Jedi/Mando conflict, take two-Roll call

Devlin Dewe is the main contact, and the latest from him about a page and a half back and a day or so ago was that JTR - the other Ossus main writer - didn't want to have a defeat, though in all honesty, he's possibly used to a much more competitive thinking process.

Speaking of which, Devlin Dewe , Ja'Sean Tabr Raddekh , the key thing is that at this stage, what we need for this war RP IS the despair and the worry. The Mandos need to be established as a really credible threat, to more than just Yavin, and to more than just Jedi. Ossus was suggested as a place for a victory because it's the perfect target - Jedi world, sure, but also with a separate Force Using tradition that the Mandos would also want to target. It's close enough to Mandalorian territory - and far enough away from help from the core worlds like Coruscant or Corellia - that it's also somewhere where they could reasonably bring overwhelming force to bear. Yes, being the defender helps, but it far from guarantees victory, and, to utilise the World War II metaphor that I've been returning to time and again for this RP, this is something akin to the German war machine defeating France. France had the advantage of territorial knowledge, they had strategies designed to take advantage of better fighting terrain (specifically, in Belgium), but ultimately, it didn't matter, Germany still won. Occupied Ossus, if it is Ossus (which I really hope it is because it's the best pick and would make the best story/RP), would be our France.

Ultimately, it'll end up back in Jedi hands eventually, because that's pretty much the main rule Rob set down for the Mandos when he started this, and in the meantime, it'll bring a lot of RP life to the planet. It's up to you guys, but the reason I suggested Ossus to start with was because it had all the right qualities - a very good RP team, geographical closeness to Yavin and to the Mandalorian worlds, a Jedi temple to target, a non-Jedi Force-using tradition to also target (to help establish it's not just the Jedi the Mandos are after), and a desire for some RP.

We're still in. We're still available to "lose". But, I prefer to think of it as "falling behind for a more dramatic victory".

Also, just fyi, the Great Jedi Library's archives are backed up in a remote storage facility far beneath the mountains. Have been, ever since the craziness of 1.0...or maybe because of the craziness. But, yeah, storywise, we're willing to take one for the team, as it were.

Awesome! Ossus is back on then. I am really looking forward to this... and by this I don't mean 'victory' - I mean 'awesome collaborative roleplay'.

Potentially, but I do want to be careful, because at the moment, on Yavin, there are two, maybe three Mando writers having to cover the entire Mando side of things, and almost a dozen writing the Jedi.

I guess what we - really - need is Mandos.

I have one Mando I can throw out there where he is needed. Either the Serreno assassinations Dente mentioned or Ossuss.

I put Adi on the line at the beginning of the war. I just dont want anything cheesy, like a long-range sniper or anything. If you want Adi's life, you have to face him.

Well, there aren't too many of us on Ossus at the moment. Just me. Dante Deveaux, Annikki Perala, and Casten Lorsa are in the library...I think waiting for Riddick. Riddick, Zero, and Talon are sporadically around. So, we could have 7 RPers, or we could have 1; plus Dav's NPCs and any other Jedi that might help defend, i.e. Will, et al.

And at the moment, I'm not sure how many Mandos will be there. I just know of Corr at the moment...

Maybe, the admiral is probably going to be tied up with jade & adikun for the next good bit. Aya might get involved (especially if there is a chance of looting some of the data).
