"Prejudice is, and always will be I fear, hard to shake. My own species is dark skinned and dark haired and dark eyed without exception - born a mutant, I have witnessed first hand how cruel sentients can be. Ah, there she is." Reading the text sent to him discreetly, Dand made his way towards the pod area, finding the two more or less in right sorts. "Naana is it? I found your grandfather...I doubt your in too much trouble, but you gave him a good scare."

Mary jerked back from the reaching hand, but before she could react further it was withdrawn. A moment later Dandy appeared. She didn't bother translating the much larger man's words, as the content would be obvious to anyone with eyes. Guesturing toward the ladder back up into the room with the others, Mary waited for the child to climb out of the small access pit first.
-Mary (in Tusken) After you little one.

-Kar'Orzh- "We must continue our fight for acceptance, though. The hardships will only continue until they have been overcome. You just have to be strong enough to endure until that moment arrives."
Naan heard her grandfather's voice and jumped part-way up the ladder and scrambled up. As soon as her feet hit the next deck the small Tusken girl ran to embrace Kar'Orzh, who knelt down and wrapped his arms around her tightly in return.
-Naan in Tusken- "Grandfather! I'm sorry I ran away. I just wanted to see the stars, like you said we would...I thought I could hide on a ship and see the Universe and come back with the knowledge of the Outsiders to help our clan. I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
-Kar'Orzh in Tusken- "Kr'Naan'Kar'R'Crurak you must never run off like that. You were close to giving me a heart attack. It is lucky you picked a ship with such nice people on it. You must be extremely careful when we are away from home. You do not know who could have been on this ship. I am just glad you are safe, little one."
Kar'Orzh stood up and put his hand on Naan's head, bowing to Mary and Dandleion deeply.
-Kar'Orzh- "I am deeply grateful to both of you. My granddaughter can be quite a handful because of her curiosity, but we try not to hinder it too much. After all, without curiosity how would learn?"
Naan held onto her grandfather's sleeve and remained silent, with her other hand she went back to flipping through pictures on her datapad.

Dand smiled easily, and gesture widely. "Of course. But after all, curiosity belongs to the young - and drives them ever forward. I myself was much like at her age. I could learn a lesson in her enthusiasm." Eyeing Mary, Dand tried to take stock of how she had dealt with the wayward child. The child had somehow ended up in the pod, and he couldn't see if there were tears on the girls face - even now, she only radiated curiosity, and the grandfather relief. Shaking his head, Dand gestured once more. "If there is anything else we can do for you, please, don't hesitate to ask."

Joining the others on the deck, Mary closed the hatch using the Force.
-Mary (in Tusken) Even so, she came close to death today. Your Grandfather is right, you should be more cautious.
Taking a moment to obviously focus on the child, Mary gave her statement a second to sink in. Then she turned back to focus on the adult. She didn't have much information, but her search had provided a single paragraph summery of the race.
-Mary That being said, it seems as if your people would learn more quickly from having members traveling with those not of your clan.

Kar'Orzh chuckled lightly after Dandleion spoke, shaking his head.
-Kar'Orzh- "It was curiosity that got the R'Crurak here, to this planet, and it is curiosity that will help see us spread throughout the stars. If curiosity is truly for the young, then nothing would advance."
Kar'Orzh turned his gaze to the woman before him, and bowed his head in agreement. He looked down at Naan and rubbed his hand on top of her head. She did not seem to be phased, as she had moved onto pictures of birds and small insects on her datapad.
-Kar'Orzh- "That is true. Each time we have made friends with Outsiders our clan has grown immeasurable from the experience. You are the first Outsider she has met. She may be human in body, but she is Tusken in soul. Our way is all she has ever known. Still, she is but a child. Her Trial has not yet been overcome. Ultimately the choice falls to me as her only living relative."
Naan tugged at her grandfather's sleeves and held up the datapad to him, which had a video of a bird flying through the sky of a single sun planet.
-Naan in Tusken- "Grandfather I need to see the Universe. I want to visit other planets. Think of what I could learn, for the clan. For our people."
Kar'Orzh patted Naan on the head.
-Kar'Orzh in Tusken- "Stowing away on a ship with no food or money is not the right way to go off exploring, Naan. We do not have the best reputation in the Galaxy. A thousand things could happen to you if you were to leave unprepared. That is why we have our own ship, with supplies and everything we need."
Kar'Orzh bowed his head once more to both Dandleion and Mary.
-Kar'Orzh- "You owe me nothing. It is I who owe you. I am eternally grateful for you returning my granddaughter. If there is anything I can do for you, please, it would be my pleasure."

"But of course. I'm happy we resolved this so easily." Said Dand, with a small bow. Turning to Mary, he smiled slightly, amused. "And you, my Padawan? What did you learn of the Tusken child?" Inwardly, Dand's mind churned over the case of the Twi'lek. Such a young being, such a tragic case - and here, before them, another child. It only served to deepen Dand's sadness. It struck too close to home far Dand - far too much like the loss of his own children. They had assigned them the case based on Dand's prior investigative experience...but...was not the risk great? Mary was potentially unstable. Her master, too, was not in the best shape mentally. Time would tell.

As Kar'Orzh turned to leave the ship, Naan let go of her grandfather's sleeve and ran to Dandleion, point once again to her datapad filled with pictures of other worlds. It was her dream and she was not about to leave her opportunity without a fight. Her voice stammered as she pleaded her case in the best way a child could.
-Naan in Tusken- "Please, sir. Let me go with you, I can take care of myself, so you won't have to worry about me, I promise. I know how to fight if we get into trouble."
Kar'Orzh stopped and turned back to Naan, sighing heavily and speaking out to his grandchild. His patience was immense, but even she was beginning to test it.
-Kar'Orzh- "Naan my child, it is time to go. Say goodbye to the Outsiders."
Naan looked up into Dandleion's eyes, her own shielded by her mask, and then lowered her head in disappointment as she turned back to be with her grandfather.

Mary watched Dandy talking down to the child. For a Jedi he sure had the condescending part down.
-Titana Of course, to a Jedi that is nearly as standard issue as a lightsabre.
From the look on his face, Mary was beginning to wonder if he didn't think she was much younger than in truth she was.
-Mary I learned that holonet is a wonderful place, but I've know that since I was 16. I also learned that she fits nicely in the pod cockpit.
Mary shrugged.
-Mary The kid only want to see a bit more of the universe. We were planing on going shopping before we deal with a small errand in the capital. I don't suppose it would hurt anything to have her tag along to see a bit more of this world. From the spacers I used to work with, most never see more than the spaceports of the planets they visit. You are free to join us a well, if you aren't busy.
While she didn't show it, that was more than Mary had said at one time in quite a while.

Naan turned her head to Mary and sprinted towards her, stopping in front of the woman and hopping up and down in front of her in excitement.
-Naan in Tusken- "Do you mean it! Really? I've never been in a city before! Thank you so much, lady! Grandfather, can I go? Please? I promise to behave!"
Underneath his mask Kar'Orzh raised an eyebrow at Mary's words. If they were only taking a trip into the city on this world he felt he could trust a Jedi Master and his Padawan. Both of his parents had spoken highly of the Jedi when he was little, before he had been taken in by the R'Crurak clan. He remembered laying in bed and being told many stories about their kindness and generosity. He sighed and finally gave in to his granddaughter. What was a grandparent's role in any culture but to spoil their grandchildren? Kar'Orzh moved his hand behind his head and rubbed the back of his mask.
-Kar'Orzh- "At this point I believe it is up to the owners' of this fine ship."
Naan looked up to Mary once more and then over to Dandleion and stood perfectly still, trying to look responsible and not at all a handful.

The Light cruiser “Zephyr” made a text-book landing on one of the larger landing pads on the base. The landing was text-book because Master Nemo had the auto-pilot on the whole way down from orbit. Nemo was a great many things, a pilot was not one. The boarding ramp hissed and clicked into action and almost before it was fully depressed, the jedi master was striding from the end. He was not familiar with the Felucian Jedi base, though he vaguely recalls having visited here before. He glanced around to see there was any of the very few Jedi present that he actually knew. The chances of that were very limited, he only knew a handful of Jedi by sight and some of those he had not heard of for some years. His first look revealed no-one so he proceeded to walk towards the exit, maybe he would have better luck elsewhere in the base.

Dandleion stared at the two for a few moments, then, eventually, shrugged. "So be it. She may accompany us." It would no doubt help Mary's social ability anyhow - already she had spoken far more words than she had in the past. That change in of itself was remarkable. "We need to leave relatively soon though...it seems we've been assigned a case in Kway Teow. Rest assured Kar'Orzh, she will be safe with us. Naana, why don't you get everything you need, and store them in a comfortable place on the ship? Mary, in the interim, I'd like to talk to you briefly.

Naan let out a squeal of excitement and jumped up in the air before running out of the ship and back to the Shaadlar troopship. Within five minutes she had a dufflebag fully packed, filled with tools, food and water, spare clothes, and other personal items she thought she would need. On top of it all was her own gaderffii stick, tied in with the closing straps on top. It was basically a mace, and lacked the jutting spear-tip of many other gaderffii, as she had not yet made her own. This one was passed down through her family until the younglings came of age.
Naan sat the dufflebag upright and squatted down, slipping her arms in the shoulder straps and lifting up with all of her might. Slowly she trudged back across the deck carrying the dufflebag which almost dwarfed her in size.
Kar'Orzh sighed as Naan ran off and shook his head in disbelief. Kar'Orzh bowed once more to Dandleion and Mary.
-Kar'Orzh- "I'm sorry to impose more on you, but she is very hard to say no to. She begged me every day for two months to come with us when she found out about our journey to this world. She has a an unbreakable will and a passion for the unknown, much like her mother...."
Kar'Orzh took a step towards Dandleion, reaching into his robes and taking out a small Credcard. He handed it to Dandleion.
-Kar'Orzh- "This is some money I have been saving from selling salvage to the Jawas over the years. I believe I can trust you to make sure Naan uses it responsibly. Anything that she does not spend you may keep, as my thanks. I hope "
Before Dandleion could even disapprove or try to turn the Credcard down, Kar'Orzh raised a hand and shook his head.
-Kar'Orzh- "I insist. I had been saving this money for Naan anyway. Besides, Tuskens do not use credits except to trade with Outsiders. Consider this a trade. The terms are simple. Take good care of my Naan, or suffer the wrath of her grandfather."
Kar'Orzh's voice had grown dark and heavy, the goggles that shielded his eyes bearing down hard on Dandleion. Kar'Orzh chuckled heartily, figuring he had gotten a good scare out of the man. The Tusken Engineer turned his head as he heard a stomping saw Naan making her way just up the ramp from across the ship. Naan huffed and strained as she climbed up the ramp and back into the ship. She had made it. She stomped, the resounding beat of her footsteps motivating her to continue until she stopped where the other were standing. She dropped her dufflebag, which hit the deck of the ship with a heavy metallic thud.
-Naan in Tusken- "I think I got everything! Where is a good place?"
Kar'Orzh put his hand on Naan's head patted her. She looked up to her grandfather and embraced him.
-Kar'Orzh in Tusken- "You behave for these people, Naan. If they return and tell me you misbehaved, the Suns themselves would not even be able to protect you from the punishment."
Naan nodded her head vigorously. Kar'Orzh patted his granddaughter's head once more before departing the ship and heading back to the Tusken ship. Naan looked to Dandleion and Mary and tucked her arms behind her back. She rocked on her feet nervously as she spoke.
-Naan in Tusken- "Thank you very much for allowing me to join you on your trip. When do we leave?"

-Mary OOM, prep the pod for launch.
-OOM Roger, Roger.
-Mary (in Tusken) Shortly. I need to have a word with Dandy first. For now, Naan, put your stuff in the room there.
As she finished speaking, she waved at the middle door on the left. The one leading to the spare quarters. Nodding at Dandy, Mary stepped into the joint kitchen/eating area, one of the few areas that could be considered furnished.

Naan knelt back down and lifted her dufflebag back up her shoulder, and began walking to the room Mary had pointed out. After she walked into the room, the first thing she did was drop the dufflebag again, another solid thunk resounded through the ship. After looking around a bit she opened the top of her dufflebag and took out a small stuffed Bantha doll. The thing was hideous, as it was made by Tusken hands, and was made of genuine bantha fur. She set it in the far right corner and shoved her dufflebag next to it. Naan patted her dufflebag a few times and then sat down, using the dufflebag for support as she took out her datapad and once again began to comb through pictures from other worlds, waiting to be called for by either Mary or Dandleion after that finished talking.

Activity seemed higher than from how Taralorn used to remember it around the Hangar Bay. It was almost akin to the times when they were in a state of war, which created the need for a base for Jedi. Idly, as he stood before the boarding ramp base of his modified cruiser, he wondered if the Jedi were gearing for some particular response. It would mean there would be much work available for everyone. A vague smile creased his face as he considered this. For far too long, while being there, he had never really gotten involved in the affairs of the Adhartim, whilst living amongst them with their consent.
That was going to change.
It was just him now. No one else. Just him and a whole universe in need. What man would he be if he did not try to make it a better place to live in? Closing up the ship's entrance, he headed out to find the masters available.

Caoimhin was looking past Na'an to Rutil when the door opened, but it was Na'an who spoke first. She stepped into the breach the open hatch left, her face set in hard, careful lines. The only sign of distress she displayed was the mildest of twitches, pulling at the scar that cut across her eyebrow. "I wish we could believe that." Her right hand rose into the space between them, palm upwards. Her left hovered at her hip, her thumb pushing up the fabric of her shirt to reach her shoto's activation stud. "Your other weapons. Then your hands."
Rutil didn't so much as lift a hand as he called the Force to surround the young man. And as it did so, he put it to work, and the lad would have felt the source of the Jedi's power slamming his airway shut. This game, borne of Na'an's indecision and Shan's coy attitude, had gone on long enough. Shan could either willingly comply with her, or the boy would be forced to deal with him. If history was any indication, the choice should have been obvious." Now, boy," the Zabrak growled in an unheard, menacing tone.
Well. It seemed that cooperation, although freely given, was still not trusted. That was fair. What wasn't fair was the fact that he couldn't kriffing breathe. His hand had already been reaching for his lightwhip when his airway had closed shut.
You bastard.
Still, though, he unclipped the lightwhip, the tendril wrapped around itself, and held it out. At the same time, he flicked his left hand towards the ground, the shoto up his sleeve dropping down into his palm. He then tossed it to the Zabrak, his mismatched irises locking onto Na'an's grey ones, his breath still stuck in his throat. There wasn't much else he could do..
You could push back, you pansy.
Rutil's just going to keep pushing. Wouldn't you rather be stubborn to spite him?
The darkness didn't have a response to that. And it was just as well, because Cao didn't have it in him to continue an argument while being deprived of oxygen. He stepped forward, hands out, waiting..

With a twist of Na'an's fingers, Cao's shoto popped out of his hand as his wrists slammed together. She caught the weapon deftly, looking back for a moment as she solidified her Force grip around his wrists. Rutil had backed her up, yes, but the oppressive feel in the air was hard for even her to breathe through--and it wasn't directed at her.
Sir, she thought briefly, I'm not being soft this time. He can't stand trial if he's dead.
Her false eye twitched briefly again, a signal so slight that those not in the know would dismiss it as a blink. Then Na'an tugged on the Force to pull Caoimhin by his hands, out of the ship and across the hangar. With her restraining him in the front and her teacher watching his back, they would be able to enter the base proper...not safely, perhaps, but as close as any Sith could get to the word.

In a smooth, sweeping motion, Rutil's left arm shot out to catch the lightwhip in mid air, his steely jade glare falling on his former apprentice. She knew the Shan boy. She knew what he had done to land himself in the position he was in. And this wasn't the first time that she had taken him into custody on a Jedi world after he had committed an act that would have landed anybody else a death sentence, either. Na'an was kriffing insane to think that the dark acolyte was ever going to see the inside of a courtroom, let alone actually be tried for his crimes in a manner that actually befit them. Had Rutil been there himself, Shan would have never seen the inside of a ship; that had already proven somewhat inefficient, if dramatic.
Nevertheless, it was her prisoner. Her prey. Her rules.
And her responsibility should the worst come to pass.
With another dark stare at Shan, Rutil's mental hold on his throat released. The Zabrak watched the pair exit the ship, and with two chirps of his comlink, the soldiers that had surrounded the ship lowered their weapons and returned to their well-deserved downtime. Rutil himself kept an eye on the pair only as far as their first turn, and then left in another direction altogether.

"You handled yourself well..." Dandleion's face creased as his datapad beeped once more, insistently. Rather than read it, however, he simply muted it and placed it in a robe pocket. "I let you handle the child in order to illustrate a point - how, technology, while powerful, can leave gaps in a Jedi's knowledge. Before I had even left the ship, I had already determined the girl's motives, and had left the task to you; I say this not in arrogance or pride, but rather to illustrate the difference between using the force, and other techniques." Sitting on the ground, Dand gestured for Mary to do the same. "The ability I used, called force sense, is only one of a palette of abilities that comprise the "core" force powers - abilities that all Jedi have mastered completely. Force sense allows one to sense their surroundings, and further, emotions, motives and life forces."
Dand gestured, vaguely, in the fashion he was prone to. "Sit, close your eyes...center your mind. Find that place within you that is quiet...balanced. Fall inward into your mind, into your instincts - listen, listen for the reverberations around you, see with your mind the ebb and flow of the force. Then, you to will be able to sense others as I do. With practice, anyway."
