight came charging in that he looked to the young boy and offered a half grin. No thanks is needed for being where I should be... He was grateful when at last Lyrica took a seat, preferring her in a position that was far easier to keep her from collapsing and injuring herself. His gaze then took in the rest of the immediate area, noting the variety in wing colours and makeup. With his free hand, he placed it gently upon Lyrica's back and slowly rubbed, hoping to help ease any pain she might still feel and to try reassure her. He also opened up himself a little more along their link, letting her know everything would be fine even as she tried to puzzle it out and he was reminded of his encounter with one of the Sylvan. He did his best to fight back the blush and memories associated with those events, for they were ones he definitely did not wish to share with Lyrica right now Yes, I did have a run in with a Sylvan, though I don't recall any wings... I wonder if this is merely a delayed effect of the curse being lifted at last? A great many ordeals have faced your people in the past, perhaps in some part because the curse has hindered your natural form so much. But now... This.
