The children watched as the door remained motionless for a few moments, before the telltale hiss of a saber cutting through metal was heard. The door fell clear of its opening, setting off some system which triggered the cage doors to open. The Jedi Padawans and Younglings cautiously emerged into freedom as the red skinned girl came into the room looking for Salen. Many of the recently freed prisoners embraced one another, checking to make sure everyone else was fine. while one of the children pointed to a cage at the far end Down the end... Most of the cages had been emptied of their occupants. However, three of them had remained within their cages. Curled up and holding themselves in balls. A casual glance at the first two might merely be put down to after effects of the Sith's meddling. What horrors they had been subjected to could only be imagined. But as Serenity approached the final cage where Salen was curled up and hiding, something within the Force started to shift. The young boy rocked back and forth, shivering They're coming... they're coming... darkness... No escape... Ashla has been forgotten... When at last she was in front of his cage, Salen's attention shot out toward her. A look of recognition wide within his eyes. But it was quickly replaced with fear It's too late...
Azshara was growing tired of the Jedi's tricks and words. She brought her blades against his. Blocking his attacks, before forcing the offensive. Striking high and low to find some crack in his guard. She might have tried to taunt him further, but something about him only seemed to grow stronger. The power of the light was a formidable foe, almost rivaling that of the dark side. And then she pulled back as she felt it Ahhhhh... At last... What once was light, has now been turned to darkness... I wonder, little Jedi... Will your apprentices belief in the light be strong enough?
Through out the facility the Force shifted as the Alliance soldiers began freeing the captive Jedi. Where most had resisted the call of the Dark Side, a small handful had succumbed to the Sith woman's torture. They leapt out of their cages, throwing attacks with the Force at the Alliance Troopers and the Thugs equally. Taking both sides by surprise. A small number of them drew lightsabers, waving the red energy blades about without proper purpose or skill.
And then, as the awakening spread out, it reached the room that Red was within. The two former Padawans leaping out of their cages. Their eyes blazing yellow as one turned to throw a Force push toward the group, while the other turned his attention upon red, his lightsaber blade snapping to life DIE JEDI SCUM!

“Move there, stand near the door, but do not leave until the you see Republic or Jedi symbols on people.” Red felt a terrible festering sense of rot and corruption, like a fouling of the spirit itself, and it hurt as real as a wound. When she beheld the ones who would not move, or Salen, who spoke a terrifying warning. Who was Ashla? Forgotten? What did that mean? And what was too late? Clamouring from outside, and the familiar snap-hiss of lightsabers told her of more deadly assailants than what already beleagured them. The tiny crimson girl had no time to consider this as one of the initially catatonic Padawans leaped upon her. Barely whirling out of the way, she activated her jetpack and flew as high as she could.
She was no match blade-for-blade, and they still had their weapons, neither could she draw on the Force like before. It was up to her and her intuition. Her years of surviving on Raxus Prime, and then Nar Shaddaa had taught her how to survive hazards that would have killed most normal people. But the circumstances were changed. She and the Alliance Troopers were being attacked by the very ones they came to rescue. This was what the Sith woman meant. She had broken them. Out of spite, out of hatred.
Yet, Red believed nothing was lost, that could not be found again.
Taking out her stun pistol, she aimed carefully and fired at the other one that attacked the rest of the Younglings and Padawans, first. Then she aimed at her own assailant, a large male Padawan, but she was already being pulled down against her will. He was drawing on the power of the Force, bringing her toward his waiting blade. “No!”
She took our her wrench and swiped at his onrushing blade as hard as she could, barely deflecting it, with Bean crying out in alarm. Desperate, she grappled him with her arms and legs, wrapping her legs around his blade arm, mindful of restraining him to the wrists, lest he bring his blade through her, but he'd impale himself in the process, the way she was splayed out against him. Her hands grabbed hold of his other arm and she was fortunately heavy enough to weigh him down, but only barely. “listen to me! You are Jedi! I'm your friend! I'm Red! Serenity Sage!”
She willed him to try and remember their friendship, the time they spent together at the Jedi Base, working shifts together, learning about each other's history. Red was a girl of very few words, but when she spoke, she made every word count. It had to mean something! No corruption could take away sense to such a state. Something had to remain under the madness, and she had to believe it would be enough to bring them back. She was not going to lose any one of these people. She was going to bring him back, whole and of sound mind, no matter what.

Rawkill was about to press forward when he also felt the shift in the Force. Bringing him to a stop as well, when he felt several more dark presences appear within the Force. A dark realization quickly dawning on him as the Sith Woman spoke of testing Serenity's faith in the light What have you done... The comm link in his left ear rang out then as the Alliance soldiers started panicking as they were attacked by the newly revealed Sith apprentices. Reports of shots fired and soldiers being downed flooded in. But thankfully the commander of the Alliance forces was reasonable and came over the line Set blasters to stun, avoid lethal force where possible... Rawkill brought his blades into a defensive stance, ready to deal justice to the Sith. But something within the Force called to him from his newly dubbed Apprentice. A sense of struggle and distress. He set his gaze on the Sith, feeling a renewed wave of energy filling him It's time for you to receive the justice you are owed! He dashed forward then, drawing further upon the Force to increase his speed. He ducked toward the right. His green and blue blades striking at the Sith Woman's left side. Her blade barely managing to parry his own, before he rolled around and behind her, feigning a strike at her right side before leaping up and over. His blades grazing down the Twi'lek woman's back. As he landed, he swiped across the back of her knees. The tip of his blade successfully met flesh. Causing her to stumble forward Return to the Force and find peace! He thrust his green blade through her chest. Bringing her life all but to an end. Withdrawing from the strike, he used the Force to assist him in leaping backward through the air. His blades deactivating as he landed and turned to head down a stairwell leading into the underground operations. He dodged and weaved around Alliance and Mercenary forces as he made his way toward Red then. Pausing for a moment in a hallway free of combat. He collected up a rifle and continued around several more corners, coming into the doorway of the room Red was grappling with a former Jedi Padawan. Setting the fire mode to stun, he took aim and fired a shot off at the Convert. The small blue ring hitting true and knocking him out, before Rawkill turned his attention to Red Are you ok?!

She smiled as he felt the shift and heard his men radio in. Even if she fell at the Jedi Masters hands now, she would still be victorious. For she had proven that even their Padawans and Younglings could be turned to the Dark Side. Perhaps it might shake their faith, or perhaps they would merely put it down to the inexperience of those turned. In any case, she had achieved the task her Master had set for her and that was all that mattered.
She set her gaze on the Ewok as he claimed she would be dealt the justice owed her. Azshara drew her blades into a ready position as he came at her. His attacks, however, came much faster and harder than before. She had apparently managed to find his breaking point as he dashed around her. She felt the slice of his blades across the back of her legs then. Causing her to fall to her knees. And then... The green blade sprouted from her chest.
She slumped in place, as she felt her life draining away as the Jedi left her alone to die. Her saber hilts clattered upon the ground as she lifted her gaze to a doorway, as a ghostly projection of her Master appeared M-Master... I've... Done it...
Gooood... I believed you would be capable... Now rest... And know that your sacrifice was not in vain. Thank you, Azshara...
Yes... My Master... As the man's form disappeared, her eyes closed over and she fell to the ground. Disappearing into the air as her essence was returned to the Force
It all happened in a rush. One moment he had his blade pointed at the red skinned Jedi, ready to run her through with his saber as she was pulled through the air toward him. Then, somehow, she had managed to knock his blade aside with her wrench and knocked him over. Pinning him to the ground as she grappled his chest and arms Get.... Off.... ME! He tried to squirm free, kicking his legs into the air to try gain some leverage, but found none. He tried his hardest to twist his hand around to strike at her with his saber as she tried to reason with him No... No... no... no! NO! NO! ARGH!!!! He fell limp for a moment, his head falling to the side as he seemed to pass out. The boy groggily opened his eyes as he lifted his gaze to meet Red's as she willed him to remember her Re... Red? No... no... The boy could feel himself losing control once again, his thumb about to depress the activator switch on the lightsaber to skewer himself and Red. And then the world went black as a blue ring of energy touched his forehead, causing the hilt to fall free of his hand before any dark fate could befall the pair...

Red's strength was sapping fast, and the young man in her grip was bigger and far stronger than her. Yet, through sheer force of will, she maintained her grip and struggled to keep him pinned. It was an almost hopeless battle when suddenly, he went limp, and he called her by name. She felt elation in her heart, but then she felt the darkness taking over once more, and just then, like a weight and shadow lifting off her, and then with the arrival of Rawkill, Red knew that the Sith was beaten...somewhat.
It was an odd sensation that she got from the esteemed Jedi Master.
She rolled away at the last second to avoid getting caught in the stun blast, and when she straightened up, she answered the Ewok, “Yes, Master. But master...”
She felt an odd sensation once more when she looked at the Ewok, as if there were a touch of the darkness around him, or in him. But she was probably imagining things. Before she could say anything else, the thrum of the ship, signalled that they had a landing zone to get to, and students in need of rescue and transportation. “Our ship's here...”

Rawkill placed the weapon down as the boy passed into unconsciousness and Red confirmed she was ok. He sensed her hesitation in that moment. A thought upon her mind no doubt and one he intended to address as several Alliance soldiers showed up to escort the newly freed Padawans and Younglings to the ship. He motioned to the two unconscious boys Handle them with care. They were turned... The soldiers nodded with understanding, before collecting the pair and carrying them out. Rawkill moved closer to Red and looked up to meet her gaze as he took her hand in his paw You feel it... don't you... death is a natural part of life. But to take another's life, no matter how justified or righteous the reasoning, is no easy thing. It lingers upon you for a time... Let me give you a piece of advice: Do not ignore your feelings. Acknowledge them, and work through them. Otherwise they will consume you... Do you understand?

She looked down at Rawkill's paw which held her small hands, and she listened to what he had to say, and she realized clearly for certain...confirmed rather, that the Ewok had indeed slain the Sith woman. She felt a sense of sorrow, even pity, despite the horrors that she inflicted on the Younglings and Padawans. She could barely fathom the depths of the Force. It had barely been a few months since she'd actually believed the Jedi could eat souls or steals children from cribs at night.
“Yes,” said Red, “I understand, master.”
As the last of the rescuees and the injured were loaded onto the ships, Red noticed Salen almost stumbling on his own, and she quickly darted out to assist him, “I've got you, Salen,” she said, and slung his arm over her shoulder. Him, she would bring personally to his sister. It was a victory, and yet, it did not quite feel like one. These poor Younglings and Padawans had a long road of recovery ahead of them, some likely would never be the same ever again, after all they had witnessed. She sighed as she settled down on a bench beside her friend, and she watched for the Ewok master.
“This is only the beginning, isn't it?” She asked no one in particular.

He gave a nod, before letting her hand go as the last of the survivors were loaded on to the transports. His gaze drifted up to the Pelta-class Frigate that hung in the air. The Hammer sat in watch, ready to unload its payload upon the warehouse should the order be called to do so. Rawkill let his gaze fall back down to Red as she escorted Salen into the ship. He took a seat on a bench opposite the girl. Giving a solemn nod The ending of one story is the beginning of another... Just as this dark tale ends, a story of hope begins... Many challenges still lay ahead Padawan. We must prepare ourselves for them... The transports took off into the air then, docking with The Hammer a few moments later. A single low powered round was fire into the warehouse then. The complex was wrought in flames for a moment as the room collapsed in on itself, before the walls gave way into the crater. The engines of The Hammer roared to life then, pushing the Frigate up through the atmosphere and into Orbit

...
Everywhere there were aliens of all species laughing and drinking, fast music played throughout and the dancefloor was filled with people having fun and a few others that had no choice but to dance. Overlooking the floor was an ornate dias, filled with mostly female aliens and one large hutt laughing and enjoying the company. Auri stopped and waited for Patrick to catch up, her breathing steadying a little from the full strop that she had just had, but her mood was not as happy as anyone currently in the bar. “Welcome to the best nightclub this side of Coruscant. Don’t let them rip you off at the bar though, they’ll try it on.” She pointed to the hutt in front of them. “And that there is my master, Kojja. Don’t upset him, he has eaten a pilot before.” Taking one last steading deep breath she walked over to Kojja as Patrick disappeared into the crowded bar queue. The deep breath was also to avoid having to breath as much when she was nearer to Kojja; his breath was, similar to all Hutts, reminiscent of a Nerf's behind after a particularly spicy gungan stew. [[Ahhh Auri]] He spoke Huttese with a deep boom that you would feel vibrate through you. [[It's been too long, I have missed my most beautiful child. Come closer, I wish to see you in the light, not hidden in shadows.]]Holding back the sigh, Auri approached and did her best to fake a charmed smile, even as she tried to ignore the stench. If she was honest, other than the smell she had no issues with Kojja, he had always been fair with her, kept his promises and treated her with more respect than other Hutts often showed their employees. If it hadn't been for him she could have been still living as a slave, rather than her relative freedoms to roam the galaxy."Kojja, I'm sorry for the last job, I did everything I was supposed to do, but then I was ambushed!"[[Shush child, Rordan has been teasing again I see, I'll have words. You I am not angry with. You did as you were supposed to. We are still unsure as to whether it was your target or your employer that attacked you, if it was the former you were unlucky, if it was the latter then they were fools. No one hires and then tries to kill my people. We will investigate. Anyway, enough of the past, you made it home and now I have something I need doing. How do you fancy a bit of detective work of your own? I have been asked to track down some smugglers, it has a very large bounty attached and I need all my children on this. I was hoping you could use some of your...]] He smiled and his huge tongue licked his lips [[talents to find out where they might be in the galaxy. What do you think Auri?]]"Sure, I guess. I can see if I can find out anything. Who are they?"Kojja waved a stubby arm at a droid nearby, he burst to life with a series of beeps and whistles, a few moments later it was beaming the holographic images of various men and women at the floor in front of Auri, their names appearing above their heads. As suddenly as they had appeared, the projections stopped with another wave of Kojja's arm. "I'll see what I can find out for you, I found a pilot, can he come with me?"[[No, leave him here, I'll find him work if he wants it. For this I don't want anyone I haven't vetted to be involved, it is important that we are discreet Auri. I'll provide you with a ship, you know I will always help you with things like that, you just need to ask.]]"And have it added to my debts to pay off?" She couldn't hold back the sharp remark, but things were rarely free with Hutts and Kojja wasn't an exception.[[This time there will be no charge, and in future talk to me, I like you Auri and not just because you make me creds. I didn't purchase you to make a profit, or set you free for that reason either, enough now, we will talk properly next time you are home. Find these smugglers and I'll let you have Rordan as a slave for a week.]] His laugh boomed around the room, Auri didn't wait for any further dismissal or bother going to seek out Patrick, she had taken the hint that she wasn't to worry him with anything. Instead she headed straight out the door and made for the shuttle that would take her to Kojja's hangars on the edge of New Vertica. Hopefully she had a decent ship waiting. Rordan moved silently next to the Hutt, placing his fingertips together and quietly whispering to his master. "You left off the Firrerreo from the projections."[[Sometimes it is better to let people believe they have nothing to live for. Auri is all alone in this galaxy, let her cling to us with that belief.]]

The months had passed on Kuat until it seemed nothing remained. Bounties had begun to dwindle to nothing and requests from government officials and law enforcement all but disappeared. Time was money and for each day spent simply walking around waiting were days credits were used but never gained. With that, Rioux knew it was time to take his leave. But the major question was where to? So many planets had issues that needed to be solved so he could always find something on any planet he visited, however, he didn't need to waste his time with trivial matters. He had to find something that could bring big money and could come in fairly regularly.
With that thought came a few select worlds. The Hutt controlled systems such as Nal Hutta and, better yet, Nar Shaddaa were great places where there was always someone somewhere getting into trouble that brought work to his kind. And to make his current situation more fortuitous, word had spread of the Great Hunt. A fair number of hunters from all walks of life had joined up, though many still chose not to be involved. Be it due to the lack of money gained from it, the empty desire, or even not feeling up for the challenge it brought, many a merc and hunter simply chose to watch the event unfold. Nal Hutta and Nar Shaddaa were good places to come and watch since it was Zordo the Hutt working to put it on beside the Mandalorian leader. Rioux, himself, had debated entering, but without a ship of his own, he had opted out. Just another reason coming here was a good choice. Finding a good ship for a good price was better here. Some might have disagreed, but he had a good feeling.
Moving down the streets, Rioux looked around as people went about there daily lives. He took notice of the hunters that sat about in open areas, watching news feeds, waiting for the start of the Hunt. For all their gear, Rioux still seemed more intimidating, if only for his large muscular size. Many gave him hard glances, both in being cold to an unknown outsider and judging him for his lack of gear. All he carried on him currently was a single custom gun and a chitin lightsaber hilt. His only other possession was his chitin armor he left back at the room he rented.
He paid them no mind, however, as he moved about the streets to take in the sights and find a nice bar to relax in to watch the start of the Hunt as well as to search for any bounty posting he could start with.

She stood waiting at the shuttle stop, her hands dug deep in the pockets of her cargo pants as she gazed aimlessly up the street. It took her a few moments to notice the number of people carrying quite large blasters was a little higher than normal. Her mind was so fixed on remembering te smuggler's names and faces it wasn't ready to process the bounty hunters that seemed to suddenly be filling her homeworld. Even for Nar Shaddaa this was overkill and for so many to be wearing Mandalorian armour was a little intimidating. Looking around for a friendly face she momentarily forgot this was a hutt world and faces were not normally known for being friendly so instead she spoke to a nearby tired looking twi'lek in a slave collar.
"What's going on? Why all the mercs? Have we been invaded?"
The twi'lek laughed, his mouth twisting unpleasantly at the effort. "No Goldie, there's some kind of Hunt event been called. Guess the Hutts and Mandos are bored. At least they've been a bit civilised this time, normally when they get bored they drink too much and invade Coruscant."
It was Auri's time to laugh, "Oh the night is still young, I'm sure a government will fall before morning. Either that or they'll all start fighting over that weird helm that they all think is so important. For a group of fighters they do love politics!" Standing up straighter, Auri wondered if there might be some easy creds to be made tonight, she knew that Kojja would see her account was topped up, but he had never believed in being generous with his wealth and she'd need to aquire more at some point and all these men around, drinking too much and bored with the waiting could be some entertainment at least. It wasn't like her job had a rushed deadline, or even a definite lead so why not spend a few hours getting the local intelligence (or lack of it) here at home first. Nodding at the twi'lek, she moved purposefully up the street, casting her eyes over all the newcomers and flashing her predatory smile at a few of the more interested males that glanced her way. If there was to be a Hunt first she was going to pick off the easier prey, from a nearby bar she heard the familiar roar of drunken and hot headed men, always a recipe for trouble and rich rewards. Stepping through the doors, she had to duck immediately as a cup came flying her way, smashing into the wall behind her and spraying it with ale. A few moments later a blur of people appeared, one of which was quickly ejected from through the door and stumbled into the street where he fell and failed to get back up.
One of the other men nearby detached himself from the group, his armour told his business and he smiled at her holding out his hand gallantly.
"I'm so sorry, I hope you weren't hurt, may I buy you a drink." He stepped closer, Auri could smell the thick alcohol scent on his breath and saw the slight unfocused glaze in his eyes, he wasn't many drinks away from acting like a fool so she thought it would be a good start to help him feel like one in the morning.
"Oh, that does sound like a lovely offer, I'd be pleased to join you if you don't mind the company." She batted her eyelashes and with a free hand pushed her hair back from her face, her eyes not leaving his for a few seconds before coyly flickering them away.
"I think the company would be very pleasant indeed." Smiling to his friends at his newly acquired trophy he guided Auri to a seat near the bar, and snapping his fingers to call for drinks he sat down as close to her as he could. Auri grinned inside, the night was definitely going to be a profitable one.

The minutes ticked by as Rioux took in the sights, something that brought forth an interest in the depths this place had to offer. The lights, the sounds, an atmosphere far different than that of Kuat. On one side, it'd prove to be entertaining, yet, the other side spoke of caution and disgust. Perhaps it was the Jedi that lingered within him that carried such distaste for this type of place and all it encompassed.
It was a thought that moved swiftly through his mind as his attention was directed to the familiar ruckus. In his momentary distraction, fate, it seemed, chose his location to drink. It only brought a smirk to his face as he made his way inside. Immediately, he took a moment to look around, noting the vast difference of standards compared to his usual meeting places. When one thought of a bar, this was the scene that should have played out. Active, rowdy, maybe even a bit dirty. A good place for some fool to become wasted and talk too much. He could already see that several patrons had already gone beyond their limits.
He began to move away from the door when he felt someone bump him from behind. His size barely allowed him to move, almost as if hitting a wall. Turning, he saw a man in Mando armor stumbling a bit before turning his gaze upward towards the Mirialan. The very moment Rioux had turned to fully face the man, the typical drunken threat and challenge slipped off the hunter's tongue.
"You got a problem, guy? Cause I say you found trouble." There came no time for a response as the man threw back a fist to slug Rioux. However, in his state, the man's punch met his chest that seemingly had no effect.
Looking down at where the fist made impact, he only gave a sigh before turning his gaze back to the man, the gold orb that served as his right reflecting the light around him. So easy would it have been to just throw the man into the streets or to lay him out. But that would have only granted him unwanted attention and all he wanted was a quiet drink. Reaching out, he gripped the man's neck though, lifting him off the ground and pulled him close in an act of intimidation before carrying him back over to his table and setting him down in an open chair. "How about you sit down instead and go back to your business. I just want a quiet drink." Stepping back, he reached into a small pouch on his belt and tossed a few credits onto the table. "Buy yourself a few rounds on me."
The gesture seemed to work more than enough as the Mandalorian seemed to completely forget he had just been manhandled as he ordered a few more shots. Moving away, he found a corner that was a bit more secluded and ordered a bottle of Corellian Whiskey. Sitting back in the chair, he removed a datapad and set it on the table as he flipped through some bounty postings. Occasionally, he looked around and tried to listen in, see if there was any information of worth. For the most part, it was personal, casual, or relatively well-known knowledge. He did notice those select few who were being escorted for the night and couldn't help but laugh a bit. If there was one thing he couldn't understand was why men felt the need to waste money for a single night with someone. Perhaps that was all they could get but who really knew?

The beauty of men like this was that they didn't really want to talk, they wanted to brag and Auri had perfected the art of looking interested and asking the most flattering of questions without actually needing to engage even half her brain into the conversation. So as he told her about every kill he had ever made in such shocking detail that Auri didn't think for one second he had actually been there but instead watched far too many bad films on the holonet she was already casting her eyes around for the next possible target; her eyes cast curiously over a male with a datapad but she cast him out as prey because he seemed too interested in actual work than drinking and making a fool of himself.
"...So gorgeous, how can I get some time alone with you? I've caught many prey, but none as exotic and rare as you." The Merc's eyes glinted, and Auri forced hers not to role but instead they closed slowly like a cats before reopening with a flash, focused intently on him. She noticed his gaze was just glassy enough to show her that he had drunk more than he could really handle, he'd made it almost too easy.
"Oh I don't like to come too easy, or cheap, you got the creds...?" Her voice was barely a whisper, more of a purr, and the Merc leaned closer to listen. "Slip me the creds under the table and I'll take you to a lovely place nearby." She didn't break his eye contact, not even looking at his drink as her hand gently brushed along the rim while the other one exchanged the creds under the table. She didn't want to upset him by letting anyone see how easily he was being robbed. Grinning, her long teeth flashing in the low lit bar, she leaned back in her chair, raising her glass. "Drink up, it's time to go."
She watched him laugh as he grabbed him drink and downed it, before he even had the chance to push back in his chair to get up his head came crashing down on the table and he lay there out cold. Her mouth contorted into an apologetic grimace, before she pushed away from the table and headed to the bar. He'd be ok, just a bit of a sore head and an empty wallet in the morning.

Giving a sigh, he deactivated the datapad and slid it away from him a bit. There were more than enough bounties sitting around waiting to be gathered on the moon alone. However, none of them stood out to him enough with the mark, nor the reward to warrant his focus for the time being. Soon enough, he'd get around to hitting a couple. But for now, unless something more interesting came up, it was best to just sit back and relax. The trip from Kuat was a bit tiring, especially listening to those aboard the transport. If didn't have the patience and morals he did, it would have been likely that he'd be dumping the craft to hide the corpses of the crew.
Leaning back, he took a swig of the bottle that had been brought to him and looked around some more, deciding that it didn't hurt to find some entertainment if only from the embarrassment the others made for themselves. He took notice of what he considered one of the many escorts sitting with another merc. Out of all the women within the bar, she certainly stood out, even from the distance they sat from each other. He laughed a bit, considering the guy more on the lucky side before turning back to his drink. It wasn't even a minute later that he heard the sound of something. Turning back, he noticed the same guy was now out cold on the table and the woman was getting up and walking away.
Curious, he turned his chair to fully examine the situation. It was far from an uncommon sight to watch men pass out at the bar. It was just as regular for escorts to leave such men the moment they were out. Most times, they were paid up front so all in all, it just made the night that much easier and could mean making more money from another possible client. A final option was that the woman had drugged him and possibly robbed him, maybe by playing the escort card. Whatever the case, the most likely option ended with him more than likely losing some money. His eyes then shifted back to the blonde-haired woman, her hair and skin glimmering in a golden hue. In the light of the bar, she had an exotic look to her which brought a smirk to his face. Part of him wanted to interact with her if only to see what game she was playing while another side of him wanted to see who else got duped before the night was over.
Checking his pouch, he made sure none of his credits had gone missing should any other girl had decided to slip by as well as to hold an actual count. For the moment, he decided to hang back a see if anyone else approached her before he did, knocking back another swig from the bottle in the process.

Taking a seat by the bar, Auri indicated to the barman for another drink, it wasn't her first time at this bar and as in most cities of the galaxy the barman understood the sign to make the most extravagant looking cocktail but forget to add any alcohol. It worked well for them as they would charge the gentlemen buying the price of the real thing. Glancing to the side she tried to make eye contact with a man standing on his own, but he gave her the quickest glance and then looked away, she caught the glimmer of a ring on his finger and quietly admired his strength, in a bar of preening peacocks there was a man that was here for an actual job and had actual responsibilities. No matter how drunk he got tonight she wouldn't be trying to take anything from him, she had a line and only occasionally crossed it, usually for a lot of creds.
Sighing she sat back and started to chat with the barman, perhaps fate would intercede and she would find another target tonight, if not she'd made enough to keep her going for a few days of her actual job.
"Heard where there might be some smugglers hiding out?" It was worth a punt, never know they might well be hiding in New Vertica.
The barman shrugged, placing her drink in front of her, "Not heard anything, most smugglers still favour hanging on the Rims outer edges, they tend to attract the least attention, I'd try somewhere that way. "
Auri nodded her thanks and slipped the bartender an extra cred as a tip, she had just rendered a client of his unconscious and he was being very understanding about it. Playing with her drink she coyly eyed the others in the bar waiting for another target or boredom to strike. One or the other would win over soon enough.

Waiting for a few minutes, Rioux saw that none attempted to approach the woman at the bar. She seemed to show interest in a possible few, but for whatever reason, didn't move. Perhaps they didn't fit her preference.
Giving an inward shrug, he pushed himself to his feet, grabbing his datapad and bottle as he made his way to the bar. Taking another swig, and replacing his datapad in his pouch before he made it there. Standing just off to the side, he gave her a bit of a smile as he looked to the chair next to her. While he could be somewhat charming from time to time, it wasn't his strongest trait. Perhaps it was the golden orb that replaced his right eye. That usually tended to unnerve the occasional few. "This seat taken?"

Auri blinked, a little surprised at the male with the datapad suddenly appearing next to her, she tried to regain her composure as her head registered how wrong she had read him. Switching on the automatic smile that seemed so genuine after so many years of practice and perhaps had become so given that she actually did like meeting new people, she gestured with her free hand.
"Sure sugar, always like to keep a free space for making friends, please sit down and maybe I can buy you a drink?" She still wondered what he was looking for, she still wasn't sure that he was her usual type of prey and that could make him a tricky one to fool. She didn't want to bring trouble in a room of Mercs, who knew how many of these guys owed him a favour and would come blaster first if he caught her out. Casting a glance up and down, a friendly approach seemed the best course of action, at least even if the pay off wasn't going to be coming through she might glean some information that would be useful later. "So Bantha in the room time, what happened to your eye and does it do anything cool?" She flicked a cred at the barman indicating to get him whatever he was drinking, not caring whether she appeared rude for asking she wasn't one for caring what others thought of her most of the time.

With the invitation offered, he took a seat next to her. His bottle finished, he went ahead and order a final shot of whiskey as he didn't want to be rude for the offer of a drink. He watched the barman fill the glass and walk away. When he did, he turned to the woman and the question asked of him. He gave a small chuckle and a smile. "That's quite the question right off the bat. Most people usually wait until halfway through the conversation, at least." Turning around fully to face the room, he leaned back on the bar. "We all make mistakes sometimes and some come with a pretty hefty cost. It was probably my third or fourth job as a merc. Got a little too overconfident and, against my crew leader's suggestion, got too close to our target. Took a slash from a knife right up from my cheek to my forehead which, as I'm sure you can imagine, sliced through my eye. Due to the need to get it out and taken care of before it became a serious problem, they went with what they had. Safe enough, but no it doesn't do anything. Never got around to getting a cybernetic eye."
Of course, this was the lie of it all. He had gotten it replaced for what he had, which allowed him to scan the biometrics of those around him and lock on to it for a short time. It was his trick to finding people even after they got away. Even more, was its connection to his gun. With the sights raised, he could see what it saw, allowing him to shot from any direction without looking. But it was a secret he told no one, letting it be his little advantage over everyone. After so many times telling the same story, it had become natural with nearly everyone believing it was just a gold orb with only a few guessing otherwise.
"So, you know a bit about me. How about yourself? What brings you here? Just looking to make money off of drunken morons or something bigger?"

Sipping her drink slowly, her eyes lingered on his gold eye, her nictitating membrane slipped across and his eye turned from gold to bright bursts of blue light. It was generating energy, but what that energy did she couldn't tell. Allowing the transparent eyelid to return, she flicked her own golden eyes across the rest of him, judging as to whether the story he'd told seemed true. If it wasn't it was well rehearsed and she decided that she had no reason to care if he was lying to her about how it happened. She would have her own lies to tell too.
She leaned in close, careful to whisper into his ear. "What makes you think I'm here for making money off the Mandomorons?" Her voice was too low for anyone else to hear, she wasn't going to be the centre of a bar fight quite so early in the evening. She sat back and swivelled on the seat to look at the table where the merc was still lying unconscious, "I have no idea what happened to him, I must have been quite the dullest company ever for him to just fall asleep like that. Such a shame if it turns out that he was robbed too." She smirked, she wouldn't be able to play the same trick on this Mirialan. "I'm Auri, by the way. I actually live on this rock, but I was going to head offworld soon, I'm looking for some work with a smuggling group I've been told are really good. Hoping to hook up with them, earn some serious cred and not just this piece work pittance. Not heard of any smugglers on your travels? Need to find out where they might be hiding out."

Rioux let his head drop as he felt her move closer and whisper in his ear. Unable to hide a smirk, he let his eye shift over to her. "Whatever you say. Still, if these guys who think so much of themselves can let down their guard enough once they've had a few drinks to be robbed, well, that's their problem." Just as she did, he kept his voiced hushed enough to avoid being picked up by those near-by. He didn't want trouble any more than she did and if she was ripping them off, then it was their problem to deal with and theirs alone.
When she began speaking normally again, she gave him her name and what she was looking to do. "Auri, huh? Nice name. I'm Rioux. Don't ask where it came from. Guess the mercs I started with thought my real name didn't sound badass enough. After a while, it stuck. But I can't say I've heard anything about any smuggler groups. Spent quite a bit of time on Kuat. Only just got here, myself. Heard about this Great Hunt and figured now was as good a time as any to get a change of scenery. Shame such a place is your home, though. I think you would have fit in nicely on Kuat. Well, outside of all the Imperials, anyway."
