*Sa Tiva nodded her head and lead him quickly to the Heretic's Hearth. The Sekotan vessel immediately auto targeted the mandolorians as they enterted the clearing. Sa Tiva barked at the ship to stand down and lower the boarding platform. The ship whispered an apology to the mandolorians as it turned it's minor armament in other directions.
Once in the vivarium, she instructed Kaine to lay his son on the molded flesh bunks. She turned lambents towards the young man to get a clear look at his face and clucked her tongue.* "Does he want to see, or does he want to be a weapon?" *She asked while she prepared a neutralizing agent for the acid drenching the man's face.* "Hold him down, I do not wish to damage him further with my restraint methods..." *she wanted to go on about discipline to pain, but it was not the time. She pointed to his arms, chest, and legs to indicate where they should hold the man.
Once he was restrained, she squeezed the creature that contained the neutralizing cocktail over his head where the acid was reacting to his tissues. She grabbed several pads of cloth from another vestibule in the ship and pressed them to liquid from the creature. She used it dab around the delicate and raw edges of his face.* "He is lucky. This is rather clean for an acid burn. I can stabilize him if you would rather have your own medics look at him- though I caution you not to use bacta immediately." *She paused, wondering if she should tell him why. After a moment's deliberation* "I don't know if the effect is permanent, but this creature has been known to cause bacta allergies after use. It is the best for neutralizing the acid he was sprayed with, but it does have side effects." Kaine felt relief flood him as the female led him into the living vessel. The other Australis Mando'ade were professional enough not to turn their heads from their apparent outward vigil, but Kaine knew they were watching and probably incredulous. He didn't care, Reyn's life and safety were all that mattered to him in that moment. Kaine laid Reyn down. He couldn't think of his child as a body, with Death so near, the father trying not to look at the horrific injuries. Unlike so many of his other children, though he loved them all equally, Kaine had raised Reyn from a baby. He choked back the clench at the back of his throat. Not trusting himself to reply, and grunting instead, Kaine reached out to restrain Reyn's wrists against the presumably living bed. Will he? Kaine tried to ask, and had to try a second time. Will he be as he was? The thought of anything else chilled the great brave soldier to the bone. Here he was nothing more than any other frightened parent. Fear had become almost anathema to Kaine, and having it strike so deep and hard almost completely unmanned him.Do what you must to restore him. Do anything you have to.
The price. He wanted to say. But it was pointless. He would pay any price. Could he admit that? He had already admitted it to himself, and he suspected it was written all over his face, helmeted or not.

*Sa Tiva clucked her tongue slightly, before reaching for a handful of creatures that would consume the man's deadened flesh and make the ragged wound easier to manipulate. The beasties looked like maggots and writhed pale and somewhat luminous in the light of the vivarium. She reached for another creature, this one looking a great deal like an eye. It was one of her own creations - off script from the shaper texts. While it followed the cell line of a plaeryin bol, instead of a poison gland, the creature held the optic nerve connections of a humanoid eye. But unlike the human eye, it used the unique combination of the heat pit to see in infrared rather than the normal visible spectrum of light. It wouldn't be able to be toggled on or off like a robotic implant - those mechanical monstrosities these people used. It was superior in some ways to the plaeryin bol - he would still be able to see. Getting used to the signals might take some time.
She waited for the maggot like creatures - she liked to call them debride worms - to remove the remaining bits of the man's eye. They were efficient with their business, methodic and quick. She clicked through her nails to find the correct grafting tool that would connect the nerve of the ulandoor bol to what remained of the human's optic nerve. She delicately settled the creature into the socket and set several other specimens to weave the skin of his face back together. Her nekmehl skittered over the ragged surface of his face spinning material much like glistaweb, but far more motile. The nekmehl mandibles bit into his flesh and wove patches of new skin across the gaps. The small area wouldn't be fully blaster proof, but it would easily dissipate burns or other energy away from the tender nerves below.
While the creatures worked, she sprayed a small bit of pheromone across his face to keep them focused on their task.* "This eye, the ulandoor bol, it is new but similar to a plaeryin bol. It does not hold poison, but instead will allow this man to see heat." *She waved a hand over the nekmehl again to waft the pheromone. They would take a couple of more applications to finish their work.* "The glistaweb skin will be tougher than what he is accustomed to, and in time will incorporate more of his natural skin tone as the cells become integrated."
*She looked over his face once more before continuing.* "The acid was neutralized before it could do much bone damage. His muscles will need time to reknit under the gilstaweb. It would be wise to give him that time." *Once more she wafted the pheromone across his face. Then she reached into a bin to pull out a series of creatures that exuded balms or tinctures.* "Let these rest on the wounds two times daily for a cycle- the black one fights infection and the blue one helps with swelling, though it may increase pain."

Kaine watched nervously but silently as the Shaper did her work. He tried to keep his mind away from judging the entirely alien process, forcing himself away from his lifelong fear and loathing of all things Yuuzhan Vong. This Vongese was saving his boy, and for that, Kaine Australis would endure a million more mental torments should that be his penance. The creatures with which the master shaper worked were unknown to the old soldier, who was only familiar, and even then in passing, with the more martial bioforms that saw use on the field of battle.
Though he did not understand the process or the science, Kaine did deduce that this being knew what she was doing, and that reassurance he wrapped around himself like a blanket against the icy fear and doubt that chilled him to his core. Sa Tiva worked, and Kaine silently kept vigil. He listened when the Shaper spoke to him. He knew of the Playerin Bol of course, he supposed Bol was close enough to ball for eyeball, though he could have been wrong. Language wasn't his strong suit.I understand. Kaine said, nodding at the instructions as if a regular medic had said to take some pills and comm in the morning. What do I owe you? He could have said, though he wasn't about to offend the being who had just done him an immesurable service. He would remember this for the rest of his life, whatever the galaxy let him have. Reyn would too, though this was Kaine's debt; and his sin.Pain lets you know you're still alive. Kaine said, figuring a Vongese would appreciate the sentiment. Sa Tiva

*The hyperspace lane was not some mystic highway plowed into the orbit of a planet; was a tried and true safe passage. O'Rathallie chose the road less traveled, risking meteors and other obstacles to travel undetected he navigated the ship on it's way And in this manner the ship !slipped through hyperspace

Co-pilot and Pilot watched the show ahead of them. The sudden jump in speed at what he thought was their turn off the hyperspace lane, at least to their understanding was unsettling for a split second -Co-pilot- "Do you think this dude is as drunk as we are?" His Boss, Big Cheese , Co Accused, whatever name you wanted to call him, the man at the helm responded -Pilot- "Knows more than us I guess." The ship sped up and followed

Tearing along through hyperspace Morrigan stood by the pilot -Morrigan- "There!" The pilot was unfamiliar with the exit. And the pilot enjoyed breathing, reluctantly made the turn. Morrigan knew that much of the defensive claimed were absurd .... Much like much of what was being shot off on the planet surface was absurd... or at best ill informed

The battle for the Kiffex system had been a tough one. The enemy had managed to scrape up a Star Destroyer and a small escort fleet, and they had given the Vegemite forces quite a battle above the twin world to Kiffu. The enemy fleet was scrap, and the Star Destroyer was a floating hulk, boarded and captured by Mandalorian boarding commandos. The conflict had moved from space to ground, centered around the Deadend Prison complex down on Kiffex's surface. Surface to Space cannons had made a dropship assault suicidal, until the bombardment of the surface had suppressed the defenses sufficiently to make the attack option a viable one. The initial assault had been via drop pod, and while successful, casualties had been high.Amaranth and her advance teams had already penetrated the prison utilizing personal cloaking devices and holoshrouds, while integrated field disruptors allowed them to bypass energy shields and secure a route deep into the heart of the enemy's defences. Dropship assaults were bringing down the second and third waves of the assault by the time the enemy realized there were hostiles inside their lines. As luck or providence would have it, it was Amaranth's team that broke into the command chamber first, with blasterfire stitching back and forth between the defenders and her assault teams. She lost half her team making the entrance, though the enemy's casualties were almost total. Finally the enemy leader leapt into battle, a black blur of robes and crimson lightsaber that flew across the room and decapitated Amaranth's second in command.Kriffing chakaar! Amy swore, barely getting her beskad into line to meet the Sith's bloodshine blade as it came for her. By Kad the sithspawn was fast, as she blocked once, twice, thrice, before the darksider leapt away to reassess his attack, yellow eyes glowing. Amaranth glared back, hatred and vengeance in her eyes. She didn't have to fear the kriffing dark side. They were alone in the chamber, the only sound left the humming of the Sith's weapon. The two warriors circled one another, looking for openings. Amy saw hers as the Sith leapt in to attack again. She raised her blade high to meet the first cut. A whizzing sound followed a thump, as the glowing lightsaber crackled against the good Mandalorian Iron of the beskad, the Sith's glowing yellow eyes went wide with surprise. Die slow, you hut'uun. Amaranth said, as realization dawned in the Sith's eyes. His blade sputtered out as it fell from his paralyzed hands. A moment later the Sith too fell to the floor in a heap of robes and slack muscles. Malkite Themfar poison was rare, expensive, and extremely deadly. Paralysis followed by death was assured, which was why many Mandos chose to coat their knee darts with it. The last thing the dying Sith lord heard was Amy's boots on the floor as she walked away, his Sith saber a trophy hanging from her belt.

Master Adasca sat back in the comfortable couch in her private quarters aboard her ship the Shadowbinder as it made its way through hyperspace. She'd never liked to sit still for very long, and was just completing a tour of some of the minor worlds that didn't get so much galactic attention when a holotransmission had come in from Taanab. She'd seen the interim proposals for the Inner Rim Imperium, and given they'd come from Mandalorians, was surprised at the lack of "Join us or die" rhetoric she'd come to expect from them.
The request from Taanab had come in the form of a formal invitation to be the representative for a League of Minor worlds comprising Adari, Bogden, Chazwa, and several other minor colonies and outposts. The league would combine for a single representative, matched by one from each of the major worlds who would be a part of the new alliance.
She'd considered the matter carefully before transmitting her acceptance. Adara then sent a personal transmission to each of the invited member worlds, expressing her support for the project, and willingness to discuss any issues those worlds might have. The task of helping to run an interstellar government was a daunting one, but a challenge the Master felt she was capable of meeting to the best of her abilities. And what better way to push back the darkness, than to see a peaceful coalition of worlds grow strong?

In the cold black depths of the void, a marauder-class corvette emerged from the winding corridors of hyperspace somewhere between the Obroa-skai and Myrkr systems. The hull of the light warship had been stripped of paint and appeared to be corroded in sections, evident by the chemical clouds that vented from leaks in its thin armoured plates that made the ship look as though it were exhaling at times. Across its surface, out-of-place mechanical bulges stuck out from the poorly maintained corvette, like tumours bulging against a cancerous host's skin.Seated in the command throne on the bridge of the 'Poisoned Breath', was a roguish looking human with a slicked back crop of greasy black hair and pale alabaster skin. A gruff layer of stubble on the lower half of the man's face added to the effect, though what was really remarkable overall was the man's eyes. Instead of the blue lined orbs he had been born with, his eyes had been replaced with luminous photo-receptors that glowed a sickly green as though possessed. "Begin separation sequence." He said from his chair, before leaning in so that he could observe the screens of the malnourished officers seated in front of him. A shudder ran through the men's bodies as they could feel the cyborg's glare move from the nape of their neck to the dimmed projections they were managing. All across the hull, a shudder and groan sounded throughout the vessel's frame as those metallic boils demagnetized and floated away from the corvette. Three solar paneled wings coated in a filmy layer of reflect polymer extended out from the drifting tumours. As the wings peeled away from the main body of each object and locked at their full extension, each device was revealed to be a communications satellite, numbering a dozen in total."Good. Now fire final phase boosters." A signal was sent to each satellite and the booster rocket connected to them. Primitive chemical fueled tubes burned in the airless void, accelerating each object forwards and away from the Poisoned Breath. Six were boosted towards the Obroa-skai system, another six towards Myrkr. For now they didn't transmit, didn't beam back any collected data to a singular source. They just sped quietly towards their target destinations, their carefully synchronized time pieces counting down towards some unclear deadline."Now." He growled coldly. "Let's move into position." Maneuvering thrusters spun the marauder corvette around until the bow of the craft was pointed back the way it came. Engines flared to life before hurtling the warship back into the hyperlane as it entered lightspeed travel.

Aboard the Red Rocket, enroute to Obroa-Skai from Mandalore
By now, Amaranth had deduced that the Red Rocket's unscheduled departure from Mandalore meant that it was not going to Myrkr. The ship was going to Obroa-Skai, and into battle, and whether her brother had made the right decision or not, they were all in a great deal of trouble. She had to stick to what she could do to improve their situation. As an intelligence officer, she took stock of what forces her side possessed, and what they could do. There was no way to know the situation until they arrived.
By now, she knew Reyn would have noticed that she was stowing away aboard his ship, and if he hadn't come to her by now, it meant he was busier than he was offended. That was a mark in his favour as Amaranth saw it. She'd have to work hard to make sure his first combat command didn't turn into a clustershab.
There were enough veterans among the Red Rocket's complement to make sure there were no mistakes. Reyn's own Stormwolves were capable. The heavily armoured boarding commandos were the best in the galaxy at Zero-G combat, and the Redbacks were the finest shots. Kaine's own Jare'rami'kade were unpredictable, uncontrollable, and very effective in making the enemy's life hell. The latter could even be a match for Jedi and Sith, which was saying something for non-force sensitive warriors.
Amy had always worked hard to keep her Force talents quiet, Mandalorians, even the accepting ones, could be very funny about the Force. The Shabla Force, most of them called it. Once she had been appointed to command Rancor Squadron, a group of all Force talented pilots, she'd known her secret was out, at least to those with a high enough security clearance. Unfortunately for her, that included most of her immediate family, those she would have preferred to remain ignorant. She shunted her own feelings aside, focusing herself on the task at hand.
Her own pilots were an eclectic group made up of half a dozen species, a bit rough and ready, but all skilled in combat piloting, and well practiced in coordinating with one another through the Force. They flew the Cabur, the secret and highly advanced Mandalorian stealth bomber, nigh invisible, carrying a heavy payload. All twelve of the craft were aboard Red Rocket, under the loving care and attention of the maintenance crews.
She'd flown with many of the other squadrons' pilots on board in several engagements, and they were well seasoned and capable. The Mandalorians had access to state of the art heavy fighters and swift interceptors, and they'd all be able to outmatch most anything else they might face at Obroa-Skai. Knowing yourself was half the battle. She knew Colonel Trifel on the Library world would fight hard and resist the enemy as long as she could. Red Rocket would lend itself to that resistance, hopefully, until a more coordinated response could arrive.

On the forested world of Wayland, located not far from the Clan Australis Homeworld of Myrkr, lay a large mountain, which had formerly housed Emperor Palpatine's storehouse, long occupied by the Clan. The facility had been repurposed with research and deep storage vaults, and upgraded with the highest security. Kaine had repurposed the base and fortified it with defences and a full garrison, then ensured that the entire facility was camoflaged well, armored, shielded, and obfuscated from easy view.
Wayland was a low tech world that mostly kept to itself with various villages and nomadic tribes which inhabited the wilds. The locals knew to avoid the Mountain, and though the Mandalorians left them alone, they still did not go near the place. They remembered Palpatine's Empire. Kaine's Mount Tantiss was a fortress that guarded some of the Clan's deepest and darkest secrets, and he did not want just anyone wandering in.
The Clan's presence on Wayland was based out of the Mountain, and though they did conduct training and patrols through the forests and jungles, they never strayed too far from the home base. Myrkr provided the same environments and with far better and more extensive facilities. It was the perfect place to conduct all sorts of classified projects, and the presence of a small garrison covered this nicely, all the while providing security.

Wayland - Australis Space, near MyrkrClan Australis's homeworld of Myrkr was a reasonably quiet world, with some trade moving in and out of the system, as well as the military traffic of Clan Australis. A stone's throw away in galactic terms was Wayland, with little population, most of which was low-tech primitive tribes. It made for a quiet out of the way world for the Clan, which maintained a storehouse at Mount Tantiss, and, occasionally, such as today, a world to practice away from prying eyes. The Warlock-Class ship Carnifex was in orbit, along with her full crew, and a thousand Australis commandos. They were there to simulate the Byss operation from atmospheric entry to landing and the establishment of a beachhead on the surface. These were their primary objectives. First, they had to master the difficult descent, which would undoubtedly come under enemy fire. The first two attempts at entry were aborted, a failing grade, but not willing to risk a crash, they had to make an emergency ascent and restart the operation. The third attempt went better, and the Carnifex came safely and somewhat stably to a low altitude which it managed to maintain at around five hundred meters. Simulated ground fire and enemy fleet fire was calculated by the Clan's AI; BOO, which communicated hits and casualties over the Clan's battle link. The third attempt was also the first to successfully get troops onto the ground in numbers and to establish a beachhead. Ground vehicles and shield generators were successfully deployed and some clear ground marked out for a landing zone. The attempt also ended in a failure, however, as a simulated First Order counterattack successfully overran the landing zone. Simulated casualties were high as the ship came under renewed attack and the survivors were driven out and scattered. Grimly, the troops restarted the operation for a fourth attempt. They would keep going until they could get it right. There was little point to embarking on an operation for which they had not practiced over and over. The Carnifex's crew improved each time they made the descent, getting used to how their ship behaved under the atmospheric punishment they took her through. The commandos too, quickly adapted to the challenge, finding ways to save time and effort. The AI gave them no quarter, changing its own tactics and approach each time to further challenge the warriors of the Clan.
By the end of that first day of exercises, the troops had made seven attempts, of which four made landings, and two established a defended beachhead while avoiding mass casualties. Two wins from seven was not acceptable, but for the first day it was a pleasing result. Day two beckoned, with the challenge now becoming familiar, the troops and pilots adapting each time, improving, and becoming more prepared for what was to come.

Wayland - Australis Space, Near MyrkrWayland was beginning to show the signs of wear and tear as the second full day of exercises continued. Each landing and beachhead attempt destroyed acres of forest and set fires and tore up the ground with explosions and blasts, as the commandos deployed firepower in their simulated assault attempts. By the second day, the opposing force, made up of Foreign Legion in their thousands, were getting their own work in.
The opposing force had been outfitted with AT-ATs and AT-STs as well as E-web repeating blasters to augment their infantry, of which they had about fifteen thousand. Not all of them were engaged at once, of course, with the foreign legionaries needing to rest in between exercises, unlike the Commandos they faced, who only got to rest in between restarts. Each exercise had to move to a different area of the planet, which was left in ruins by the expenditure of turbolaser blasts and explosives.Kaine's shuttle arrived in orbit as Carnifex rose up for a restart of the exercies. T oday's score was four successes in a row for the attackers. Carnifex's crew were by now comfortable with diving into the atmosphere, and the commandos had adapted to the quick drop and beachhead assault well. The shuttle docked with the Destroyer, and the Field Marshal went among his troops for the next exercise.Unfortunately for Kaine, he was one of the first simulated killed during the descent, taken out by a turbolaser blast from the ground along with a dozen others. He crossed his arms in a harrumph, as the other Commandos chuckled and guffawed at his misfortune. Soon enough though, the ship achieved its stable low altitude, and the holds emptied of personnel and cargo at a speed that astonished the Alor. Left behind with the other dead, Kaine shrugged, and though he wouldn't interfere, decided he wanted a better view, and leapt out of an open hatch to watch from the ground.Unfortunately for the Commandos, this exercise the AI had changed its tactics once more, deploying some as yet unseen Clone Wars era battle droids on the side of the defenders, augmenting their infantry, which seemed endless to the commandos who numbered in the hundreds. The few tanks and the support fire from the Carnifex weren't enough to hold back the tide, as the beachhead was assaulted from three directions by columns of heavy walkers, while two infantry formations enveloped the area, with huge droids among them.
The commandos had successfully deployed their prefabricated base, and the Carnifex had successfully blasted out dead ground all around, the lines were unable to hold. The heavy weapons of the defenders were too much once they penetrated the shields, and casualties mounted quickly. The exercise was ended soon after, with a win for the defenders. The first of the day, breaking the winning streak of the commandos, and giving them a new enemy approach to consider. Failure was a good teacher, and the commandos of Clan Australis were all good students of the arts of war.Kaine left the commandos in reboarding for another try. While the ten companies and their equipment were restocked aboard the Destroyer, which would then climb back to orbit for a new descent, the Alor went off into the jungle to join the opposing forces. He'd be an observer rather than participating himself, and was able to follow the entire battlespace via an uplink to the Clan's AI in his helmet HUD. Wandering through the jungle, he moved between Foreign Legion units and battle droids, all redeploying to the next exercise zone a dozen kilometers to the north.
The next exercise would begin, and another area of Wayland's otherwise pristine surface would be torn apart and blasted to ruin in the name of training.

Wayland - Australis Space, Near Myrkr After several tough days of landing practice, Kaine moved the exercise timetable up. The crew of the Carnifex and the commandos had just about optimized their approach and landing, and there was little to be gained in making them repeat a process they had displayed mastery of. The ship moved up to orbit, leaving the ground force in place. From here the Commandos would play out a standard King of the Hill exercise, defending their position against the Opposing Force.
Because of the uncertainty of the air and space situation, the exercise assumed that the skies would be neutral at best, with friendly airpower and enemy airpower effectively cancelling one another out. For the real operation, the Mandalorians were bringing plenty of anti air units which would hopefully let them establish at least a small no fly zone. This exercise would be limited to ground combat, and not an easy task for the outnumbered commando force.Kaine observed from a distance as the ground forces made up of the Foreign Legion assaulted the Commandos again and again. With each engagement, they found less and less success as the experienced veterans of the Commando corps began to work together and maximize their own advantages against their opponents. Time and again the heavy vehicles and walkers of the OpFor would be stalled by missile teams. When the enemy infantry advanced to clear the way, they ran into ambushes by teams of commandos, which then pulled back.
The strategy being employed by the commandos was as old as time, maximizing enemy casualties while preserving as much of their own strength as possible. Each exercise improved the results for the Commandos, save for one which they lost. An infantry unit distinguished itself by managing to penetrate the perimiter and destroy the shield generator protecting the base. This allowed OpFor artillery to rain destruction and cause enough casualties to rack up a win. The commandos were chastened by the defeat, and again regrouped and reorganized to prevent a repeat of the somewhat miraculous penetration of their defences.Watching his people work, Kaine began to feel more confident that they could really pull off the ambitious task that he'd set them. Despite the AI in command of the Opposing Force throwing every trick and surprise it could, with the advantage of overwhelming numbers and firepower, the Commandos endured, adapted, improvised, and improved each time. The Foreign Legion fought well for regular troops, enduring the mostly one-sided fight with good humour. Kaine began organizing a feast for the troops for the end of the week, deciding that they'd all earned it.

Wayland
The usually silent space around the planet Wayland reflected the desolate nature of the planet itself - with minimal activity save for a few small sects, the planet was all but abandoned. This silence was broken, suddenly, when bright flashes erupted in the void of space. Hundreds of flashes in varying intervals illuminated the night, like a firework show - though no one was there to truly appreciate it. The last of the flashes occurred just as the planet had begun a new rotation cycle. The previously lifeless abyss (save for one ship on the other side of the planet) was now teeming with an armada of various ships.
These were not warships, however, but rather a motley fleet of transports and support craft. While at first glance, it appeared as though they were a disjointed force that seemed to gather at the same place by some miracle of coincidence, they soon fell into a formation. The ships created an orderly column, and as a whole, began to descend to the surface of Wayland - making it a point to land on the dark side of the planet.
Among these ships was a lone Nubian J-Type Diplomatic Barge, though it was clear this was no ordinary Nubian vessel. Rather than sporting the usual chrome, this vessel had an ominous matte black hull, giving it the appearance of a sinister broad headed arrow. The surrounding vessels allowed the Nubian to take point on the descent, for many knew who sat aboard. None other than their lord and commander, Darth Nexus.
The Arrakis, as the vessel was known, was the first to touch down after navigating around several mountain passes and forests in favor of a large clearing. As the vessel touched the planets surface, it was soon followed by many others - more than the naked eye could see. This clearing, which was massive and out of place for the usually mountainous and forest filled world of Wayland, had been strategically selected as a staging ground for a base camp. This was where his army would meet, and be organized, debriefed and familiarized with one another. It had been long since the last reunion of the Dark Legion, Hssiss, Praetorians and Forsworn - in the stead of many who were too old to fight stood their sons, who were brought up on tales of glory. These green boys would need to be trained, fortunately there was a fair share of veterans who could prepare them for the coming battle.
As the last of the ships touched down, the Forsworn, who were all in attendance, began orchestrating setting up the camp with their officers. While at first the camp would be sparse, this would be only for a short while, as several large transport vessels were on their way to the backwater planet loaded with supplies to prepare the men.

Wayland - Australis Space, Near MyrkrWayland Space was beginning to recieve more visitors in a week than it usually saw in a year. With the allies beginning to arrive, another group of Australis vessels came in, two Acclamator assault ships, and two Hodasal-class freighters. These four also made for the planet where they would land and disgorge LAAT gunships and ground vehicles including tanks and war droids, as well as more large battle droids. Behind the ships came a pair of Golan-III battlestations, riding their single-use hyperdrive into position in the Wayland system. One took a position in deep space well beyond the planet, while the second moved into a high geostationary orbit. Thus both simulated the positions of the hostile stations the allies would face in the Byss system.Down on the surface, the Commandos and Legionaries continued their exercises under the watchful supervision of the Clan's AI, and observations of Kaine, who was wandering the jungles and forests. While the battles were simulated between the Opfor of the Foreign Legion and the Commandos of the Byss Assault Force, there had been casualties, and several deaths. The troops used simulated fire, and all artillery was likewise simulated. There were still heavy weapon discharges, such as those from the Carnifex to clear terrain for the Commando force, and flash mines and concussion explosions. There was some isolated melee combat, which produced the bulk of the minor injuries. Once the Commandos had successfully defended their beachhead and survived enough times, Kaine called a temporary halt for the next set of exercises. At Mount Tantiss, a reserve force of Legionaries began to assemble in great numbers, having come in aboard the Acclamators. They formed up in infantry and armored units, supported by tanks. Fire support for their force was heavy, with artillery and gunships to work in close conjunction with the advancing units. Some of the Legion augmented the Mountain's small but elite garrison, while the remainder continued to prepare for their part in the exercises to come.Through the battle network, all the Clan's forces had been notified that allies would be joining them on Wayland for training purposes. This steeled the hearts of many who had assumed the Clan would be going at Byss alone. Though there was no word yet if the Mando'ade would exercise with the allied forces, or not, word of the potential and possibility was rife among the troops from Foreign Legion to Copad Legion to Commandos. Even among the high officers at the command level, there was much conjecture as to the possibilites for the preparations and for the assault itself which was to come. Kaine, meanwhile, had found some of his Jare'rami'kade, who had already set up several ale kegs and a barbeque which was searing local boar meat. The supercommandos had no issue with eating their own emblem. The Alor joined them for food and drink and rest. The mood was far more subdued than the raucous celebrations on Manda'yaim, partly due to how tired the Commandos were, but also because everyone was taking the training deadly seriously. As Wayland's forests and jungles went dark under a starry sky, the Mandalorians sat around cookfires and took their rest before another day of slugging it out.

WAYLAND - Dark Legion EncampmentThe Dark Lord disembarked the Arrakis to see a formation of men that filled him with a sense of pride. These men, who had not been on active duty for years, lacked none of their previous fervor, dedication and discipline. The first to greet the Dark Lord were his Forsworn - chief commanders of his military forces. At their head was Sanguine, the first among them, clad in his polished black battle raiment. With him stood were his four brothers in arms, all trained by the Dark Lord himself.
If Sanguine was to be the first among them, there was no doubt that his second was Abbraxis, a fierce and towering Epicanthix who was tall even among his own people. Abbraxis was the de facto second-in-command of the Hssiss - the fierce power suit wearing shock troops that sewed terror in the hearts of most that saw them on the battlefield. As such, Abbraxis wore a suit much like theirs - a modified Mark VI Power suit equipped with shield generators and stealth field generators, however his was gun-metal with red accents, while the other Hssiss often wore varying shades of blue.
Along with Abbraxis stood Vag'har, Noxis, and Ajax - together with Sanguine, these five warriors were the Forsworn, first among men in the ranks of Darth Nexus. They were his pupils and disciples, and while none of them held the title of Sith (nor did they wish to), they were all masters of the force and held unique specialties which made them invaluable assets. They acted as field commanders in the stead of their Lord, and spoke with his voice. All were tried and true in battle, and all were unfathomably loyal to the Dark Lord- for without him, they would be nothing more than forgotten remnants of a bygone era.
The five forsworn each fell to one knee, bowing a head in reverence to their master, however Nexus did not indulge in this flattery, and was prompt to summon them to rise."Stand, for we have no time to kneel with the battle ahead. Each of you must take command of a squad of Praetorians and make your units. We will be attacking our home world - and while we have the upper hand with our knowledge of Byss, we must be ready to face the unexpected. You know your duty. Command our men, and grant us a swift, undoubtable victory. We must take back our home from these invaders, and remind them that a sleeping beast is still deadly when roused." With that, the Dark Lord lifted his left arm in the air, with his hand balled into a fist, then bellowed their mantra.
"Without order, nothing exists; without chaos, nothing evolves." The Forsworn repeated his chant in booming voices, then matched his gesture, before bringing their fists down, saluting Darth Nexus by banging the fists against their left breast plates. With the salute, each of the Forsworn made their way through the camps, gathering men - some who served in the past, others who showed promise to the particular forsworn that had come across them. In a matter of hours, units were created, and the camp began to take shape. Sanguine began orchestrating commands to build the camp in a more organized sense, allowing each unit to remain as one, versus being scattered among each other.
As Darth Nexus' camp began to take form, more and more order was seen. The vessels had repositioned themselves post landing, forming a series of concentric circles acting as barricades, with the largest ships forming the outer most circle, while gradually forming smaller circles based upon the size of the vessels. Between these circles, various tarps and make shift camps had been erected. Units had began intermingling - first and foremost was the unit designated as home guard, who would remain on Wayland to protect the base camp in the event of an outside incursion. While no one but allies knew their plans, the Dark Lord saw fit to implement this contingency in the unlikely event that a spy was amongst them. The Home Guard unit, hence forth known as Citadel Company, consisted of 250 men split into 5 platoons of 50- 225 of which were Dark Legionnaires, 20 of which were Hssiss commandos, and 5 of which were Praetorians, acting as commanders for their respective platoons.
While not as powerful as the Forsworn, the Praetorians were fierce commanders in their own right. Acting as generals of the army, they too were trained by Darth Nexus in use of the force, as well as the art of war. Each of them was a seasoned and skilled warrior, and a miraculous tactician. Much like the Sith, these ranks consisted of the strong - those who proved weak were culled, only to have another take their place. The severity of their role was not lost upon them, as they knew each battle could mean life or death should they fail in their task - and some times that death came from the Dark Lord himself. As such, they were effective, disciplined and cunning - if the Forsworn were the arteries of the Dark Lords army, these men and women would be the major veins.
Among the ranks, Praetorians began to get their houses into order - answering only to the Forsworn and Darth Nexus himself, they shaped their units for their tasks at hand. All the while, Darth Nexus had established a makeshift command center near the Arrakis, and began to set up communication equipment.
