*Avarath looked into the vine covered thicket. You could occasionally make out the glints and glitz of the old place if you squinted in the proper manner. She pulled out an old half-drunk bottle of Han Solo Rum. She poured a splash on an obsidian stone. The liquid splashed and the spicy scent wafted across the jungle.*
"Paz, Lov."
*She took a swig and sat with her thoughts for a long while.*

Clan Australis's landing facilities out in the wilds of Thyferra were kept busy by the influx of orbital freighters bringing loads of bacta up to the bulk transports waiting in orbit. The Clan had worked out deals with some individual smaller bacta producing Vratix outside the main cities. Though even combined their production couldn't match that of the megacorporations, the amount they could produce was more than what Clan Australis could easily export and sell.
The deal was generous to the Vratix, with the Clan taking a 50/50 split of the profits from the exorbitant prices Bacta could fetch in the Outer Rim, handling transport and security, while covering the cost of the 30% export tax they had agreed to pay to the Corellian Coalition. The profits, however, provided a massive income stream to both the Clan and the local Vratix, making for a very happy and convenient arrangement where both sides profited enormously from the trade. Because the Corellians taxed only the export, and not the sales in the Outer Rim, the Vratix who dealt with Clan Australis got rich while the Clan did.
Clan Australis was allowed by the Vratix to maintain small landing bases on the world. These consisted of landing pads for multiple freighters, and a small security force of Clan Australis commandos, to protect the warehouses and the landing areas. The bases were fitted out and equipped by parts and technical crews that came in on some of the incoming freighters.

Patrols by Coalition and local Thyferran Forces were maintained across the planet, ensuring the safety and security of the people and the various companies that produced and exported Bacta across the Galaxy. Ever since Senator Argon's abduction a couple months prior, patrol routes had been beefed up to better protect against unwanted elements and surprise attacks in the future

Each of the Vegemite bases on Thyferra were set up as minor starport facilities, set up for the efficient loading and unloading of cargo. They had been built and expanded on from Clan Australis's older facilities in the jungles of Thyferra's wilds.
Equipment and personnel and commercial goods came in on the trip down, Bacta packaged for transport on the way out.
Perimiter security for the bases was handled by the Vegemites, who had orders to maintain cordial relations with Coalition patrols that passed by. The local Vratix were dealt with fairly and even generously by the Vegemite Enclave, and so had little reason to complain of the outsiders' relatively unobtrusive presence. The Vegemites brought in trade goods the Vratix wanted, and dealt with them fairly, trading for Bacta at market value.
Though the Coalition would not be allowed to enter the bases without permission, there was no visible or scannable evidence of wrongdoing on show. The contraband weapons and other illegal items were smuggled in covertly and stored in secure locations within the cavernous warehouse complexes on site. Security was tight, and all appearances were of what was mostly a legitimate trading outpost. Security was armed, and perimiter defences and minor fortifications had been built, mostly surveillance gear, with limited arms for the small garrison forces.

Given a previous attack upon Senator Argon, committed by an unknown darksider cult from the eastern Outer Rim, that was according to the reports crushed by the Coalition's Jedi allies, it was only natural that the Neimoidian enclave would also sent a cohort from their enclave as a symbol of unity. While the skirmishes of the Partisans at Cato Neimoidia were still ongoing, the Coalition military forces, who officially serve the Neimoidian gouvernment-in-exile would also oversee the droid forces within their assigned sectors and villages. Alongside some of the Garhai Guards, IG 100-MagnaGuards and Droidekas of both older generations and the Mark II-type were kept ready alongside a legion of regular B1- and B2-droid forces, should the First Order or other hostile forces attempt to take the planet.
Cooperating with the local police, the military forces would mainly remain calm and solely would react in case of arresting a major criminal organization, that would violate common civil weapon laws, waiting on further orders regarding the Neimoidian's revolutionary attempts within the Quellor run, once Cato Neimoidia would be able to declare itself towards the Corellian Coalition, freeing itself from the shackles of the imperial barons and the corrupt puppet gouvernment, which was operating on benefits towards the First Order.

The Thyferran Garrison had been put on alert a couple days prior regarding the potential for upcoming operations. When the day had come, several detachments had been dispatched from Xozhixi to the construction sites which had been identified as having been built up by Clan Australis/the Vegemite Enclave. Currently they were in violation of the Foreign Investments and Construction Regulation Bill, while the armed forces belonging to Clan Australis were violating Thyferran and Coalition Sovereign territory. To that end, that had formed perimeters around the bases parading as warehouses, with a half dozen ground vehicles and artillery pieces having been set up in the surrounding forest as a precautionary measure.
Soon enough, however, orders came down from orbit that inspections of the facilities would be conducted. Additional teams were dispatched from Xozhixi to the sites with scanning equipment and armed escorts. They arrived quickly to the gates to each site and waited to be admitted entry

Bacta continued to be produced in large quantities to be sold and shipped off to those who needed it. The profits continued to flow to the Thyferran government and people instead of off world exploiters.

Xucphra City wasn't the metropolis that was Coronet City or anything on the scale of Galactic City, but it was a sizeable population center on Thyferra. The cantinas in the low-rent end of town were as rough and dirty as those you could find on any backwater world. It was evening, and the streets were fairly clear, especially in such a high crime area of the city. Inside the cantina marked simply "Phobo's", Konig Australis finished his drink and pushed away from the bar. It was long before closing time, but he'd stopped for a couple of post-work drinks. Two drinks were just enough for a small buzz, not enough to impair the solidly built Mando as he walked out of the bar into the street. He was about to put his helmet back on when a voice spoke from nearby.
Mando scum.
The Mandalorian went for his weapons, but a flash and an explosion turned the world to bright white light, which faded quickly and completely to blackness and then nothingness as unconsciousness took him. Then, unknown to the out cold Konig, strong arms roughly took him, and dragged him off into the night. The mercenaries weren't local, they'd been hired and brought in especially to track the young Australis, and they'd earned their credits by bringing him in. They brought their quarry to a warehouse in the same district as the cantina, secured him to a chair, and left him there, as per their contract. Konig awoke with a massive headache to find himself strapped down and relieved of his weapons. Worse, his first sight showed his armour, neatly stacked on a table.
Before he could begin to escape, the room was flooded with light, and a group of figures came in. With the bright lights, Konig couldn't make out faces. While he blinked his eyes to clear them, he began to shake clear the wristblades the mercenaries hadn't managed to find. They were nanoweapons, made from non conductive material, which produced short, sharp, extremely thin blades from his wrists. He wasn't concerned with whatever he'd been bound with; these blades could cut through the shabla chair. He didnt recognize any of the voices.
Young Australis. A harsh Imperial sounding voice said. The Coordinated Underground of Nihilistic Tribunal Saints has been looking for you.
Oh no. Not the C.U.N.T.S. The sworn enemy of the Vegemite Enclave. Konig wasn't going to live down being captured by these muppets. Time seemed to slow as the heavy doors to the warehouse slammed shut behind his captors, securing them all inside the room. He moved his head and upper body, stretching, looking around; but mostly doing something to distract the enemy from what his hands were up to. Quickly, he made cuts that freed his arms, but the molecular thin cuts were nigh invisible. There was no way for him to free his legs covertly, so he leant forward, and at the last moment, shot his hands forward and cut the bindings on his legs. Konig rolled forward, holding onto the chair, which he then flung directly forward into the group.
You've found me. Konig stood up and began to fight. The enemy's troopers quickly discovered the Lion still had claws, as they grabbed for him, he sliced hands from wrists with ease, jerking aside to throw wounded enemies into those who were as yet unhurt. Outnumbered twenty to one, in this situation, he had the advantage of surprise and not much else.

Konig becomes The Lion"You got this lion, he’s the king of the jungle. Huge mane out to here. He’s laying down under a tree, he’s so big, he’s so hot! He doesn’t wanna move." The warehouse on Xucphra City's outskirts went to hell in a Coruscant minute. Blasterfire erupted from the Coordinated Underground's goons as Konig burst free from what they thought was a fully restrained position. The thrown chair took two of them to the ground in a heap, but Konig didn't see it. He slashed through the gorget of a nearby trooper, then ducked under the slice of a vibro-axe, punching into the belt and through the plates of the other warrior. Both of them took blasterfire from their fellow troopers as they fell, neatly shielding the Lion as he rolled over the table containing his armour and weapons, pulling it over toward him. Weapons and armour clattered to the ground around him as more blasterfire scythed through the space above him. As if by serendipity, his power claws fell into his lap. Konig smiled, and shook on his gauntlets."Now, the little lion cubs they start messin’ with him, bitin’ his tail, bitin’ his ears, he doesn’t do anything. The lioness, she starts messing with him, coming over making trouble, still nothing. Now the other animals, they notice this, and they start to move in. The jackals, hyenas, they’re barking at him, laughing at him. They nip his toes and eat the food that’s in his domain. They do this and they get closer and closer and bolder and bolder, till one day..." The Mandalorian exploded out from around the side of the table. He was upon the first trooper within a step, claws scything through blaster rifle and armor like burnt paper. He drew aimed fire from the rest of the troopers, but they were far too slow. He was among them, long blades ripping into bodies and heads, spraying blood. Shouts and screams filled the air as he fought for his life. He noted at a glance the heavy troopers with what looked like grenade launchers, but they were loath to fire onto friendly forces. That couldn't last, especially as there were only four enemy left in Konig's reach. That number dropped to three as he ducked to avoid a stream of fire which wounded another Coordinated Underground trooper, the fire going wild as the claws punched through into the trooper's guts and slashed. Shoot him! The order came from an older man wearing an armoured breastplate. The heavy troopers levelled their grenade launchers. Konig dove in the one direction that could save him, toward the leader, while the surviving enemies were engulfed in a fiery explosion. He rolled through his dive, slicing out to his right to take one of the heavy troopers in the legs. One more roll, and he'd scooped up the fallen trooper's grenade launcher, which he shucked once, and fired into the second heavy trooper, immolating him before he could react. Three more grenades rid the room of enemies, except for the leader. He was thoughtful enough not to draw on a Mandalorian pointing a grenade launcher at him. Konig stood up, and walked across, dropping the launcher once he was within reach. The claws would do. "…that lion gets up and tears the shit outta everybody, runs like the wind, eats everything in his path, ’cause every once in a while, the lion has to show the jackals who he is." Take a message to your boss for me. He waited just long enough for the realization to dawn in the eyes of the enemy leader before he shanked the man through chest and gut at once, then swung the claws outward, bisecting him in a spray of blood and meat and foul smelling entrails. This message would send itself, thought Konig, as he collected his possessions, and left the warehouse.

Operation Double Dragon launched at 0400 local time, when Kaine's strike group entered Thyferran space. Local authorities and the Thyferran Defence Corps had been notified only an hour before the strike, giving the enemy little to no warning of what was coming, and when. The criminals expected law enforcement action, what they got was a war.Two Keldabe-class Battleships led the line for the Mandalorians, though they were only involved in the operation as transport for the strike force, and in case the criminals had anything in space big enough to cause trouble. The mando force moved into orbit quickly, and deployed fighters and drop pods. The first group was cover for the ground force, while the other four formations were assigned to strike missions.Even as the drop pods began hitting ground all around the Hutt Cartel's planetary HQ, four massive detonations went up across Thyferra as the Mandalorian fighters hit spice warehouses owned by the Hutts. Smoke columns went up, streaking the clean blue Thyferran sky black. Tipped by the Mandos, local firefighting units were able to prevent the flames from spreading to any civilian areas. At the headquarters, Kaine and over a thousand Mando'ade hit like a thunderstorm. The Hutt's goons were well armed, and well situated, and they fought hard. Kaine took his squad in, firing and moving. Starfighters made strafing runs on mounted emplacements, and the explosion of the odd proton torpedo took down a watchtower or a turret. The Mandalorians played for keeps, and took no prisoners on the outside.Inside was a typical crimelord's palace. Fighting was intense, through tight corridors and down stairwells. Goons and battle droids were cut down by coordinated aimed fire, while strongpoints were taken down with rockets and grenades. Finally, the Australis Alor and his squad kicked in a large pair of double doors, which led to the Hutt's inner sanctum. The slug-like crime lord lazed on a raised divan, while goons lined the walls. You've made your point, Mandalorian. Kaine's rifle stayed on the Hutt. Most blasters and slugthrowers would scar the Hutt's hide or be absorbed by the fat. Kaine knew Erymanthian would leave bits of Hutt nailed to the wall of the next building over. He figured the Hutt knew it too. Hutts were hard to read, but Kaine saw what he thought was a little fear in this one.Not yet, I haven't. The Inner Rim is IRI territory. Your scum killed two of mine. I'm taking two of yours in recompense.Oh ho ho ho ho ho! You've taken a lot more than two of mine today.Kaine shook his helmeted head. He was going to enjoy dropping this bomb. Not people. Planets. Bors activated a holoprojector and came up beside his Alor. The holoimage showed Mandalorians on Zeltros making a similar raid, with similar casualties, and costs to the Hutt's operations. Konig was visible in the holoimage, his presence payback for the earlier Coordinated Underground attempt on his life on Thyferra, something the Hutts had to have known about. I kill you, the Hutts get upset. I cost you credits, they see that as your problem. You step out of line again, and you're going to be one of those poor Hutts no one ever hears about, ever again. This time the damned crimelord didn't laugh. Kaine figured the point was well made. Kill cops, and worse comes your way. The IRI was setting down the new rules, and making sure the scum of the galaxy knew the score. Slowly but surely, the IRI's presence was being felt.

Outside of the major cities, much of Thyferra's surface was wild and untamed, with thick jungles covering much of the humid planet. The heavy vegetation made for difficult terrain, and it was home to the Vratix, the natives of Thyferra who had first discovered the secrets of Bacta production. Many of the Vratix's best warriors had been trained on Myrkr, a similar environment, and had come back home to pass on what they had learned.
The local Thyferran Home Defence Corps was a civilian militia, well equipped, with good personnel, and good training, but they were part-time soldiers. Two full divisions of infantry were exercising in the training grounds outside Xozhixi City. Each division of the THDC had ten thousand soldiers. Each faced a single battalion of a hundred commandos. In the eastern zone, the 1st THDC faced a unit of Vratix Commandos. To the west, the 2nd THDC faced a unit of the Australis Greenbacks, jungle warfare specialists.
This sort of cross training was common among the Mandalorians. The Commandos were expected to fight outnumbered and outgunned, while the Trooper units were expected to take and hold an area of ground against a small force of enemy elites. The exercise was scheduled to run for eighteen hours, from dawn until midnight. The commandos were sent in an hour before dawn, and then the infantry would pursue, hunt, and destroy, if they could.
There were thankfully no deaths this time around, though these sort of exercises did often lead to unfortunate mishaps, given the numbers involved and the free-form shape of the war game. Soldiers were encouraged to improvise, which faced their opponents with unorthodox and irregular tactics. Sometimes, accidents happened, though no one intended to kill. And there were always a plethora of injuries. War was hell, and training was hell to prepare the warriors for the real thing.
The THDC forces acquitted themselves well, showing patience and caution, but never allowing themselves to be held up, always pushing forward, always flanking and surrounding any enemies they found. The commandos gave nothing easily, often taking out dozens of troopers before they were brought down. The Vratix used their local knowledge to perfection, setting up ambushes on top of ambushes, catching the THDC forces in a crossfire whenever they could.
Even against the vaunted greenbacks, who were tough to detect, let alone kill, the militia forces tried hard, and did not give up. Even after they failed to find or kill a single commando in the first four hours, and took a mauling, they continued to push forward to their objectives. The determination served them well as they were able to trap several groups of greenbacks, and blast them out of their positions. Less than a third of the Mandalorians were sim killed, despite killing half the THDC.
The Vratix were declared the winners of the eastern contest, against the 1st Division. To everyone's surprise, the 2nd Division was declared the winners against the Greenbacks, having been able to secure and hold their objectives. Everyone had performed very well, and the soldiers' morale was high afterwards. Despite the late hour of the end of the exercise, everyone headed for the local drinking holes. They'd earned it.
