The Eocho Mountains were a range of mountains, hills, and deep valleys far south of the equator on the planet Ossus. Several of the mountains in this range were filled with Adegan crystal caves, precious lightsaber crystals which the Jedi mined for.

Drawn by the guidance of the mysterious creature that resided in what El now knew was called a holocron and that of the dark side El had found his way toward what the creature had called the temple of chaos.
He slowed the bike to an idle and took in the sight of the ruins from an ancient design, twisted spirals, jagged formations and a sense of the forboading. Yet too El could sense the power in the place it made him feel sick a d dizzy and yet free him toward it's gaping maw. Feeling snared by unseen tendrils and drawn ever deeper.
"Stop! And go no further. A snap hiss and a flash of blue light and El was suddenly brought to his senses, it were as though he had been in a stupid, he numbly drew his knife and presented it to the figure before him, a diminutive older Ithorian whose aged rasped voice matched his patched up clothes and lined face. "That weapon will do you no good boy, it cannot protect you from your greatest enemy." El-Nu laughed at the Ithorian. "I seem to find a knack at dispatching your kind." The Ithorian merely tutted and shook his head. "I am not your foe, you need only look inwards to find your greatest enemy, and if what you say is true only sorrow lies down that road." The Ithorian gestured inward toward the bowels of the temple, he then closed his eyes. "No, that is not what I sense in you, darkness, hmmm, yesss, a hunger, but you are alone and knowledge, knowledge you seek. Look no further my young friend for this path is barred to you." El-Nu seethed in fury at being hosted, he pounced only to find his weapon neatly swatted aside where it clattered in pieces on the ground. The Ithorian merely gestured with his hand and El found himself seated. "Sit and hear. What you think you know is not the truth, whatever your reasons for knowing of this place I cannot allow you to pass, I sense a darker hand at work, but it is not you boy. You are merely a puppet." Once more the Ithorian closed his eyes extinguished his weapon and gestured with his hands. The holocron freed itself from amidst El-Nu's belongings and with it a great weight. "As I suspected, and what dark ushetings has this device spoken unto you? Speak freeky."
"Only the dark side can set me free, my chains can be broken, I can rise up and become stronger, the force shall free me." The Ithorian regarded El-Nu. "Will it now? And what so far has this teaching done for you? Brought you hear to this strange and desperate place, had you kill, had you steal, forced you here. Does that sound like your chains being broken, or were you not chained to this?" The Ithorian held aloft the device. "Come." The Ithorian beckoned and El found he was free to follow and now caught up in a whirlwind of confusion he did so hoping this seemingly wisened being could shed some light.
"What is it you seek?" The Ithorian put to him once seated outside and some distance from the temple. "I want a better life, a life with more than having to fight for my existence. I don't want this kind of slavery and I don't want your kind either." "But that kind?" The Ithorian gestured toward the distant temple. "You would just be exchanging one kind of slavery for another, yet I can see you are conflicted. You don't know what to believe or trust, I don't think you even know what sort of power you posess, neither do you know how to use it, or even if any of this is real....your life it seems has only become more turbulent and unsettled, is it a conclusion you seek."
"An end! To all of this." El shouted. Yet the Ithorian nodded. "I understand. But I think you know deep down you have to reach a conclusion, your spirit will not rest, and I shall not allow you to follow the disruptive, destructive path of evil. You want a life of meaning and significance, you know of the Dark side and I cannot undo what has been done, I will not further add o your confusion. I think my actions are sufficient in showing you what the light side of the force is capable of. Yet I do not have the right skills, book, hmmm." The Ithorian fell quiet, clearly deep in thought. "I wonder, you are neither lost nor found, I wonder. Rumours arose long before your time, balance was their philosophy, their key aspects were lost on me, yet they might, just might help you. They fell to the ashes, yet whispers on the tide speak that a single flame keeper maintains a watch, a vigilance. Most pass off his mutterings as that of a crazed dusty hermit, but I believe him to be the last of their kind." El-Nj looked perplexed. "Who's kind?" The Ithorian smiled slightly. "They called themselves Jensaarai, neither walking the light or the dark. Tatooine, yes that was where the rumour sprang. He could be dead, but I cannot abandon hope, and with that a chance at saving you from a fate far worse. They are by no long stretch good, but they are certainly not evil. If you want a chance at finding answers and both a calming and quenching for your mind then I believe it is your best shot." El-Nu thought his head hurt from all of this, yet he could not deny he craved answers, what was more, in a strange way he was at the Ithorian's mercy, in a similar yet opposite manner as he had been to the holocron, only this way was by choice, or so he felt. A chance at solving this, ending it and yet also feeding his desires could not be ignored. The Ithorian had not harmed him thus far and for the first time in his life El knew that he wouldn't be harmed, which was oddly an insecure yet comforting feeling. He could only trust in the Ithorian, which did not come easy when he had only ever relied upon himself. ",If what you say is true and it is my only chance at understanding this all then I shall follow you there, you being with me proves your part of the bargin and should you betray or misguide me, have no doubt I will but you as I did your Brother. The Ithorian gave El-Nu a grim look of disapproval, then sighing held out his hand and they struck the bargain.

The following day El-Nu accompanied the tomb guardian aboard a slightly archaic looking craft, shortly the vessel lifted away from the Mountains leaving the Ossus to shrink as the ship ascended ever higher.

=Several days after the Jedi Lord arrival=
With the security of Knossa, the Praxeum, the Great Jedi Library, and other major locations, Duke Malvern began to send out troops to secure the length of the Eocho Mountains. Convoys of transports, both civilian and military, issued forth from Knossa to begin ensuring the security of the mountain region. Namely because of its important mining facilities, which extracted veins of Adegan Crystals. These crystals produced some of the strongest lightsabers in the galaxy and would prove to be a good acquisition. The Jedi Lords did not seek to nationalize the industry, but to at least ensure that the mining activity was monitored and regulated. It would be bad if people stole from the mines or sought to smuggle them to black market dealers after all. Malvern knew that Ossus would prove to be quite the resource for the future of the Jedi Lords.

+=A Few Weeks Later=+
Shihab flew high over the slopes of the mountains as he surveyed the lands being claimed, awarded, mostly to prior established owners, and secured against wildlife and bandits. From his altitude he could see more of the land and watch wildlife and foot traffic that was difficult for the patrolling fighters to pick up on their scanners. He wasn't looking for anything, or anyone, in particular just yet; rather he was familiarizing himself with the lay of the land and wind currents over them. The wind was most of why he wasn't flying above the peaks, but between them, it was simply easier to use the wind without being blown miles away at this lower altitude. He swept his eyes along the valley below, but he was really scanning the area with the force as he went. Life was plentiful again, but relatively small by the galactic average. The worst so far had been a type of wasp, very territorial and the Duke's forces were still learning the signs that nest was near. The sting wasn't terribly painful, thankfully, just debilitating; affecting movement and perception for the better part of two standard hours for most men.
A swirl of shadow in the force drew Shihab's attention, and he swooped lower to get a more detailed assessment. It was a box canyon, with a narrow and steep entrance leading to a cave just deep enough to hide most shuttles or light freighters. It was devoid of life presently, so he called in his location and that he was going ground side for a closer look at a cave system. Receiving confirmation, he rolled into a dive down the canyon and into the cave where he cut a tight arc around the interior before settling at the mouth of the cave. Not even a bird was startled from the cave, that suggested that it was kept clear of wildlife with some diligence. Walking about the cave and feeling his surroundings, Shihab followed Ashla's guidance to find a small stash of high quality crystals. The stash was mostly Adegan crystals; the prime export of the mines spread throughout the mountains. He marked the stash and continued searching, and found a very cleverly concealed side cave that contained fuel, spare parts, and tools for light maintenance on a small vessel. It seemed well cared for but abandoned, the dust thick on even the coolant and fuel hoses. It seemed this little nook had once been a smugglers blind, but now held only empty echoes of those that had made and used it. A generator was tucked away farther back, near a ladder that led to a cramped hall with niches carved in the walls where mats could be rolled out to sleep on. There were three pairs of slots stacked in the right hand wall, as the left wall was the back of the supply room. The hall terminated in a galley/sitting room with a pair of attached freshers. The appliances still worked... but clearly hadn't been used in years.
Sounds of a shuttle arriving echoed through the caves and short hall, pulling Shihab from his musings and sending him back towards the main cave. He saw Malvern colors on the guards filing out of the shuttle and taking up defensive positions out of habit. He greeted the Knight, a female Nautolan, and waved her back to see the supply cave and spartan living quarters. His low, almost growling, voice carried easily through the main chamber, though he noted a distinct lack of echoes in the cave. He nodded appreciating the attention to detail put into making this little hideout a little more smuggler friendly.
"Back here, Knight Lisolotte... Someone certainly put some effort into maintaining this place. Even baffled the walls here to keep the sounds from echoing outside, though I heard you coming in clearly enough."
The knight and her men scoured the place and began making official reports of it's existence. Shihab answered questions as best he could and then resumed his roaming patrol over the valleys of the Eocho mountians.

As events were quiet that day, Mahir returned to the smugglers blind as dusk fell into deep night. He noticed the Malver shuttle was still parked in the landing bay. He glided to a gentle stall that dropped him on the gravel at the mouth of the cave. Again he noticed the echos moving into the depths of the cave, despite not being able to hear anything coming from the back hall. He was suddenly illuminated by the shuttle's landing lights, and Mahir waved a his left hand in an arc from the elbow. He began walking inside a moment later, his steps echoing into the cave until the gravel became sand. He made it to the hall before he heard snores and chuckled to himself. Clearly someone was a heavy sleeper, though the dim light from the communal room just as clearly indicated that at least one person was not a heavy sleeper. Slipping quietly past the snoring forms in the recessed bunk slits, Mahir slipped into the communal room. A buzz at his hip alerted him to a new message awaiting delivery. He ignored it long enough to collect a tall draught of steaming shig, and grab a seat facing away from the fresher station being used. He hadn't checked the sleeping forms, so he wasn't sure who was using it presently. He wasn't particularly concerned about it either way, and pulled the data slate from it's pocket to read the message.
It was a simple update of progress for the week. Several regions had been identified as troublesome for one reason or another. Most of it was just the harsh terrain, some of it was wildlife... a few places had indigenous tribes resisting Malvern rule. Mahir noted one tribal hot spot was only a few slopes away and decided to see if he could do anything about it the next day. He had seen the villages and what may have been a fort, while patrolling the sky today; but had not felt anything suspicious from them at the time. He would make a point to visit on the following morning. The door opened behind him as he plotted his route for the afternoon, deciding he wouldn't try to solve the tribal problem in a day. It would probably require several visits and much deliberation. Though he wasn't fond of deliberation, he preferred it to war. Even if his training and temperament were better suited to the battlefield; he had survived enough battles to know that war was always the most expensive option. The steamy heat spilling out of the freshers brushed against his wings and soothed tired muscles. He stretched them to better let them soak in the heat, brushing against the occupant leaving the fresher room. She hissed and lightly batted his wingtip, as it apparently brushed the wrong spot.
"Watch where you stick that if you don't want to lose it. When did you get back? And why come here instead of going back to base?"
She asked quietly, but sternly, mindful of the lumber-mills in the hall. She set about making herself a mug of caff and shivered lightly as the cooler dryer air hit her still moist skin where her crisp uniform didn't cover her.
"Pardon, I meant no offense. The warmth is particularly welcome after a day in the sky. I arrived a few moments ago, and figured since there wasn't a need for me to be at base tomorrow I could get an early start by crashing here for the night. Though I was not expecting to have to share a bunk."
Lisolotte joined Mahir at the table with her mug of caff, and snorted amusement at his last quip. Mahir's gravelly voice resonating below even the snores of her subordinates thankfully, so it didn't blend with the background noise. Her orders had been to clean the crystal stash out, cataloguing the lot of it, and then make a thorough search for any other hidden niches. Her men had finished the cataloguing and loading of the crystals into the shuttle late that afternoon as the sun had begun to set and elected to carry on with the search the next morning. She shared this with Mahir in the same stern, rigid tone she usual spoke to her men with. Mahir enjoyed the frank bluntness, and grunted understanding as he studied the map on his slate to finalize his route for tomorrow. As he finished, he set the slate down and locked it. He thought a moment, before turning to his head to look directly at Lisolotte as he asked her opinion on the hideout.
"What do you think of this little blind? It seems well built to mine eye, simple amenities for persons stopping only a night or two before departing once more. The sound baffling in particular is well done, as I didn't hear a whisper of those snoring logs till I had reached the hall."
"It's remote enough, though I wonder how the smugglers got their goods. There didn't seem to be a path leading into the canyon. I didn't see anything on the canyon walls or that would allow for easy access to this facility either. I'm not sure how this place was maintained either. Logistics aside, it is very well outfitted to refuel and repair a small vessel. This place may still be in use, and I don't look forward to meeting the people that made this."
Mahir nodded in agreement and thought on the implications while sipping his shig, enjoying the warmth of the liquid as it flowed into his gut. He though about what he had seen of the area on his patrol... One of the villages wasn't too far from here, but it hadn't looked like a mining town. Something to ask the tribe about tomorrow.

Mahir Started early the next morning. It was an easy enough to scale the canyon walls, but there were no traces of regular traffic. Considering the location, and the view, if the neighbors weren't terrible Mahir might try to buy the little canyon for his own. It would make an excellent little hunting cabin and private retreat. If the neighbors were reasonable... it was time to pay them a visit.
It was a short flight, well more of a glide really, down to the village nearest the canyon. A few minuets of waiting at the center of the village and he was approached tentatively. The Ysanna was wary but not timid. Most queries were met with single syllabic grunt, or a shrug of the shoulders. He did figure out that the village was associated with the regional clan, which if his Ysannan was right translated to stonehead clan. That sounded promising. Mahir left the village and headed for the clan leadership. A mining and trading hub a bit farther along the slopes. The clan elders were waiting for him when he arrived, a pleasant surprise, though he probably should have expected someone to call ahead of him.
Greetings, I am called Banneret Mahir, of house Malvern. I'm surveying the area for my liege, current controller of Ossus.
One of the younger, and admittedly brawnier, Ysanna decided that controlling the temple didn't mean controlling the mountains and said as much. Technically accurate; but a waste of everyone's time. Mahir simlpy asked how many mountains the clan would like to see leveled in the process of their extermination. the planet and people had enough scars. Neither needed another... but few would notice one more scar against so many, so perhaps that would be best for the world. Malacia induced vomiting brought most of the Ysanna nearby to their knees... Several struggled but none were able to break free of their own inertia. A few minuets later everyone was inside enjoying an early lunch to replace the breakfast they'd lost. Mahir spoke with an elder and an agreement was struck. They would conform with the few laws that House Malvern required and they would not offer shelter or succor to dissidents. Any excess minerals could be sold at a fair price to House Malvern, and supplies and aid could be requested. The rest was left to the clan, so long as they didn't cause trouble.
That afternoon Mahir hunted something like a Wampa, but primarily quadrupedal. The predator was feeding off of local herds and it's thick hide absorbed bullets of the herders. Malacia again brought the beast to bay, where it was dispatched cleanly. It's carcass was provided to replace the animals it stole. Mahir left the villagers and moved along the mountains soaring high over head. He didn't find anything else of note that afternoon and camped beneath the stars.

Greetings, I am called Banneret Mahir, of house Malvern. I'm surveying the area for my liege, current controller of Ossus. Upon a rather usual day for the Banneret, a transmission went over his comlink. It seemed he had new orders and was to report to his unit's command post within the Eocho Mountains. Orders came directly from his superior of the 2nd Cohort 'Honoris', a detachment of the Fiyarro Ducal Guard. Didn't say much beyond that but orders were orders!

Mahir noticed the message and played it back, grimacing at the official summons. He wasn't fond of the politics, he much preferred the wilds and so called savages. They at least understood that annoying a large predator was, at best, masochistic. Still, this is what he'd signed up for... or been led too, by Ashla. Figures she'd take delight in stretching him into something more than the warrior he'd become by necessity. After briefly considering ignoring the summons, he decided it would be best to just get it over with. Malvern hadn't required much of him, and while he wondered if maybe he should have sought service with Titus, as he seemed a more ideal fit. But in all his meditations Ashla seemed adamant that he was exactly where he should be. So Mahir did the best he could at whatever task Malvern had for him. He'd actually enjoyed the last few weeks, mostly flying high above the mountains and directing other more specialized resources.
Mahir took the time to clean himself up a bit more than usual, and made sure he was wearing his dress uniform. Normally uniforms were a pain, but these were tailored and felt utterly luxurious, if a tad restricting and pompous. Satisfied that he was suitably presentable, Mahir set out to report as ordered. He arrived, and took a moment to adjust the uniform one last time. Then he strode into the Honoris' HQ, and waited to be admitted to his CO's office after announcing himself at the front desk in a clipped and slightly less gravelly tone than his default."Banneret Mahir, reporting as ordered."

Mahir would find more than his company's commander within the tent. His superior was Colonel Radic, a Twi'lek Jedi, but beyond that, the Banneret would notice the presence of Baron Yar Sho, commander of the Ducal Guard and a personal friend of the Duke Malvern. Speaking of him, he stood at the front of the table where Radic and Sho were discussing and reviewing reports. A major trio were situated right before Mahir and the reason for him being here would explain why these three were present themselves.
It took a moment for Malvern to move his aways away from the table however. Radic and Sho were reporting their progress on both the peaceful and agitated clans of Ysanna, colonization efforts to bring life back to Ossus, fortifcation projects to help defend the planet, and murmurs of something far more secretive. Mahir could hear the mention of the Neti, a tree-like species that lived on Ossus' forest moon. Malvern had grand ambitions for Ossus' future, a means to make it a shining jewel, just not for the Jedi Lords, but the whole of the Jedi cause and order itself. These were mere stepping stones, for now, as they ensured Ossus' place among the Jedi Lord territories and the means of stability were put in place.
It was Sho who indicated to Malvern that the person requested was here. Lucien had met Mahir before when he 'crashed' upon Serenno's surface, just outside of Fiyarro. He had given the winged humanoid a place among the Ducal Guard, after proving himself capable and resourceful. The title of Banneret was given along with this promotion to signify Stenax's first step into the ranks of the Lords. The Duke quickly concludes some matters before moving away from the table to address Mahir.
Banneret Mahir, it has been some time. Colonel Radic here tells me that you have done great work in ensuring the mountains are safe from our more... hostile Ysanna neighbors.
It wasn't a pleasure to do such a thing. The Ysanna were fellow force users and natives of Ossus, but some were taking things too far by raiding convoys, endangering citizens, and fracturing the order that Malvern sought to establish. As a Jedi, he didn't approve of being forceful, but as a nobleman, oathbound to protect his people, he had no other choice. Sometimes, things had to be... more forceful and firm in order for these troublemakers to cease their aggressions. One day, soon hopefully, he would be able to relax these measures and treat all Ysanna equally.
It is unfortunate that some of the clans refuse to accept peace and order... I just hope that they will come to accept us soon enough. We both want what is best for Ossus after all. Peace, stability, prosperity... they just view us as outsiders and seek more hostile intentions as a result.
The Duke then moves on from the unpleasant conversation and refocuses on Mahir.
What do you think of Ossus, Mahir? As a Stenax, your planet has such arid conditions if I recall. Arid deserts, plateaus, the likes. I wish Ossus was as lush and green as it once was. A true paradise for the Jedi to commune with nature and feel the very life that is the Force around them.
Hopefully, soon, Ossus would be green once more.

Mahir waited patiently, knowing that Malvern was a busy man and had many projects to balance. Not least of which was attempting to pacify some of the less cooperative tribes. For now things had mostly settled to a simmering distrust, at least in the communities that Mahir was active in. He believed that relations would improve as time went on, as the opponents either capitulated or were snuffed out. They were all given the same opportunity to thrive under Malvern, but some tribes were stubborn. It was the the way of the galaxy. Try to do some good and someone would try to get in the way. Mahir stood at attention, when his name was called, listening intently his focus back on the present. He lifted his left shoulder slightly to shrug off the praise, he'd done no more or less than the others in his mind. He was just born with a different set of tools, that were more easily applied to intimidation and surveying than most of others he served with. He responded to the query immediately, speaking as clearly as his gravely voice would allow.
"It is a scarred world; but it can still thrive again. It may take some time for the more stubborn locals to adopt your vision of prosperity Lord. As for the climate... I like the mountains well enough, not too arid or muggy and always a bit of wind to stir the leaves. I have no memory of my home world, as I was born in the depths of space. But these mountains remind me of growing up with Uncle Biron, a Shistaven hyperlane explorer. He always stopped for a few days on terrestrial worlds... to smell the scents and hear the sounds. Those are some of my fondest memories. It's nice to have a reminder so readily available as I work to bring your vision to the people. It is... comforting at the end of a days work, Lord Malvern."
Answer sufficiently given, I shut up before I started rambling. I wasn't sure what Malvern needed of me yet, but it was clear he valued my work in the mountains. The range hosted several disgruntled tribes but regular contact seemed to be improving relations. That or no one else was particularly keen to annoy him, a healthy consideration. I blinked as I mentally reeled my focus back to the present, before I missed something important.

Malvern's eyebrow raised slightly.
You did not grow up on your homeworld? That is unfortunate. I could never imagine never knowing Serenno.
Lucien looks out of the tent as there were three open flaps, allowing traffic in and out. One such flap, to his left, was open enough to view the mountains and the valley they rested in. Once upon a time, as a Ysanna guide told them, the ancestors spoke of thick forests, a river, and game beyond imagination that thrived within these valleys. There was a reason why the Neti were visiting more often, alongside Jedi experts and Ysanna chieftains. That was a conversation for another time though.
Do not consider it to just be my vision, Mahir. It is the vision of all the Jedi Lords to seek order and peace for those who have been left in the ocean of darkness. The beacons of the Republic are... dead. Replaced with the forges of war and the existence of despots. We want to give the people security and prosperity.
It was unfortunate that some tribes of the Ysanna refused to listen and fought back. Hopefully, one day, they would understand.
Ah! I forgot to mention something else.
Malvern turns and pulls out what appeared to be a rolled up piece of flimsy. It was even stamped with the seal of House Malvern.
I intend to make you a Baron, Knight Mahir. You joined us as a stranger but have proven yourself and your loyalty for our cause. A nobleman must always promote talent and reward loyalty. And I believe you should be among the first of the new nobility that will grow and thrive upon Ossus.

Mihar shrugged at his apparent misfortune, he didn't see it that way but most beings seemed too. It had long since ceased to bother him, it was a matter of perspective. He accepted the gentle rebuke, he had allowed himself to cheapen the cause by focusing only on the local scope. He would need to keep the other Lords and their realms in mind as well. Perhaps sharing information about them could help some of the tribes see them as more than just a new government. He promised himself he would do better as his gaze followed Malvern's to the mountains. He turned back to Malvern at the mention of something else. He stared at the paper for a long moment before remembering himself and accepting it. This was not at all ... expected. Very few saw the merit of putting a veritable monster in charge, especially given the slaughter his people were infamous for. He personally had no idea why that event had occured, but that was never considered, nor his lack of involvment. He was going to have to start paying more attention to etticut now, blast it all. So much for getting to enjoy being a knight indefinately... Well, it was done now... but what precisely did that mean for Mahir? Best to ask and be certain.
"What exactly does this... promotion entail? I'm not terribly familiar with fuedal government details outside of the battlefield, Lord."

"What exactly does this... promotion entail? I'm not terribly familiar with fuedal government details outside of the battlefield, Lord." The Duke was more than willing to educate Mahir on this. After all, not everyone would ready for the step from knighthood to ennoblement. The Jedi motions to Mahir, indicating that he could come closer and sit or at least be at one edge of the table.Feudalism, to some, is viewed as archaic. But, to us, it still goes along with our traditional Jedi oaths. From there, Malvern explained the roots of the Jedi Lord, dating to the Dark Age of the Republic at the height of the New Sith Wars. When systems were left without protection, there were those Jedi who desired to be more direct with this dark threat. As such, a period of questing began as Order members went forth to eradicate evil, free the enslaved, and protect the vulnerable. As such, these Jedi were viewed as a last line of defense between freedom and tyranny. Eventually, these members gained not only military power, but political influence. They were celebrated and the citizens gave them the means to take root.
As such, these predecessors made castles and manors, gained oaths of fealty from the systems they protected, and created a hereditary system. Thus, dynasties of Jedi were founded. Generations of these light siders who warred against evil and protected the weak and innocent. These domains became isles of peace and stability among the sea of darkness and war. It was these Jedi Lords that even contributed the most to the Army of Light and pushed for a final confrontation against the Sith and their Brotherhood of Darkness. We are both Jedi and Noble. The Duke explains at the conclusion of this tale.As Jedi, we adhere to the Light, we protect the innocent, and fight against the evil and tyrannical in the galaxy. As nobles, we have the duty to ensure prosperity and peace for our sworn citizens. We ensure just governance and provide necessities. We ensure revenues are collected and spent wisely, that laws are respected and enforced, and ensure unity among people. As such, we are Jedi and we are Lord.He then proceeds to gesture to his own retainers. We are sworn to protect, but so too are citizens sworn to an oath. Some may view this servitude and submission, but we view it as the relation between Lord and Citizen. We give, they give, we provide, they provide. An equal exchange. It is our duty to be good to the people as they are good to us. Otherwise, tyranny may follow... and the order will become disorder.Malvern then gestures to Mahir. As a Baron, you will start at the lowest rank of nobility. You will be given a grant of land, the means to build a castle or manor, and thus the beginnings of your domain. You must provide for your sworn citizens, ensure to their needs. In return, they will be grateful and rally to you in times of need. We are not masters, we are protectors and lawmakers. The Duke ponders for a moment before pulling a datapad.I will lend you a few experienced persons to help you in beginning your foundation. Keep an eye on the talented and loyal in the future, force sensitive or not, for they will serve you at your court and be your knights. They will represent you and be the voices of reason, the speakers of advice, and the swords of your fury.

I listen with undivided attention as Lord Malvern explains in simple detail everything I had seen in action all around me but never qiute gotten put into words. This would not be like prior temple postings, where I would wait for trouble to spring up and be summoned. I would be expected to weed the troubles out before they took root , with a special focus on the lands granted me. I would be required to build a legacy, a dynasty to look after things when I moved on. Those... were not things I had considered seriously before today. I bow my head as my Lord finishes his explanation to continue processing how my life had just been changed. I had once been happy to live abourd a ship, do what I could and move on. Now I would need to plan the growth and defense of a region even amidst the darkness swirling between the stars. This would be very different indeed. I raise my head again bow deeply to Lord Malvern, my wings flairing slightly to either side in a rather dramatic fashion, something a prior master had great fondness for.
"You humble me with this great honor and trust. I am immensly grateful for the aide of trusted advisors. Ashla knows I will need them. I look forward to many years of prosperous service, my lord.

"You humble me with this great honor and trust. I am immensly grateful for the aide of trusted advisors. Ashla knows I will need them. I look forward to many years of prosperous service, my lord. Malvern then made his way to the other side of the table and gestured to the floor.Kneel then, Sir Mahir. It had been awhile since the Duke had had this privilege of elevating someone from the rank of knighthood to the first step as a noble. During the civil war, and the resulting unification, there had been plenty of that as talented, loyal, and skilled persons were raised up in ranks as they gave effort to seeing Serenno united. Mahir was to be the first, outside of Serenno, to be ennobled as a nobleman of Ossus.
Once the immense Mahir had done so, Lucien drew his lightsaber and ignited it. The elegant crossguard was illuminated by a golden blade. Those to witness this, Yar Sho and Dendarrion Ras turned to give witness to the ennoblement. Slowly, the blade was heard moving through the air as Malvern gave a salute before it rested just off his right shoulder. As a Jedi, you are sworn to protect the weak and banish the darkness. Then the blade went over his head and hovered his left shoulder. As a noble, you are to ensure security, prosperity, and just rule to those who are your subjects. Then it moved once more to the right. And by the Light shall you prosper. By the Light shall you be a defender of the people. By the Light shall you be a wise lawgiver. By the Light shall you defeat evil and restore freedom to those who suffered under cruelty and destruction. The blade remained upon the right as Malvern gave his proclamation.I, Lucien Malvern, Duke of Fiyarro, Lord of Ossus, and Lord Commander of our united forces, hereby elevate Mahir from the rank of Banneret to that of Baron. May the Force forever guide him. May the Light shine upon his rule. And may he be a model for to come. The lightsaber is turned off seconds later. Only to be replaced by the Duke's extended hand.Arise, Lord Mahir.

I knelt as directed, and was glad that lord Malvern was not a short man. Standing at 2.4 meters, kneeling still left us nearly eye-to-eye. I tucked my wings in close behind me to keep them out of the way and was glad I had chosen to wear just my lightsaber today instead of fitting it into the phrick staff that had been made for it. Honoghr had been kind to me, and was still a place to rest, if I needed it. Ashla had called me to Serreno, and then I participated in this restoration of Ossus. I still felt Ashla's call like a warm glow in my soul, and it was right that I was here now. I hoped I would not disappoint Ashla or the other lords, least of all my own Duke. As I am bid to rise, I can feel the weight of the new responsibilities resting on my shoulders, like an old winter cloak. I solemnly accept the Duke's offered hand and offer my gratitude.
"By strength of light and my blade's might, this life will strive to build a legacy of thriving life."
Mahir wonders if he'll need new uniforms, and where precisely he would be placed to get set up. Idle curiosity really, he'd be told what he needed to know when he needed to know it. Probably. Mahir was rather awestruck by the promotion, as the impending changes begin to really sink into his mind. He blinks his solid white eyes slowly, inhaling deeply and holding it a moment before exhaling slowly. He clearly was feeling the moment, and his force aura seemed to grow a little brighter and bit sharper in hue.

"By strength of light and my blade's might, this life will strive to build a legacy of thriving life." And, with that completed, Mahir rose as a noble. Both Yar Sho and Dendarrion raised their hands and clapped, indicating approval and congratulations to the newly elevated Jedi Lord. The Duke motions to the table, indicating for Mahir to join them. There, Yar Sho brought up a holomap of the Eocho Mountains, namely in the eastern parts, opposite of that of Knossa.Your land grant will be two fold, Mahir.Malvern indicates a deep valley of the Eocho Mountains that spills out into what were once plains, according to the Ysanna. Here, in this area, your legacy will be built. In these mountains, especially, are several Adegan crystal caves with which you will mine and transport to both ourselves and our Order kin. The precious lightsaber crystals are worth much for personal usage and for selling. Then he points to the open land before the valley. You will join with the Ysanna to help cultivate the land as much as possible. It will be your source of food.Malvern looks at the region quietly for a moment....hopefully, it can be revived and made green again though.

The applause was ... encouraging. Mahir wasn't usually one for fancy words, but occasionally something just sort of clicked into place, just felt right. He largely attributed this to Ashla's guidance. He focussed carefully on the map as Duke Malvern revealed Mahir's new domain. He took particular notice of the mentioned mines, taking note of their locations and notable landmarks near each so he could better find them from the air. A piece of his mind noting little things that would aid or hinder the defence of the mines, an old habit now. The plains and slopes seemed nice enough, though he had little knowledge of farming or growing things. He would need to find good advisors for that, and probably do some research himself.
"It will take some time my Lord, but Ashla will heal this world. Do you require any particular defenses built within these lands? I mean for the good of the world specifically, I presume regional defenses are my own responsibility."
Mahir wasn't quite sure where he'd put his personal residence, but was leaning towards a mountain fortress. The mountains would also be an excellent vantage for any surface-orbit batteries. The plains would be vulnerable, but there wasn't much to be done there, not with any efficiency. Perhaps irrigation works would be able to help the plain both for growing food and offering passable defenses. Wasn't much more he could think of for those, the mountains would provide plenty of materials for construction though, gravels and ore for ferrocrete, dressed stone for nicer buildings, some lumber though it would likely do well to import a good bit of that. Kashyyyk has good trees, maybe a few seeds could be acquired... Mahir's thoughts began to flit about as he tried to think about everything at once. His head canted slightly, a habit picked up from his uncle, and his lips twitched with half words as his mind raced. the room about him faded quickly from his conscious perception.

"It will take some time my Lord, but Ashla will heal this world. Do you require any particular defenses built within these lands? I mean for the good of the world specifically, I presume regional defenses are my own responsibility." Once the overview of the map was completed, Lucien could see that Mahir was eager.I will leave that to your discretion and by the advice of your retainers.Duke Malvern did not want to dictate what needed to be done, but rather Mahir use this as a valuable learning experience. He would need the right people to aid him, know how to fortify the land, ensure it was fertile, and see to the needs of his subjects. Lucien was to ensure that a few recommendations were made available and ready, but the rest would come down to Mahir's judgements. Of course, the Duke would intercede if need be, but Mahir was capable and, with a good circle of retainers and advisors, he would prosper.I will advise, however, that you ensure a good trust is built between yourself, your subjects and your own circle. That way you will ahve less issue when it comes to building up your lands and ensuring they will thrive and prosper.
