Or perhaps both, depending on whether it is homeland intelligence or foreign intelligence? I suppose that makes sense.

Sorry for not being around to post caught up in RL and getting another character settled, Utapau was not in the GR before jedivsith.com went down so does it have to be voted in? If so, I am free just about whenever to do said RP.

I think we just included intelligence under the military committee, which you're welcome to be a part of, even as the Jedi rep.

We could say it had joined during the break.

I'll have my NPC Senator Georj on the Military Committee as an intermediary between the Senate and the intelligence services, if no one minds. A bit like the role Ralph Fiennes' character has in Skyfall, or, if you are well read, like Oliver Lacon in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
If everyone doesn't mind.

Dude, right now as far as I can tell, Chilbar and I are the only carry overs (unless Nidawi returns), so we'd gladly have you aboard.

Dav I posted for you.
Crom'nen I hate to break it to you, but if Nidawi doesn't show, you're the only one qualified, IC and OCC, to accept the role of Chancellor. I think you're it by default mate. I don't have the experience necessary to try and organize, much less run, a faction, even one as laid back as the GR.

We could say it had joined during the break. Sounds good to me, I will get a post up for the senate office soon.

Cihlbar is qualified IC and I am def OOC, but alas, I pose a slight conflict of interest. I have been writing with the GR since before it was the GR, even before Crom'nen. But i have accepted a seat on the Jedi High Council, which would provide a bias.
I would say i would do it, but it would seem selfish to be leading the two biggest good side factions on the site. I will always be supporting the GR as i have the whole tune. I just don't think i am the best candidate.

And Nidawi is actually VC with the senator from Corellia being Chancellor. Both have failed to surface, and Cihlbar is the senior most senator.

For me, the concern would be less that you have a conflict of interest, and more about your sanity! One galaxy wide organisation of goodguys and badasses is enough.

Oi!
I'd be more than willing to help out the Republic, if their willing to allow Vandelhelm to join the GR. I already do huge amounts of political RP, and it would thrill me to help out one of my favorite factions in canon.

Sure. Why not. The thing is, we need to solidy this group as an organization with defined roles, goals and responsibilities.
With goals, comes responsibilities, comes actions, comes good RPs.
Dav, you think there is a way to spill the Mando Holy War into the perogative of the Galactic Republic? All jedi planets are theoretically Galactic Republic member systems. With all the collateral damage that Mandos cause, whether they are targeting Jedi or not, makes the Mandalorian Empire in open conflict with the Republic.
Also, there is a treasonous uprising IC at Mon Calamari (again) where Quarren terrorists are demanding secession from the Republic, OOC we know it is a plot by the Sith and the Second Imperium (Kel and kids) to dismantle the key Republic assets in order to weaken the Republic and theoretically strike at the Republic. The jedi can discover this plot, inform the Republic and boom-- bigger extended RPs with Sith,Imperials,Mandalorians peppered with already on going assassination subplots, deceit, lies, politicking and all the good guiles that make political stories so much fun. . . .except sec, we need more sex in the Senate. All in favor? :-P

Aye... I can have Jon T. Harkness pay a visit and start a bunga bunga party, if you like. It's how the Italians do it.... Mando Holy War; definitely a talking point in the Senate, I should think. As it stands, the only people directly attacked are the Jedi on Yavin, though as things unfold, they are going to attack Republic worlds as well. And at some point, the Mandalorians are going to offer the Republic more or less the same deal the Yuuzhan Vong offered IC; hand over the Jedi and no more innocent lives will be hurt. Don (Jago) and I both have Republic Intelligence Service operatives that we're going to work in to a few RPs, so they're probably going to be the first port of call. And if one of the High Council - probably someone who isn't trapped behind a Mandalorian Siege - went to the Senate to petition for some support for the Jedi, then that also will probably make for a good RP. For now, the strategic advice Dav would have given the Council would have been something along the lines of "Yavin can manage for a while. Prepare to defend other worlds. The Mandos aren't going to stop here", but eventually, it will - I hope - be a combined fleet of Republic ships, the escaped ships from Yavin, and a few Yavin ships that were "out on other missions", and maybe some other allies, that breaks the Mando siege of Yavin IV. But that's a while away IC and will definitely come after other battles and other Mando victories or defeats. On that note; from an OOC perspective, we could certainly use a few other worlds the Mandos could gain some victories over. A world that they take entirely would be very nice, as it'll make for a good battle later on when the Jedi and the Republic re-take it, and we could get some nifty underground viva le resistance stuff going on in between. Plus, you know, bureaucratic bickering and stuff.

It will also be good if their was a plurality of anit-jedi among the Senate to make things interesting.
And I guess that would make me the representative for the High Council and plea for support from the Senate.
Is there smaller RPs going on at Republic worlds that may be perceived as a concern worth reporting? Treason? Dissidence? Civil War? Regime change?
Also, do we still have the Hapans? They are a political and powerful canon ally.
Sound off.

Technically, we still have the Hapans I believe, but we've never used them. Ever.
If you want someone anti-Jedi, Crom'nen can subtly plant those seeds. As soon as he returns.

I'm still here, and I'm lurking, but I don't have time to be Chancellor right now.
I used to NPC the Hapans, but I was looking for someone to take them over when the site crashed. If anyone wants to RP them, now's your chance.

Shall we find an IC reason why Dmitri steps down, then?
How about ill health? Then later there's a story in there, where we can discover his ill health is actually down to poisoning or a Sith curse of some kind, in a deliberate effort to remove him from his post?
